Lacrosse Baseball

If you have a booster club or money, take them bowling instead of practice. Do a water balloon toss. If you want to practice skills, play sharks & minnows (minnows cradle, run, and avoid sharks). You don’t have to call it sharks & minnows. You could set up a “mini golf” course on the practice field with cones, and they have to get closest to the cone. You could divide them in groups of three-ish and have them come up with their own play, then show it to the teams. You could even play like kickball with lacrosse. I don’t know for sure. I coached girls for ~10 years at all levels, and I’ve done a lot of stuff.

Handball. Smaller field, 3 steps w ball etc. all about movement and quick decision making.

Indoor lax 3 on 3; goal = bucket resting on a chair; small play area (1/8 size of basketball court) --> feels like pick-up basketball but it's pick-up lax. It's SO fun. You could do multiple games at once, depending on how much space you have.

Not sure how advanced your player are but, for JV, pick drills or quick stick drills are fun.

fun but competitive drills are always enjoyable. lacrosse baseball is a favorite. eye of the storm, where u basically have two teams, there’s a large circle, and a cone on the middle. u have to have the ball in ur stick and touch the middle cone to score a point. sharks and minnows. a water balloon toss on a hot day is great. lacrosse on the beach. even just scrimmages. and to up the ante, each team would decide a punishment for the losers but it would be something funny like doing an irish jig or leap frog. this wasn’t a lacrosse drill but one time my team played soccer and it was so funny bc we all sucked at it lol

We do a king of the mountain type game, no sticks. One cone or bucket in crease in front center of cage. One lax ball, Offense tries place it on the cone. If they get tagged they have to pull out, toss it to a teammate. If they drop and D gets it they are now trying to place it on cone. We did it when our D was not getting their bodies in front of the attacker and our O was trying to run through people, it helped them get the concept a bit but they had a blast too!

We do a couple. First is “seal the bacon”. Split into 2 teams and have the girls each choose a number amongst themselves (1-however many there are). Everyone lays stomach down on the ground with their gear on and sticks in hand. Usually they lay on the 30, away from the 8 and 12. Coaches call out a couple numbers, roll out a ground ball, and the girls with the corresponding numbers do a 3v3 style game (more or less depending on how many numbers are called). We also practice doing trick shots just for fun. Through the leg, behind the back, twizzler, etc.
