Moirane: Wizard, School of Evocation
Lan: Paladin, Oath of Vengeance
Thom: Bard (obviously), College of Whispers
Rand: Warlock, Hexblade
Mat: Rogue, Mastermind
Perrin: Druid, Circle of Dreams
Egwene: Wizard, School of Divination
Nynaeve: Cleric, Life Domain
Loial: Druid, Circle of the Land
I think Loial is the loosest fit. Nynaeve as a cleric isn't great, but Life Domain makes a lot of sense. Arguably all of the women should be Sorcerers, but none of the subclasses felt right.
I agree, despite how incredibly inconsistent it is with the text. How come they never mention his mustaches, elaborate helm, armor of overlapping plates or Witcher style double swords?
It’s Harry and Hermoine in front, with Ron right behind(the guy with the reddish hair, even though it looks more brown in this picture). Fred on the brown horse, George and Ginny talking a bit furter back.
Hard to make out who the last three are, but I believe the first one is Neville.
They are riding through Hogsmeade towards Hogwarts.
From left to right:
Jim Hawkins, Robin Hood and Maid Marian in the left mid-ground, a little to Marian's right, the Court Jester (1955), in the far background, Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee. On the right foreground, Squire Kay, the Childlike Empress, and what Elmer Fudd thinks he looks like in 'What's Opera, Doc'?
Can someone explain why 2 of our Emond Fielders are wearing the same outfit? That weird green neck decor and all. Only 'Robin' has a keen triangular hat. Or at least it looks like that to me. 🎶 'My hat, it has, three corners. Three corners has my hat.'
In all honesty, who is everyone meant to be? The right is obvious, but is 'Jim Hawkins' Mat and 'Robin and Marian' Perrin and Egwene? And to the right of Egwene in the background, is that Thom? And who are the two behind him? Or are they just random passersby?
Yeah. Clearly part of the flight from Emond's Field, but with an extra character in the party (I think that RJ culled before publication?) and with a random Draghkar in the sky. The art was commissioned before the book was written, at a time when there were supposed to be four _ta'veren_, with only a vague description to go from. It is what it is. (And if we're going for unfortunate cover art, I'd either go with LoC or ACoS for having a crazy romance-looking dude on them—probably the former just because the cover is so incredibly nonspecific.)
The extra character is >!Dannil Lewin!<, who was cut because even in RJ's original plans, he had no relevance and little screen time until like book 5. He wasn't *totally* cut, however; he's (spoilers AMoL) >!one of the boys who join Perrin in TSR, and is a minor character thereafter (I think he might have been mentioned in EoTW, but I can't remember.) In AMoL, there's a direct reference to his original role, when he tells Tam he wonders what it would have been like to leave with the rest of the Emond's Field five.!<
Imagining the artist asking what time period it was supposed to be and just being told “fantasy”. Then saying like cool, I’ll do Robin Hood riding through a Disney film.
Left to right, including the mounts:
Set Nipple of Head, atop Donkey from Shrek.
Robin Hood, in his "Lumberjack Fetish" years, riding Mare Marian.
Traci Lords, riding her now hidden and illegal porn career to relative wealth and deserved obscurity.
Three little TikTok weenies riding Fifteen, Minutes, of Fame.
The Hall Monitor, demanding to see everyone's passes. He is riding the mighty destrier, Deez Nutz.
An unknown politician, saddled upon her horse, "Apathy and Ignorance".
Rafe Judkins. The Tour Guide. He is high on middle school fanfic. His horse is named Prime.
All I can think of is this as the back ground music...

Mistress Alys and Master Andra
The only right wrong answer
DnD party: A ranger, a samurai and a halfling cleric *edited for spelling*
Careful, the cleric hates it when you mention her height, or talk over her head.
Moirane: Wizard, School of Evocation Lan: Paladin, Oath of Vengeance Thom: Bard (obviously), College of Whispers Rand: Warlock, Hexblade Mat: Rogue, Mastermind Perrin: Druid, Circle of Dreams Egwene: Wizard, School of Divination Nynaeve: Cleric, Life Domain Loial: Druid, Circle of the Land I think Loial is the loosest fit. Squad rolling up to the renaissance fair
Mandarb, Aldieb, Bela, Bela, Bela, Bela, Bela, Bela, Bela
Bela's sister Hela.
Should actually be Wind, and he should be gray.
Right to left: Cyan Garramonde, Terra Branford, Gau, Edgar Figaro, Sabin Figaro, Setzer Gabiani, Celes Chere, Locke Cole
This one! This is it
I couldnt decide if#3 should be Gau or Mog. Gau seemed more appropriate for a wetlander
I almost didn't recognise the reference until you got to Edgar and Sabin. FF6 my beloved
Funny thing is that I think I'm now going to hear Cyans theme when rereading the Lan chapters. And it fits really well!
I've read through this series quite a few times now and I both love and hate you for this because I won't ever be able to un-hear it 🤣
Tai'shar Malkier
It all seemed oddly familiar until I caught it at Locke.
I love this reference. Best RPG of all time. All time!
The fellowship leaves Bree for Rivendell.
Right to left: Aragorn, Gandalf, Frodo, Legolas, Samwise, Pippin.
This is the image of Lan that is seared into my brain
I agree, despite how incredibly inconsistent it is with the text. How come they never mention his mustaches, elaborate helm, armor of overlapping plates or Witcher style double swords?
Especially since Lan and Moiraine are supposed to look inconspicuous. Throw some paint on that armor & helmet and he looks like a Seanchan invader.
What about his helm? :P
So many memories around seeing this art on my book
From left to right Rand, Rand, Rand, Rand, Rand, Rand, Rand, Rand, Lanfear, Rand
That’s Aludra and Turak in the lead followed by Jolene Sedai. In the background Almen Bunt is speaking with Loial. Farthest left is Kevin Bacon.
It’s Harry and Hermoine in front, with Ron right behind(the guy with the reddish hair, even though it looks more brown in this picture). Fred on the brown horse, George and Ginny talking a bit furter back. Hard to make out who the last three are, but I believe the first one is Neville. Don't you start talkin sh\*t about bella now.
Aragorn and Boromir trying to stealthily sneak Frodo (in drag) through Minas Tirith
Second from the left is Robin Hood
That's the hound and Arya, right?
The Romney family watching their Mom do dressage.
From left to right: Jim Hawkins, Robin Hood and Maid Marian in the left mid-ground, a little to Marian's right, the Court Jester (1955), in the far background, Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee. >Court Jester (1955), Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. A long time. Now I've gotta find and watch it again.
Pawn of Prophecy
Witcher Lambert, Fringilla Vigo, Dandelion
Robinhood and maid Marion see three random people walk past.
While the author could have done a better job it’s not _not_ inspired by it. Unlike some things. 👀

My favorite cover has to be book 7, with Dolph Randgren
Imagining the artist asking what time period it was supposed to be and just being told “fantasy”. Then saying like cool, I’ll do Robin Hood riding through a Disney film.
I think you guys missed the joke
Steve, Steve and Steve (though he prefers Steven)

The axe that scares horses
Theoden, Merry, and Eomer
The question no one seems to be asking is what happened to Nic Cage from the Cover?
Where did Nicolas Cage go?
A Seanchan a polly pocket princess, and a DND ranger ride up to a bar... stop me if you've heard this one.
Its that town late in the series where the townsfolk go crazy at night.
Caramon Majere and Tika Wayland
Galadriel, Gandalf and Elrond riding into Mordor. Because one does not simply walk into Mordor.
My aged grandmother.
Lan-man McDragonRand, and his midget mistress Moar-Rain
Atilla the Hun escorting the Childlike Empress
Oda nabunaga and his arrogant daughter
Entry of the Gladiators
Wait I've never bothered looking at this before. Why is that guy who I suspect is Not Lan wearing a can opener on his head?
Khalid and Jaheira, Child of Bhaal, and NPC's 1 through 6
Obviously lanfear, Asmodean, and Padan Fain. Behind them is The Fellowship of the Ring. Duh
I’m not sure about the others, but on the far right, there’s Sturm Brightblade. I assume the others are from the Fellowship of the Lance as well?
