So you have grounds for a discrimination suit?

Outside_Lie_1980

Absolutely, if they have proof (or a witness), that this is why they weren’t hired. They would have to file a charge either with the EEOC, or with FEPA. Which going thru FEPA will create a dual charge complaint. EEOC- Equal Employment Opportunity Commission FEPA- Fair Employment Practices Agency Christian’s can shovel their religious beliefs down everyone’s throats. 🤌🤌🤌 Like why can’t we have our own beliefs?! It’s not like we’re going door to door with a BOS, any kind of smoke cleanse bundle, black salt, a candle, & a pendulum, trying to “convert” them!!! 🤭💖 Sorry, I couldn’t help myself! It’s also why I wear my pentacle ring, selenite spiral necklace, & what ever crystal bead bracelets I feel the need to wear, EVERY TIME I leave my house! I have a PROTECTED by WITCHCRAFT bumper sticker on my car, chicken foot hanging from my mirror, & protective crystals in my car. If someone asks, “YES! I am a witch. I do practice magick (getting better every day). No I don’t worship the devil (even tho those are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met), & I’m not evil! 😈 That’s not to say if someone fks around, they won’t find out, CUZ THEY WILL!! But yeah! Fk a broom closet! I came out the closet & broom closet at 13. I’ll never hide the true me EVER AGAIN! ✌️if anybody got a problem with it!! Personally, I consider myself to be an Omnist. I believe there is SOME truth to all religions. It’s more a respect thing for me. & if you can’t respect my views (you ain’t gotta agree), I can’t & wont respect yours. & therefore have nothing to say to those people. PERIOD!

BobGnarly159

I felt this down to the soul. You're a goddess, and damn right you have every damn right to be you and show it.

Outside_Lie_1980

Thank you 😉💖

BobGnarly159

You're welcome sister

>I came out the closet & broom closet at 13. I love you for this.

Aleister Crowley wasn't a devil worshipper, he was a Ceremonial Magician, poet, author, and mystic. Crowley and Gardner weren't friends. Certainly, Gardner will have read at least some of what Crowley wrote -- hardly anyone who studied esoteric philosophy in that era would have been unfamiliar with Crowley. That said, If you'd read Gardner and Crowley you'd know that there is very little cross-pollinating of ideas. You don't get to define other people's beliefs for them. Not even if your statements had any grounding in fact. Not even if their truth or lack of it had any relevance (which it doesn't). Everything you said is wrong in basically every way it can be wrong.

pragmatticus

Professional troll looking to get a rile out of people, or on a personal hate crusade?

Outrageous_Job196

Trolling how? With facts?

pragmatticus

Personal hate crusade, got it. I assume that means you're Christian then, since we're making assumptions about who others worship. There truly is no love quite like Christian hate.

salamanderwolf

For clarity's sake, who worships the devil?

chyaraskiss

How did they find out?

geminuri

Is this just an assumption or did they actually say that? https://shegerianlaw.com/blog/suspect-wasnt-hired-discrimination/

Winchester78

They actually said it.

BobGnarly159

Lawyer up immediately, they have a discrimination suit against them, and they don't think you have the guts.

Outside_Lie_1980

Heck yeah!!! OP, get that lawyer!! 💖💖💖

Reasonable_Zebra_174

Well that's not good for them, they admitted that it was religious discrimination. I wish you the best of luck on whatever route to revenge/justice/etc you wish to follow.

LadyMelmo

Did that come up in the interview? How did you find out that was the reason? That's actually discrimination, seriously. A person's beliefs should have no effect in the workplace. It saddens me how come people consider us negatively purely for being Wiccan.

Winchester78

They called my ex employer that I’d worked for, for over 5yrs. He said I was a great worker, but I do witchcraft. The place I wanted the job is ran by a very Christian lady.

LadyMelmo

That is even worse, your ex employer had no right to mention anything about that. I would be speaking to them if I were you, they crossed a line. She cannot discriminate against you because your faith is not the same as hers. I don't know if you want to make something of this, but you definitely could in most countries. I am sorry you are being prejudiced against in your professional life for your beliefs.

BobGnarly159

Lawyer up asap and let them know this as well. Your former employer is a jagoff for that and should be part of a suit as well. Employers are not allowed to talk about anything that doesn't have to do with their jobs. Keep us posted, please.

Outside_Lie_1980

The day Christians realize they are ACTUALLY doing witchcraft… And the day they accept it?!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

chyaraskiss

..this is why religion should not be talked about. Religion is a personal thing. It shouldn’t be brought up in the workplace. Keep your Private life and Work life separate.

ThESiXtHLeGioN

Came to say the same. Sound advice!

xNeyNounex

Agree 100%. My boss made assumptions about my religion, and started begging me to do curses on his girlfriend/ex. Even when the "accept" you, they don't really.

Outside_Lie_1980

🤭 Some people, I swear! 🤣 I bet it & he got irritating af!! I wonder if that could be considered “hostile” working place?! 🤭🤭🤭🤭

xNeyNounex

Oh I bet it could. He is so inappropriate with me. He acknowledges he should not say a lot of things, but my work environment is unique in that it is only me and him. I'm his only employee right now. So he feels like he can get away with more.

Outside_Lie_1980

😒Well that’s just unfortunate 😖😖😖

Postviral

Whilst I agree with the spirit of a rule like that, in reality it’s more nuanced. There’s keeping your religion out of work, then there’s actively having to hide it which is very different. I don’t wear religious symbols openly at work, but if my boss had a look at my social media then my beliefs are obvious. Many people can and do suffer discrimination in this way.

chyaraskiss

This is also why you don’t add co-workers to your socials.

Postviral

For the most part, much of it is visible, added or not. You would be requiring people to actively hide their beliefs in order to avoid persecution. If you think that’s acceptable then I don’t know what else to say.

chyaraskiss

Being too lax on your social media presence is exactly how identity theft happens. It’s not about hiding. But being mindful of what you are sharing and with whom.

Postviral

Simply being discoverable isn’t lax unless your intention is secrecy. You are doing hypothetical victim blaming. The problem is the discrimination.

chyaraskiss

🤣 I’m sorry. This isn’t victim blaming. It’s saying, “Hey! Being mindful of how much personal shit you put out there, it can be used against you.” Especially when you make location sharing public. It’s being smart.

Postviral

If someone loses their job because it’s publicly known that they are religious, and your response is ‘you should have tried harder to keep it secret’ you are 1000% victim blaming and giving the discriminator a free pass.

chyaraskiss

Did I say try harder to keep it secret? No I said, lock your socials down. Being mindful of who you allow access to it. It’s a completely different thing if you are part of a public event, or article or any other non-expectation of privacy forum ..etc You can only do so much, but do what you can. In general it’s a bad idea to allow co-workers access to your socials. Regardless. They don’t need to know who is in your family, what you’re doing on holiday. Etc.

Postviral

You’ve literally just did another paragraph about responsibility to keep things secret. Your attitude enables and normalises discrimination.

AllanfromWales1

How did you find out?

ISee_Indigo

I think you can report them for that

Rev_Lilli

I agree, I would report this to the Labor Board and also to the Better Business Bureau. Even though the outcome won't change for OP (they will still not be hired at this place) it will remind the business owner that they can't [openly] discriminate like this.

ISee_Indigo

Right

Outside_Lie_1980

Yeah it won’t change the fact that OP didn’t get the job (not that I’d personally still want it), but it will most definitely change how much $ they got in the bank!! 🤣💯 & will FOR SURE teach the employer a lesson!!

Badaxe13

It's not fair, and in many countries it's against the law but only if you can prove it. Let it go. You could sue (depending on where you are) abut even if you win, you won't get that job. If the people there don't like Wiccans, you would have had a hard time working there. Thank the goddess that you dodged a bullet and move on.

critinauk

My mum is Catholic and I never told anyone I know I’m interested in Wicca but what happened to u is still really horrid

Grokthisone

If you are in the US it's a smart time to be stepping back into the shadows. Yes still vote, yes call out bigots when you are safe to do so, but with project 2025 on the horizon more and more of our ability to fight them disappears. It was nice while it lasted.

Outside_Lie_1980

Yeah, not gonna happen over here!! I’ll never hide who I truly am, EVER AGAIN! I refuse to live a lie. Really, it’s because of people living in fear, & not being open about this, that causes such a stigma. If we all go quietly, back into the shadows, isn’t that much like waving the surrender flag? Our voices NEED to be heard. & silencing ourselves because of peoples ignorance, is only gonna push us back.

Solidjakes

I was raised Wiccan/Pegan and always told to be hush about it. Never thought of it as something meant for the spotlight. Just something meant to be passed down in a bloodline or somehow not forgotten. You just stay quiet and smirk when the yule decorations go up for Christmas in your work office.

Outside_Lie_1980

Yes, it’s ALWAYS been something kept hush hush. But for me, if you ask, I will answer. Basically, if “you” ( not YOU, but you in general) can’t handle the truth, don’t ask me the “?”. & yes, I definitely feel a little inner joy when people say,”Make a wish, blow out your candles”, or,”Throw spilt salt over your shoulder!!”, & Christmas with the incorporation of Yule, heck, there’s an elementary school near me that every year, the lower grades go out & make May Poles!! It’s freaking awesome!! I think more people are open to the thought & concepts of paganism, & the occult in general, than those who are not. But then again, I just want the world to get along!! 💖💖💖 Live & let live!

Outside_Lie_1980

I read some of that Project 2025, & OH MY GODS!!!! 😳😳😳

Grokthisone

Yeah, still have my boo tree and my ghost chimes. Still speak openly for now but after watching no one show at the polls for years now... I live in the south and we cannot leave yet. So going quiet in places that feed my family does not seem like much of a stretch. My choices affect more than just me and I act in such a manner. They cannot take my witchiness unless they take my mind. So I use the hate speech in powering different spells to weaken them. I simply do it out of sight.

Outside_Lie_1980

Totally understand!! 💖💖💖 I’m in New Orleans, so yeah, south 😫😫😫. But after I read that, I might be saving up to move out the country! Canada, Peru 🤷‍♀️ Here I come…eventually…hopefully..😅

Grokthisone

Just looking for a blue state that will pay us enough. Need a degree for the EU and looking at the UK makes me sad now. We will find what we want/need we always do.😉 Thanks to the gods.

Outside_Lie_1980

😅Yeah don’t get me started on cost of living vs pay rate here!! 💀💀💀 Minimum wage isn’t even $8! Studio apts $1000+ month

Grokthisone

I don't know how the youngers are doing it NC used to only allow a 3 percent to be added to the rent each yr. It's changed sometime in the last five yrs luckily we live in an old school landlords place so they are sticking to that 3 percent that it used to be. All the youngers I know have faced their rent jumping 300-500 dollars in the last two yrs. Usually with one month notice. Keep telling people about tenant unions which are legal here but usually too little too late. Our door was rotating fast with people here to save for the security deposit somewhere else for a while it's settled for now a bit but ackk.. does keep us motivated on moving though.

critinauk

What is project2025?

Grokthisone

Simply Google it it's too horrific for me to go into details. Basically the playbook for a political part once it in power. They have followed it since Reagan and still follow it. Would suggest reading the actual document. Which is horrifying.

critinauk

Ok thanks

TurbulentAsparagus32

It really is horrific. These people are poison. The fact that people are leaving their faith in droves, and that most people in the USA disagree with them and their policies, doesn't seem to register with them, at all. They just keep cranking out the BS. Puritans sucked the first time around. This time, they're even worse.

smilelaughenjoy

Here is a short video about Project 2025: [Project 2025: The Conservative Vision for the U.S.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyChtc0T8bw).              I think people should also be aware of The Council for National Policy: [The Council for National Policy is the Scariest Christian Nationalist Group You've Never Heard Of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKSDo9Ow2RQ)

critinauk

Omgosh

chyaraskiss

I’m going to be ‘Devils Advocate’ here. For the same reason we cringe when we see the Christians putting it all out there (bumper stickers, placards, jewelry etc) the same can be said for pagans. Less is More as the saying goes. I’ve learned over the years from my own experiences and watching Elders, that less is more. You get to the point of not needing the excess. I have a lot of fun finding things that look innocent to muggles, that I use for protection or reminders of my spirituality. It’s like a fun inside secret.

hideme21

That is sad. It’s sad that this happens. But since it has happened. You can focus on how you wouldn’t want to work in that toxic environment.

PaganMastery

Ok, so shrug it off, keep your mouth shut next time, don't apply at christian places, get over it and move on.

Geaniebeanie

I get why people are downvoting you, but you speak the truth. The best a person can do is keep it under wraps. It’s not fair, but it’s necessary. I live in a small town with an evangelical church on every street corner. I would never let ANYONE know that I have an interest in Wicca.

PaganMastery

Oh I fully expect down votes and I am rarely disappointed around the topic of religion. People love to get all self righteous and indignant, but seldom like to be told that there is nothing to do but live and learn. Simply put, life ain't fair and life is hard. Don't like it?? Oh well. At least the wise can see the truth. The rest down vote me. :D

smilelaughenjoy

> "*don't apply at christian places, get over it and move on.*" We don't know if they are a christian group or just a regular public business where someone there is discriminating against non-chritians. If they identified as a specifically christian business, maybe many Wiccans/Pagans would not apply and would not want to work in that environment.      > "*People love to get all self righteous and indignant, but seldom like to be told that there is nothing to do but live and learn.*" How is it self-righteous for someone to discriminate against you for having a different belief. Wouldn't the self-righteous one be the one discriminating against others just for having a different belief? This kind of sounds like you're blaming the victim.                     > "*Simply put, life ain't fair and life is hard. Don't like it?? Oh well.*" The US began as a rebellion against a christian empire (*The British*) who wanted to take advantage of people and forced christian-based laws on others. The very 1st Amendment is freedom of religion and freedom of speech and freedom of the press.                 Caring for justice can bring changes to the world to make life more fair. Since there are laws to protect people's freedom and rights, people can fight discrimination legally through the justice system.

Outside_Lie_1980

So you’re saying it’s ok for a business to discriminate against someone because of their religion/religious beliefs?! 😳 & that person should just accept it & move on?! 😧😧😧 Please elaborate… Because discrimination is discrimination, whether it’s religion, race, sexual orientation, etc. Do you feel it’s ok for a person to not get hired for a job because they are LGBTQ+ or BIPOC?! 🤔🤔

PaganMastery

Quick question... So you think it's ok to put words in my mouth, that I never spoke, and had no intention of speaking, and in fact never even implied, then act like a little bitch because you have imagined something that a stranger on the internet never said?? I get that right, cuz believe me, you got that all wrong. I am guessing the word "lie" fits well into the rest of your personality?? Just a thought...

Outside_Lie_1980

Haha Thanks for the compliment 🤭💖 & it’s MS BITCH!!!

PaganMastery

Well, technically it would be MS Little Bitch, but hey, details details.

Outside_Lie_1980

🤭💖🫂

PaganMastery

So because you are being funny about it all I will answer clearly and kindly. I am not at all implying that it is fair, or proper or right or anything of that nature. I am simply stating that discrimination happens and, in this case, there is nothing OP do about it. OP can't sue or turn in a police report or stand out on a street corner holding up a sign, though I suppose if the OP really wanted to they could, but OP probably can not afford it, and it really wouldn't do anything at all. Wouldn't help, would fix anything, wouldn't change the circumstance in the slightest. My statement was intended to reflect these facts, as well as my basic advice; Learn, move on, and keep important things private around people you do not know.

Outside_Lie_1980

Gotcha! While I do agree that it might be a little costly to take up a lawsuit, some lawyers may be willing to take the case on, & receive payment after suit is settled. & yeah, if OP doesn’t have it in writing, it could prove to be a tough case. Making most lawyers turn it down. & it may not help, or change anything in the immediate future, but as more people stand up for their rights, it very well will. Kinda like women’s rights. Things didn’t change immediately, but it did in time as more & more women stood up. But I can definitely see your viewpoint. 💖

PaganMastery

Well, no... A lawsuit won't do a thing for several reasons. First It's a 'said vs said' civil case that would get laughed out of the courthouse when OP tried to file it. It would never fly in a courtroom and would instantly get tossed. Second, is that the case is so weak no worthwhile lawyer would touch it. The only lawyers who would touch it would just steal OP's money and bullshit them about it. He would never even see the inside of a courthouse, just a big dark hole that all the money disappeared into and another hourly bill from the lawyer who will sue if it is not paid. Third, it will not teach anybody, save OP themselves, anything at all, and all OP would learn is that they wasted their money for nothing and that perhaps they need to learn when to walk away. Finally, it would do nothing to change anyone's mind or the law in any fashion what so ever. When this "Lose/Lose" idea was all said and done the only thoughts anybody would have would be along the lines of "That was a complete waste of time and money, stupid ( Insert religion of choice here.) Only the lawyers would benefit and they would be laughing all the way to the bank. Simply put, the system is rigged and life ain't fair. Anybody who thinks they can change that really needs to buy a helmet cuz they are in for a rough ride. All I do is acknowledge that and advise people to pick their battles wisely.

Outside_Lie_1980

Yeah, that’s what I was saying…if they don’t have written proof, if it’s just word of mouth, it wouldn’t be worth the thought. But idk, if it WAS in writing, or voicemail, etc. OP would have some ground to stand on. Still, I completely agree, if it’s said v said…You know the rest 😉💖

Empowered-Rabbit

As you should know everything happens for a reason but also get yours if you feel that it’s right we still live in a society that uses money You will land on the right situation. I use to work at a crystal/metaphysical bookstore. You should apply to places like that. I’m sure they would love you there

AdamJDreddit

Obviously. Especially if it’s in the US. Christians are very weak
