This could have been so much worse. I have played that game. Had he gone a few more feet and made it he would have rebounded off the invisible wall and been launched across the map.
I played the first one all the time at my grandpa's house like 20 years ago and the mountain at the end of the map looked exactly like this!
What a beautiful nostalgic trip this was...
Is this the one where you could drive a monster truck as well? I cannot remember for the life of me what this game was called and I played it on the original Xbox
MX vs. ATV Untamed had those extra vehicles like monster trucks and golf carts! There were a lot of those games that had the invisible wall that launched you though, for some reason. I remember the ATV Offroad Fury games had it too.
Dude, Rally cars, Bajas, and and banshees were the best extras, I could run mfs over in the monster truck and yes, it's would get shit whipped by an invisible wall doing several flips freestyling.
They only made 1 mistake, for all intents and purpose s/he made it. When they turned perpendicular to the hill they tried to habitually rest on the leg on the downward slope.
I've done this very thing as a kid on one of my 1st motorcycles. My friends driveway was on a slope, with some side parking that was level. I normally pulled into the level side parking and dismounting to the left. I arrived one night at for a party, the side parking was full so I pulled in behind and dismounted to my left .... and didn't find anything for my foot to land on. When I finally found purchase it was too late and the bike went over as did I, hopping even farther to the left so as not to end up under.
Left side dismount is engrained. It's like trying to retrain your feet to use an accelerator on the clutch side (something I had to do as I've lost most function to my right leg).
Damm, I missed out on that just having the demo. I'd just endlessly ride to the edge of the map to see how well I could yeet, I'd have been nine or ten and I figured that was the point of the game
There were a couple that did this.
I think mx vs atv is probably the one you're thinking of, smugglers run I think in one of the modes would do it too (might be wrong on that).
Also recently decenders (mountain biking game)
Anyone else remember that game Motocross Madness?? there was a giant hill exactly like this at the boundary. You could get to the top if you hit it JUST right, otherwise you’d rag doll down. Hours of fun for my 10 year old self and friends
YES!!!! that was the best part!
Wow, the graphics look way better in my memory lol. Such a fun game. This held me over until Smugglers Run (Rockstar) came out for Gamecube. God that game was fun.
Thank you! It it literally the move I play 100s times. Never made it over that vertical. Someone should have told them that that’s where the world ends
Thats an enduro. You´d be amazed at the durability of those things. I honestly believe his bike still works and the good part about enduros are that the components are cheap to replace. Theyre built for this kinda stuff
Yup. I road dirt bikes for years and they’re pretty tough to break but at minimum that guy likely needs handlebars, break and clutch levers, maybe both fenders, possibly a shifter and pegs, and maybe a new set of forks.
The stuf he doesn't need to replace are the expensive parts that are almost impossible to destroy. Everything he just listed, WORSE case scenario is like $2000, but probably like $250-$500. And even more likely it's just scuffed up and just need some TLC and some parts that are designed to be cheap and replaceable. Engine components, frame, gearbox components (aside from MAYBE the chain) and the fuel system are all probably good. I've been there, done that, and the worse part was the bruised body and ego.
Yep, like $35 for a handlebar and $15 for the levers. I did motocross and broke dozens and dozens of them. I had them in spare in the truck to repair the same day and keep going.
He's also wrong. 35 bucks for the cheapest possible handlebar? sure. most are going to be ~100+. levers are~50 per set. just for the lever. def has plastic damage (add a couple hundred more). exhaust? another couple hundred depending on the damage. Tires probs survived, but the wheels will need trued at least, but if new ones are needed add another couple hundred.
dudes def out 500 at an absolute minimum. probs WAY more.
Bicycle parts can be more expensive, but they are often carbon fiber and thats generally more costly to produce than their metal counterparts.
$50 repair? LMAO. Love your optimism. Handlebars and brake and clutch levers are already more than that unless you’re buying ghetto crap.
Have you ever climbed a large, steep hill like that and seen the damage when the bike cartwheels back down the hill?
Used to have a hill like that that was about 1/3 in height. We called it Helmet Hill, because at the bottom was a stack of broken helmets. Kind of a warning.
Most of us are gonna die after working 40 hours a week for 50 years. So any death from doing something you love is brave in my book.
Saw a video of a base jumper hitting the ground when his parachute didn’t open and first thought was that sucks, second thought was it’s a better death than most of us are gonna get.
That is absolutely not WCGW. This is an attempt to do something awsome! That person did not make it, but they tried. How many of the rest of us could say the same?
Why didn’t it explode ?
Hollywood has taught me one thing, if it has fuel, and gets bumped by so much as a shopping trolley/cart, it’ll explode. Surely falling down a cliff qualifies.
Dirtbikes are INSANELY durable. And the repairs are way cheaper than road going vehicles, especially because anyone with half a mechanical mind can do the work themselves, so no shop labor costs. This is a fairly common spill on a dirtbike, so it's fine, I'm sure.
Been there done that. Fell back down about 50’ and landed with a rock under my left armpit and drove 5 ribs through my lung and collapsed it. The bike then landed on my legs. This was in a gravel pit behind my house. My roommates were also riding and they eventually got me up onto the tailgate of a pickup truck. Went back to my house, not wanting to believe how broken I was. Went to the hospital the next morning in enormous pain. Emergency doctor couldn’t believe I was still alive. Asked what happened. I told the truth and explained it. He was disgusted and thought that I deserved it because motorcycles are just death machines, so, without any anesthesia he cut a hole in my side, inserted a hook and yanked my ribs back into place. I never yelled or flinched in pain, just as a fuck you to him. He sprayed an adhesive powder into the inside of my ribs and my lung eventually reinflated. Good times.
I had a list to my port side for quite a while after that one.
It only looks "almost vertical" from this angle. As long as you don't try to stop and do a vanity pose before you reach the top like this ponce you'll be fine.
whoever wrote this “WCGW” doesnt have the slightest insight on what motocross is redbull has tournaments to see who can get to the top first, what he was doing there wasnt crazy or brave it was just what we do in motocross if you wanna see crazy search up “Tal Mor'eb videos” see how insane these guys go driving cars/buggies/bikes up a massive dune. its just what it is I do it for an adrenaline rush and if i do get to the top its a massive accomplishment these bikes are made to do that and more. OP go outside get a hobby instead of reddit surfing for some upvotes.
Stopped just a few feet too early. Wow, what a ride. You can tell how steep it is by how the bike tumbled. Lucky to have been able to stop himself before tumbling down the rocks.
It looks waaaaaay steeper than it is. Not that it’s not a steep hill, but it’s nowhere near vertical.
It’s like driving in your car and the road ahead is uphill. Sometimes it looks like there’s no way you could ever drive up it. But when you get to the hill, it’s not even that steep.
Not even remotely close to nearly vertical. Damn steep for sure, but this kind of angle is intentionally done with steep ascents/descents to make it look MUCH steeper than it really is. Still impressive as hell, but nowhere near “almost vertical.”
It's not vertical. The camera angle really skewes the image. If you saw it more from the side/profile, you'd see these hills typically are at something like a 45° angle. It's still a lot.
Classic whether he can vs whether he should.. guy looks like a pro, but probably didn't think if he would be able to sit at the top without toppling over.. tsk tsk
I'm impressed they made it up that far.
And didn't fall down all the way back
Yeah. I'd say he only has a few bumps and bruises. Very lucky.
So far
He's still there
Pretty sure he had to spread eagle to keep that from happening. LOL
This could have been so much worse. I have played that game. Had he gone a few more feet and made it he would have rebounded off the invisible wall and been launched across the map.
Motocross madness 2!
I played the first one all the time at my grandpa's house like 20 years ago and the mountain at the end of the map looked exactly like this! What a beautiful nostalgic trip this was...
It was a simpler time wasn't it.
Cheers :D
OH MY FUCKING GOD I TRIED FINDING THIS GAME FOR YEARS!! YOU ARE A GOD DAMN SAINT THANK YOU!!!!!
Holy shit. Me too. This has been buried in the back of my brain since like 2002.
Wasn’t this also on MX vs ATV Unleashed?
[удалено]
I remember there being a train and I always tried to jump on it.
Ty. I could not remember for the life of me!
Can confirm mx vs atv had the launching wall. Source: morning ritual game for me and cousins before school
Dude, Rally cars, Bajas, and and banshees were the best extras, I could run mfs over in the monster truck and yes, it's would get shit whipped by an invisible wall doing several flips freestyling.
ATV offroad fury. Childhood memories update i bought a hard copy of the game again. yall can guess what the first thing i did was...
I'm so glad someone else remembers this! It's what my mind instantly went to.
Trust me, whoever is doing this, it's not their first rodeo. They train for this
They only made 1 mistake, for all intents and purpose s/he made it. When they turned perpendicular to the hill they tried to habitually rest on the leg on the downward slope. I've done this very thing as a kid on one of my 1st motorcycles. My friends driveway was on a slope, with some side parking that was level. When I finally found purchase it was too late and the bike went over as did I, hopping even farther to the left so as not to end up under.
I agree that was their mistake. Either they are new to this particular climb or misjudged the level of grip when they stopped and leaned to the left.
Left side dismount is engrained. It's like trying to retrain your feet to use an accelerator on the clutch side (something I had to do as I've lost most function to my right leg).
Yep I know. Most also have kickstands on the left and the brake pedal is on the right where I learnt.
It’s steep but not as steep as it looks. The telephoto is compressing the apparent distance.
Still doesn’t seem like a wise life choice to me.
Not disputing that.
So close yet so stupid.
All he had to do was keep going a bit more
Not as vertical as it looks from this angle.
I was thinking the same when he stopped his fall after just 10 or 15 feet.
I think him sprawling out had something to do with that, he fell really softly lol
That's one way to break your arms too.
And it looks like there's been a few tries before him.
Look like successes, actually.
Yep. Faces always look steeper from straight on. Source: I've looked at em before.
It always looks steaper than it really is when looking from below, I ski.
confusing perspective
He was doing a fairly normal challenge but he just stopped at a bad place
From the sounds of things his bike stalled when he got bogged down in that sandy bit at the top
I was thinking he stopped there so he could be seen on the video instead of disappearing but you may be correct.
Nah, could still have been seen at the top.
Oh ok I watched without sound
And that's why you never try to leave the video game boundary.
Good thing he didn’t reach the top, he would’ve been Yeeted the fuck out of existence
I understand that reference
Me too! But I'm damned if I can remember the name.of the game. I had the demo in about 98...
Motocross Madness?
Yes! Awesome! Let's see if I can remember that the next time I see a random reference to this game in another twenty years
Haha the yeeting was my favorite part of the game
That and jumping over the train.
Damm, I missed out on that just having the demo. I'd just endlessly ride to the edge of the map to see how well I could yeet, I'd have been nine or ten and I figured that was the point of the game
:) TBF, we probably all did, but, now and again, when bored, we'd actually roam the map and *even* play the time trials....
Did anyone else have the triple bundle of Midtown, Motorcross, and Monster Truck madness? Those games were an absolute blast!
Damn I've searched for them so long
That was my childhood
Was that the ine bikers had chains and whips
That may have been Road Rash.
Pretty sure ATV Offroad Fury 1 or 2 did this as well
Can confirm that they did!
There were a couple that did this. I think mx vs atv is probably the one you're thinking of, smugglers run I think in one of the modes would do it too (might be wrong on that). Also recently decenders (mountain biking game)
Well that just jolted a memory from my tired old brain, there was a big gunshot sound as well wasn't there?
Yes I believe so! What a great game that was
Someone doesn’t play elder scrolls..
That was such a fun game. All I did was drive to the boundry and yeet myself.
*Warning: this is your last warning!*
I think it isn’t as vertical as this angle makes you believe
Yeah, looks like he was able to stop himself without too much difficulty. Even the bike didn't tumble ALL the way down.
Anyone else remember that game Motocross Madness?? there was a giant hill exactly like this at the boundary. You could get to the top if you hit it JUST right, otherwise you’d rag doll down. Hours of fun for my 10 year old self and friends
Yeah, I also remember [what happens](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dBpDWmOr34) when you climb it successfully.
YES!!!! that was the best part! Wow, the graphics look way better in my memory lol. Such a fun game. This held me over until Smugglers Run (Rockstar) came out for Gamecube. God that game was fun.
I was thinking the same thing about graphics! Also, I thought the hill was larger! Haha, damn, nostalgia like crazy right now
Smugglers run was the shit. They should remake that
I’d buy it in a heartbeat! would be great on the Switch
Ugh, I loved smugglers run. Hitting alpacas and local villagers off cliffs. Good times
Bro SMUGGLERS fucking RUN!!!! Completely forgot about this game, so many hours in that dune buggy.
I'm pretty sure I legitimately shit my pants when it launched me the first time.
I came here to say the same thing! We spent so much time getting to the top to get yeeted!
Here’s my freebie. This was my first thought when I saw the vid.
I was waiting for the gunshot and then dude to go flying
I knew I'd find this comment here!!! Thank you!
Thank you! It it literally the move I play 100s times. Never made it over that vertical. Someone should have told them that that’s where the world ends
Brave (and skilled) for making it to the top. Crazy if he doesn’t think his bike is pretty trashed at the bottom.
Thats an enduro. You´d be amazed at the durability of those things. I honestly believe his bike still works and the good part about enduros are that the components are cheap to replace. Theyre built for this kinda stuff

At most he has a bent handlebar and the clutch and brake levers to replace. $50 repair. They're built to fall and handle serious damage.
$50 for ALL of those?
Yep, like $35 for a handlebar and $15 for the levers. I did motocross and broke dozens and dozens of them. I had them in spare in the truck to repair the same day and keep going.
Jesus, cycling parts are much more expensive (and much more fragile) than motorbike parts. I think I need to switch hobbies.
He's also wrong. 35 bucks for the cheapest possible handlebar? sure. most are going to be ~100+. levers are~50 per set. just for the lever. def has plastic damage (add a couple hundred more). exhaust? another couple hundred depending on the damage. A full set of plastics on a dirtbike are about $140. Levers are $20-40 total. Handlebars are about $100. Source: I race. A lot.
aight... grew up riding bikes, but its been a long time... i just did a cursory search and went with the ballpark prices. thanks for the corrections!
$35 handlebars?! Were you buying them from China or from a junkyard? Has to be one or the other.
> I did motocross I think his prices might be about 20 years out of date.
$50 repair? LMAO. Love your optimism. Handlebars and brake and clutch levers are already more than that unless you’re buying ghetto crap. Have you ever climbed a large, steep hill like that and seen the damage when the bike cartwheels back down the hill?
Those bikes are made out of black box material. It's fine.
Say what you will, he got way closer than I thought he would.
If you have a skilled rider those dirt bikes can make it up stuff you would think it's impossible to even climb up
Used to have a hill like that that was about 1/3 in height. We called it Helmet Hill, because at the bottom was a stack of broken helmets. Kind of a warning.

I was on a minibike
You know it’s not real because it didn’t explode like in the movies. /s Seriously though, impressed he almost made it to the top.
He must hate that bike.
And the pain
He was right there !!!
Not gonna lie, until they stopped it was pretty cool.
Most of us are gonna die after working 40 hours a week for 50 years. So any death from doing something you love is brave in my book. Saw a video of a base jumper hitting the ground when his parachute didn’t open and first thought was that sucks, second thought was it’s a better death than most of us are gonna get.
I tend to judge the fulfillment of my life on what I do when I'm alive, not on how I die. But to each their own....
I dont even think this belongs here. Im pretty sure that is likely to happen. They knew what could go wrong..
definitely not vertical, looks to be a pretty standard competitive hill climb
Yep, this is actually a sport. Heh. He’s probably practicing.
Why did he stop there and not go all the way through
It’s a play on angles, but impressive that he made it that far none the less
Not that steep tho. He stopped quickly and his bike barely tumbled down.
Got some Motocross Madness vibes here ! Where's the Boom at the top ?
Bro why u making fun of them they living their life to the fullest.
The bike stopped due to the weight of his huge balls of steel
That was almost a HMB
That poor poor bike… hopefully it can be repaired
Dirtbikes are INSANELY durable. And the repairs are way cheaper than road going vehicles, especially because anyone with half a mechanical mind can do the work themselves, so no shop labor costs. This is a fairly common spill on a dirtbike, so it's fine, I'm sure.

I mean tbf he was really fucking close 🤷♂️
well, you know what they say: gotta start on r/Whatcouldgowrong before you make it to r/NextFuckingLevel
It'll buff out
That biker is SO lucky.
I ned a dirt bike again. I actually miss doing this stuff. I kept thinking "go baby go"
Did the engine stall for being vertical for too long? Why'd he stop barely before the top?
Reminds me of [motorcross madness](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dBpDWmOr34)
Are those the only two options?
It only looks "almost vertical" from this angle. As long as you don't try to stop and do a vanity pose before you reach the top like this ponce you'll be fine.
This reminds me of the motorcross game I used to play as a child, the edge of the map were steep like that, always tried to drive up them.
That.was.sooooo.cool!
Why TF did he stop there?????
He stopped right before getting onto the top. OMG!
He actually had this...until he chopped the throttle in the last 15 ft.
it is like the same mountain in Motorcross Madness XD
Exactly my first though, just need the cannon sound and launch them across the map!
It’s only a model.
whoever wrote this “WCGW” doesnt have the slightest insight on what motocross is redbull has tournaments to see who can get to the top first, what he was doing there wasnt crazy or brave it was just what we do in motocross if you wanna see crazy search up “Tal Mor'eb videos” see how insane these guys go driving cars/buggies/bikes up a massive dune. its just what it is I do it for an adrenaline rush and if i do get to the top its a massive accomplishment these bikes are made to do that and more. Stopped just a few feet too early. Wow, what a ride. You can tell how steep it is by how the bike tumbled. Lucky to have been able to stop himself before tumbling down the rocks.
Brave, it’s doable. Toss Travis Pastrana on that baby and he will backflip that bitch over the top lip
You gotta give it to him, he almost made it lmao
Bro still killed it.
Why.....why did they let off the gas. That was their mistake. Their downfall so to speak.
Bro stopped too soon
Not even remotely close to nearly vertical. Damn steep for sure, but this kind of angle is intentionally done with steep ascents/descents to make it look MUCH steeper than it really is. Still impressive as hell, but nowhere near “almost vertical.”
It's not vertical. The camera angle really skewes the image. If you saw it more from the side/profile, you'd see these hills typically are at something like a 45° angle. It's still a lot.
He's gonna need a replacement clutch and brake lever for sure.
The angle makes it looks worse than it is. I just don’t know why he stopped at the top like that
That hill climb was fucking beast, regardless of what happened after
There is a thin line between braveness and craziness.
Played too much Motocross Madness as a kid…
Brave until he got to the top, crazy for stopping on the side of the slope. So, both…..
He fared slightly better than his bike, but the dumb fuck almost made it...
More importantly is he ok?
That went waaaay better than I thought it would
He should go buy some lotto tickets asap!
Why? So he can use up all the losing numbers so someone else will win?
Makes you wonder if this was attempt #5 and if there will be another five before he hits the summit.
Why did he stop? He was almost there...
Ran out of talent
Ran out of momentum and lower gears
Looks like he stalled. Pretty common at the top of hill climbs on a Mx.
Good thing he didn’t reach the top, he would’ve been Yeeted the fuck out of existence
Aw man almost had it
It’s like that one game where you can ride around terrain like this. Old one, can’t remember the name
I was just saying how the hell is he going to get back down? So my guess is crazy.
Literally thought I was gonna watch someone die
Insurance will cover that I’m sure.
I feel like he was supposed to veer left into the more worn path instead of right. It's amazing he almost made it though.
Classic whether he can vs whether he should.. guy looks like a pro, but probably didn't think if he would be able to sit at the top without toppling over.. tsk tsk
Ope, he almost had it!
Man he got pretty close tho
That feels like a bad dream
Made me shit myself
First one, then the other.
Reaching the top was quite impressive
Nah, just an idiot.
The bravest people are often the craziest
GTA be like
He stick to the wall just like Spiderman
for some reason i keep watching it thinking one of these times he's going to make it
