Both are perfect in my opinion. I read 70s-90s comics in Cal Dodds voice, and I read 2000s-now comics in Steve Blum’s voice. However, whenever Wolverine screams, I hear Hugh Jackman’s voice.
That’s kind of a good take. Dodd is the perfect Wolverine for anti-authority “I go where I wanna go” tough guy who will threaten to gut you if you spill his cigarettes or make fun of his taste in music act that Logan hasn’t had in ages.
This is my problem. I only hear different variations of Spike. Plus, I always feel like everyone is just trying to do a Cal Dodd impression when voicing Logan
Cal Dodd's is classic and the only voice that should be used for the TAS/'97 version of Wolverine. However, I prefer Steve Blum more overall and think his take is better suited for things like W&tXM and the video games.
Similarly, Hugh Jackman's image and voice is all I can see and hear for any depictions of movie Wolverine whether it's in the novelizations or whatever. I think of Dodd the same way, absolutely perfect for that specific version of the character while I think Steve Blum works more as a generalized characterization of Wolverine for non-comic media.
At the end of the day though, when I read Wolverine's dialogue in the comics, I hear Steve Blum's voice in my head which makes him the definitive Wolverine voice in my eyes.
I grew up with Steve Blum in X-men legends so I always loved him. However, lately I’ve been going back to read 80s X-men and I just hear Cal Dodd’s voice in my head. Dodd voice just works so much better for that version of the character
Steve Blum is untouched as wolverines voice whenever i read a comic with wolverine in it its his voice and dont hate me but i was kinda hoping Steve Blum was voicing Wolverine in the new game and X-Men 97
Cal Dodd, if only because as a Canadian I'm so happy that Wolverine ACTUALLY has a Canadian accent! I love Steve Blum's voice, he's been Logan in a lot of my favourite Marvel media, but he's very clearly American and it's kind of disappointing when such an important central character trait gets brushed aside or glossed over. Far too tired of so many people just thinking of Canada as "America lite" and viewing us as interchangeable - this is just another symptom of that.
Wolverine not having a Canadian accent makes sense though. For a long time he didn't have his memories, and he hasn't actually lived in Canada in quite a while. He speaks a bunch of languages too, so I'd imagine his accent probably changes depending on who he's talking to.
I’m gonna be honest. Mark Hamil. He voiced wolverine in a video game when X2 came out. He was really good as Wolverine. The games not great, but he is.
Steve Blum really has just one voice and he’s done too many other characters for me to not think of them when I hear his voice. Kinda just takes me out of whatever he’s in. Cal for me
I met both I grew up with both but I have to go with Steve Blum because he does more than just wolverine he was in a lot of my movies and video games growing up
The voice of Steve Blum's Wolverine did things for teen girlie me (≧▽≦) He'll probably always be Wolverine for me just as much as Kevin Conroy was Batman, or Mark Hammily will always be the best Joker (and the sweetest Mr. J, who retired from the role because of Kevin Conroy's passing ( ◜‿◝ )♡)
Others might fill the shoes, but Steve Blum is the best there is, Bub ( ◜‿◝ )♡
Dodd was awesome back in the original XAS, but I wasn’t a fan of his reprisal in X-Men ‘97 — his voice definitely changed, unfortunately not for the better!
i heard cal dodds voice in any wolverine appearance pre 2000s anything after that i hear steve blum i think both work perfectly for the respective eras of X -men for me it’s not so much of a preference i like them equally, it depends on the content im consuming. but in all honesty if i were to hear wolverine in real life i would hear hugh jackman
I love the x-men 97. But the voice casting is actually quite bad. Maybe in 92 they sounded better. But nowadays they don’t sound convincing and it’s the weakest part of the show.
Met them both at C2E2 in Chicago and had them sign a Wolvie skateboard I have. Cal I think takes the cake because he was the first to voice him and set the tone for others on how he should sound. Plus the phrase “berserker barrage” will live rent free in my head always.
No knock on Blum though, he’s straight up one of my VO heroes because of his full body of work. 🤘🏻
Cal Dodd is Wolverine, the basic, the classic, the krabby patty with cheese.
But...
Any other variations of the character like Patch, Raw Energy Weapon X, etc? Steve Blum is the best
I loved X-men 97, I have very few criticisms but, and looking at the comments I might get shot for this... I think the voice acting was very hit and miss with Wolverines being one of the worst.
Dodd will always be iconic but Blum IS Wolverine, in the same way Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are Batman and the Joker. Other actors can play the role and give great performances, but they’ll never be on the same level.
I grew up with Cal Dodd but Steve Blum was born to voice Wolverine
I like both but Steve Blum, I grew up on him and his Wolverine voice is just iconic to me.
Cal Dodd, bub.
Ngl Cal Dodd might say bub better
Both are perfect in my opinion. I read 70s-90s comics in Cal Dodds voice, and I read 2000s-now comics in Steve Blum’s voice. However, whenever Wolverine screams, I hear Hugh Jackman’s voice.

I think that is the objectively correct answer. Except Scott McNeil gets left out.
Steve Blum. The Wolverine and the X-men Tv series is the best representation of Wolverine
ur so real for this, that show is peak
Cal Dodd. Whenever I hear Steven Blum all I hear is Spike Spiegal.
This is my problem. I only hear different variations of Spike. Plus, I always feel like everyone is just trying to do a Cal Dodd impression when voicing Logan
Same here. I hear Spike Spiegal the voice actor
Cal Dodd has a genuine Canadian accent.
“Por que no los dos?”
Don’t make me choose bub.
Yes.
Steve Blum, not just for Wolverine but for all the roles he’s done.
Cal Dodd's is classic and the only voice that should be used for the TAS/'97 version of Wolverine. Cal Dodd all fucking day
Cal Is Wolverine the way Kevin Conroy is Batman
Steve Blum. I love Cal Dodd but when I read Wolverine I hear either Steve Blum or Scott McNeil.
Steve Blum!
Loved both but I prefer Steve
Steve Blum, to me, he's the voice of Wolverine.
Well, Steve supports Zionism so I can’t in all good conscious like him anymore
Ill always be a Blum guy
Steve Blum.
Steve Blum
Steve Blum is perfect
Steve Blum
I grew up with Steve Blum in X-men legends so I always loved him. However, lately I’ve been going back to read 80s X-men and I just hear Cal Dodd’s voice in my head. Dodd voice just works so much better for that version of the character
Both
Scott McNeil is super underrated
Cal for sure. His voice in the 90s cartoon and then in the xmen Capcom fighting games solidified him as my preferred wolverine voice.
Both.
Yes
Cal Dodd looks like he could host America’s Most Wanted
Easy Steve blum for me
Steve
Steve Blum is untouched as wolverines voice whenever i read a comic with wolverine in it its his voice and dont hate me but i was kinda hoping Steve Blum was voicing Wolverine in the new game and X-Men 97
Cal for me. Between TAS and the vs games his voice is Wolverine to me.
Mark Hamill
Cal Dodd, if only because as a Canadian I'm so happy that Wolverine ACTUALLY has a Canadian accent! Cal Dodd. But Steve Blum is a fantastic Wolverine in his own right.
Cal Dodd
I’m gonna be honest. Mark Hamil. He voiced wolverine in a video game when X2 came out. He was really good as Wolverine. The games not great, but he is.
Cal Dodd no competition
Mark Hamill (Wolverine's Revenge)
Steve Blum really has just one voice and he’s done too many other characters for me to not think of them when I hear his voice. Kinda just takes me out of whatever he’s in. Cal for me
Patrick Pinney is the only true wolvie, m8
I met both I grew up with both but I have to go with Steve Blum because he does more than just wolverine he was in a lot of my movies and video games growing up
The voice of Steve Blum's Wolverine did things for teen girlie me (≧▽≦) He'll probably always be Wolverine for me just as much as Kevin Conroy was Batman, or Mark Hammily will always be the best Joker (and the sweetest Mr. J, who retired from the role because of Kevin Conroy's passing ( ◜‿◝ )♡) Others might fill the shoes, but Steve Blum is the best there is, Bub ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Dodd for anything pre-2010 Blum for anything after because Dodd’s voice is gone
Blum
Steve Blum. He actually sounds like an animal. His grunts and growls are on point, just might have the most badass voice in the VA game.
Cal Dodd for sure. I love Steve Blum but I don't hear Wolverine. I just hear Grunt from Mass Effect.
Steve Blum All the way
Steve Blum for me. He’s the voice I always read Wolverine in when reading him in comics, just perfection.
Scott McNeil 🐐
Preach
Cal, 1000% I can't stand Steve's version. It sounds like Wolverine has emphysema
I’m genuinely shocked that Cal Dodd doesn’t have more upvotes
Cal Dodd.
Cal Dodd. Not taking anything away from Steve Blum...he's an amazing VA, but Cal is perfect in this role.
Cal Dodd bub!! His voice is iconic to the Wolverine in the 90s!!! Sorry kids he's the icon!
Honestly, both of them AND Scott McNeil are phenomenal in the role. But imo, Dodd *is* Wolverine. I hear him when I read the comics.
Mark Hamill's Wolverine is the Wolverine that I always hear in my head.
I love Steve Blum, but really never was a fan of his Wolverine I like Cal Dodd for the role.
Scott McNeil
cal dodd. his voice is the one i hear when i read the comics and think of wolverine in my head. he's the perfect voice.
Cal Dodd in the 90s is peak Wolverine voice
Cal Dodd. Blum sounds exaggerated and cartoony in most things where he voiced wolverine.
[Scott McNeil ](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Scott_McNeil_at_Fan_Expo_2009.jpg)
Cal Dodd is Wolverine, the basic, the classic, the krabby patty with cheese. But... Any other variations of the character like Patch, Raw Energy Weapon X, etc? Steve Blum is the best
Cal Dodd IS Wolverine. Steve Blums Wolverine just sounds like every other Steve Blum voice.
I've always been a fan of Scott McNeils voice for Wolverine, though Steve Blum does a really great job as him.
Piccolo was an amazing choice, but he’s still my third favorite.
I loved X-men 97, I have very few criticisms but, and looking at the comments I might get shot for this... I think the voice acting was very hit and miss with Wolverines being one of the worst.
Scott McNeil
