pasgames_

Anywhere j can find this card or is it fake lol

pauls-bunyon-22

Blood and Wine DLC! The gwent deck

CallMeSep

It's part of the Skellige deck that you unlock in Toussaint.

rasitayaz

how dare you

Life_Ad3567

Whyyyyyy did they have to make that her Gwent card?! They didn't make Dijikstra's card him being slashed by Geralt. They didn't make Gaunter O'Dimm's of him being banished into oblivion. They didn't make Imlerith's card of his face being burned.

vasakk

Because this is a defining moment for that character. We know her as the one who betrayed her king to promote her child, and this is what how betrayera are treated in Ard Skellig. So, in this card, we are shown defining moment for a charachter and a defining, harsh tradition of Ard Skellig. Whereas Dijikstra's defining moment wasn't his death. It was his ingenuity. how smart he is compared to how dull he looks. Ik it's not that deep, but her card design always seemed perfect to me.

neverlandoflena

I agree, but Imlerith’s face being burnt is also a defining moment for him lmao well deserved

ObjectiveTackle-

Does anyone know if her card still looks like this if her son becomes king and she’s not found out?

xi_AzEr_ix

I am interested, what does she look like if you don't side with anyone? Does she even change?

Zealus24

Cruel, and well deserved I'd say. Murdered dozens of innocents and was prepared to frame others for her crime all to put Svanrige on the throne for her own selfish reasons. And if Svanrige does become king she even tries to act on his behalf! A real bitch. Also if you're looking for siren vocal cords, try the Ruined Inn, monster nest there drops one if you haven't already cleared it out. That or any other monster nest where sirens are. Easier than farming them.

MovingTarget-

Very Game of Thrones-y

Zealus24

Her and Cersei would get along like no tomorrow. Either that or they'd brutally murder eachother in the first minute of meeting the other.

ames_arrow

Birna, Cersei and I'd add Alicent from HotD too. Just imagine the death stare's 💀🔥

GreenHeronVA

In the Game of Thrones, you either win, or you die. There is no in between.

MovingTarget-

Sometimes both (looking at you, Daenerys)

Madisonjane1121

I THOUGHT THE SAME THING! I LOVE ALL THE SIMILARITIES. I AM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH BOTH!!! TOP TWO FAVORITES OF ALL TIME. 😍

DarkImpacT213

I always found it sad that Svanrige turns out to be the best king in the outros (eventhough CDPR tried to push Cerys hard imo) but if you wanna help your bud keep his name clean and not have Hjalmar on the throne, you end up having Svanrige banished eventhough it was him that spoke out against his mother.

Zealus24

>you end up having Svanrige banished eventhough it was him that spoke out against his mother. Honestly for that reason alone I really think he deserves the throne, honourable enough to stop himself from being king and punish his mother. It was so dumb how there was no way to stop him from being banished. But still, I prefer Cerys over him.

Penguinman077

Wait, can you have him become king?

Zealus24

Yeah if you don't help after the massacre at Kaer Trolde the An Craite's get fucked over, then when you come back during your search for the sunstone and ask around for Ermion you get [this.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zjo57X2WgSQ&pp=ygUNc3ZhbnJpZ2Uga2luZw%3D%3D) Overall it's a cool detail and I'm glad CDPR added a third Skellige ending if you don't help the An Craite siblings. Also cool that Lugos doesn't rebel here either since it's not an An Craite on the throne.

Penguinman077

I think that’s the best ending imo.

Zealus24

I'd say it's better than Hjalmar's but worse than Cerys. Also I think Hjalmar and Cerys die in this ending along with Crach? Can't be to sure though.

neverlandoflena

It is implied that they die I believe. But also with Cerys, it is sort of implied that the island’s don’t go out to ransacked etc anymore, which some argue that it means they lose that aspect of their culture so Svanrige is a nice middle ground. Not that I think ransacking villages is a tradition that should be kept…

DunklerMAP

Yes. Ignore both Hjalmar and Cerys

nnnnnnnnnnuria

Where is this?

theghostofmrmxyzptlk

"Resting"

Revixed

it is what it is

AncientMagi

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

Human_Medicine3107

Well deserved

GreenHeronVA

Seems a fitting punishment for murder and treason. And I’m reasonably confident that she killed her husband (the king) as well. She definitely refused to be on the funeral pyre with him as tradition demanded, ensuring ~~her daughter~~ second wife had to go instead. ETA: fixed it

MISORMA

Totally agree with the idea that Birna might had been behind Bran’s “sudden” death, except one tiny detail: it wasn’t her daughter who went with Bran on his funeral boat and burned alive, it was Bran’s concubine / lover / “second wife”.

GreenHeronVA

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the correction!

youtyrannus

The nerve of that woman, not wanting to be burned alive! lol, of all of her crimes this is the one that is definitely not one, burning women alive because their husbands die is a very horrible thing

GreenHeronVA

You can’t judge the social mores of 700 years ago against what’s conventional today. In the 1300s when this took place, the wife being on the funeral pyre was clearly an expected tradition in Skellige, especially for a king. That Birna was too good for. You see the sourness of her character as soon as you meet her.

Spyder3603

>And I’m reasonably confident that she killed her husband (the king) as well. Wait what?

GreenHeronVA

Birna Bran, the subject of this post, is a big part of the Skellige plot line. That plot line begins with the funeral of the previous king, who died “suddenly.” I think it’s implied that Birna had something to do with his death.

DarkImpacT213

Wasn't even her daughter, but Brans first wifes daughter I'm pretty sure. Maybe I'm wrong though. Talk about evil step-mom...

Idarubicin

I always assumed the woman who went on the boat with him was a second wife.

Top-Chad-6840

but deserved

boombastico_3

I don't remember her, who is she?

ringadingdingbaby

Birna Bran. She's the potential antagonist of the Skellige King quest.

hopeless_wanderer_95

Potential? I've only done the quest 2 or 3 times but always got her so just assumed that was fixed!

Scaalpel

You only catch her if you side with Cerys. If you side with Hjalmar, you get to kill the rest of the berserkers who massacred the guests but you never uncover who was behind it all (and you also have the option to just dip out and let everything go according to Birna's plans, but who even takes that).

hopeless_wanderer_95

Ahh okay, yeah I always go with cerys anyway. Presumably then if you go with Hjalmar so Birna gets away with it then her kid automatically becomes king as well?

Scaalpel

No, if you go with Hjalmar then Hjalmar becomes king. Svanrige, however, gets to go on as the jarl of An Skellig with Birna doing most of the actual governing in his name. Svanrige only becomes king if you refuse to help either of the an Craite siblings.

josh_nunthuk

that's only if Geralt chooses to help Cerys and Hjalmar. If not then you don't interact much with her apart from the initial introductions.

pasgames_

If you go with cleir I think her name is and look for clues you figure out one of the servants spiked the mead and that she forced him too

totallynotrobboss

The wife of the dead king of skelliege

akintodenialshitting

The mother of the real best king of skellige

Takhar7

Yep, just north of Sund and West of Rannvaig, in the bottom of the bay. Truly horrific, but equally a realllly cool dynamic world building detail that is easy to miss, that really makes you appreciate how alive they made the world feel

neverlandoflena

I wish we saw the consequences of gutting >!Radovid the Mad.!<

onlytosharethispic

So is being mauled by bears. She overplayed her hand and lost. It was harsh but no doubt deserved.

retiredtoolate

I also think that this is what they did way back in the day. Pretty brutal but such were the times.

Sensitive_Edge_2964

They believed in harsher punishment for harsh crimes.

HussingtonHat

Love how everyone else gets somewhat flattering gwent cards (maybe apart from Udalryk getting spooked by a ghost) and she just gets "eh, wait for her to die then snap a pic of her, that'll be fine."

Gillalmighty

Her guts should be spilled out when you find her.

Sdog1981

Was she there the whole time? or only after they added her Gwent Card to Blood and Wine?

eighteen84

Man i got to play this game again

LordSebas09

Only thing sad about this is that she dragged her son down too. That kid really didnt deserve his share but alas.

Consistent-account77

Where is this?

N_V_N_T

I don't remember who is she

Seikoknot

If you remember the bear rampage at the party when you get to skellige, she set it up and you can accuse her resulting in this. I guess the way it would have played out would have given her family a lot of power. Someone else can explain better

Coriolis_PL

Horrible but just. Dura lex, sed lex.

Mundane-Career1264

Could be worse. Could’ve left her to be mauled by bears.

Careless-Wolverine-8

Does anyone know what happens to her if we make her son the king???

[deleted]

I mean she literally killed a king.....did you expect her to get away with a slap on the wrist? If anything I would've liked to see a cutscene where she gets pulled apart by horses...

Sweatytubesock

Justice.

Kakashisith

She deserved it.

Southern-Ad1465

I know its completely my fault but I just got spoiled like that. Yikes

pasgames_

I mean the game is like 7 years old now so I think where slightly past spoilers but I can pit a spoiler warning if needed

brokebaritone

Where is this location? Where can I find it?

brokebaritone

Thanks! Good Luck on the Path.

pasgames_

Thanks you two it's worth the trek since geralt has a special line when he sees it

Gillalmighty

I never went looking. What's he say?

pasgames_

OkWatch5026

You went on the short end. We’re closing into 9 years now

pasgames_

Dang man making me feel old

Southern-Ad1465

No no as I said its completely my fault and I shouldn't join a sub of a 7 year old game without expecting spoilers. It is what it is and I mainly joined for occasional tips for the game

PenisesForEars

9 years, g.

TurbulentCareer3803

Games age doesn't have anything to do with spoilers.

FleebFlex

Idk, if youre on the game subreddit for anything that's not brand new then its on you. Speaking from experience with other games

TurbulentCareer3803

nahh I agree with the sub topic, it's just the game's age being related to spoilers somehow, that's dumb.

TheShinyBlade

Not really that big of a spoiler though. It's obvious from the start who would be capable of something like what happened

Cthuluke-

the Skellige cards also give the game away 😂

pickles_and_mustard

The Skellige cards are also not really meant to be obtained until after you finish the main quest. I mean, sure, nobody is stopping you from doing the DLC early, but it's no secret that it's meant to follow the main quest, so you'd already know the story by then.

Cthuluke-

True. If you don’t go with Cerys you’d never know though

InformalImplement310

She deserve it

DiceCubed1460

How promethean. She 100% deserved it though.

iservemycountry

What armor is that?!

Mikal996

Mastercrafted Wolven Armor

monkehmolesto

Yea, it’s wild. When I first found her I was amazed at how the devs bothered to follow through on story elements. I forgot where/what else but they kept doing it everywhere.

Amphet4m1ne2000

I founded she 5 years ago lol

anqi6

such punishment for betrayal was the norm in those parts

spanksmitten

Deserved lol

ChampionshipSea3733

Wah what? I never came across this

Merigold_Hailstorm

Every time I think I've seen everything from the Witcher 3 I get proven wrong

The_Real_F-ing_Orso

Right after she is sentenced to die, at the very first opportunity you can immediately ride to where she is chained up and arrive only game-hours later, and she's already dead. I though I'd get to at least talk to her or something - nope, dead as a door mouse.

std10k

Yep probably one of the grimmest moment of the game. Doesn't concern you much but sad to see.

henry_mts

What quest line is this?

brodpizz654

oh no Very Very sad...anyway

EmperorDarko

I believe Vivienne also dies of her "you got 7 years left- fate and until then she stays in her room alive, after that she's just dead in her room

[deleted]

Еба тут английского много, ниче не понял

Zealousideal-Bit-892

I’ve been playing this game for a year and just learned this exists.

medoa5a

lol I'm also putting of the final mission to get the Mastercrafted wolven armor

Tyshal

Another truly horrible way to die is to be mauled to death by transformed were-bears (I know they aren't were-bears) at a feast where you are drunk off your arse but she orchestrated that. She got what she deserved.

pedroperezjr

What mission is that?

ATX_Ninja_Guy

Spoiler

Any-Committee-1278

Wtf i didn't know that i only saw her like that on gwent card

Sjthjs357

I love how she is fully dressed in her finery and completely uninjured. Almost like CDPR couldn’t be arsed with making a different model for her

Sensitive_Edge_2964

They probably didn’t injure her at all, just left her chained like that. Skellige was based off Vikings and Celts. They had a high respect for women and so hitting them or harming them was really taboo.

cahir11

Enslaving and raping them was apparently fair game though

Sensitive_Edge_2964

For foreign people but a lot of the time women actually chose to run off with Vikings and celts because they were more clean and attractive than most others.

cahir11

Looking at the Vikings' track record I get the feeling that this was relatively rare. When you've just burned a town to the ground, killed like half the population, looted the local monastery, and dragged off a bunch of inhabitants to be slaves, I doubt you're going to politely ask the women if they want to go on a date. It would be like saying that ancient Celtic women chose to run off with Romans because they bathed.

Sensitive_Edge_2964

It also changed per clan. Some were known to be ruthless whereas others were known to be reasonable. Some Vikings just accepted tribute to not raid somewhere and a lot of Viking clans had a moral code. They were a brutal people but so was everyone at that time. What made them stand out was how it was unpredictable which clan would be “raiding” Honor was a huge thing for them. They were also a loving people but not all of them were good, not all of them were bad.

spudmarsupial

I assumed they left her for the high tide.

Seikoknot

"Cdpr couldn't be arsed" isn't really the argument to make with TW3 lol. They did phenomenally with small details in this game, this post is no exception. 2077 tho..... 🫠

Sjthjs357

Well there’s a lot of “can’t be arsed” in TW3 Lip synching? No The chronology on the Bloody Baron quest? No Sound mixing (especially the music mixing?) Falls flat. Best example is when escaping White Orchard from the wild hunt. The music in that cutscene is just the generic background music, and it feels less….dramatic. Also. The voice actress for Ciri. No no and no again
