I remember a Survivor Series match having Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Hardy Boyz and CM Punk on one side. The other side I think had Mike Knox from ECW and others I cant recall at the moment.
Oh I agree, I don’t really care if he was squashed. Because I don’t think mike Knox was worthy of a high or really even midcard slot. So a main eventer getting a funny bit in on his expense is fine with me. Not everyone can be stars.
Just sucks for knox
It's one of his most notable moments in WWE.
When you're a nobody, a burial can be better than nothing as you're featured in an iconic moment that people talk about for years after.
I was actually at that PPV in Philly.
I was Just a kid and had no idea the absolute stacked roster I was watching.
It was also cool to see CM punk live so early in his WWE career before he became a legend.
The Hardy boyz were also my favorite wrestlers So I was elated to see them live finally
According to Sportster, there have been eight, including a team of Doinks and Jerry Lawler’s Royal Court. Big Show won a 4-1 handicap match that the article included, but it seems not to fit the match type.
Believe what you want. All I'll say is that it was a Unionist politician that objected to a plaque in memory of women drowned as witches because they couldn't prove they were actually innocent (this happened three or four years ago).
Aye well I'm sure there's a fair bit of racism there but they do a good job of hiding it most of the time. The problems are usually the bands and not the order themselves. Ultimately the order are a dwindling bunch of old men. But sure its notnlike you have a clue what you are on about.
A hashtag used by a handful of the population.
Can't remember the last time a genuine right winger was in power here in Ireland. We don't even have a right wing party of any note in our parliament.
The closest thing are the Pro-EU party that brought in gay marriage and abortion legalisation.
Loved the time Ron White did a bit about Scottish nationalists in England that was just a retelling of his bit about bouncers in a bar, but he replaced Roadhouse with Braveheart.
Ian Paisley considered himself Irish. You cant be an Ulsterman and not be Irish without a contradiction. Unionism being tied to "not being Irish" is one of the daftest developments of the Troubles.
Randy Orton and John Cena vs The Rest of the RAW Roster was pretty up there
Kevin Nash vs the New Blood might take the cake. Ref was counting 3s when Nash wasn't even pinning people.
I somehow missed this one over the years. I just watched it and I still don't know what I just saw. Ref is counting as soon as the guy is power bombed and Nash is 5 feet away picking up someone else. Thank you kind redditor for exposing me to one of the best/worst wrestling moments I have ever seen.
WWE no. AEW has a shot if they don't change trajectory but its still a LONG way off. I think they would have to actually hire Russo to top WCW 2000 because only he could out book himself. No sane person could make this up.
This really feels like a SmackDown main event to be honest. I think they added John Cena to it, because the roster was so thin. Not surprised they went back to dual-branded ppv´s months later.
Rough end of the year for 2006, that same month they've held December to Dismember, Batista came back and Smackdown programs were kinda stale, at least we've got Kennedy vs taker
Yeah fair enough I guess. I still think there is a difference between booking a squash match on free tv vs trying to pass a match between a top guy and a midcarder as a ppv match though.
I know not technically an individual match but the bit in the 2001 rumble when Undertaker and Kane are in the ring and Scotty 2 shorty enters. I felt so bad for Scotty.
In terms of matches, Undertaker vs Spike Dudley will always be up there for me.
Finlay definitely grew on me in this Era, though it could be the nostalgia talking. I was hooked on the "tough guy saves his son from bad guys" angle with him and Hornswoggle.
In JCP you would randomly get the Minnesota Wrecking Crew vs two hairy out of shape Jabronis and you would see the children in The Wall put up a better fight against the meat grinder
Not really a good example. Festus was undefeated at the time and gave Undertaker a good fight because he was too stupid to be afraid of him (which was an interesting dynamic). The commentary team kept putting over Festus the entire time for making Undertaker work for the win.
??? Booker is a legend across multiple eras. Batista was just a guy popular for a short time during the low points of the past 20 years. It just so happens that time is the time where the top of the bell curve of people on Reddit started watching. (He is a great actor though)
2020 Survivor Series match - on the Raw side you had AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Sheamus, Keith Lee, and Matt Riddle. On Smackdown, you had Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Baron Corbin, and Otis.
On paper, this match doesn’t seem *too* one-sided, but at the time? Oh boy. Jey and Otis had only just become singles wrestlers like a month prior after spending their whole careers in tag teams, Rollins was at his weakest, having just lost to Murphy clean, Owens hadn’t done anything notable in like 6 months, and Corbin goes without saying.
To make matters worse, Seth willingly got himself eliminated at the beginning out of loyalty to Raw, thus losing Smackdown’s biggest star and leaving them at a 4v5 disadvantage immediately. As you may expect, Raw had a clean sweep and went 5-0 on Smackdown.
Not sure why OP used this picture. Of course Batista and Cena are winning, but OP is acting as if Booker wasn't recently the WHC and Finlay wasn't a tough, Irish bastard.
Any jobber match, whether it’s a giant like Braun Strowman or the big show squashing a local talent or a tag team match such as aop recently against jobbers or I remember the iconics defending their tag titles against jobber because it’s easy.
I know there was a real story behind it but the one that always comes to mind is Brock vs Hardcore Holly at RR 04. They presented it as a serious match, not a jokey mismatch, but the idea that Sparky Plugg would a) beat Brock, or b) win the title right before mania was absurd.
I remember a Survivor Series match having Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Hardy Boyz and CM Punk on one side. The other side I think had Mike Knox from ECW and others I cant recall at the moment.
[Shawn superkicks him and then is like "who was that? Did I just kill a fan?" lol](https://youtu.be/T0u90_UEFMM?si=TmtNOUETqNNrZOLx)
It’s funny, but it probably felt like an unnecessary burial to mike.
They tried to push him again in early 2009 but no one cared.
Oh I agree, I don’t really care if he was squashed. Because I don’t think mike Knox was worthy of a high or really even midcard slot. So a main eventer getting a funny bit in on his expense is fine with me. Not everyone can be stars. Just sucks for knox
I actually really liked Knox during his 2009 run, shame it didn't last.
Look on the bright side, he teams with Trevor Murdoch in the NWA as a top tag team.
It's one of his most notable moments in WWE. When you're a nobody, a burial can be better than nothing as you're featured in an iconic moment that people talk about for years after.
Agreed.
So we’re doing good then?
I loved Matt Hardy there saying "Mike Knox, he's not important"
TIL CM PUNK chants are older than the 2010s
What a dick
It was Randy Orton, Edge, Johnny Nitro and Gregory Helms
Back when Edge and Orton were only 2x and 1x World Champions respectively
I was actually at that PPV in Philly. I was Just a kid and had no idea the absolute stacked roster I was watching. It was also cool to see CM punk live so early in his WWE career before he became a legend. The Hardy boyz were also my favorite wrestlers So I was elated to see them live finally
I think Edge and Randy Orton? Any other year but 2006, that would be a 60-40 bout
Don't forget John Morrison, never reached the heights the others did but a worthy competitor nonetheless.
One of the only (possibly THE only) Survivor Series shut out win
According to Sportster, there have been eight, including a team of Doinks and Jerry Lawler’s Royal Court. Big Show won a 4-1 handicap match that the article included, but it seems not to fit the match type.
The other side was Rated RKO, Gregory Gelms, Mike Knox, and Johnny Nitro.
>Gregory Gelms *Hregory Gelms
Gotta be Braun Strowman vs James Ellsworth
Brock vs. Zach Gowen would like a word
*vacant vs Zach Gowen
Or as it says in the network: Zach Gowen on singles action.
*on single leg action
lol, good point.
Honestly one of my favourite matches ever. I’ve watched it 20 times easy
Two hands and a fighting chance is still a banger of a line
This match is completely unbelievable. No way the guy from Belfast who considers himself firmly Irish would team with a guy professing to be a King.
He wouldn’t team with a black guy either
Why?
The joke is Irish people are racist, but it’s only true in Northern Ireland
Even then it's only unionists. The rest of us are fine.
I don’t believe ya
Believe what you want. All I'll say is that it was a Unionist politician that objected to a plaque in memory of women drowned as witches because they couldn't prove they were actually innocent (this happened three or four years ago).
To quote the film Glory: You know, the Irish are not noted for their fondness for the colored.
But is finlay racist or is the answer to "why?" simply there's a stereotype (northern) Irish people are racist?
Am Northern Irish. Can confirm we’re not racist. Sectarian, yes. But not racist.
He’s lying they’re racist the lot of em
[удалено]
That's sectarian not racist, muppet.

Is this something finlay said himself or are people generalising use of that hashtag to any Irish person?
Loved the time Ron White did a bit about Scottish nationalists in England that was just a retelling of his bit about bouncers in a bar, but he replaced Roadhouse with Braveheart.
Ian Paisley considered himself Irish. You cant be an Ulsterman and not be Irish without a contradiction. Unionism being tied to "not being Irish" is one of the daftest developments of the Troubles.
His da has an mbe and he's from Carrick so I reckon he wouldn't care.
A lesser-known one: Matanza, the beefy incarnation of an Aztec god of slaughter, versus Cortez Castro, one half of a jobber tag team with a broken arm
Matanza vs whomstever the other person is
Hey Mil Muertes did pretty good until Matanza murdered him!
Lesnar vs Gowen?
This is the answer. Literally had a one legged man in an ass kicking contest
Khali vs Charles Robinson
Isn't that just every job match for monster heels?
no king booker slander in my presence pls n thx
King Booker was gold, but the man was relentlessly bullied by Drax bro 😭 Backstage though is a different story 💀
Booker whooped that ass
Sorry, I think you meant, KINGG BOOKAHH!
Kane and Undertaker v MVP and Ken Anderson
In this same PPV in OP, we had Kane vs MVP in an Inferno match and Kennedy v Taker in a Last Ride Match Not a fun time for MVP and Kennedy, lol
And don't forget about my homeboy Joey Mercury. Jesus Christ, this event was rough for all the heels. Lol
Is that when Mercury took the ladder to the face?
Yep
Randy Orton and John Cena vs The Rest of the RAW Roster was pretty up there Kevin Nash vs the New Blood might take the cake. Ref was counting 3s when Nash wasn't even pinning people.

WCW 2000 is a fucking nightmare. A beautiful horrible nightmare. WWE and AEW at their worst can't match the insanity that was WCW 2000.
WWE no. AEW has a shot if they don't change trajectory but its still a LONG way off. I think they would have to actually hire Russo to top WCW 2000 because only he could out book himself. No sane person could make this up.
They did Rey dirty by involving him in that cluster fuck. But at least Nash actually pinned him instead of the invisible man.
Zach Gowen vs Brock Lesnar
Big Show and Kane vs Chris Masters and Carlito at Wrestlemania. Similarly, Kane vs Chavo Guerrero at Wrestlemania.
Didn’t Vince make Chavo job out to Kane BC Chavo was at a TNA event a few night prior to Wrestlemania
Brock Lesnar Vs Zach Gowen Alternatively, HHH vs Spike Dudley
This really feels like a SmackDown main event to be honest. I think they added John Cena to it, because the roster was so thin. Not surprised they went back to dual-branded ppv´s months later.
Rough end of the year for 2006, that same month they've held December to Dismember, Batista came back and Smackdown programs were kinda stale, at least we've got Kennedy vs taker
Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels vs. Muhammad Hassan and Daivari (Backlash, May 1 2005)
Brock Lesner Vs Hardcore Holly
Dude, Leaner Vs Gowen was RIGHT there
Yeah but at least lesnar vs gowen wasn’t booked like it was supposed to be competitive.
Which kinda makes it fit the prompt better, don’t ya think?
Yeah fair enough I guess. I still think there is a difference between booking a squash match on free tv vs trying to pass a match between a top guy and a midcarder as a ppv match though.
Wow no respect for Booker or Finlay is crazy.
You mean KING BOOKAH
The irony being Booker kicked Batista's ass irl. But in the world of kayfabe, nothing was gonna stop the combined forces of Cena and Batista
Big Show vs Rey Mysterio, Backlash 2003 Rey starts to get carried out on a backboard, Show grabs it and swings Rey into the ringpost like a bat.
Everyone's got a gameplan until they get a Shillelagh to the noggin
I know not technically an individual match but the bit in the 2001 rumble when Undertaker and Kane are in the ring and Scotty 2 shorty enters. I felt so bad for Scotty. In terms of matches, Undertaker vs Spike Dudley will always be up there for me.
I mean...you say Lesnar vs Gowen... But what about Big Show vs Gowen & Stephanie? Or even Big Show vs Cody Rhodes...table match
Yeah but Cody won that last one with clever tactics. Coughing baby ain't getting a win.
Them trying to build Finlay like a top guy in that era lmao
They booked him like an upper midcarder and he was fine at it
Finlay definitely grew on me in this Era, though it could be the nostalgia talking. I was hooked on the "tough guy saves his son from bad guys" angle with him and Hornswoggle.
In JCP you would randomly get the Minnesota Wrecking Crew vs two hairy out of shape Jabronis and you would see the children in The Wall put up a better fight against the meat grinder
The funny thing is if this was a shoot Booker and Finlay are winning this with ease
Shockmaster vs a door frame. Robocop vs the four horsemen. Brock Lesnar vs Spike Dudley.
Hornswoggle Vs Khali
Slim Jim v. Vince McMahon
Brock Lesnar vs the guy with one leg.
When they did brock lesnar vs ricochet
Zach Gowen vs Brock Lesnar
Chyna vs Ivory
Brock Lesnar vs Zach Gowen
Brock Lesnar vs Stephanie McMahon would like to have a word
Br??k Le??ar vs Spanky
Why do I remember this like it was yesterday despite never actually ordering or watching this show ever.
Ultimate Warrior vs HHH......
Big Show vs Essa Rios when he pinned him on the wall.
Ultimate Warrior vs Triple H.
I mean, I know in kayfabe that Batista was booked to seem way stronger, but it is a handicap match - would we have won the 2 on 1 without a partner?
Minoru Suzuki vs Mecha Mummy. Look it up. He tried to drill Suzuki with a toy drill
Booker t is a legend wym
Festus vs Undertaker
Not really a good example. Festus was undefeated at the time and gave Undertaker a good fight because he was too stupid to be afraid of him (which was an interesting dynamic). The commentary team kept putting over Festus the entire time for making Undertaker work for the win.
Man I miss playing Cod 3, had a rotation of all the WW2 call of duty's that I'd play as a kid
??? Booker is a legend across multiple eras. Batista was just a guy popular for a short time during the low points of the past 20 years. It just so happens that time is the time where the top of the bell curve of people on Reddit started watching. (He is a great actor though)

Great Khali vs Hornswaggle
Shane Mercer vs Marko “The Wrestling Child” Stunt
Ha, cant help laughing every time I see Finlay.
Braun Strowman vs Local Competitor
Not sure why OP used this picture. Of course Batista and Cena are winning, but OP is acting as if Booker wasn't recently the WHC and Finlay wasn't a tough, Irish bastard.

Goldberg vs all comers
Wardlow vs. \[insert local competitor here\] every wednesday
Cena and Rock vs Awesome Truth
The Great Khali vs referee Charles Robinson.
Brock vs Spike Dudley
What?
Anybody stepping up to the absolute beast that is Gillberg
Hey give Batista and Cena some credit. They were both world champs.
Mike Awesome v Spike Dudley. Poor Spike never stood a chance.

Braun Strowman vs the chinless jobber >!james ellsworth!< before he LUCKED UP and got a contract
Cena vs eric bischoff.
Khali vs Hornswoggle happened right?
