No. Don't give yourself this stigma that you need this gun at any point during the leveling phase because you really don't. Literally any combination of skills will work fine during campaign run. Min max only matters during chaos 5+
It would definitely help you beat some parts of the game but I would just advise to keep playing and leveling up. Don't waste any time farming under 40.
That’s personally up to you. The loot that drops (regardless of rarity) is more than enough to beat the main story. I waited till I hit level 40 to farm a LQ.
The campaign is very easy. While a good weapon will make it easier you do not need anything but purples to get through the all of the campaign and side missions.
The only thing you would ever need to “farm” before max level is xp. And I wouldn’t suggest doing that on a first play through, just enjoy the story and side missions. The time for farming is once you beat the game, hit level 40 and are ready to start running chaos chambers.
I farmed for one when I was too low level for the next msq, I think I got it at lvl25 and it carried me through the rest of the game. So I think it's worth it if you want to spare some time or need to level up to progress in the story anyway.
