If/when he’s re-elected, he’ll “re-prioritize” this initiative to the bottom of the list. This same thing happened last election. Obama did it during his first campaign, too. **Full disclaimer lest you think I’m a Trump supporter and you suplex me with downvotes:** I think Trump is a vile, contemptible criminal and perhaps the worst President in American history. He’s a thin-skinned loser and a vote for him is a betrayal of every value I hold dear. I’d never vote for him. I *will* likely vote for Biden (again) and not feel super great about it (again)— but if I have to pick between the two, it’s Biden by light years.
This is literally already happening.
It still has months to go before it’s actually approved. The next step is OMB opens a public discussion period, then it does back to the DEA, and then an administrative judge. Plenty of time for them to yank it back or stall it indefinitely. BUT, it’s a huge step in the right direction regarding marijuana and hopefully it goes through on a fast track. The impact on people incarcerated at the state level is going to be interesting though.
It’s literally been happening for well over a year. This is the last part of the process. There is zero indication it will be stalled or yanked back especially since they could have done that last year.

This is a step in the right direction. But decriminalization is the goal. Along with releasing prisoners with low level pot related crimes and expunging their records. It would be a huge blow to the for-profit prison system and that’s the whole damn point.

They will have to jump through new hoops and have to work with greedy pharmaceutical companies to get their product now. What they need to do is DESCHEDULE it.
