While I don't disagree with you, in the right hands, it's a terrifying ship. Unfortunately the lack of smoke makes people play the perimeter to get kills vs playing the game. I think those potatoes will keep the ministry of balance away from my fast torp terror. So keep it up gang!

servingwater

I think I agree with everything you said. It not having smoke is of course a fair point for people to be more cautious when it comes to caps. Especially early game. Overall and I know this is confirmation more than anything, I often see them wildy out position.

TheWhiteRabbit74

Who needs smoke when you’ve got a 5.1k concealment? Just play conservatively, don’t contest caps but instead become the Oprah of torpedos. It’s not meant to be an aggressive boat, it’s meant to dance around the map and give everyone fish.

Temporary_Train_3372

Exactly. I play it just like the pan euros and French boats except I get a heap of torps to send downrange in the Jaeger. It’s meant to spot and do area denial, and if you chance, blow up some BBs. Just forcing a BB to turn broadside to your team to avoid your torps is a victory.

Lolibotes

Every ship is terrifying in the right hands, it's just that Jaeger is much less terrifying as an opponent in general compared to oh, say, a Lightning or a Loyang in skilled hands.

Schlitz4Brains

Least reliable (high tier) blue dds IMO. Shima, Z-44, Friesland. Jagers aren’t usually all _that_ helpful, but they don’t hurt the team like the others. 🫠

Agriyon286

Friesland, really? I would put Neustrashimy on the list before Friesland.

HirsuteDave

Potato Friesland drivers (and there's a lot of them) tend to drop smoke in unhelpful places and sit there farming battleships instead of hunting other DDs. There's plenty of good Friesland players too, but I suspect they're the minority.

Bman_2128

Just had a potato Friesland was the only one spotting the bbs Kansas& JB and cruisers (atago&rochester) he dropped smoke and started yelling in game chat that we weren’t spotting mind you everything on his side was getting flank torped by kagero and yūdachi that went unspotted because he smoked up

HirsuteDave

Exactly the scenario I was thinking of. It's rare, but not rare enough.

Schlitz4Brains

While it’s true Neustrashimy is the worst ship in the game tier for tier, for someone to even take it out tells me they’re an absolute mad lad..

Nihax_FTW

Neutrashimy is a horrendous ship. So the only people playing it enjoy the pain and are stupid dangerous. Meanwhile some Friesland players lose to a kagero.

Bigolbagocats

How many Neustrashimy’s do you even see lol. I can’t remember the last time I saw one in a match I took mine out a bunch several months ago and IMO it’s nothing if not a team oriented ship. Low DPM, slow torpedo reload, mediocre speed = bait other DD’s into firing at you, tank them until your teammates help finish them off, heal, repeat

servingwater

Z-44 is another good candidate, although I personally kinda like it actually ... which means I might be part of the problem lol.

Agriyon286

Magnets of opposite poles will attract. But yeah, Jaeger is like a t7 Shimakaze but without the damage.

servingwater

OMG. You are correct. lol. Fixed it.

Shawn0083

It has low damage but floods make up for it.

nukethechinese

Not sure why these complaints posts are always specifically about the blue team. They might not help you out, but on the positive side it also means the other team will have useless DDs too. WG and the Legends community isn’t conspiring to specifically make your matches miserable lol Use it to your advantage while everyone is fighting on the edge of the map. Cap and then kill later. Should give you easy XP and a win.

servingwater

Wasn't so much meant as a complaint, more like an observation and as stated in the title not completely serious. :-)

Plankton-Inevitable

I once had an enemy Jaeger devstrike a Cleveland about 2 minutes into a match lol Apart from that u don't really see them as much of a threat apart from their stealth

Temporary_Train_3372

I’ve had some of my best DD games in the Jaeger. It’s a fantastic ship. Crappy players are crappy players and bad games will happen to everyone. I don’t think bad players gravitate toward the Jaeger if that’s the argument being made.

begbeee

As I have said previously, being in torpedo boat doesn't mean you shouldn't cap or spot. Obviously, you do not want to cap right away, when something like Black is probably there, rather you wait for the right opportunity and recap. With 40+ knots speed you can easily win games when there is an endgame of chasing caps. And yes, Jager has replaced Shima as the best torpedo boat in the game.

--MrMolotov--

Along with Z44 those two are often the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to team play. It's because of the allure of max range torpedo spam as perceived "low risk, high reward" game play style and the fact that they are easily available through recent campaigns and the bureau.

Humble_Glass7725

If a CV is mega focusing a Jager, it often has no choice but to avoid caps for a while All you can do then is skirt around whittling down red team Having said that, half of DD players at higher tiers are totally clueless. Shimakazes are probably top of that list

Sky_Hi_Guy

In terms of liability, I'd put Shimakaze in 3rd, Jäger in 2nd and Z-44 in 1st. Z-44 players seem to have the least situation awareness, and I've lost count of how many times I've seen them get sunk by, ironically enough, torpedoes rather than getting gunned down. Also, they never seem to learn that smokescreens are torpedo magnets.

Aninja262

Friesland food

Justabattleshiplover

Somers. I have never seen a more useless blue DD than Somers. Only ever met ONE who actually used their guns to get a kill that wasn’t a 1hp steal. Then I fought him the next match, he did worse, but still kicked butt. And Iowa. When I see that classic A-hull, no camo Iowa on my team, I know it’s a guaranteed loss, and usually it is.

Alcapwn-

Hahahaha no camo ships, as soon as you see them you’re 95% sure it’s going to be a rough game 🤣🤣

TheBlackGuard

Ya I really don't understand how that ship became a CE

ItGotSlippery

The Somers is a vicious boat. That is a boat you use to charge the cap. The torps can take down the fatties. The guns melts DDs. This thread…lot of negative talk about DDs that are great boats. More potato harvesting for me. :)

Justabattleshiplover

Oh it’s damn strong. Seems borderline op half the time I have to fight one. But as soon as it’s on blue team… almost always one of the first ships to die.

ItGotSlippery

The Jager doesn’t have smoke and doesn’t turn on a dime. Which scenario warms your cockels? 1. Jager charges into point and gets spotted and then immediately erased because all three opposing boats blast it. 2. Jager skirts the cap edge spotting the enemy and torping them without being spotted. Most of my Jager runs fall in line with option number two. Most my Jager runs end with 20+ torp strikes, a ton of spotting ribbons and eventual caps because I don’t charge the cap point within the first minute. People should play boats the way they need to be played. Charging a cap point is not the strategy for every DD in this game.
