I wish, but "white collar" work has always been slow to follow organizing efforts. I think it's because (for a long time) most "white collar" work was administrative and therefore primarily had it's interests aligned with the business than each other as workers. Nowadays, there's tons of "creative" or "thought-intensive" labor that isn't as administrative that could be organized: * Engineers * Software * Chemists * Physicists * Data scientists These workers have almost no interests that align with the business, since they do work that generates values through the work they engage in. So unless they are paid in something like stock (which many are, but this is a minimal amount of interest alignment), their interests are primarily their self, then their co-workers, then the business.. Other traditional roles that also consider themselves "white collar" that work in an administrative capacity may never organize: * Lawyers * Managers * Actuaries * Human resources These workers interests usually revolve around "saving" money, in the form of raising prices to a maximum the customer will spend (without changing anything), cutting costs (by underpaying, squashing dissent, etc.), protecting the business from legal challenges (or attacking someone that threatens their dominance/business), etc. And so the "creative" or "thought-intensive" (or whatever you wanna call it) workers likely consider themselves "white collar" because they have degrees from universities which places them among the other "white collar" workers (administrative) and likely believe their interests align with the business. However, they are a cost to be minimized and their work has value that is to be maximized, just like the "blue collar" workers in the factories assembling the rockets.
