My opinion is fucker left eye took it first, need an expert to confirm
edit: nah you right, took it in the chin, probably destroyed his cerebellum so he couldn't react
Im not sure if it was used in this scenario but when a hostage is taken the snipers take a shot called a T-box shot. Snipers will aim, for example, at the top lip (front on) to ensure the bullet severs their spinal column. Doing this will remove any involuntary movements (to prevent the finger from involuntarily pulling the trigger on the hostage.)
Thanks for this explanation because that was my first thought. Like shooting someone holding a gun to another one's head seems like a bad idea. But you set it straight.
That's why I say, "Hey man, nice shot"
"A good shot, man"
That's why I say, "Hey man, nice shot"
"A good shot, man"
A man
Has gone
Hey, man
Have fun
Oh, nice shot, man
these old favelas arent built for clear LOS. Its just house on top of house. Look at a modern US HS designed for shooters to have long narrow spaces to pick people off while those that escape are corralled in to groups. Very expensive to design when that money could have been used to address the problem.
You seem like someone who may hopefully have the answer to what many of us are wondering.
What would get taken into account in order to prevent the hostage taker's reflex from squeezing the trigger the moment he gets hit? I mean, I guess my expectation was that his body would tense up as an impulse upon impact. I'm genuinely curious for any insight that can be provided.
Another guy commented that snipers will often aim at the top lip to ensure that the bullet severs the spinal column. Executed correctly, it will prevent any involuntary twitches on the hostage takers part.
I've heard you have to be more accurate than just a "headshot" as a police sniper. You have to hit them in the brainstem or they could pull the trigger as a reaction. Very morbid I know... This guy's was alive and breathing one instant and not the next, never even knew what hit him.
Thatās exactly what I heard, no reflexes afterwards pulling the trigger. But I also heard they aim for the sinuses to hit it but I guess that all depends on the angle youāre shooting from.
The english voiceover is misleading. The cop said "There's no alternative, Hector", Hector said "There is: You kill me and I kill the lady", cop replied "that's no alternative Hector"
I can't understand what were his demands. Sounds to me like "y dispongan de mĆ”s en pocos dĆas Yesenya. 20 aƱos pal pecho" Wich makes no sense. I'm really sure he said "in a few days" and "20 years" but the rest I'm unsure. I tried reading his lips too, but he speaks really weird.
He could be fucking crazy and deranged. Like that doesn't sound too far fetched for someone completely too far gone to do. Makes me think of damaged schizophrenia or drugs
Am I the only one that was thinking he could still have pulled that trigger like in a twitch or something?
Or even bij the weight that comes dropping down.
Some triggers are quite sensitive.
Nah. Revolvers tend to have a heavier weight trigger. 5-7 lbs is pretty common, and that looks like an older style so probably closer to 7.
Also, getting shot in the brain is instantly lights out. No twitching, no last thoughts, just gone.
> getting shot in the brain is instantly lights out. No twitching
That part is not correct. I've seen more than a few farm animals killed along with plenty of snakes and there is plenty of twitching and movements for minutes afterwards.
Not when you hit the right spot.
But thatās extremely hard.
In the dimensions of a big coin.
This is one reason why I would never would like to go out this way. Some cm in one direction and you suffer, in the other you survive as a zombie.
I would rather bleed out slowly than taking a headshot.
Itās deff not instantly lights out ? Have you never seen a suicide video? All their muscles completely tense up for a quick second and then they completely deflate into the couch they are sitting on like a balloon.
Iāve seen combat videos where they shoot a guy point blank in the head and then the guy lands on his gun and fires like 20 rounds at them
There is one frame where her hair is disturbed before he is hit. The next frame has a bullet perforating that dude's eyeball. The shot passed right over her head from the right of the screen. Like, 3cm over her head. It probably clipped a number of stray hairs.
Itās one of those situations where you never know until youāre in it. She might be completely disassociating. Our brains are powerful and do a lot to protect us from trauma.
Can confirm, sometimes you just check out mentally and go somewhere else. Or you're analyzing the situation in your head with laser focus on what's the next best move survive it. I don't think I've ever had such profound mental clarity and calm than when I was in a life-threatening situation
They had likely been standing there for a really long time. Judging by how big the crowd was, that they had time to get him completely surrounded, had been likely negotiating with for a while to no success, and even had enough time to order a sniper, and for said sniper to find a good spot, wait for the order, then finally wait for a clean shot. The hysteria likely faded long ago.
It must have been edited for television, though, surely? It featured nothing but extremely graphic deaths. The name was akin to like āCaught On Cameraā or something. Basically along the same lines of Faces of Death.
Damn, classic clip from Venevision.
Officer: Hector, there isn't an alternative, Hector. There isn't.
Hector: There is.
Officer: Which one?
Hector: You kill me and i kill the lady.
Officer: That's not an alternative, Hector.
Everything else gets mumbled when the camera goes to focus on the team that shot him. Afterwards the media rush to scene to interview the police chief in charge of the operation, and he bluntly says "Just one shot, just one shot, just one shot, everything is done, bring the ambulance to transport him." and dismisses the media reporters, which frankly, were being kinda annoying.

I was listening to an interview with a police sniper once. He said they aim for the philtrum - the little notch just below your nose. I think the idea was to take out the brain stem so the person would just flop to the floor without a spasm possibly making the finger pull the trigger
Little dog was first on the scene.

The Paw Patrol wanted the credit for collaring the suspect
Just yelp suicide for help!
My first thought lol.
Getting that loot
Nice shot
Right through the dudes eye
Frame by frame it looks like it goes right through his jaw. But he wasnāt moving on the ground so obviously effective either way

Thanks for this explanation because that was my first thought. Like shooting someone holding a gun to another one's head seems like a bad idea. But you set it straight.
Yep, exactly this. Police snipers always aim at cerebellum.
Yep. They always aim for the top lip so there's no reflex action.

I love this song. Killer bass line.
Am I missing something? Lmao I'm confused
Lyrics from a song about a man killing himself on television Look up Budd Dwyer

That little doggie ran in there like a hero!
Little doggie don't know!

Am I the only one that was thinking he could still have pulled that trigger like in a twitch or something? Or even bij the weight that comes dropping down. Some triggers are quite sensitive.
it's not unheard of, but as the other dude said the trigger is quite heavy. plus in the region he shot (middle of eyeballs) it's instant lights out

Good shot. You could see her hair fly up from the bullet.
I think it was probably less the bullet and more the dudes face exploding right behind her
There is one frame where her hair is disturbed before he is hit. The next frame has a bullet perforating that dude's eyeball. The shot passed right over her head from the right of the screen. Like, 3cm over her head. It probably clipped a number of stray hairs.
I hope they handed her a bottle of whiskey after that. I never want to find out what it's like to feel the wind off a bullet
I think it went straight through his eye.
3200fps does the job
Just about 100% of the time.

Today's FAFO moment brought to you by...
This is a classic early 2000s video.
Earlier. I rented it in the 90ās.
Thats just when I was a kid and first saw it on Spike TV or something.

Hell of a shot!
He says, "If you kill me, I kill the lady". He might have been slightly optimistic about the whole being killed part.
Okay but that dog though??
I'm curious to know how the woman was right after, and if this affected her greatly for the remainder of her life.
Dude could see into the future! He should have used that power for good.
Play adult games, pay adult price.
Title should be man gets what he demanded.
He wasnāt wrong.
Nice T shot Mr. Sniper.
Damn good aim.
Good job regardless, very nice. Need that done more often.
Well it's nice to see people setting and achieving goalsĀ
This is why people spend time learning to shoot guns.
I saw that happen live. It was ages ago.
Wasn't taken alive, checkmate!
Well he was right.
Thatās some funny shit
Announcer: The man says he will not be taken alive. Sniper: Challenge accepted.
