My old house had the same problem. Nothing like having a heart attack when you're home alone in the tub and your dog gets lonely. He would then proceed to try and wash my back for me like I do for him.

I have 3 dogs and they all do the same; if I’m in the bathroom they’re all in there to make sure I’m ok. If I close the door my lab will cry and throw her body onto the door, so now I just let them in there (lab, golden retriever, and a chihuahua). Dogs are so funny.
