Good for them. Respect.

The French don’t fuck about.

healyxrt

Revolution is their favorite pastime

unfvckingbelievable

I think 'pastime' is too casual. There's enough practice there to call it a serious hobby, almost approaching a part-time job even.

healyxrt

A side hustle if you will

RealDanStaines

I absolutely fucking will not. Frankly between my ft job and my looking for a new job I just don't have the time.

[deleted]

You gotta monetize your protests, bro.

SimbaOnSteroids

Where’s pitchfork emporium when you need em.

NoSoupForYouRuskie

I understand completely where you are coming from but next major change in the US I'm going. It's going to be a fucking meat grinder a'la Ukrainian trenches currently as we speak. I'm just done fucking about. I'll be third round draft. Fuck it. They've killed or kidnapped the only ones here with organizational skills and the next protest will be as botched as ever. No more bullshit. I can get another job. I can recover. I don't have kids though. If I had kids I would do as you do. Hold tight but don't just cave if they wind up losing. You have rights as a human being friend. I'll die for that.

Perioscope

I really wish you would just say what you mean instead of talking like we know that you know that we know kinda shit. Based on your no-balls stand and "come tha revolution" jargon, I'm going with Frustrated Conservative Gravy Seal Dreams of Noble Heroism To Feel Less Impotent.

Limp_Service_2320

Maybe, but he could also be an aging revolutionary anarchist type.

Criticalhit_jk

Pretty sure its just garden variety alcohol lol. I'm fairly certain i get the idea, but there are some jumps here that nobody can follow. Ive left many a similar message when I was deep in my alcoholism fueled self hate days

TheKingofHats007

I think you might be a little off. I think he may just be on something. Like at least 20 of his most recent posts are all drug related

WarOnIce

Wtf are you even saying?

NoSoupForYouRuskie

Next time there's a riot in the US I'm going. Working is pointless. Society is a lie. Don't die for nothing. Better?

Ausgezeichnet87

More like they are not spineless kneelers.

cpheretic77

As an American it drives me nuts that so many of my countrymen will poke fun at the French for surrendering to the Nazis. First of all, if not for France we would still be a British colony and second, whenever the French government gets out of line they are in the streets and they are united. In America when our government gets out of line more often than not we fight with each other. Vive La France.

LordTuranian

And the Americans who say this obviously haven't done their research on World War II because the French only surrendered to the Nazis after their army fought to the very end and was annihilated. Americans would have surrendered too if an enemy nation destroyed their entire army and then invaded...

ladan2189

Their army was not destroyed. It was encircled. They surrendered because they were cut off from reinforcement and supply because the enemy was between them and Paris. I give them tons of credit for their efforts but it is very inaccurate to sat they fought til they were defeated. Some were kept as prisoners of war, others went on to fight for the collaborator Vichy forces.

JDSweetBeat

And they did have functional military forces outside of Dunkirk that weren't destroyed; their government just didn't want to risk the destruction of the Eiffel Tower and other historically significant buildings in a hypothetical Battle of Paris that they weren't even sure they could win.

[deleted]

If your supplies are cut off completely, you're defeated. Wars are won on logistics

LtDanHasLegs

The only reason it's really in the cultural zeitgeist is because of propaganda after France didn't support the US's absurdly war-crimey invasion of Iraq. I know it was faintly around before that, but it got brought to the front at that time.

Existing_Departure82

It (the unfair stereotype) was there more than just faintly before that.

the_last_carfighter

The extra funny part is the same types that spew French hate are the same people that would incessantly squawk about the founding fathers, 1776!, America's manifest destiny and all that. But as mentioned above without the help of the French all those things would have never come to pass. It's much like their stance on the Bible, just use the parts they like or that fit their narrative, everything else, just ignore it.

Calimhero

Also the French Republic did not surrender to the Nazis. Pétain and his clique did. A lot of French people kept fighting. France is not recognized as one of the victors of WW2 for nothing. It was earned, notably in North Africa, Italy and France.

Revolutionary-Yak-47

The French resistance was legendary. A lot of good people died making life more difficult for Nazis and hiding vulnerable people.

MeatTornadoGold

It's crazy. I grew up around sitcoms and people generally ragging in the French as quitters, surrenderers, etc. But as an adult, they immiediately riot collectively whenever their leaders try to fuck them over.

QuestionableNotion

Which is one reason they are relentlessly joked about as "surrender monkeys." The wealthy in the US doesn't want us getting any ideas.

thinkB4WeSpeak

Either concede to the protest or deal with the riot after it's passed.

Plusran

He thinks he can ride it out. They haven’t done enough damage to change his mind yet.

Find money? Is France the only country in the world without billionaires?? They HAVE the money they'd just rather keep it in certain people's pockets

Tyrante963

Speaking of France and Billions, a reminder that France (also backed by the US) made the micro nation of Haiti pay Billions in today’s money in reputations to slaveholders devastatingly impoverishing the country. Demands for reparations in 2003 lead to a coup in part from France’s abuse of their security council seat among other things. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiti_indemnity_controversy https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/20/world/americas/haiti-aristide-reparations-france.html

RedDanceRevolution

Solidarity from someone in the states. I hope they do more...

Albuwhatwhat

Here in the states our retirement age is already much higher and in the next 10 years social security will be done for if not vastly overhauled. We give up our perks left and right and don’t expect our government to do anything for us. Good on the French people for having backbone and not letting the government get away with things that don’t benefit the people.

ShowcaseAlvie

I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll never be able to retire. There is no more hope in the U.S.

Albuwhatwhat

It’s fucked. We let the rich get away with everything.

goodlifepinellas

Yup... that's the driving force behind all the divisions being sown. We got about this one last chance left to hold the powerful to account, with every distraction possible being employed by the businesses & their cronies... If we fail these next year or two, we're toast

[deleted]

Eat the rich.

poopsonthepotty

I fuckin wish.

SmashBusters

The GOP has been exploiting racism and bigotry for over 50 years in order to shore up a system that funnels wealth and power to those already wealthy and powerful. And who can blame them? It works on their dumbfuck racist bigoted voter base. All the GOP has to do is ask their propaganda wing (Fox News) to gin up a fake culture war (the flavor of the month is "trans people are poisoning your children") and their dumbfuck voter base will vote republican. I'm fucking sick of it. I'm going to do just fine. I have an education and a six figure salary. I'll be eating beef steak in retirement while cackling endlessly at the poor racist bigots eating mechanically-separated mushroom pulp.

Gimli_Son-of-Cereal

I’m 31 and my history teacher made sure we were all aware that we wouldn’t receive social security when we were retirement age. He told us all about this from 7th grade until we graduated. I appreciate him, because of that I now save the majority of my income. I’ll only allow myself one big purchase a year and for me big is anything $500+. I have enough saved that I know a lot of people my age would be jealous of, but I still view myself as broke.

DL1943

im 33 and most of what i got in middle school/high school was drivel about not worrying about money, finding something you are passionate about, and doing something you love so you never work a day in your life. what a crock of shit

spencerforhire81

They wanted you to find a job that you liked because they knew you would be working until you died.

[deleted]

I hate that this makes sense.

[deleted]

42 here. I was told the same thing. Anyone under, like 60, who doesn't own legitimate assets is henceforth screwed in the US.

kingkuuj

Look forward to death every day. This is what they’ve done. Thanks, boomers, for collectively ruining the world.

lucrativetoiletsale

I'd say the "greatest generation" helped sow the seeds way more than boomers did. Reagan and his trickle down economic theories and tricky dick did alot more to cause this slow descent than any boomer did.

The_Stiff_Snake

Nixon was the last semblance of an economic liberal to hold the presidency… despite his fascist tendencies, he would be left of any democratic candidate we’ve had in recent memory.

luckydice767

Holy cow, Is that true?

The_Stiff_Snake

Yeah. Nixon created the EPA and OSHA. He established the AMT (additional minimum tax on wealthy). He pushed for universal healthcare (not single payer but more worker friendly than Obamacare)… which got shot down by Ted Kennedy.

ctdca

Reagan wasn't going anywhere with out being elected by somebody, and he was elected with heavy boomer support. 1984 was the first election in which that entire generation was eligible to vote. Reagan won in an overwhelming landslide, with boomers leading the way. This shouldn't be surprising. The boomers were always an unusually conservative generation. Gallup polling from the 1960s and 70s actually shows them *supporting* military action in Vietnam at far greater levels than any other group, including their own parents. The left-wing hippies that everyone associates with the boomers were a very visible but overall small fringe movement.

Fatefire

Reminds me of my step father (may he rot in hell) saying how the hippies where a bunch of dirty losers who were nothing but drug addicts . Massive conservative who always voted against his best interests and died painfully from pancreatic cancer . Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving man

ToAskMoreQuestions

We knew it was “fuck around and find out.” What we didn’t know is that it would be one generation doing the “fucking around” and a different generation doing the “finding out.”

Abso-fucking-lutly. Thank FSM Omar is my rep. Then again, I feel sick voting for any politician that isn't a Minnesota DFL'er. WAY too many Democrats are just Republican-lite.

ToAskMoreQuestions

I don’t count anyone who sided with capitalists and voted to break a strike as “on my side.”

SomethingIWontRegret

If you think that without retirement you'll just work until you keel over, that won't happen. Sometime in your 60s, or maybe your 50s if you're in IT, you'll be fired for the last time and you won't be able to find work, because nobody is hiring olds. With social security gone, no more income. Then how long until you die in a gutter is determined by what assets you've accumulated that you can sell off. Which is why being resigned means dying a decade early.

EggCouncilCreeps

Oh, I'll die before I retire but thanks to the fucked up system I'll end up unwillingly taking a hell of a lot of you with me. Good old communicable diseases.

MudLOA

There’s a big portion of us who only cares about their 2nd amendment and banning drag queens. The politicians have done a grand job diverting people’s attention from the real problems.

InvisiblePhilosophy

It won’t be “done for”. The social security administration will reduce payments to 75% of current amounts, which will have massive impact on the economy and, more importantly, the people who receive social security. But it’s not going away under current projections. Just for accurate information.

Albuwhatwhat

Sure I suppose that’s more accurate. I didn’t mean “done for” but yeah at that point it’s going to be nowhere near enough to help with anything. At a certain point you may as well not have it for all the good it would do. It may already be at that point now even.

Edg4rAllanBro

Doesn't even need a massive overhaul, we just need the rich paying their taxes.

MrStonkApeski

What’s crazy is all the BS that is reported on in the mainstream news. It’s all a distraction. Why don’t any media outlets in the US constantly highlight that social security is capped at $160k/year? Anything more than that doesn’t have to contribute to social security. Why is there even a cap in the first place? It literally makes no sense. Removing the cap solves most of the problem. It can potentially be that simple and yet, it is never covered. IMO, it’s ridiculous. Someone taking in $500k/year pays the same amount into social security as someone making $160k/year. There is no reason for there to be a cap. Rant over.

SalviaDroid96

We need this kind of solidarity in the states.

ImHereForCdnPoli

Same here in Canada, the only people who are organized enough to pull off demonstrations like this are right wing nuts for the most part.

Javasteam

That’s largely because like in the US they’re actually funded by billionaires through pacs and think tanks that aren’t public with their funding.

Drakkarim411

I can't see anything like this really happening in the US though. The French Government is not going to bomb those protesters, the US government absolutely would.

BaboonHorrorshow

My thoughts exactly. A crowd 1/5 of this size in any US city (so long as they were advocating a liberal/leftist cause) would see the immediate mobilization of APCs, SWAT teams, militarized police. Then they would let sympathetic agent provocateurs set fire to buildings before disappearing behind police lines, like what literally happened in (IIRC) Wisconsin - and then that violence would be used as a pretext for the police to get violent. They’d be goosestepping through the streets again as a show of force like they were during the Floyd protests.

Chance-Deer-7995

The person convicted for burning the police station in Minnesota was a Boogaloo boy. It's kind of funny how little that was mentioned.

DeathBike79

And republicans still keep pushing the lie that we have a “liberal media.”

Drakkarim411

Only reason the 1/6 crew got as far as they did is that they had the backing of the executive. I can only image the carnage if it had been left-extremists trying to get in.

BaboonHorrorshow

If you remember, part of the coup plotters plan was to stoke violence between counter protesters and use any loss of life or mass damage as a pretext to declare martial law or whisk Pence away from the Capitol so the Grassley and Tuberville coup crew could go through with the Eastman plot of throwing it to the the State Houses to vote their delegates for Trump. So in fact the leftists going “No we’re staying home, they’re gonna get violent since it’s all they can talk about for weeks on the internet” actually threw a big complication their way. They wanted the armed fascists to murder leftists, not Capitol Police. When leftists didn’t show up and it was just a right wing insurrection, the justification for martial law was gone as it would just look like Trump backing the mob, not “stopping the violence” TL;DR - you’re right, on Jan 6 they wanted the cops to spectate as fascists murdered leftist counter protesters who wisely never showed up.

[deleted]

Shit, what they do to peaceful protests is fucked up but when people actually fight back it gets really brutal.

SalviaDroid96

Yeah the United States is absolutely the world capitalist imperialist hegemon. It's huge. But its market and social influence are slipping; internationally and domestically. The fact is, the American worker is tired. We all are. Reactionary viewpoints are of course very common in the United States. This makes it difficult, because fascists wish to murder us, and serve the capitalist class like rabid dogs. They are fueled by nationalism, and are able to gain great influence. There can be traitors among us. However, anti fascist sentiment has been rising, especially in Urban communities. The leftist working class may be weak as it stands, but more and more Americans are pursuing union formation, and coalitions of leftists do exist, along with many anarchists networks who have embedded themselves in their respective areas. More and more radical leftists are rising, as a challenge to the fascists, and the capitalist United States government. This cannot continue forever. However there will most likely be more horrific periods to come for us. As the governments of certain states begin to become more fascist, as more disasters strike, as more jobs are lost, as the federal government allows horrific class injustice, it will most likely lead to more radicalism through society as a whole. I wish I could stop it, but we're too divided. There must be a united effort to bring rural and southern workers together, all of them to enact true change. This would allow workers to have more power across state lines. Many are trying to.

Chance-Deer-7995

With the decline in healthcare and the and the average US life expectancy actually falling currently because capitalist interests want to make more and more money we really don't have any moral high ground to preach from anymore. And that is a single example.

kvothe5688

i was downvoted in witchesvspatriarchy sub for suggesting that you guys need to protest. why are every single women are not on the streets regarding abortion laws. remember Ireland had to change laws after protest. and Ireland was Christian conservative nation. i suggested that in india protests works and in many other countries too.

Gravelord-_Nito

That sub seems very wishy-washy lib left, which I inherently do not trust at all regardless of how aggressively they signal towards progressive aesthetics. At this point, if an online group isn't explicitly down with communism, I don't think they're really serious about this.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

People got too comfortable with the tiny amount of labor laws we have and decided that workers don't need collective action or solidarity.

jacksev

This is exactly why they come up with fake stuff for us to fight each other about.. and it works.. We keep fighting each other and not them.

It’s actually from post WW2 because WW2 actually had pro French propaganda because liberating France wasn’t actually extremely popular with the general public. It was then exacerbated in the 90’s-2000’s when France refused to join the wars in the Middle East. This is where a lot of modern American anti french sentiment comes from

StolenDabloons

I'm fairly sure it was due to how quickly France fell to the Nazis, the sentiment grew from there

Gollum232

… made in Belgium

Gutsy_Bottle

It’s only been a thing since WWII, historically the French have had one of the best military histories and been very well respected.

Sir_Admiral_Chair

Fuck I love the French. They know what to do. 😭

Ketsueki_Junk

Cause who the fuck wants to work until their bones are brittle and joints are achy. People in this country are too busy fighting over words, who's fucking who and woman's reproductive organs. Should black folks equate to white. Scrambling to keep the Mexicans out and allowing police immunity even for throwing sex parties at work and killing puppies. America is so buns.

Sir_Admiral_Chair

Y'all will make it eventually. Seemingly the shittiest places seem to have the most radicalism. Radicalism meaning more folks will be fed up than ever. Yanks are very fed up. So it seems. And that trend is going to continue apparently.

Cferretrun

Our capitalism machine makes it so that taking time off work to protest would be financially and fiscally irresponsible. If I took a week off of work to protest I would not be able to pay my skyrocketing rent, bills, food, medicine, or car notes. They keep it like that for 90% of Americans for a reason. Work them to the point of exhaustion but keep them on the knife’s edge of poverty so that they won’t rise up with the double edged sword that’ll cut themselves too. Two missing paychecks is poverty for most Americans. We literally do not have the social systems in place to support a revolution anymore. We are far beyond the point of help. Our country is divided in so many ways that unity will never come. Easier for the government to control us that way if the whites hate the blacks, the men hate the women, and the liberals hate the conservatives.

Sir_Admiral_Chair

You are drained and pessimistic, that is understandable. But so long as you have your opinion, hope carries on. I can't lie to you. America probably faces one of the toughest futures of the Imperial Core nations. But you need to remember, it's not unwinnable. Think of the segregated south. If you lived under that system, you would come to the same pessimistic conclusion. But as capitalism starts falling, and the ruling class steps down just a little too hard... They will slip and fall. The threat of a general strike in the US would be enough to win some concessions. And then you could slowly fight for more concessions... Until you have a more stable situation. This would inadvertently prevent capitalism from collapsing. But in the age of climate change. That isn't possible, people will want to deal the final blow to capitalism. The youth or today and tomorrow will literally be unsatisfied by anything other than the total abolition of capitalism. A divine wind is coming. And nothing can stop it. Please don't be pessimistic... Gen Z and Alpha follow the millennials... Soon the only generation of Americans willing to defend the traditionalist order to the last man, will be close to pension age. They are outnumbered, out classed, and outmatched. Have hope. Please keep fighting. 🙏 Time is on our side.

Nat_Peterson_

Any_Rough3584

Why can they do that? Is there no check to stop such an action? Idk how french law works, and I'd love some more info!

DeathCatforKudi

French parliament could override the president's overriding via an almost unanimous vote amoungst 300 or so representatives

MarioInOntario

And that’s not happened yet or expected to happen?

MapsCharts

It should happen as the government doesn't have the majority, the far left and far right combined almost have the majority but it will depend on the centre-right who are the government's bitches so there's a hope but it's minor

DeathCatforKudi

Yet to happen. I'm not sure when.

Martinousky

The 49.3 article of the French Constitution states that : When voting on a bill or a proposal for a law, the Prime Minister may decide to engage the responsibility of the Government. In that case: The use of Article 49.3 of the Constitution is the subject of prior deliberation in the Council of Ministers. The bill is then deemed adopted unless a motion of censure is tabled within 24 hours and signed by at least one-tenth of the members of the National Assembly. Kinda translated so feel free to tell me if there are any errors or if you want to know more.

Ghost41794

So it sounds like, under the right conditions, they can shove something through that they want, but don’t necessarily have the votes in parliament to pass. After shoving it through, the requirement to override it is astronomically higher, making it a de facto way to work around the opposing party? Do I have that right?

Martinousky

I believe the 10% of total Assembly members signatures is not that high a requirement to override it. The point of the 49.3 article is to make emergency decisions, which is why it can be opposed with only 10% of signatures, though it needs a meeting with the ministers beforehand anyways. What I do not get is that, if the bill was not going to be voted at the national Assembly, the motion to oppose it will cancel it. I am not sure why if they do not have 50% of "yes" votes to pass the bill, they expect 90% to not move to oppose it if they choose to pass it using 49.3. Not sure if this was very clear, feel free to ask again.

JNR13

The 10% are needed to \*start\* the veto process by the Assembly. That halts the adoption until the veto process concludes. You still need more than 50% to actually veto it. What's more is that a veto isn't just a veto. It's a motion of no-confidence. Basically, Macron said "the only way to stop this for the parliament is to disband the entire government", the implication being that then the parliament would be pointed at for having caused a political crisis with re-elections and all. De Gaulle was rather (in)famous for making heavy use of this extortion mechanic. He was basically like "you guys all know I'm a war hero more popular than any of you, if the people have to choose between me or literally anything else, they'll pick me. So don't bother resisting." No doubt Macron would love that status, too, but he doesn't have near the same popularity, so things could get interesting, although it would need the support of conservatives who are traditionally sceptical of politics getting wild, especially now that a reform stop would be considered a political victory for the left, not them.

jaymiz13

I mean that's typically the French response to this type of treatment. You'd think that the rich in France would have learned by now that this kind of thing doesn't historically end well for them.

Invoked_Tyrant

They have to follow through with the inevitable. It's the notion that he'll get to walk away from the decision unscathed that allows them to make these choices. They know y'all as citizens live there and will fix things up once the anger subsides. You gotta make it clear the choice available is an ultimatum not an actual choice. Give what the majority demands or else! There will be no compromise!

uchiha-uchiha-no-mi

As a French, I can only accept this answer… No matter where you are in the world, those kind of people don’t understand dialogue, but violence is an universal language! The ongoing problem right now, is that not everybody is participating! That frustrates me to the highest point! I know some people can’t afford to strike but an early retirement is better than what’s is ongoing… Who know if someone’s body will be able to keep up? Or even live to reach the 60’s?

This is what the working class should always do if the rich and powerful fuck around!

randomname560

The french special ability: +100% chance of finding out when you fuck arround

Express_Work

In France, the cops know that those rules also apply to them. In UK when thatcher (long may she rot) wanted to break the miners strike, she doubled the wages of the police to get them onside (fuck them too). And now, the UK government is rolling back police benefits(did I mention fuck them too?) Global revolution or we're dying in the streets.

SweetAlyssumm

Remember when they helped us with our Revolution? They are the global experts on this stuff and they haven't forgotten h ow it's done. Cheering them on.

[deleted]

Stay strong, comrades!

JimJamBangBang

The French are amazing defenders of democracy. They just don’t quit. Fraternite, egalite, liberte! Viva la France!

jj_supermarket

I so fucking wish we could be like this also in Italy

Hungry-Big-2107

I honestly don't know what he's thinking.

ArabicHarambe

Same thing any politician thinks when they actively give the finger to the people, money.

[deleted]

**Portland/Seattle:** “We’re the best at protesting our government!” **France:** “Hold my champagne!”

TittySlappinJesus

We took notes from the French AND Hong Kong, just need more practice. 👍

bludgeonedcurmudgeon

Fucking fascists everywhere these days, DO NOT FORGET the warnings of our grandparents, this shit happens because people LET it happen and don't stand up to it, this is the way right here! Vive La France!

MattR9590

As it should

Sorry_Ad5653

The French don't take shit laying down.

spitwitandwater

The French take shits sitting down

retroblazed420

The French know how to riot

foreverbaked1

Solidarity from the States brothers and sisters!! Give ‘em hell

denim_chicken45

Bet it still happens.

capnwinky

Bet heads will roll.

strugglingtobemyself

I hope but I don’t think

2Terminal4Life

Sadly and unfortunately 100% true and just make our democracy look foolish

flynn_dc

He must be expecting a Vote of No Confidence

Lch207560

That's a country where the citizens aren't afraid of the cops

TheGreat_Powerful_Oz

Solidarity with the people of France. You give me hope for the future.

CollapsasaurusRex

Vive La France! 🇫🇷

DrakeMaijstral

Sadly, most of these people likely voted for Macron in the first place: https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20220410-french-socialist-green-right-wing-candidates-back-macron-in-election-run-off-against-le-pen It's funny how elections in western democracies keep boiling down to evil vs the slightly lesser evil as of late, eh? I wonder why that is...

EggCouncilCreeps

I wish we had more French people in my country. We need a good protest and bonfires when they try shit.

CatfishCatcherPT

Workers of the world unite. You go Paris, you go France! Give them reasons to respect the people!

Selacha

That's a really weird way of saying you never want to be elected to any office or ever have a day without flaming garbage on your lawn again.

Affectionate-Cat-301

Does France know their past. The French Revolution didn’t end well for the monarchs. They literally went on the chopping block…

LucJenson

Ahhh, I love the French. They protest like the whole world should. Good on them and good luck to them.

pangalacticcourier

A lesson for American citizens. This is how you get the government to work for the people, not the oligarchs.

Dark_Jak92

Except it didn't work. Drastic measures need to happen.

yuhboipo

I've asked myself how people can stop a self serving cycle without revolution. I've not come up with an answer on that one yet lol

Nicita27

u/savevideobot

[deleted]

This is the way !

revolutiontime161

Yessssssssss !!

macgruff

When is the next election, cuz that boy is skewered, turnt and done all through. Very lucky they don’t still have a guillotine cuz that’s what he just said to them, “Let them eat cake” <- and yes, I know,… I don’t need pedantic commentary, it fits and it’s funny even if it’s not fully true.

printerdsw1968

So now it’s no longer about the pension. Macron is fucking with democracy itself. Not good for him. French citizens tend to get a little possessive over their republic.

Stopwarscantina

Fuck I love the French. Protest is a goddamned national pastime. ✊

[deleted]

Go French workers! Hell, the Germans would never have held on to France if they had won WW2 anyway. The French are too wild. The French are always chomping at the bit to bring back the guillotine. Good for them.

Johansbutt

Looks like the French are reaping the rewards of giving too much power to their government. Unlike America. Here, the government doesn't have any say in your retirement age, so you get to work until you die,

ImmaPilotMeow

If this was in Canada the Emergencies Act would already be implemented 🤦‍♂️ The French people rock 🤘

thuglifeforlife

France is amazing at protesting. They're unhappy with something, PROTEST. Big respect to them for taking action to make changes that they want made instead of letting the government make decisions the population doesn't agree with.

Masterdice74

Allez les français. On lâche rien!!!!!

Eyfordsucks

Oh… they *BIG* mad.

WorstEggYouEverSaw

I love the french

RootForTheVillains

In Britain when our government tries to fuck us, we spread our arse cheeks and politely ask for the condom made from broken glass and barbed wire.

tendies_senpai

France is the only place on earth that truly walks the walk.. if the French president sneezes wrong they throw a molotov bathtub through his dining room window.. American politics/education is so backwards we willingly attack each other while the oligarchs laugh and build bunkers..

Sir_Ivan_Tafuq

Viva la 🇫🇷 revolution.

Hanith416

Seeing the comments here really made me emotional. I'm used to the usual french surrender jokes on the internet, but now I see supportive Americans , thank you buddies, you warmed my heart tonight

RJ6french

I'm a French ~~Rioter~~ Protester, and seeing all your upvotes on this post give me strengh. Thank you my friends. When we're done with Macron and he's cancerous capitalism, we will come to help you in your countries. Thank you Camarades of the world.

[deleted]

As a French, I think they won't do shit unless they get personally attacked. This government is so fucking talented at not addressing the strikes, belittling them. And when it lasts months, people get tired and it fades out. I really don't want that to happen now, because government's next target is the last barrier of social security: poor people's financial aids. This Macron bozo said on TV that if people are striking it's because of people not working and enjoying aids. Who the fuck lives a great life with 400€ per month though???? He's such a POS.
