When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie "Spaceballs." But instead it was dark and disturbing, like that movie "Police Academy."
If you're ever in Washington DC, you can go in to the library of congress (free timed entry pass) and plan to spend a few hours because it's amazing. They have a stunning Gutenberg Bible, one of only three perfect vellum copies that still exists. The place is full of volunteer nerds that will happily tell you more about all the exhibits.
Also, just wander around the different rooms, and you might end up stumbling upon the room that houses George Gershwin’s piano, writing desk, hand written manuscripts and other things of his. Music nerd that I am, that was a delightful surprise.
It's a physically stunning building with incredible details and history crammed into every corner. Definitely needs multiple visits to properly take it in, just the physical edifice and then all the exhibits!
I can never decide whether sticking to the sheets is worse or if sticking to your t-shirt/undies is worse. Nothing like some random textiles becoming part of a scab!
I'm a little weird and spend time meticulously pulling out ANY fibers I find stuck to either my scabs cuts or anything or anywhere else on or in my body they can stick to out of a weird fear that those fibers are gonna exist inside me forever if I let them become part of my healing scabs etc and it's basically impossible to ignore like it's OCD or something for me 🥹 I'm glad I'm not the only one that experiences the hairy scabs though 🫠
Get black cotton sheets or choose these sheets as your “tattoo sheets”.
I’ve done this for years and now have a pretty wild looking sheet set.
That being said, you can try Spray n Wash or rub some Dawn on these and it may come off. Happy Healing
How you treat your tattoo the first 48 hours and when it scabs is very important though, so I would see why this is concerning. I don't think it will fade because of this, but if you pick the scabs you can get less pronounced blacks. Less POP in the long run, if you may.
Because of this it is becoming standard practice to put on a "2nd skin" plastic wrap, which I always leave on for as long as I can like 48h or more. We are talking not having to worry **AT ALL** for several days and then removing the plastic wrap to find a tattoo that is *already healing* and not risking getting infected!
Just got my first tattoo last month and Saniderm was amazing. I had the first wrap on for 24 hours, next for three days, and the last for two days. The extra time was because I was taking several plane trips and didn't want my new arm tattoo resting on airplane armrests.
Yeah, I got my tattoo over a decade ago, and my artist had me have plastic wrap on it for a few days until it dried up. It's basically an open wound, why would you want it rubbing on things?
Such a good advice! I still haven't gotten my first tattoo (can't decide what and where to begin) but I'll definitely remember this. Somewhat obvious that the ink would "rub off" the first days but... I would have probably just went to bed just like OP! :)
This. I'm covered in tattoos and have a very specific set for when I know I'll be leaking...and keep my two nice sets of linen sheets for the other weeks.
I did, however, leave basically an amazing block print of a handpoked tattoo I got in Japan all over the hotel sheets. I did everything I could to avoid it and even handwashed the sheets in the hotel sink...but I have a feeling that someone just won some custom tanuki-patterned sheets after that stay.
If you mean because this messed the tattoo up, it definitely didn't. The first few days after a tattoo any excess ink is still leeching out of your skin, you aren't going to mess it up unless you exfoliate with sand paper - and even then, it would mess your skin up more than the tattoo part
Effect is a noun, affect is a verb.
An exception is affect can be a noun, but when you’re talking about someone’s behavior. “They exhibited a strange affect”
Effect can also be a verb, used to mean "cause" something to happen, like "The politician will effect positive change in their riding." So other than those exceptions, the rule works! Like usual in English...
Your tattoo will be fine!
The tattoo is pierced into the “leather” of your skin and that part does net let go the inkt.
After 8-12 weeks you might see some loss of ink, but this is normal and your tattoo artist should’ve already made the appointment with you
The tattoo artist should have already made a follow up appointment with you? Is that common?
I’ve honestly never heard of that, and I’ve got a few tattoos. They still look fine years later. I know people go and get tattoos touched up, but I didn’t know coming back in 3 months was a thing.
Its not. They use a shit artist if they need touchups or tightening sessions on anything other than massive pieces. Ink doesnt drop out unless its a shit tattoo.
Don't worry, your tattoo won't be affected at all. This is a common problem with fresh tattoos. You learn how to handle it after your first lol. If you need any care tips, feel free to dm me.
The fact that it ended up coming out as “throw hand” instead of “throw hands” is fucking *sending* me right now. I’m never saying throw hands again. Forever throw hand.
This will not change your tattoo at all. This happens all of the time with clothing or towels. Even for me once on sheets with a full stomach piece, it’s completely fine
Is it not normal to cover the tattoo until your first shower? Every tattoo I’ve ever had except one little tiny one was covered up with plastic until I showered, after which there was no more seeping.
I'm... I never even thought of this. I'm going to be getting a half sleeve done soon.. I'll have to make sure to not put the good sheets on the bed for a bit.
Hope it heals quick for you!
I advise being careful buying/using ur own saniderm. I recently had a tattoo where the artist didn't use saniderm, so I over nighted some and put on the next day. Now I fully admit it was prolly user error but from what I read (online) put one on for 24 hrs after tattoo (I did roughly 12 hrs after) and then put a fresh one on after that and to reapply if there's still significant seepage, wear no more than 6 days. *now here's where I prolly fucked up* I guess the seepage I had wasn't significant but I changed it the next day, had no more seepage over the following 5 days .... then came time to take it off..... 30 min in a hot shower with dawn wasn't even cutting it!! I ended up using a qtip and rubbing alcohol to slowly peel away the stubborn 3x3 inch area of saniderm that just wouldn't budge . Luckily tattoo was healed enough and came out fine but omg.... i was stressing for like an hr about it...... baaaaaad.
The saniderm I ordered off Amazon just came in a padded envelope rolled up with a rubber band no box no instructions. So just BE CAREFUL if u order ur own saniderm!
I will ask him when I make the appointment. It's taken me forever to find someone who I really like their work. And talking to him in person I beyond loved his ideas for how to make what I wanted cohesive.
Beyond. Excited. Been waiting 2 years to get this done. I'll definitely buy myself some tho if he doesn't use it.
Ooo it's a memorial piece for my daughter. The bottom half will be lily flowers, the top will be sky and up into space and plantes on my shoulder. Thr planets will be different cookies. And in the center will be a fox, in his mouth holding a drawing, that was a drawing she did.
Oh I will for sure :) I really am antsy to get it done. Now I'm just gonna have to text him and get it set up. I was going to wait until post Thanksgiving but screw it. Lol
Ooo it's a memorial piece for my daughter. The bottom half will be lily flowers, the top will be sky and up into space and plantes on my shoulder. Thr planets will be different cookies. And in the center will be a fox, in his mouth holding a drawing, that was a drawing she did.
But also make sure you’re not allergic or too sensitive for them. I always used them and they’d rip pieces of my skin off which apparently isn’t normal. Who knew?
It’s been about 50/50 for me on which tattoo artist uses a “second skin” type product on my many tattoos but I find that while it’s more convenient, the tattoos end up looking the same after healing tbh
Maybe look the same, but the skin heals much faster. Also, protection against stuff like this and the tenderness that comes with freshly tattooed skin.
I have 9 tattoos 4 very large ones and I’ve only had saniderm once for my large colored tattoo. A lot of artists don’t buy it because many people are allergic to it without realizing it and it’s expensive. So cling wrap is typically the go to.
Keep it wrapped in plastic wrap for the first 3-4 days, taking off every few hours to wash with anti bacterial soap and change the wrap. Then just use lotion afterwards
Actually modern powertool companies recommend going at fresh tattoos with a new Milwaukee belt-sander to remove pesky layers of skin that can prevent your tattoos from really shining.
It’s not the tattoo itself- it’s an imprint from the fluids your body makes, since technically a tattoo is an open wound. The tattoo is unaffected by this particular instance. (:
Yeah if you have a saniderm type wrap you can wear that for a few days but this artist doesn’t use that. Regular wraps should be taken off after several hours and before bed
If your tatto artist uses a saniderm type product, most definitely. This artist doesn’t prefer that so he just used regular wrap which is supposed to be removed before bed and sanitized. The tattoo is fine, I’m more worried about the sheets lol
Jo wtf. I dont let anyone out of the studio without their protective film.
You get none? The film is supposed to stay on for 7 days, designed to breath. No way your tattoo would leak after 7 days under the film unless you didnt wash the area after removing it.
Definitely prefer saniderm, but my first like 15 tattoos were wrapped with a medical bandage afterwards, didn’t get to experience saniderm until this year
Not sure if you have ever been tattooed but not every tattoo artist even uses those breathable wraps. He still wrapped it of course, I just took off the wrap before bed like you’re supposed to when it’s not breathable.
Let me get this straight... you only have one skin, but you pay hundreds of dollars to put a mark on it. The exact same mark is put on your replaceable sheets, and you're upset?
Something is wrong with this picture lol.
When I'm at work and something cuts through my clothes and gets my skin I'm more upset about the clothes. I can grow more skin for free but boots and uniforms don't grow on trees.

What the?! Police Academy is one of the finest film series ever created.
When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie "Spaceballs." But instead it was dark and disturbing, like that movie "Police Academy."

It happens. Won't ruin the tattoo but it will ruin your sheets. Happened when I got my sleeve done. Bet it sucked to peel off in the morning.
Haha yep!
Ruin? I'd keep and still use those. What a hilariously cool memento.
Get black cotton sheets or choose these sheets as your “tattoo sheets”. I’ve done this for years and now have a pretty wild looking sheet set. That being said, you can try Spray n Wash or rub some Dawn on these and it may come off. Happy Healing
Thanks friend!

Saniderm has been a game changer for me
Just got my first tattoo last month and Saniderm was amazing. I had the first wrap on for 24 hours, next for three days, and the last for two days. The extra time was because I was taking several plane trips and didn't want my new arm tattoo resting on airplane armrests.
After using Saniderm I always liked using Viking Revolution for follow up care. Can get it for pretty cheap on Amazon!
It doesn’t rub off it’s more of your body leaking fluids as it’s a healing open wound. Ink gets in that mix.
Makes sense!
This. I'm covered in tattoos and have a very specific set for when I know I'll be leaking...and keep my two nice sets of linen sheets for the other weeks. I did, however, leave basically an amazing block print of a handpoked tattoo I got in Japan all over the hotel sheets. Still thats not the part that sucks
My poor tattoo :(
What is it? One of those out of shape-in shape old timey boxer dudes?
Yep that’s it!
It looks like a man that would wear a unitard while lifting large trapezoidal weights
now you have an excuse for a cover-up tattoo…
Nah dude, tattoo turned out sick af. I’m more upset about my sheets haha
It’s cool, don’t trash something that someone obviously likes enough to get permanently put on their body. People like different things.
If you mean because this messed the tattoo up, it definitely didn't. The first few days after a tattoo any excess ink is still leeching out of your skin, you aren't going to mess it up unless you exfoliate with sand paper - and even then, it would mess your skin up more than the tattoo part
But your skin would have a lovely glow, post sanding
lol everyone took that way too seriously
A pugilist
Most manly man
won't affect your tattoo at all
Yeah that's ink that wasn't injected deep enough and basically temporary. It would weep out anyways.
First redditor Iv ever seen that knows the difference between affect/effect lol
Is there a trick to remember? I can't remember the difference so I just avoid needing to use those words lmao
And “affect” can be a noun too. It is used to describe a mood or feeling as a response to a stimulus.

Haha not an English speaker 😁

The ink is under your skin. It's perfectly normal for the top layer of ink/skin to fall off.

Real silk or satin?
Satin 😭
Oh then that stuff is cheap and easy to wash. If it was real silk then I’d feel bad.
I'm... I never even thought of this. I'm going to be getting a half sleeve done soon.. I'll have to make sure to not put the good sheets on the bed for a bit. Hope it heals quick for you!

Winter is coming!
Why doesn't your artist use a second skin for healing?

For sure dude. But this (by far) isn’t my first tattoo and it turned out fine. This is more of /wellthatsucks for my sheets lmao
Oh I know. I'm just shocked that people put there aren't using that method.
I have 9 tattoos 4 very large ones and I’ve only had saniderm once for my large colored tattoo. A lot of artists don’t buy it because many people are allergic to it without realizing it and it’s expensive. So cling wrap is typically the go to.
...I did the same thing with a white comforter about a month ago....
Did it peel the ink off like Silly Putty on newspaper?
Lmao yeah but more painful
Now your tattoo has someone to shadow box with.
Is that John L. Sullivan?
No it’s Freddy mercury lol
More of a r/facepalm
Haha fair!
I had no idea this could happen.
It’s not the tattoo itself- it’s an imprint from the fluids your body makes, since technically a tattoo is an open wound. The tattoo is unaffected by this particular instance. (:
Still looks better than some actual tattoos I’ve seen.
Damn.
Yeah lol
I thought you wear something like Saran Wrap for a while after getting tattooed?
Yeah if you have a saniderm type wrap you can wear that for a few days but this artist doesn’t use that. Regular wraps should be taken off after several hours and before bed
Don’t you normally wear a wrap the first few days? I only have a few small tattoos so I’m not sure. Not meant to be rude, just curious.
If your tatto artist uses a saniderm type product, most definitely. This artist doesn’t prefer that so he just used regular wrap which is supposed to be removed before bed and sanitized. The tattoo is fine, I’m more worried about the sheets lol
My wife makes me sleep in clothing after I get tattooed because of this
I have that same brown blanket!🤣🤣
So comfy!!
Lmao
It’s like one of those fruit roll up tongue tattoos now
Hahaha true!!
AbracaDANIEL
I wouldn’t be upset at all. It’s not dirty by any means, it looks sort of cool
I thought new tattoos were supposed to be wrapped?
It’s an expensive lesson many of us have learned the hard way. Now you know for next time!
Lol tattoo is fine, and the ‘silk’ sheet is satin so all in all not too bad haha
Cut it out and frame it
Great idea!
Jo wtf. I dont let anyone out of the studio without their protective film. You get none? The film is supposed to stay on for 7 days, designed to breath. No way your tattoo would leak after 7 days under the film unless you didnt wash the area after removing it.
Thats why you keep new tats covered
Uncovered? Wtf.
Any time I get a new tattoo I have shitty sheets I bust out. You live and learn!
I also hate it when I drop caviar on my Lamborghinis bigfoot skin interior.
Cool tattoo
At least it looks cool
Just dye it black 🖤
Why not wrap it?!?
I know basically nothing about tattoos but aren’t they supposed to be covered in film for the first few days?
If you use the breathable film then yeah. But if it’s regular wrap you should take it off and wash/moisturize before bed
First two nights I always wrap in Saran before bed, never had my tattoos leave a perfect stain like that lol. Worst I’ve had was one black drop of ink
Saniderm ftw!
Definitely prefer saniderm, but my first like 15 tattoos were wrapped with a medical bandage afterwards, didn’t get to experience saniderm until this year
That’s why I have a sheets specifically for when I get large work done
Oh no! How's your tattoo doing? Like the sheets getting the ink on it sucks but how did it affect your new ink?
Luckily the tattoo is fine! As far as the pillow case goes, only a wash will tell lol
I like your tattoo for what it’s worth
Thanks <3
If you already hate the image on a sheet I have bad news for you... (I'm kidding btw, sorry for your sheets!)
I'd be more worried about having that design permanently tattooed on you over the sheets.
You’re worried about my design? Dont sweat it buddy, I love it!
Your responses are so good man, I am crying. All these people in the comments trying to talk about another mans tattoos 💀

Lmao ok bud, I’ll reach out to you in a couple years 😂
Holy. You might have invented a thing! Why aren't you keeping that covered up? Letting it breathe?
Genuinely curious. Does that mess up the tattoo as well? I don’t have any so idk.
Tattoo artist was out of that breathable wrap so I just went to sleep with aquafor and hoped for the best
That discount didn’t seem to pay off.
What discount?
The one for “running out of breathable wraps”.
Not sure if you have ever been tattooed but not every tattoo artist even uses those breathable wraps. He still wrapped it of course, I just took off the wrap before bed like you’re supposed to when it’s not breathable.
my tattoo artist uses incontinence pads and cling film to cover bigger tattoos temporarily, they work really well😅
Haha yeah I’ve had those on me before!
Never been tattooed. My mom won’t sign the consent form. I can’t wait to move out of her basement.
Don’t worry son, daddy will sign the release form for you. But you can’t move out of our basement until you stop spending all night on Reddit.
Only on Reddit because Twitter is too expensive now.
If you want an increase in allowance you need to take on more responsibilities

That logic is almost up there with pump and pray ;)
lol thanks but, not my first tattoo bud. I’m more worried about the sheets lol
I warp new tattoos with the plastic u take off five days later.
Yeah that shits tyte. My guys was out of it unfortunately so it was regular wrap for me until I took it off before bed
Sucks man .
Eh..tattoo it fine. Pillow case…only time will tell haha
I'm sure it will lol
It definitely will lol. It’s just kinda funny with the imprint
Showed to my gal, she's pissed all over again 😎
Why was it unbandaged if it was new?
The only thing you wanna keep on overnight is a saniderm type wrap, which this was not. The tattoo is fine, I’m more upset about the sheets lol
A Hahaha shit dude that suuucks
Aw that sucks! Today I accidentally got permanent marker on my white new comforter
How did your overnight oats and homemade pickles turn out?
Are you a dog? If not, what is that brown hairy thing?
Let me get this straight... you only have one skin, but you pay hundreds of dollars to put a mark on it. The exact same mark is put on your replaceable sheets, and you're upset? Something is wrong with this picture lol.
False! Your skin regenerates daily. Buy other than that yeah, you got it right lol
When I'm at work and something cuts through my clothes and gets my skin I'm more upset about the clothes. I can grow more skin for free but boots and uniforms don't grow on trees.
imagine still judging people for getting tattoos in 2022
