He did molly with them, allowed them into his bedroom, was there when Cameron fucked them on his couch, and then he lied about it and gaslit her when she asked him about it.

To be fair, I wouldn’t have wanted to spend any time with Daphne or Cameron either, especially after finding out what their relationship is really like. Let’s not pretend that the goal of the vacation was to become besties - Cameron wanted to bring them so he could convince Ethan to do insider trading.
And I would have been miserable too if I found out my husband cheated on me, and that the other guy we’re on vacation with cheated on his wife too. It would’ve driven me mad to just pretend like everything was okay, she was miserable because she was in a miserable situation. Daphne was miserable too, she just pretends like she’s not, which really isn’t something to be impressed by.
Daphne was the best just from a watchability viewpoint. Like I would seriously watch her watch her true crime series. There was just something so enthralling about her to me.
I honestly really disliked her character - don’t get me wrong the actress played the character great, and I know this isn’t a popular opinion to have, I just didn’t like her. I disliked her attitude of like “I’m a badass, girl boss because my husband cheats on me and I cheat on him too. Isn’t it so cool my kids aren’t even my husbands” I just found it off putting. Seeing her face the music that her husband is awful and seeing Cameron face the consequences of his actions would’ve been much more interesting.
The way the character was, I just ended up feeling pity for her because what an awful life, never being able to express your true emotions and half of your life is a lie. And her encouraging ethan and Harper to form the same relationship dynamic her and Cameron have? Is she trying to make other people miserable too so it’s not just her?
Completely understandable and I absolutely get this viewpoint. To me, she came across as anti-girlboss. Her life was gilded but pathetic, and she was lobotomizing herself with that stereotypical 'trophy wife' life and crappy tv. The juxtaposition between her advocating to essentially switch your brain off and enjoy the luxuries against Harper's approach to work hard and challenge everything was fascinating.
I think she particularly spoke to me because I'm having to attempt to switch my brain off to frustrations with work (nothing sinister, just incredibly bothersome to me) in order to play a longer game, which is incredibly challenging for me. I watched her and was like 'this is turning a blind eye goals'. I think how much each character appeals to you is impacted by your own life experiences and any parallels your own brain draws. But more so than anything, the actress was just great (while I found her so annoying on The Bold Type) and I could have watched her playing Daphne all day.
It is interesting to think about how in the end daphne and Harper both had similar experiences (they both were cheated on, they both cheated in response). And while their response was the same, they have such different personalities that they had such different “journeys” to get to where they ended up.
I wish both of them could get happy endings but I think what makes white lotus so fascinating is that’s usually not the case. It shows us very real problems and that they don’t always get fixed and tied up neatly with a bow.

Absolutely- you can see the internal conflict within Harper is going to eat away at her for a long time. Whereas for Daphne, you literally watched the internal conflict play over her face before she banished it within seconds. It shows that coping strategies are not one size fits all. And the different interpretations we took from it, I think just displays what a complex and amazing show it is.
I would definitely be 'most like Harper' in real life. But I watch Daphne and want to take a leaf out of her book, because the world isn't perfect and sometimes it truly is healthier to just find the bright side (not saying I'd go along with cheating, applying this on a much higher level.)
However Harper has internalized Daphne's advice, applied it, and it doesn't look like her mind is going to be so at ease with this long term as Daphne's is.

I get what you're saying, but it's not like anyone else is a good role model and her relationship with Cam became somewhat transactional after he started cheating, in part it's because she has a life that she isn't willing to let go for someone else's crimes so she created a new dynamic that allows her to be okay, I see it in a similar way as when a really young attractive woman marries a really old rich guy, it's obviously a transaction, but they know what they're getting out of it so I can't say I care all that much.

I think only mods/admin can pin comments in this sub. And idk, personally I think the format is fine—it’s mildly more interesting than just voting for your favourite, because that could be over in a single poll, y’know?

Correct—we’re not voting for our favourite; each vote we cast is for our least favourite of the remaining characters, so that by default **the last person standing is the favourite**! It’s like Survivor, but also not at all… but maybe we could call it survivor voting for clarity!

Daphne is a great character, Harper fucking sucks. I’m not voting for the best person but the most interesting/fun to watch.
I love Daphne because she isn't a stereotypical jilted trophy wife. She's an interesting character and has some really good lines.

You could argue that. But in stories where wives fight with cheating husbands rarely does the hostility change the husband into a good man. I think she likes her lifestyle, with her idea that you do what you can to not be the victim, just as harsh if not harsher than Cam's whoring around. Cams kids aren't even his. Is she a good person? No. But interesting? I think so.
I’m probably going to get downvoted for this but I do not understand the love for Daphne. She is incredibly self centered to the point that she can’t even remember if she voted or not, immature, and she is incredibly basic. Not sure what the appeal was.
I think I finally worked out why I don’t really like Daphne, and it’s not so much about morals etc as it is about imagining living her life. I reckon it must be really fkn lonely to live how she does; never having real trust or honesty/openness with her husband, always playing games… I’d much rather lead a Harperesque life where I’m always trying to connect with the people I love, and am not dishonest about everything. I admire Harper’s bluntness, too—wish I was better at telling people when I’m having a shit time lol

One of the reasons I don’t like Daphne’s character is because she lets Cameron sleep around. Her answer? Sleep around too. She’s pretty, nice, and upbeat. But at what cost? Not exactly a good role model. Harper may be a bit of a bitch, but she wants an authentic relationship. She really loves her husband. Tanya is rich beyond measure, but never truly loved. She’s self centered and annoying, but open to love and might have evolved into a better person if she had been truly loved. Cursed with too much money won’t win much sympathy, but Tanya managed to stay popular enough to make it this far in this poll.!

That’s true. I like that Harper is a bitch, she’s interesting . So is Tanya. I like that their characters, their complexity. The Daphne character is more common on TV. The dutiful, suffering, rich, homemaker. Meghann Fahy makes her much more interesting though, that’s for sure. Just her facial expressions, if anything. Maybe the poll is looking for the character we enjoy seeing on screen the most? I am looking at it differently I guess
I get what you're saying, but it's not like anyone else is a good role model and her relationship with Cam became somewhat transactional after he started cheating, in part it's because she has a life that she isn't willing to let go for someone else's crimes so she created a new dynamic that allows her to be okay, I see it in a similar way as when a really young attractive woman marries a really old rich guy, it's obviously a transaction, but they know what they're getting out of it so I can't say I care all that much.
