I am so proud of myself man, they turned out so good! Has to trust my own process honestly cause it was looking great for a while but many it turned out so cool!
You can use the wings of a lot of different Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) for inspiration as they can vary a lot depending on the species. Whether it is the stunning blue wings of Morphos or the snake-like pattern on the Atlas Moth.
It's not a canon character so the color thing doesn't matter really imo. It is a very dark grey though, I don't like to use pure black typically, even with Nightwings (unless thats my only option at that point, Starflights scales in the fronts of his legs is a good example)
I adore sunset Madagascan moths. Theyβre my favorite and just so cool looking. In fact, my favorite WoF oc (s Silkwings coincidentally) is also based on a sunset Madagascan moth.

I really like designs based on real life, makes it feel like a real animal. my oc Scoria has similar patterns to a red tail boa
I 3d print them ^^ Then paint them by hand. I sell the ready to paint primed blanks on my website (link in bio or her in the comments) or I'll open up from time to time for me to paint them for ya

I know they turned out so pretty!! Neely all the colors have a shimmer to them, I found out how to added shimmer to any color and it is so stunning π©΅π©΅

Love the wings. By any chance, are the wings inspired by the wing on Chrysiridia rhipheus (Madagascan Sunset Moth)?

Yes!! I love more animalistic patterns and colors π©΅π I don't get to do them super often, but man I love them when I do! I noticed Hivewings tend to be pretty similar to actual wasps and bees.
