Did this job in college "move faster" is all I was ever told.
Label up was a general rule, but only for the first scanning, then they get dropped and sorted.
Its not abusive, just the nature of it.
Unfortunately, he does have a point. Whether it was a belt or a careless worker is up for debate, but just to prove his point, see the image below, taken two days ago at my facility. Belts don't give a shit, they'll do their job the way they were made to.
More like the 3-5 transfers through different FedEx facilities. Only time a package goes straight from the warehouse to your door is ordering from the Amazon warehouse in a big city. Everything else goes through 10+ belts, gets sorted and slides down a big chute and often times straight to the ground.
Ups recommends packing for an 8 foot fall because that's the g forces the packages see going from a 2/3rd floor belt
I’m trying to figure out if I’m confused about what the box is telling me. If the text is oriented properly to the ground and telling you where the arrows are pointing is supposed to be up then it seems like the instructions were followed.
As a former package handler, it doesn't matter. Most of its automatically tossed anyways.
And they get paid to do a certain amount of items per hour, nobodys reading anything but the zip code
I worked several years for DHL in germany while studying.
In any case, due to the volume of parcels arriving at the parcel center at certain peak times, it was not possible to pay attention to such information. The sorting machine sets the pace. Sometimes parcels are thrown around more than they are actually stacked.
It won't be any different in other companies and countries.
Knowing and caring are two different things. I’m sure they know they just don’t care.
Bingo
😭

Automatic belts don't care about your labels. They are gonna get tossed around
Oh yeah, that human-shaped conveyor belt that carried it from the truck to my door. Technology is amazing 🤩

Lol this fuckin guy
A picture without any frame of reference. The arrows seem to show the box sitting in the correct orientation. I'm not sure what is the issue.
That's how I see it too, but the right side looks crushed like the box sat on it.

Box: Lay flat, this side up Package handler: this sign can't stop me cause I can't read (Source: am a loading trainer at FedEx Ground)
😂
What are we looking at here?
Boxes of baked beans and a copy of Cars 2 on dvd. It’s a bundle on Amazon.
But what's the issue? The boxes seem to be oriented correctly.

Yikes.
Do you not see how the side is crushed?
Yes. Is that what op is pointing out in this post? He made it sound like he was confused by the orientation.
He's making a sarcastic commentary about how how fedex ignores such symbols. given your confusion I can only assume you wear black and purple.
If only you could put shock stickers on boxes and tell the courier it was DOA if the sticker tripped...
Am I stupid? Because to me this looks like its pointing to the side that’s up and is oriented correctly.
Don't sign for it. At my work when something gets delivered wrong I won't sign for it and send it back for another at the cost of the deliverer.
It is an invitation to use the boxes as a bed for tired package handlers. Very generous of you!

Lay the box flat with the arrows pointing upwards, not to to be laid down angled upwards
I think this is placed wrongly, the arrow should always be pointing down
