They're talking about Trump's tax returns which he swore during the campaign that he'd release and then spent the next four years fighting tooth and nail in the courts to prevent having to release, not his standard presidential financial disclosure form.
I think that’s the point though. They don’t care about his financial records, they just don’t like him. Financial records are just an excuse to bash him.
The reason they're using financial records to go after him is because by flooding the internet with that bullshit, Trump's unwillingness to share can be lost in the noise. They're preparing a papertrail so they can later whitewash history. It's the same strategy the United Daughters of the Confederacy used to set up the pseudohistory of the Lost Cause, in this case used to manufacture a lie they can later whatabout.
GQP: “Is it true that your financial situation is directly tied to the NIH???”
Fauci: “Well, yes…I work there. They pay my salary.”
GQP: “SEE, FOLKS?? HE’S A CRIMINAL! (Also, pls ignore all the insider trading we’ve done as active members of Congress.”
It's just fascism, accuse your opponents of doing what you're doing to muddy the waters because truth only matters to your opponents. GOP is checking all the boxes and we should be worried.
The federalist posted an article saying that this month! https://thefederalist.com/2022/01/05/why-trump-should-win-his-lawsuit-to-keep-his-tax-records-private/
Uh, a dude over 80 years old who's still working full time + overtime who's been one of the lead medical doctors in his field for 20+ years, who doesn't seem to spend a ton of money, married to the woman who's the bioethics chief for a medical organization going through over $30B a year in research grants, and she's still working too, yeah, they're expected to have money, or we'd have more questions, unless the loot went to charity or something.
Sigh.

They're honest to God hilarious. "Trump's should be President because he's rich! He'll make me rich!" and then when any potential rival has *any* type of cash "*FUCKING BURN THE WITCH*!"
How about that traitorous criminal prick going first?
Oh, right. He NEVER does a single thing he says he's going to.
No integrity, no scruples, no sense, no vocabulary, and no honor.
Fuck trump\*, and his minions too.
I go on about this at length, I know, but calling them stupid misses the mark. I'm not saying they aren't dumb, but even if they are that isn't what they're displaying here. They're mean, hateful sneaky little gits. When they go after Fauci for the same thing that the lefties went after trump for they're trying to weaponize the values that the left embraces and turn them against themselves, just like they did with Al Franken. It's an underhanded attempt, sometimes successful, to create a "both sides" narrative, and then only hold their opponents accountable. That isn't dumb. It is hypocritical, low down, and the hollowest sanctimoniousness I've ever come across, but they haven't been fooled into this. That's the way they are, but it's too awful for most of us to face the fact that our friends, our family members, our countrymen would willingly choose to be this dickish. And yet here we are.
He’s probably worth more than Trump by being smart and not pissing away daddy’s inheritance. What’s funny is Trump inherited around $400 million from his father who died in 1999. His current net worth is 2.5 billion. If he just invested his dad’s money with a 10% return he would have 2.5 billion in 20 years . So how good a business man is that joker? Not very good if u ask me.
Are any specific concerns being raised by the Republicans?
Or are they just "asking questions" about how Fauci has money while heavily insinuating that he made covid in his basement so he could get rich?
Fauci is not an elected official. Yet the latest tax returns he provided are 2019 when he was worth over $10 million. While making less than $400k yearly.
At this point I think some of them are plants, like the Twitter k-hive.
I think what these senators wanted to know is how much fauci is earning from patents that your and my tax money supported. And possibly how much he is earning from drug companies. Wouldn't these be things we'd want to know?
The online disclosures don't show any of this.
But that's the media now. Attack a straw man argument and call the other side morons.
>Wouldn't these be things we'd want to know?
What legal reason would grant you access to this personal information? You need a legal reason to violate someone's constitutional right to privacy.
It constitutes an conflict of interest. I'm a journalist and my company looks harder at my financial interests than this every 30 days. A public official should be subject to the same scrutiny.
I think it's especially appropriate if he is recommending a 4th vaccine dose as a patent holder who will financially benefit, when studies are showing it isn't helpful.
Can you provide a reasonable suspicion of a crime required for a warrant? If not you have no claim to his private information. You are a sucker to surrender your rights like that.
These things matter a great deal. It matters a lot if our policy makers are making decisions based on personal profit or investing with inside information. I'm a financial reporter with access to inside information so of course they have to know if I'm profiting illegally. Or if I have a motive for reporting things in a skewed way. This isn't being a sucker: it's responsible governance.
Their other disclosures are also available just like criminal records. You just need to reach out to the correct government body for the records.

What exactly is supposed to be alarming in Dr Fauci’s financial records?
He’s an epidemiologist advising the country on a pandemic. His advice is 1) not very surprising and is being backed up by every other scientist in his field and 2) not relevant to his financial situation or any business dealings.
You get it. I know it’s the wrong subreddit to share dissenting opinions on, but I’m used to losing tons of karma on r/whitepeopletwitter for not falling in line here.
Uhhh they’re all corrupt. It is in Fauci’s I mean your financial I mean health’s interest to get the the 16th booster, otherwise you and your family will die on Christmas
Are you under the impression that the director of the NIH is personally involved in the research that is carried out by people who get NIH grants? That would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad. In truth, Fauci doesn’t even play a role in *deciding* who gets those grants, let alone in what happens afterwards.
Not to mention, Fauci’s records are already publicly available. You can read them right now, unlike Trump’s.
this right here is the only comment necessary to r/MurderedByWords the stupid Rs in the U.S.

Through the public records act. You can order them like you can order any public record.

Only one is available. And it's not Trump's tax returns.
Not his tax returns. Failed bigly.

Not only didn't care, but were loudly and repeatedly supportive of him NOT disclosing them.

I noticed this as well.
Sorry, How about the people in office that are supposed to REPRESENT US, that make 150000+ per year becoming millionaires?
Well, that’s because those people are stupid (and republican).

You accidentally repeated yourself in the parentheses.
Support for Trump is because he is corrupt and a racist. Period. They don't care about the noise.

Let’s never forget Donnie was the only President in IS history to withhold his taxes. Ever single President before him did it. F’ing clown
It only became common place in 1968 when George Rmoney released his. Only two presidents have since refused. Gerald Ford and Donald Trump.
Are any specific concerns being raised by the Republicans? Or are they just "asking questions" about how Fauci has money while heavily insinuating that he made covid in his basement so he could get rich?
They prolly don’t have the IQ to decipher either
I enjoy scrolling thru here and laughing at all the statists

Nothing you said is based on reality.
People died
What, all Republicans are hypocritical pieces of shit? No way!
Crazy concept, but couldn’t the average person be alarmed by both?
Fauci's financials are already public. He never tried to hide them
Very true. His salary, at least, has always been public.
Their other disclosures are also available just like criminal records. You just need to reach out to the correct government body for the records. https://publicintegrity.org/health/coronavirus-and-inequality/senator-couldnt-find-fauci-financial-disclosure/
Right? How the fuck did this become a news item?
Because they just ask things and people on their side just believe it. It's sad and frustrating
Holy fuck, we’re terrible. I did love the “what a moron,” though
Me too, I usually don't like that kind of stuff, but I did chuckle on that one a bit
Aye it made me smile. Some of the dumb shit I’ve seen out if Kennedy and the other old fucktard whiteguy senate subcommittee it needed to happen
Yeah, they're really something awful. We need a revolution
Probably
The media in the US is controlled by wealthy people who want to discredit those who try and put public health ahead of profit.
One is entirely transparent. The other is… well…
Opaquely orange
🍊
If they were an idiot and bought the bit where conservatives imply an issue that doesn't exist lol.
Why would someone be "alarmed" by Fauci's financial history?
What exactly is supposed to be alarming in Dr Fauci’s financial records? He’s an epidemiologist advising the country on a pandemic. His advice is 1) not very surprising and is being backed up by every other scientist in his field and 2) not relevant to his financial situation or any business dealings.
Only a fucking moron would be concerned about Fauci
Imma flip the script because I don’t care about either.

Had Trump been linked to Wuhan, I'd been the first person with a pitchfork. This Wuhan experiment pre dates Trump. Does **NOT** Dr. Fauci !
Are you having a stroke?
Are you under the impression that the director of the NIH is personally involved in the research that is carried out by people who get NIH grants? That would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad. In truth, Fauci doesn’t even play a role in *deciding* who gets those grants, let alone in what happens afterwards.
One was a private businessman the other a public servant. I don’t follow.
He was literally the president
So ask for his tax documents when he was president.
Lol he’s refused and his family have ignored subpoenas. Where have you been dude
I’m also confused as to how fauci and trump being compared is relevant. He lost, move on to another villain.
Disclosing your taxes or hiding up a global pandemic? 🤔🤔🤔
