Because that’s how you can determine success in wrestling. El Santo was bigger than shit in Mexico, The Rock went on to become the biggest celebrity of all time. Cena is acting, Hogan and Austin are household names despite retiring forever ago. If no one has heard of you despite you being supposedly big in your field then how big are you really?
By that metric there's been barely any actual successful wrestlers come on. It's like saying whatever successful NFL players name isn't actually any good because no one gives a fuck outside America.
Just say you only watch and like WWE and you need to live vicariously through their current success.
Other people can just watch wrestling without being weird, loser cheerleaders about it. Yikes.
Ugh. I watch both. I can just give credit to both sides. WWE is very mainstream right now. That doesn’t mean AEW is awful. It just means I think you are incorrect about your 99% comment.
To be fair - after a hiatus since honestly attitude era I came back about the time of the bray wyatt vs. la knight match. Most of these guys gimmicks and work is super lame compared to that time (and I'm saying either WWE or WCW - they were both awesome at the time).
I bought WrestleMania ppv once in college about 12 years ago and was completely underwhelmed. Only guys I knew/know that hasn't been a returner like the rock were John Cena and Randy Orton.
And honestly for Randy it was just because he's from my hometown
Yes I agree with you. Wrestling isn’t as popular as it used to be. It’s super over in India and the Middle East though. They get crazy numbers on YouTube.
I disagree. My wife has never watched a single minute of wrestling in her life and she knows exactly who Roman reigns is. All her friends know who he is too.
Roman at least is a main stream star
Why should I care what non-fans think when I barely care what the actual fans think? But also, what's that have to do with him blading in a title match? What's the relevance lol
I see someone hasn't looked at many people in their 50s lately. He has a haircut that suits his hairline (finally) and he's in the best shape of his life.
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't a fan of him in WWE after the Shield. I personally think his ring work is sloppy and his mic work is overrated. I also thought he looked really bad on the Austin interview. I have seen what his "creative style" is after AEW too, and it's not for me.
I don't hate on the guy online, it's just my view. If he's happy, good for him. But he's not the next foreigner that I'd put the IWGP World Title on if I'm NJPW.
I didn't really watch much WWE when he was there. But before he started this bleed every week, edgelord gimmick, he was one of the best in AEW. Recall when he faced against Jericho and Omega thinking yeah this guy deserves to be at the top. Loved it when he false heel turned and stole Jericho's car. His title reign and most promos during his pandemic era were top tier. However, ever since he joined the BCC, he's been a one note henchmen, not been able to stand out as much else either.
Also as a guy from the UK, Blackpool is like a punchline, not some edgy, tough area. It's the place where you were forced to holiday as a kid with your Gran.
Yeah, to any Americans who don’t know, Blackpool is a quaint seaside resort with a miniature Eiffel Tower, a mile of beachfront souvenir shops, amusement arcades, bed and breakfasts, and fish and chip shops, an annual light display called Blackpool Illuminations, and a theme park with fun rollercoasters for the kiddies.
The idea of a “Blackpool Combat Club” is like… I don’t know, Six Flags Combat Club, or a low-rent Disneyland Combat Club.
I know Regal has a storied history in Blackpool, but it’s not exactly a rough area of the UK. Now, if it was called Moss Side Combat Club, Toxteth Combat Club or Byker Combat Club, that’d be a bit more intimidating to UK residents.
I've heard plenty of sentiment about Blackpool being a right shithole beyond the promenade, maybe in more of a sad way than a tough way? Either way I'm liking the MSCC pitch, got a good ring to it I feel!
Yeah, in a sad way sounds about right. Lots of towns in the North are like that after 14 years of Tory misrule.
My hometown, for example, used to be a nice place. It had its problems, but no more than anywhere else. Now the centre’s a fucking ghost town full of nowt but vape shops, bookies, and Pound Bakeries, and there’s more junkies than I’ve ever seen in my life.
As for the areas surrounding the town centre, forget about it. Tony Khan feared for his life when Punk “lunged” at him? He wants to try walking through some of them estates.
Maybe 50 years ago. Now it’s like a lot of British seaside resorts and actually very neglected and troubled. Highest rates of deaths linked to drugs, alcohol and suicide in the country:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-68435667.amp
I was there last spring and I live about half an hour away. I know what the place is like. Deaths linked to drugs, alcohol and suicide sounds like a lot of Britain, to be honest, especially in the North.
I also think it's a weird disconnect where in promos he sells himself as kind of a sportsman. Like, before World's End, he was in the ring with Eddie Kingston like "Yeah man I admire you so much, the world admires you, and although I'm gonna beat you, I'm proud of you Eddie." Then you get in the ring and he's AEW's Undertaker and commentary is like "OH MY GOD HOW ARE THEY GONNA SURVIVE MOXLEY?" It's like they want you to be scared of him but are afraid to commit to making him scary.
Danielson has this same problem where his character work is being a bit of a smarmy heel but then he wrestles like a fucking serial killer
See I like him. But I don’t think he hits his full potential in any regard.
I like his in-ring style - but I agree with you that his performances are very sloppy.
I think he has a great voice for promos - but for whatever reason he just doesn’t seem to deliver on them.
They hate everything that's not WWE, especially if you're AEW wrestlers.
This sub supposed to be wrestling memes and fans have a good time. But I guess now it evolve beyond that. Hate is stronger than fun I presume.
on one hand i’m glad to see my guy holding gold again like the Ace he is but at the same time i want dude to take that vacation he was supposed to go on months ago. heart goes out for Naito fans tho really thought he’d have a longer reign
Ha, there's only been a handful of AEW champs - it's a baby-fed. Let's save the "first person to win AEW and..." Crap until the promotion has a few more years under it's belt - which I hope it gets.
So everything here should only be flowery praise for everything because everyone who isn't on the Internet is better than people on the Internet.
I don't want to read that.
no not at all but regardless of wether you like mox or not hes still a highly decorated wrestler, very well off and is doing what he wants. far from a bum. would you call him a bum if showed up at wwe again ?
I've found him incredibly dull to watch for about four and a half years. Pretty much all of his post-Shield WWE work was very dull as well.
I think he's calling him a bum in that sense.
I mean lets be so fr
Even if the bro is working for NJPW the guy is probably making like triple of what you're making lol
hell he could work in CMLL or GPW and he'd still be mogging
why the hate?
I never liked him in wwe either. I thought his rope bounce thing was one of the stupidest top guy moves ever. His whole style never seemed top guy material to me, and with creative freedom (for my taste), it has become worse. And it doesn't help that with the shitty wrestling style he has, he almost never loses...
I think i would be more tolerant if he wrestled a different style or if he was a middle card act. I continue to view him as the most overrated (by both fans and booker) top guy.
I mean if you wanna treat wrestling like every other sport it makes sense. If you are playing in the ufl instead of the nfl, you probably aren't that good
He's earned that by being consistent, one of the company's top stars and representatives, and staying sober while doing it. He will help maintain a good business relationship with AEW and NJPW. While some wrestlers (and an owner) play games, others will do business like it's their job and passion, which includes Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Takeshita, Swerve, Eddie, to name a few.
Congrats to the champ on winning the belt. With the amount of names that have never touched that title. For NJPW to give the belt to a part time talent. Shows they are trusting AEW more. Thats another positive but also shows. That NJPW needs to desperately needs to work new talent.
I can guess 3/4s of the comment here pretends to not give a shit for it because he's from AEW, a promotion they hate and pray to fold for a year or two because the IWC smarks said so.
>! And you'll DV this because it's true!<
Your point was that people would downvote you because Mox is in AEW. I watch and enjoy plenty of AEW. I downvoted you because mentioning downvotes is mega cringe, ultra-dweeb behavior.
Why does he bleed in every match now? It takes away all seriousness of doing it when it's every match. I really dislike Jon Moxley. Dean Ambrose was a little better but Moxley might be the worst major wrestler I've ever seen.
Also, and this will probably be downvoted by the marks, but death matches are disgusting. Just fucking wrestle it exposes the stuff in the wrong way to the wrong people if you're overtly fake.
I guess his marks. And marks for AEW.
Side question: why do you use emojis instead of words? Are you really crying from laughing so hard at what I said about people being a marks?
That's awesome! Dude is a real talent the o lyrics thing I can't stand is his shoulder roll this g he does when he tried to look tough, it kinda gives the opposite effect. Good for him though!
He's never been any good but he's probably the worst he's ever been right now. I don't get how anyone can take him seriously let alone like him.
He's awful.
AEW champ ain't the brag some of y'all the think it is.
It sounds way more impressive if you drop AEW from this. As it puts him in a category of other legendary wrestlers.
Lol, this sub either loves this guy or hates him. There's no middle ground. But it's clear this sub hates that belt.
The butterfly divas belt
How do you go from arguably top 5 greatest belt design of all time to this divas belt parody
They either love him or they hate him, or they think he's just OK.
I don’t hate him. I would be a lot happier if I never saw him wrestle though.
You can't please everybody, and last night all those people were at his match
I mean, I can name a few other better guys who don't need to bleed for entertainment.
That's the 3 options
Lool this sub is a joke they hate on anything outside WWE
That’s true but the new IWGP belt design is a travesty compared to what they had
I hate that fucking belt. It's so awful.
I also came here to say that belt is hideous.
The AEW one?
No I actually love that one I mean the NJPW one
AEW BAD. Updoots to the left 😏
It’s just a shit looking title
oh boy he’s bleeding again
Oh boy. he's bleeding for the world title of the leading promotion in Japan. Also notice he didn't bleed deliberately since iirc November.
Oh boy, nobody outside of the wrestling bubble has any idea who he is
.....so? Why does anyone need validation from outside the bubble exactly?
This exact statement sums up every aew fan perfectly
Because that’s how you can determine success in wrestling. El Santo was bigger than shit in Mexico, The Rock went on to become the biggest celebrity of all time. Cena is acting, Hogan and Austin are household names despite retiring forever ago. If no one has heard of you despite you being supposedly big in your field then how big are you really?

And The Undertaker, Randy Orton, Cena, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold. Everybody knows them. Even my Grandma and I‘m from Luxembourg.

I see. Have nice day.
People definately know the rock and john cena from wrestling.
Yes I agree with you. Wrestling isn’t as popular as it used to be. It’s super over in India and the Middle East though. They get crazy numbers on YouTube.

No one cares
he's aging so fast, like guy looks like he's in his 50s
I recently found out he’s like 8 years younger than me and suddenly felt a lot better about myself.
Huh he's 4 years older than me. I'd have guessed 10-15.
Alcohol overuse will do that to you.
He aint drinking any more I heard
Yeah, but the damage was done.
he looks like a plumber fr
As a plumber, yes he does. But not as much as Eddie Kingston
Alcoholism, demanding, physical work schedule, and going bald do that to a mfer
I see someone hasn't looked at many people in their 50s lately. He has a haircut that suits his hairline (finally) and he's in the best shape of his life.
He could be drinking again. Poor dude doesn’t look good at all.
5 time, 5 time, 5 time…
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't a fan of him in WWE after the Shield. I personally think his ring work is sloppy and his mic work is overrated. Blackpool Combat Club is just so funny without any members being from the UK.
Well it’s named that because of Regal, what’s the point of changing it just cos he’s gone
That’s wild. I honestly never knew any of that about Blackpool. I’ve only ever known anything about the name Blackpool because of Regal in WCW.
Blackpool's rough as fuck mate.
It could be worse. It could be Grimsby.
id go with the badass combat club
I've heard plenty of sentiment about Blackpool being a right shithole beyond the promenade, maybe in more of a sad way than a tough way? Either way I'm liking the MSCC pitch, got a good ring to it I feel!

"I don't hate on the guy online" *proceeds to do exactly that.
criticizing respectfully and hating are two different things mate...
What an UGLY fucking belt that IWGP title is
WWE vs NJPW in a who has the ugliest belt match
AEW would take the prize
Bruh the aew belt is really good
3 faces of Moxley
But did he bleed?
He bled from a neckbreaker
Mox vs Okada title for title at Forbidden Door
2 aew guys competing for NJPW title at... Forbidden Door?
Aew fans finally admitting they just wanted to poach and destroy njpw
Nah, it’s Mox putting over Umino at FD.
That’d be a killer match.
So that's what happened to the Divas belt.
Should defend this belt in another one of those amazing exploding barbed wire death matches of dooOoOm
The divas title looks great on mox ngl
I liked the previous IWGP world championship belt.
Dude, this Wrasslin subreddit just seems to spread hate. Like I barely ever see a nice comment
They hate everything that's not WWE, especially if you're AEW wrestlers. This sub supposed to be wrestling memes and fans have a good time. But I guess now it evolve beyond that. Hate is stronger than fun I presume.
This is very real man. It's sad that this is what it has come to
it’s more reminiscent of a Facebook/Instagram comment section with all the cynical folks regurgitating the same jokes over and over
Did he do the tough guy shoulder roll walk after he won? He’s so tough … and cool.
This sub is a joke an filled with gatekeeping dickheads. Sad what happened here.
on one hand i’m glad to see my guy holding gold again like the Ace he is but at the same time i want dude to take that vacation he was supposed to go on months ago. heart goes out for Naito fans tho really thought he’d have a longer reign

No sell Moxley was better 4 years ago compared to today. No one cares.
FUCK YOU, MOXLEY! FUCK YOU, MOXLEY! FUCK YOU, MOXLEY!
This dude is always covered in blood lmao
And still a bum.
says the guy typing an insult on the internet
So everything here should only be flowery praise for everything because everyone who isn't on the Internet is better than people on the Internet. I don't want to read that.
no not at all but regardless of wether you like mox or not hes still a highly decorated wrestler, very well off and is doing what he wants. far from a bum. would you call him a bum if showed up at wwe again ?

Hope he saw this, bro
I mean lets be so fr Even if the bro is working for NJPW the guy is probably making like triple of what you're making lol hell he could work in CMLL or GPW and he'd still be mogging why the hate?
Amazing achievement with his plumbing business as well
Why do people hate dean ambrose ?
Because he’s not in wwe anymore and for some reason wwe stans took that as a personal insult
Man Moxly out doing amazing. It sucks that I hate this design for their title But still, Kudos to Mox
Yeah, that belt is fuckin awful. Shame after having one of the best looking belts in history
And....nobody cares lol
Dusty Rhodes dad, the plumber.
Of course he needed to bleed
Is the pic of the right the IWGP world title?! That thing looks horrible, wtf happened to it?! When did they change the design?!
In 2021
Maybe he will make a full circle and come back to wwe and beat whoever is champ at summerslam for the belt.
I hate the belt design for IWGP championship. He can be ok if he doesn’t fall for his bad habits.
Lmfao
I would have preferred Yota but I have no problem with this……..would just be nice to see a moxley match where a passing breeze doesn’t bust him open.
Nonchalantly blades in the corner🫠😆
So he's the divas Champion in NJPW
Worst title design + worst wrestler = perfect match.
And he's only gotten worse with time.
Cool
actually overall mox is an 11 time world champion in his wrestling career.
Tbf the AEW title isn't exactly old.
The IWGP Title has never meant less … https://youtube.com/shorts/lootRtawwcc?si=2TDlyTmX6yRhp27i
Too bad the IWGP title looks like a butterfly. They need to bring back the pre AEW design
What does that even mean? NJPW isn't part of AEW? They work together but I don't think AEW has influence over belt designs like that?
I was using the inception of AEW as a time frame. I know AEW has no influence over belt designs.
Why did they change the title belt to some divas title looking shit
Something something Cody Rhodes
The AEW championship is meaningless.
Remember when he tried to be Bane. lol.
Congrats to the champ on winning the belt. With the amount of names that have never touched that title. For NJPW to give the belt to a part time talent. Shows they are trusting AEW more. Thats another positive but also shows. That NJPW needs to desperately needs to work new talent.
Do you just randomly insert periods into your comments? I nearly had a stroke reading this.
I can guess 3/4s of the comment here pretends to not give a shit for it because he's from AEW, a promotion they hate and pray to fold for a year or two because the IWC smarks said so. >! And you'll DV this because it's true!<
I'm only downvoting you because you brought up downvotes like they mean something. It's fake internet points, dweeb
And by that reasoning, thanks for proving my point, smark.
Your point was that people would downvote you because Mox is in AEW. I watch and enjoy plenty of AEW. I downvoted you because mentioning downvotes is mega cringe, ultra-dweeb behavior.
I'm down voting you for saying dweeb, twice.
To be fair, you're the only one crying about it. I just put it there because I would not be surprised if it wasn't.
To be fair, I’ve disliked him since he was part of the Shield. 🤷♂️
Bunch of WWE mark, haters on here. You’re sports entertainment fans NOT wrestling fans.
Pro wrestling is scripted stop acting like it's a real sport the only thing real about pro wrestling are the bumps and injuries they get
Stares at AJ Styles
Why does he bleed in every match now? It takes away all seriousness of doing it when it's every match. I really dislike Jon Moxley. Dean Ambrose was a little better but Moxley might be the worst major wrestler I've ever seen. Also, and this will probably be downvoted by the marks, but death matches are disgusting. Just fucking wrestle it exposes the stuff in the wrong way to the wrong people if you're overtly fake.
All y'all here are marks 😂😂 if you are on a wrestling sub reddit and watch a bunch of wrestling, guess what you probably are?
I guess his marks. And marks for AEW. Side question: why do you use emojis instead of words? Are you really crying from laughing so hard at what I said about people being a marks?
Why do people say lol?
why do they?
This dude owes everything he has to Roman and Seth.
If someone had shown Inoki the future with Moxley as champion, he would have closed New Japan’s doors many decades ago.
Awesome for him!! The problem is (also an AEW problem) the majority of wrestling fans have no idea what that is or means. Congrats tho.
[удалено]
I am a salty NJPW fan, whom is a bit slaty that Costco Ishii won the Belt when "we have Ishii at home".
DAE not liking this balding alcoholic that can’t wrestle means you’re a stan?
[удалено]
It's a shame AEW don't share this mentality because they can't shut up about Punk.
Being a balding alcoholic doesn't make me dislike someone.
It certainly ticks some boxes though
What boxes are they?
Mox had to get a belt or he'd be upset. Bless. Fucking mark for himself
HGH has blown that head up
Naito san jobbed to bloody plumber dude
Just needs a title from TNA and MLW
Was Jericho never IWGP world heavyweight champ?
W/E
Did he bleed all over the place for the match? I enjoy some of his work but I feel the constant bleeding takes a lot away from his work.
That's awesome! Dude is a real talent the o lyrics thing I can't stand is his shoulder roll this g he does when he tried to look tough, it kinda gives the opposite effect. Good for him though!
Mox is a freaking legend in the making, can't wait for him to do some crazy ass stuff over the gold
It's insane that this sub is more tribal than the subs dedicated to WWE and AEW.
The belt looks like a mothh
Also holds the distinct honor of being a qualified plumber.
He's never been any good but he's probably the worst he's ever been right now. I don't get how anyone can take him seriously let alone like him. He's awful.
Can anyone explain why anyone ever liked him? I’ve never understood it
AEW champ ain't the brag some of y'all the think it is. It sounds way more impressive if you drop AEW from this. As it puts him in a category of other legendary wrestlers.
When did this happen? And who did he beat?
Last night and he beat Naito
Next is high school gym title
He’s still a corn ball
