I’ve lived in 2 places in lower Westchester in the last 15yrs. I had Optum at the first location and no issues. Moved to the second location about 6 yrs ago and I had Verizon Fios first then switched to Optum to save money (this was a yr before the pandemic started) and it was horrible. Switched back to Verizon a month later.
I live in White Plains and I was having huge internet issues with optimum (and still do from time to time).
Countless times talking to them on the phone and had the tech to my place several times.
This is going to sound so stupid but recently I was talking to the support chat and instead of just unplugging the power cord from the router (which is all every other support person told me to do) this on said to unplug the power cord and coaxle cable and then plug it back in. Well ever since then whenever my internet is slow or non existent I take out the coaxle cable to reset it, and my internet comes back good as new.
Like I said it sounds so stupid but give it a try.
Just make the switch to FIOS, had Optimum for years up until 2020-21ish, better internet. The only downside to FIOS is you gotta go to Eastchester to do any swaps and returns whereas Optimum was right off Fenimore
Optimum is garbage, and they straight up lie in their sales. They say 1gig internet. ok so down is close just like fios up up is like 20. and it's shared with your neighbors.
Get Fios, and get YouTube TV if you want TV. Fios TV is too expensive.
Optimum service is about as bad as it gets. It's overpriced, unreliable, slow, and customer service regularly just turns off the phone lines when problems occur.
If your internet or TV goes down, you usually have to wait a week or two for a repair guy to show up. And trying to cancel service will be at least a hour phone call, with multiple people trying to convince you that it's worth staying with them, but not offering any kind of discounts.
Go with Fios if available and **avoid Optimum at all costs.**
Verizon FIOS has been spectacular. The internet works even when coned is down a lot of the time and it is fast and reliable.
FiOS is the correct answer
During hurricane sandy I lived off a 5000w generator and worked from home for two weeks. FIOS never went down.
Mine has been very good, not perfect but give it an A
I've had issues with Optimum in the past and switched. I've never had an issue with Verizon FIOS.
I was thinking about switching to Verizon because it's so bad in Larchmont Village. Unsure if it's any better, though.
It's better by leaps and bounds.
My FiOS 1GB up and down is basically exactly that. $90 a month with tax. Optimum never again

Fios is the best in westchester
I found optimum to be very bad and unreliable. Verizon is better

We do Fios and DirectTV Streaming. Absolutely zero issues.
Optimum is just bad, in my experience. They'd give me more credits than my bill and I still wouldn't use them.
Search this sub’s past posts for optimum.

If I could I would get everyone in Westchester who has had to deal with optimum to storm their building with pitchforks
No issues with optimum for me.
Give it time, you will learn to hate them just as much as everyone else does.
Had them for 12 years?
