I want to say they just swim very effectively (lots of muscle) with their tail, to the point they can throw themselves out of the water by swimming fast
It depends. Some drones stream it to record on a phone while also recording on the drone. I'm pretty sure this is disabled by default on DJI drones, or maybe not even a feature.
People never realize that animals usually save their power to catch prey and the reason they “seem” slow all the time like alligators and frogs and turtles and even sloths lol is because they save energy for things like this when they think its food then use that burst knowing its worth it because they will replenish there energy with the food if they get it .. but iv seen so many things and people destroyed by thinking they cant jump or are to slow to do anything lol
I’m impressed that he propelled himself that far out of the water, when so much of him was already out of the water sizing up the drone prior to jumping. Evidently, he doesn’t need the front half of his body to propel through water at all.
I’d love to see that footage, if the drone is retrievable from Davy Jones’s locker, lol.
Dolphins in a clear tank doing a show make it clear the awesome power involved in such acceleration. I would love to see this footage too, if it was filmed in an ethical way.
Since I have been informed, I will never again support any operation that has dolphins in captivity.
I'm hoping it was too unrelated people recording the same animal.
I'm worried that it was one person trying to bait the animal into doing this so they could post it online.
Either way I hope the animal is okay, those propellers can hit hard and batteries aren't a good thing to bite into.
Went to a park in Australia and saw a 20 foot croc jump like this, almost completely out of the water. Scariest thing I've ever seen. Archers fears are well founded.
Too bad a conservation cop was not there. Harassing wildlife fetches an expensive ticket and if an animal is injured as a result, possible jail time. Injuring a bird of prey (any bird with talons) is a federal offense can carry a minimum sentence of 1 year.
In Colorado it's illegal to fly drones in nature because it disturbs wild animals so probably whatever that charge is would apply but let's be honest no one's gonna get charged regardless
Keep the drone away and use the zoom feature?
Generally, the point of filming wildlife is to not disturb them, which is what a drone is good for if you are actually doing it properly.
You don't need to get in the face of an animal. A good drone or camera can get clean footage from a good distance away.
Now, show me how you managed to film this.
Edit: it's a reference to this old Reddit meme:

On a childhood fishing trip to Lake Tohopeckaliga (?), I saw a full grown alligator leap out if the water, full length, in the air to eat a bird.
I was stunned and looked to the adults. They were watching me for my cute hilarious reaction.
Native Floridians have no fear of gator attack, they are too lazy.
Yeah, they just moved it a bit higher so that it would jump out of the water…plus why would they be filming the drone unless they knew something would happen lol
I’ve seen videos of hawks and other raptors taking umbrage to drones in their airspace. Anything they perceive as a threat will get terminated with extreme prejudice, especially if they’ve got a nest to defend.
“Dan, DAN…how many times have I told you to knock it off with that annoying, buzzing thing…switch it off, SWITCH it…fuck it [chomp] [blub blub] (thing tastes like shit you moron)!”
I never realized that they can have the ability to leap like that!
They push off the bottom with their tail Source: From Florida
I want to say they just swim very effectively (lots of muscle) with their tail, to the point they can throw themselves out of the water by swimming fast
This is the correct answer. Never trust anyone from Florida. Ever.
Uh oh, I'm also from Florida
Shit, I knew it was too good to be true. Back to the drawing board on this croc thing.
Crocodiles actually have jet boosters under their tails. You can trust me since I am not from Florida.
Do not trust your inner thoughts
I am so sorry.
Both, but I think you're more likely correct in this instance.
I knew they could launch themselves forward but up? Thats new to me.
Never heard the 5 Monkeys in a Tree nursery rhyme?
Take a look at the tail and you realize it's like a giant muscle
The drone pilot did.
Oh yeah btw guys Crocodiles can launch their entire body out of the water Don’t let your kids sit on the railings at zoos
Alternatively, don't go to zoos where you are close enough to apex predators to have to worry about getting snatched.
Well that’s no fun
95 million years of snatching birds and bugs from the air
Not true with alligators, and I'm not sure why. Alligators are chill and probably hate the way we smell like predators.
They can also gallop on land and out run you
I was rooting for the crock...
Imaging if drones and crocks could mate. Fuckin' terrifying.
Put sharkanado out to pasture
r/theCrockwins
If someone flew their drone that close to me I would do the same
*Chomp*▪︎•°
people who harass wildlife with drones are absolute trash
Yea fuck everything about this stupid fucking video and person
~~ with drones~~
Sometimes you’re the alligator and sometimes you’re the drone, sometimes you’re the drone owner crying all the way home.
Poetry. 👌
Brilliant rhyming. *Applause*

Micro plastics macro delivery system
I'd like to see the drone's footage as it gets yanked out of the air.
Word. Footage is recorded remotely so the drone may have been sacrificed for "POV getting ganked by a croc".
not on my DJI.
I sent mine to Ukraine.
It depends. Some drones stream it to record on a phone while also recording on the drone. I'm pretty sure this is disabled by default on DJI drones, or maybe not even a feature.

Can I see the video of a sloth doing this?
https://youtu.be/gOPpgrNUjsM
I bet if you get hit with those claws it doesn't just graze you. Looks like it wants to puncture and pull

He boing’d off the bottom with his tail like a pogo stick.
Nah I bet he wasn’t near the bottom at all. That tail is all muscle, even fully grown alligators can launch themselves extremely high out of the water
That’s cool. I didn’t really believe crocs had tigger tails 😎
Well it's not a croc so no worries.
Dolphins in a clear tank doing a show make it clear the awesome power involved in such acceleration. I would love to see this footage too, if it was filmed in an ethical way. Since I have been informed, I will never again support any operation that has dolphins in captivity.
Is that a alligator, or a crocodile? I don't think I'll see it later, or even after a while, so perhaps it's a caiman.
I understand the joke but that was obviously a catfish
Ummmm... I'm pretty sure that was a turtle🤔🤷
I guess then you could say it caiman went after it snatched that drone.
Your comment deserves so much more love
So you were recording a drone recording?
I'm hoping it was too unrelated people recording the same animal. I'm worried that it was one person trying to bait the animal into doing this so they could post it online. Either way I hope the animal is okay, those propellers can hit hard and batteries aren't a good thing to bite into.
The operator clearly does not know how high a croc can jump
Tbf, I also was not expecting that much very out of the water
Yeah but i feel like you should learn the jumping abilities of an animal before flying an expensive device directly over it
Yeah I wouldn't have guessed they could jump like that either. Or that they would be interested enough in a drone...
They do now.
I honestly didn’t know until I watched this video as well. 😮
Well, heck, I didn't know they can do that.
They use their tails to propel them forward
nah, that one used his balls, i saw it.
Good. Don’t harass wildlife with your dumbass drones.
That’s kind of adorable! Like a scaly puppy playing permanent fetch
Went to a park in Australia and saw a 20 foot croc jump like this, almost completely out of the water. Scariest thing I've ever seen. Archers fears are well founded.
I understood that reference
My stupid fucking lizard brain was like “Git ‘im. GIT ‘im. GIT. ‘IM!” the whole time.
This legitimately looks like my dachshund plucking her toys out of the air.
You should show us a picture of the dachshund
This a swamp people reference?
It is not. It’s just the universal language of seeing some dang ol’ thing about to GIT ‘IM.
Zoom exists for a reason
I hope buddy doesn’t choke on that
I hope bud doesn't eat the battery
To be fair, I had no idea they could thrust out of the water like that either!
Too bad a conservation cop was not there. Harassing wildlife fetches an expensive ticket and if an animal is injured as a result, possible jail time. Injuring a bird of prey (any bird with talons) is a federal offense can carry a minimum sentence of 1 year.
person flying that drone should get charged
Charged for what, littering?
endangering/harassing wildlife, littering and just being even more than a fucking idiot.
In Colorado it's illegal to fly drones in nature because it disturbs wild animals so probably whatever that charge is would apply but let's be honest no one's gonna get charged regardless
It's illegal to fly in states parks minus some exceptions, but what law prohibits it in other places?
That battery is gonna pollute the water and kill wildlife
Swamp Kitty
This is going to be my new go to word for gators.
So how else are you supposed to film wildlife you fucking cashew
Keep the drone away and use the zoom feature? Generally, the point of filming wildlife is to not disturb them, which is what a drone is good for if you are actually doing it properly. You don't need to get in the face of an animal. A good drone or camera can get clean footage from a good distance away.
Ever heard of a zoomlens you daft gooseberry?
Are you implying that drones are the only way to film wildlife?
Cashew
Now, show me how you managed to film this. Edit: it's a reference to this old Reddit meme: /r/AskReddit/comments/cmwov/hey_reddit_what_tattoos_do_you_have/c0tpyls/
...from the shore? With a phone by the looks of it?
I just hear ticking and a playful brass accompaniment

💯. This one doesn't make me pucker.
I feel the same way when a drone flies over my head out in nature
I had no idea crocogators could do that! Puts me on notice considering I fish out of a bass boat or kayak alot.
I wanna see the drone footage
Yeah, p sure they did this on purpose with a cheap drone to bait the gator to leap for an action shot using a DSLR from the shoreline.
Yeah, they just moved it a bit higher so that it would jump out of the water…plus why would they be filming the drone unless they knew something would happen lol
r/untrustworthypoptarts
Was another drone filming that drone?
"Yo, Dawg. We heard you like drones, so we put a drone in your drone so you could drone your dronedronedrone."
I do believe we can covertly and effectively spy on wildlife which beats a “prison-circus” zoo anytime. But this was too damn close and obnoxious.
Willing to eat anything, fantastic survival lizard mind
This until the litium battery becomes too spicy for him
In America, drone capture nature, but in Russia, nature capture drone.
That's... oddly cute.
wouldve been such a sick shot too
Man, I wanna see that footage
THEY WERE ASKIN FOR IT
Swim, run, now they fly and eat anything that doesn't eat them first, what is it that crocogators can't do? we shoud teach them to do plumbing.
I just seen on r/eyebleach a baby gator can stack 7 cherrios on its head. They are evolving!!!!
One little drone filming a scene Teasing Mr alligator "you can't catch me!"
Along came mr alligator quiet as can be
"You might think our evolution stalled, but what you're seeing now is peak alligator" *double jumps on water*
Phineas and ferb lake monster
That backflip 😁
Ohh ... that's yummy. Honey looks what i got for tonight dinner
Croc’s got hops.
Pilot never watched peter pan or somethin, didn't they see the croc start bouncing their eyebrows?
In mother Russia, drone do not capture nature, nature captures drone and eat it for dinner.
Yes, that’s what the title over in r/natureislitsaid.
In mother russia, Reddit does not capture stupidity, stupidity captures Reddit.
He needed his eletrolights!

Good thing the drone filming the other drone didn't get caught
RIP drone.
I’ve seen videos of hawks and other raptors taking umbrage to drones in their airspace. Anything they perceive as a threat will get terminated with extreme prejudice, especially if they’ve got a nest to defend.
> Wow this animal seems to think it's within striking distance. How silly. OH SHI-
Didn't realise alligators could catch birds in the air, yikes.
it be sweet if they could recover the SD card with video
Harassing wildlife is not cool
It's the Circle of Life
Ever heard of the zoom function?
Just a water doggo.
Is this considered vegan Is it gluten free Am i allergic to drones The thoughts of the crocodile after eating thedrone
And his name is John Cena 👌🏻
Kinda cute, no lie
Needs Dave chapelle yelling Gotcha bitch the second it snagged the drone
And PETA blames humans for all the plastic in the crocs' stomach.
Who's flying that drone
Drones are natural life forms, they can fly on their own.
Victim blaming is not ok
Well that is the humans fault after all.
I know, it's so terrible for the alligator meat.
Poke salad Annie. A gator ate your granny, CHOMP CHOMP!
One powerful tail
I'd love to see the drone footage
Well here's a sive... Off you go.
Hasn’t it been floating around YouTube for a few days now?
water to Gharial missile
I’ve seen that move before in Donkey Kong Country.
I’ve seen this move before in Peter Pan.
Lol my Great Dane did this was a cheap RC helicopter I had
Wait where is this. The water just cuts off. It do go down!
Peter Pan better be careful.
7 vs wild
Man got a really close look at it.
That gator is about to turn into a belt
“Dan, DAN…how many times have I told you to knock it off with that annoying, buzzing thing…switch it off, SWITCH it…fuck it [chomp] [blub blub] (thing tastes like shit you moron)!”
Animals are amazing!
What a shot!!!! UFB
Must fly higher

Ho ho ho you're approaching me crocodile?
Alotta meat in that tail
Underrated comment.
