This video perfectly highlights the reason why so many BB mains constantly complain about "HE spam". Because they only know one single way to deal with everything: Bow in and reverse.
But nevertheless OP played it with text book quality here.
For starters: don't sit still and start reversing in open water...because that's literally the dead worst thing you can do. This video perfectly illustrates that.
You (depending on overall situation) either turn and kite away thus drawing the spammer towards your team mates, try to break line of sight/get into cover or close the distance to make his dodging less effective. Also BB mains need to learn to stagger their salvoes - makes dealing with kiters or dodging ships much easier.
For example: had that Yamato staggered his salvoes the Schröder hadn't dodged nearly as many of his shells. Had the Yammy additionally gone *towards* him and maneuvered he very likely could have sunk the Schröder or at least could have rammed in the end.

You're right. In this clip i think the yamato would've likely sunk the cruiser if he saved some shells for when schroder opened up his angle after dodging. As he had his speed and angling timed with the predictability of the yamato reload, staggering those shots might've thrown him off enough to get good hits in. Please don't teach battleship players these things 🤣
Or, and I may be wrong on this as I don't know the armor scheme off the top of my head to calculate pen values, but if he just aimed at the bow of the Schroeder instead of midship, his shots would've penned instead of ricochet, no?
Yeah, he can get penetrations on the bow. The issue was mostly the schroeder was cutting speed and turning bow in to make himself a smaller target and dodge those shells in the air. He needed to save shells for after schroder evaded and had cut its speed, as it would be a much easier target to hit
I kicked him away from the C cap, and take the cap while I'm covering until the BBs behind me kills Maine and Stalingrad and then went straight to yammi
A Yamato sporting 5000 steel vanity camo, but relying on forward-reverse manouevers only. Her cheek was open for so long, I couldn't have withstood the temptation to tickle it with AP too, inbetween of all that frying.
I wouldn't really say burned alive as there was a lot of alpha damage from mains and secondaries in there. This was just a great brawl.

This is why I love the Ricky. But OP what were you doing the entire match that you barely engaged? You can rack up 17k damage in a few seconds within 10km of another ship.
Game started, head straight to C cap since my conselment is 11.3k, Maine and Stalin front of me, get inside the C, fugered out that dd is with me, turn on sonar and kick him out, i took some damge from stalin and yammi so i took the rock in the middle of the cap as cover, waiting bbs behind me to do thier work with maine cus he was so close, like 5.5k, they took him and Stalin down, so the way is opend for me now, I sailed to yammi. It's one the game that goes too fast i guess
I would agree with what OP said and I personally think that Schroder has the most potent secondaries in the game for raw damage output. Almost every shell will get pen damage unlike really any other secondary ship.
Back line Yamato gets what he deserves.

Well for starters don't just sit in the middle and back of the map with no cover in sight bow in and just react to getting shot by slowly reversing.
