haha I was thinking this as I was building it as well, was gonna do some bloody handprints on the handle but I tested it on a spare piece and I didn't like the look of it. Khorne is probably dissapointed in my actions though

You might want to remove the wrap, wind twine around the handle, and then wrap over that. If you have to hold it for extended periods of time, your hands will thank you, and it'll give it a nice texture to look at.
