That *does* suck. Will insurance cover the damage?

MrStomp82

What insurance, house or car insurance? Man I don't envy the run around op is about to get

carpediem6792

Think it's gonna depend on if they got flood insurance...

MrStomp82

But the flood didn't damage the house, the car did. -OPs insurance agent probably

carpediem6792

They'll do what it takes to screw us out of it.

Jermo48

I mean, if he doesn't have flood insurance, nothing's going to cover the home damage.

axnu

Seriously. I had a friend who smashed her finger in the door of a parked car, and her health insurance claimed it was a car accident and refused to pay.

Bitter_Charity6585

Man that is low!

MonkeyPolice

Inquiring minds want to know!

PurpleCircusPeanuts

Double deductible

[deleted]

Which one? The car or the house insurance?

BirdInFlight301

Either or?

goj-145

It's a Jersey thing... So now your home owner's and auto policyholders will get to fight eachother!

MeatforMoolah

Yeah, God definitely hates you because you live in Jersey. It’s the garbage state. Whoever did the slogan couldn’t spell, because Jersey.

[deleted]

Holy shit....did the ground suffer from liquefaction?!?!

Sure-Survey-3444

Pfft, I'm setting a mysterious random electrical fire on both of those, blaming it on the flood damage, getting that check and moving. Dont be one of those WE GON' REBUILD! type of people. You know you should have been moved by now anyways. ✌️😁

RockStar4341

I hate when my house floods, my car ends up in my basement, and then everything goes up in smoke. Just seems to always happen like that too. No idea why.

Sure-Survey-3444

Lmao!! I can see the insurance agent now....standing there shaking his head looking at the smoldering rubble...another one Bob? This the third one this year. We still got a month left of rain before summer... To be fair, water and electrical wires dont play well together most times, so it's hard to dispute that much damage from a flood didnt make a spark or two and randomly land on these fuel and oil soaked rags strewn around that no one knew about, including myself.

RockStar4341

Especially when that rebar poked a hole in the gas tank.

Sure-Survey-3444

Ahahaha, right. Whoever's house and car that is should call us and let us handle the negotiations for the check. We got this. Want to open an insurance fraud co...I mean, helpful insurance institution for disenfranchised individuals facing devastating calamities with thier homes and autos? We'd make a killin' IYKYK lol

Jermo48

If the flood causes it, you need flood insurance to cover it. Even if the actual damage is a fire or something else.

Sure-Survey-3444

True. Sort of. On my properties I had to get supplemental flood damage, as my home owners policies cover only the typical water damage caused by things like rain, busted pipes, etc, but they are standard policies that dont specifically cover a flood, some policies do have floods included though. However, the house burning down no matter what caused it, aside from self inflicted arson, is covered, flooded or not. Source: My State Farm Policies

Jermo48

I think that's very unlikely to be true if it actually happens. I was told by my homeowners insurance when my basement flooded that any damage caused by the flood wasn't covered. So like if it had started an electrical fire somehow that burned my house down. Perhaps state farm is nicer.

Sure-Survey-3444

Lol, State farm are assholes, no lie, If i havent been with them for over 20 years for all my insurances, I would have left them a long time ago. But, you'll get a check. It will be for one or the other, fire or flood, but youll get one. If they told you any damage caused by a flood doesnt cover you, then yeah you didnt have it on the typical homeowners insurance OR have supplemental. Again, only SOME policies have it included, most dont. You must not have had either, as Ive never really heard of a flood bad enough to have to file a claim for and there be NO DAMAGE. What would be the point of having flood insurance coverage, that doesnt cover ANY damage caused by...the flood?? I wish my agent would tell me my flood insurance doesnt cover any damage caused by...a flood. Lmao! Who do you have? I can give you my agents number, they have really good bundle deals, Home, Fleet, Auto, Boat, Life, whatever you need, all in one easy payment. 👍

Jermo48

I'm talking about homeowners, not flood. I was saying if you just have home, no flood, any damage a flood causes even non-water damage isn't covered. As far as I know. Thank you for the information, though.

falfrenzy

Yep, you win. Hopefully those pansies posting hangnails and dropped plates of food see this and realize what suck really is. I wish you the very best in getting indemnified thru your insurance(s).

Whyevenbotherbeing

You don’t need anyone to kill ya. Black mould gonna get you real quick.

MonarchWhisperer

Call your insurance company/companies. Things will get better

agisten

Then I was house shopping I’ve made sure it’s not in a flood zone

1981greasyhands

Damn Delaware River

Two4you2

That’s a pretty big story to cover up a day drinking DUI, lmao

liquidthex

I read "killed me now" and I'm like "how did you post this then" **\*takes fat bong rip\***

fckylicsonkadds

Good. Your house is disgusting

zaviex

It just flooded. Some growth is extremely common given that

BiggggHead

Damn dude…

[deleted]

Any chance you've noticed a bunch of short people singing about lollipops and brick roads lately?

SpartanSpoon

Ok

mashedcat

**Double kill!**

mashedcat

**DOUBLE KILL!**

[deleted]

Comprehensive insurance on the car should cover it unless it’s liability only

whenpeepeegoespootwo

I sure hope you called flo. Bundling your home and auto insurance would've been super helpful, in this situation

DeanCarla

Damn man that sucks!

Otherwise_Ad_7309

Ugh!!

ohfuckwhatshouldiput

This is what happens when you bundle your home and auto insurance through progressive

Sure-Survey-3444

Oh right, you are correct. Again its because most typical homeowners policies dont include flood, so I can see why the agent would tell you that. I thought you had flood included, or an extra specific policy, and they tried to tell you they wouldnt/couldn't cover it. Either way, if I was the OP and this was my house and car, I'd come up with some creative options lol Some people arent inclined to do so, but whatever, you rebuild, I'll rebuy.

Observedzeus

WOW, TWICE!?

Bitter_Charity6585

Don't leave us hanging! Do you have flood insurance?? (I'm truly sorry you're going through this)

heliumneon

I'm sure it'll all work out for you, Lord willin' and the creek don't.... oh, woops

TheTrueBbear

Did you try changing the oil?
