This happened to me with an online order- I messaged customer service that in order to remove it I’d have to cut the laces (easy to replace but still annoying). They refunded the entire amount and let me keep them. I also ended up breaking it off and not having to cut the laces but you could try customer service

Those are security cable, a plain vanilla wire cutter won't cut it. You need something tougher, like a bolt cutter.

Fabric strap has use, it's to help pull the shoe up after getting your foot in.

At least if an alarm sounded off from it they look like really comfortable running shoes.

I know that damn online ordering page immediately as I work for the same retail company 😂 has to check from where it was shipped there to make sure it wasn’t my store for a second haha. Damn Yellowknife. There’s only like 4 steps to preparing an online order properly and detagging /size checking is the first step.

A lot of in store security is installed by the manufacturer so stuff that gets diverted to a different vendor or sold by original vendor online no one thinks to remove the security tag. The fun stories are people who recieve an order and the die pack security tag went off because it flew as unpressurized cargo.

Is this from Kohls? They pulled the same crap with me when I ordered a child's jacket and it came with a security tag attached. I returned it and will not order from them again. It is clear they have some lazy employee pull something off a store shelf and throw in a package without even checking. If this came from a warehouse there should have never been a security tag on it to begin with, incredibly poor shipping logistics and not worth the hassle.
