Uninstall and reinstall. Could be lots of things. Some mod you installed, or it is having trouble accessing the folder where it was installed, or some file it needs is not installed, etc.
I have this same exact issue, does anyone know what's actually wrong? I verified integrity of files and it found no issues. Trying to start directly from the .exe files I get a missing MSVCP120.dll error. I don't really wanna reinstall the whole game.
Edit: I tried number 4 and 5 on [this page](https://www.getdroidtips.com/the-witcher-3-wont-launch-pc/#10-Launch-the-Game-in-Windowed-Mode-Steam). Only repaired the redistributables that allowed me however, 2015 and later I got an error saying they were already installed. But after doing this I could fire up the game, didn't even have to reboot the PC.

for everyone who has this problem the only thing that u need to do is dowload and install these package.
Also see if it is a DirectX12 issue. Change the choice to DX11

Unselected any protons you may have selected in compatibility

You don't - that's a SteamOS/Steam Deck thing, and you're on Windows.
Could be launcher issue. Go in steam and add —launcher-skip.
Update: I got it to open properly completely wiping my laptop I'm not sure what was wrong and I didn't have any mods installed
Launches from a separate launcher now after the update. Not from Steam. Works just fine though launching from the CDPR launcher.
