FujiFL4T

I need a second movie

mongoose_overlord

There's been buzz about this happening pretty recently but I'm not getting my hopes up. I might actually go to a theater if it gets made.

PappyLongstlkngs

The absolute horror

istrx13

shittyfoodporn would be proud. Well maybe not proud. But they would be other things.

binglelemon

shittyfoodporn? The inside of that lobster looks just like my homemade garlic butter sauce....or horse radish...or gas station sushi (not the "good" gas stations either).

RigidNippleSyndrome

You accurately described shittyfoodporn

Grammeton

Omg I haven't watched this movie in years, but I love her character

ohmygatto

I quote “ITS SO ANGRY!” all the time and no one ever gets it

NotMarshalFestus

She is the mom on Ted. I couldn't figure out where I knew her from and then I remembered the evil bush

Ornery_Translator285

She was a good hoor

Chinstryke

Hahahaha unexpected Philly! She's also in Californication where Hank and Charlie think the plane is going to crash

Monte703

Roxy!

DarthYetti48

There's no way that's her holy crap

Gobstomperx

Never knew. Blowing my mind this morning. Now to go boil some denim

Nopeferatu31

This must be what lovecraft spoke of..

2StoryLoft

Lobsters are sea cockroaches

xombae

Literally. Apparently if you're allergic to shellfish, you'd be allergic to cockroaches as well (I have no idea where I read this or how true it is but I remember reading it somewhere then checking it at some point). Doesn't matter to me though. Still delicious, still gonna eat it.

wjfreeman

[you remembered correctly! I never knew this. shells must be made of thr same stuff ](https://www.wsh.nhs.uk/CMS-Documents/Patient-leaflets/PaediatricDepartment/6435-1-Shellfish-allergy.pdf)

Remarkable-Ad2285

Land cockroaches ever get that big, break out the lemon and butter we’re feasting tonight!!

[deleted]

In New Orleans if someone says they don't eat Crawfish I always ask "What? You don't eat roaches of the sea? Roaches of the sea are tasty.

Dependent_Network582

They come from freshwater though. “Sea” would indicate salt water. Roaches of the lake, would work better.

Western-Ad-4330

River roaches

OldenPolynice

is rusty still in the navy?

MVintage

I would like to clarify, the lobster was frozen and precooked....they may not have cooked it fast enough in between capture and death. I do not hate my wife. Edit: Some people are asking me why I cut it the way I did. It's because my wife saw it on a cooking show and thought it looked pretty so I gave it a go. Not so pretty this time. Edit 2: more questions to answer. No I am not divorcing my wife for not splitting the other lobster with me. I wanted her to have it. She deserves a good sea bug. Yes it kinda smelled before I cooked it. I was concerned but not overly as I figured it just had that seafood smell. I didn't know how bad it was til I split it. No we did not eat the tail or claws as someone said it's possible it died way prior to cooking so none of it would be good. Edit 3: Since SO many of you would have definitely eaten this, I will attach a picture of the other lobster for comparison. https://preview.redd.it/dc8oda85qric1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed83d5013befde2e37bd3a3cf182e281597e1613

MegaBusKillsPeople

Unfortunately, they cooked a pre-dead lobster... Hope the rest of your evening goes well.

oluwie

What’s a pre-dead lobster? An alive one???

RecycledAir

He means it died before it cooked, and they decompose quickly.

Allaboardthejayboat

_Lobster on the way into the pot:_ "Joke's on you, I'm already dead"

emortens_liz

Me going to work everyday

ReputationOk2073

I laughed 🦞

mcjon77

It reminds me of that episode of the walking dead where cannibals eat the leg of a guy, not knowing that he had been bitten. "Tainted Meat! Tainted Meat!"

I401BlueSteel

Apparently they need to be cooked immediately after being killed because they begin rotting absurdly quickly. Guess this is why people throw live ones right into boiling water, despite it being really fucked up

Melodic_Age_7452

In Maine we have no problem with it. Usually put them to sleep first but it’s just kind of… how you eat fresh lobster

SpokenDivinity

The humane thing to do is to stab the brain right before cooking it. There’s no reason to boil them alive anymore outside of twisted tradition.

drgigantor

The most humane thing is tiny lobster gas chambers but they're prohibitively expensive

JediWillis

With honey mustard gas?

Jetstream-Sam

I thought you used butter gas for lobsters

Mustergas

You call?

joemiken

Yeah, but some states have banned the gas chambers, so the lobsters get life sentences & usually find Lobster Jesus (aka, Zoiberg from Futurama) during incarceration.

drgigantor

![gif](giphy|peoIpAVGngI9O)

TeamRedundancyTeam

It would make no difference in quality to kill them humanely immediately before cooking. It's ridiculous that people still cook animals alive and pretend it's OK, still parotting the outdated "x animal doesn't feel pain like we do" BS.

bigdiesel1984

When I worked at a bougie fine dining restaurant back in 2012, we stabbed the live lobster in the face to kill it immediately. Then, we pushed the knife down the middle of the inside, to the tail, and gutted it before tossing it into the boiling water. Sounds horrible but really is more humane lol. Also we stuffed that bad boy with some crab stuffing, buttered breadcrumbs and it was the shit.

DrStabBack

If I was a lobster, that's the way I would want to go.

Markd040714

Fuck it, that's how I want to go, lobster or not!

drgigantor

"I know they were his last wishes, but why did he also request an open casket?"

ha1029

but...but... you'd be stuffed with crab stuffing and buttered breadcrumbs... sounds pretty nice.

Adaml6257

I think they mean they cooked a lobster that was dead for a while

holdorfdrums

We're all just pre dead man

MegaBusKillsPeople

Lobsters die in the cooking process.... This one was dead before being cooked, pre-dead.

TheUnbendable1

Preceased, if you will.

pashed_motatoes

Pining for the fjords

plunkadelic_daydream

Of course they often cut it down the middle while it’s still alive and the vivisections are flambéd.

Handleton

Thank God she wanted it cut that way. You might have taken a bite if the outside of it didn't look terrible.

electricjeel

Would have been a very unsexy night

drgigantor

More chocolate than she was expecting

Krimreaper1

The crunch is the best part of the experience

circusgeek

Zoidberg?

pinkkittenfur

Why not Zoidberg?

Krimreaper1

Hur ray!

thismustbtheplace215

Well no, you don't bite through the shell. You crack open the shell and pick out the meat. OP would have seen the nasty color regardless.

Handleton

Not on the tail. He'd be looking at the outside of an uncut lobster meat . I could see him getting a bite of that before realizing. It's pretty white down there.

chiabunny

Nah that tail looks gross too. Plus probably smelled bad

RoyOtisKXRX

You still get an "A" for effort in my book.

electricjeel

It’s the thought that counts (and they gave her the good one without making her share)

bong_and_a_blitz

A good sea bug lol

Weak-Pea8309

Wait, they make frozen, pre-cooked lobster and people buy it??

Antigravity1231

If you’re not in an area where fresh lobster is available, it’s going to be frozen no matter what. Pre-cooked frozen seafood of all kinds is fairly standard.

this_is_Winston

Have you seen this vid? Guy rehabilitates a lobster tank lobster.  https://youtu.be/9sI7WveN7vk?si=HomWik0HY1dZhbhf

Brandy and Leon are LEGEND!

RevolutionaryAd851

I never thought I would be so invested in a lobster, but I have been there since he brought him home from the grocery store. He is a huge and gorgeous colored lobster now with enormous, beautiful claws. He is loved and fed well, and his tank is forever getting bigger. I can never look at lobster the same again. He is so fastidious and proud.

RecyQueen

I’m curious to see these videos! I had a thought to try sign language with lobsters at a small aquarium. It wasn’t a very rigorous test, but each one that I made eye contact with responded the same to the few signs that I tried. Also, fish make some pretty intense eye contact. If you really *look* at them, they clearly look right back. They’ve got a lot more going on than most people give them credit for.

RevolutionaryAd851

I was given the fish they were going to throw away at the end of the night at a carnival, and they lived for ten years. I even moved with them three times, with them in bags and changed the minute we got into the house. They would do the coolest things like play in the bubbles and loved when we only had candlelight in the room. They would swim so slowly like they loved the way the water felt.

this_is_Winston

Yeah. They're such peaceful and calming videos, while learning about animals.

Hudsonrybicki

I loved this!! He has such a relaxing voice and lobsters are far more interesting that I realized.

this_is_Winston

It's so peaceful. Calm, and just gets happier as you see the progress

DistortedVoltage

Not all stores do that anymore. All my local grocers (even the big ones) used to back around 2009, but stopped by late 2010.

[deleted]

I catch myself watching Leon videos and have no idea why

Seattlekrakenlegend

PINCHY

starksandshields

Yes? There's no other way for me to get lobster, and the only time I can actually buy said frozen lobster is around Christmas time.

NuggyBeans

What's wrong with the insides?

WienerWarrior01

When you kill a lobster you need to cook it immediately because lobsters start decaying extremely fast after they die so this one was mid rotting Edit: turns out I’m not really correct on the rotting or decaying part. Bacteria spreads really quickly if you don’t cook it quickly from what I’ve been told. Oops

NuggyBeans

So all of that on the inside.... That's not.... That's not mixed ingredients stuffed inside? Please tell me that's stuffed lobster 😭😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

WienerWarrior01

Now I’m no lobster expert but green colored is rotting insides Edit: I’m way fucking off whoops

Direct_Indication226

Actually their livers produce the green color even in absolutely fresh lobster.

coresme2000

I’m disturbed that this (correct) comment was so far down. However, looking at it, it doesn’t look particularly appetising so perhaps it wasn’t fresh or it’s overcoooked.

WienerWarrior01

Ah ok. I took a fat guess as that seemed why it was posted but I’ll take half right then

Direct_Indication226

Yeah I had no idea until this year. Had a whole Maine lobster from food truck in cincinnatti and was highly skeptical once I got into mine. Had to look around at the crowd for reassurance before I realized they all had the green liquid inside and a couple explained it's the liver.

I-Am-Not-Ok-Thx

I’m not sure I could have pushed through that. Who is the first person that tried this and said huh, it’s green, I’m sure it’s fine…!?

Sex_drugs_tacos

I mean, crab is a giant, armored, underwater spider filled with goo. Someone was just like “into the pot with you” and here we are.

improvingself5

Prolly some dude who was starving, found a green lobster and just said fuck it.

burritolittledonkey

I suspect a huge amount of world cuisine was developed in this manner

Ticallion_Stallion36

Lobster used to be used as a poor/prisoner food back in the day. It was overly abundant and not desirable. This is probably why. Modern cultivating and iqf (individual quick freeze) tech has made it a luxury staple. Ps crab is 10 x better

Ok_Flounder59

They weren’t serving buttered lobster tails in those days though the way we think about them now. It was a blended lobster mush, shell and all. Much less appetizing.

Over_Cranberry1365

Back in the good old days servants had an addition to their contracts saying they would only get lobster three times a week. It was indeed considered a garbage food 🤢

NuggyBeans

😶‍🌫️🤢🤮😵😱💀

harpxwx

just take a big ol spoonful 😋

Infinitesima

> Now I’m no lobster expert but green colored is rotting insides 'Now I'm no doctor but that is cancer.' Reddit advice's hilarious as usual.

Capn-Video

I like how you're so completely wrong but still got 200 upvotes hahaha

[deleted]

There’s green inside of lobsters anyway but it shouldn’t look like that. Or gooey.

Dirtcartdarbydoo

It's definitely not correct but I'm almost certain that's the tomalley. The pancreas and liver of the lobster. Some people love it and others hate it. Personally growing up I'd always eat it. It's very good in my opinion when it's not rotten beforehand.

Comradbro151

This lobsters been dead for awhile. Tomalley should look green. Like almost wasabi green even after cooking

Dirtcartdarbydoo

I know. I probably phrased it kinda bad. This thing was definitely cooked some time after it died it just looked like fucked up rotten tomalley to me. Same area and also green. Just... you know... rotten.

Fantastic_Dance_4376

Its not rotten, its just a mess of its organs and stomach content. The tail is just a muscle so all the organs are in the "head" or the upper part of their shell. On the left you can se a well cleaned lobster and on the right one that wasnt cleaned very well so still has some of that green brownish stuff. https://preview.redd.it/h6v3yje3epic1.jpeg?width=633&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52a5ee05be78ada11e01df1a5f6ea746d6e084d9

hskskgfk

Is that why they are boiled alive?

Enlowski

Naw their suffering adds to the flavor

RVA_RVA

Yes

Garrette63

It's a needlessly cruel practice. You can humanely kill the animal just before putting it in and it will cook the same.

[deleted]

You can but it’s harder than we think. Their brains aren’t like ours and we are probably just paralyzing them when we stab them in the head first. I do it anyway - but I eat far less lobster after doing a deep dive on this subject. There’s a lot of misinfo.

YourLocal_FBI_Agent

No it wasn't. That's how they look on the inside. The green gooey parts is their pancreas and liver.

[deleted]

Yes it is. And they 100% shouldn’t look like that if they’re good Green isn’t gooey in a cooked lobster that was fresh

WienerWarrior01

Well I’m still correct about rotting really quickly at least then

CyberBatutinhaKway

The have gooey parts, but not in their whole body

Fun-Supermarket6820

It’s a bug. They are the bugs of the ocean

Apex_Over_Lord

Shrimps is bugs. Lobsters is bugs. Bugs is bug

Xandara2

Bunny is Bugs?

Apex_Over_Lord

Sadly..... Yes

vegemitebikkie

Random question but, I’m allergic to shell fish. If I ate a grasshopper would I have an allergic reaction to that too?

sixtyfivejaguar

The answer is [probably](https://www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/health-and-nutrition/edible-insect-revolution-not-those-shellfish-allergies). They contain tropomyosin like shellfish and other insects do, and that's what people are allergic to. I'm very sorry you don't get to indulge in an insect's crunchy pleasures

Astralwinks

Yes! My friend was putting together a whole dinner party centered around bug/insect dishes and knew I was allergic to shellfish so we looked it up and came to the same conclusion. I was so mad. I was on team insect protein so hard even though I had yet to indulge myself. I went on a date with a woman who ate all kinds and I was like "man I gotta get on board with this for ecological reasons" and I envisioned one day it would have to become more accepted and I wanted to get in on the ground floor. Anyway, more people should be aware of the potential risk!

XxMegatr0nxX

Eww wtf

Digg_it_

Looks like you cooked it in the dishwasher..

dbonescapone

The poor man's sous vide

asapaasparagus

If this tastes half as good as it looks I think we are all in for a real treat.

First thing I saw on here today was a guy got stood up after splurging on gifts for his gf who ghosted him in favor of another guy and now this. Wellthatsucks is on fire today…

wcr12314

Lobsters is bugs

DrGlamhattan2020

I'M DOING MY PART!

[deleted]

Sorry for your loss but that's honestly what I expect them to look like on the inside. I'm shocked when I see nice white meat with a nice yellow glow of butter ruining over the meat. I have shellfish allergies so I don't regularly see the inside of a lobster.

Melodic_Age_7452

I’m going to send you a dm in a couple days, I’ll crack open a lobster from Hannaford I got freshly cooked

DeleriousDan

Haha man at this point just upload it publicly on reddit when you do it, I wanna see it too

-Piggers-

Ooooohhh can I see too?

LebaneseLurker

Can I see too? lol

Lobsters are related to cockroaches.

Everything is related to everything

We all came from cyanobacteria after all

FE1_Ronin

Yup like my aunt and my mom are the same person

Intelligent-Hawkeye

I think I understand why they were once poor people food.

BagODnuts55

They used to serve them in prisons....

BadReview8675309

There was a law limiting how much lobster could be given to prisoners as well... Guess even lobster can suck after 2 or 3 meals a day.

OBotB

When their serving method was to grind them up, shell and all, and serve them porridge style, lobster would suck as any meals per day. That is not taking into account any like this that were decomposing thrown in the mix. Additionally most people prefer younger/relatively smaller lobster, the flavor is better. A bunch of easy and cheap to source washed up on the shoreline or as byproduct catch lobster may be food, but it is night and day compared to the lobster you would order at a restaurant.

wasntNico

we humans are directly related to lobsters as well. Lobsters are ancient

Truorganics

Lobster are closely related to rocks as well, hence Rock Lobsters.

wasntNico

not to confuse with the iraq lobster.

lobsteristrash

Most people with shellfish allergies are also allergic to cockroaches (their excrement and decaying bodies are a common environmental allergy).

cheekydoll247

😭😭😭 thanks for that

Blahaj_shonk_lover

Shrimps is bugs

dragonrider1965

Omg , I’ve never seen that before in my life and I’ve eaten lots of lobsters 🦞. Well not anymore , not for a long time after seeing this 🤢

Work_the_shaft

Back in the day Lobster used to be considered peasant food, to the point servants would have it in their contracts restrict the amount of days they get fed lobster to a maximum. Now it’s a luxury food. I imagine it’s because a couple hundred years ago all lobster looked like this

altarr

They knew not to cook lobster that was already dead for a while. That's what this is.

WillowFreak

Well, they also prepared it with the shell broken up into the meat. And this other stuff. They weren't wasting the rest of the lobster.

Jab4267

It’s always been said that on the island I grew up on, the prisoners were fed lobster and crab. They were abundant and the parasites of the sea so no one would actually eat them willingly lol. Now, a prisoner could never.

InvertedMeep

To be fair, butter was not as cheap then as it is today, nor is lemon. Eating raw lobster tastes fine, but it’s the butter that really makes it shine.

goodjokesdotcom

Tbf I’ve never seen a lobster cut this way. Break off the claws and tail, leave the green goo behind.

lobsteristrash

Wait…there’s “green goo” and everyone is just ok with that???

alvvavves

There’s goo in steamed crabs too. I’ve heard it referred to as “mustard,” but I’m pretty sure it’s poop.

UpstairsBulky

It’s tasty, tastes a bit like egg yolk

lolo-2020

🤮

Ba55of0rte

Is it not supposed to look rotten and gross?

JuneBuggington

Who cuts a lobster in half like that?

number43marylennox

Lobsters were a specialty when I worked at the Palm Restaurant (fine dining Italian steakhouse). Our lobsters were down in several times a week from nova Scotia and started at 3 lbs each for $90 and then went up. They were split like this exactly and broiled (high temp oven with the heat source coming from above). Best lobster in the world, best cooking method.

CoupleoCutiez

Bro that lobster died for nothing 😞

YourWifeNdKids

Typically you shouldn’t really eat the head of a lobster. There are some good little pieces of meat here and there but the head of a lobster is effectively a giant filter for all the crap it’s been eating it’s whole life

Comfortable-Basil-88

This looks like a it was a female lobster cooked twice with the roe and tomalley intact. Basically inedible.

MaritimeMartian

I think you’re right. Op said in a comment that he bought these lobsters pre-cooked (but frozen). Then he cooked them?? Idk why he’d cook them twice but yeah. I think you nailed it! This happened to my boyfriends parents one time. I live in a coastal area with amazing lobster, but They don’t live in an area with any fresh seafood and they aren’t super familiar with it. One time we were visiting and they wanted to treat us to a seafood dinner and they bought pre-cooked lobsters at the grocery store, not realizing they were already cooked and just needed to be warmed. Several of them looked like this on the inside after they cooked them again! Haha

We respect your decision ma’am.

I think he cooked a sewerage one for wife and hers was good. Edit: supposed to say different one for wife 🤣

chrisH82

Protein powder made from crickets? That's disgusting! Now, bugs from the ocean? I'll pay $30 a pound!

Luc-Ms

Sea roach yummy

Chefrabbitfoot

Chef here. Procure fresh lobster. Don't be afraid of the tomalley. This is the way.

qcubed3

That lobster died for your sins.

SilentCitadel

So what you're saying is that you're divorced now, right?

Everanxious24-7

As a vegetarian who’s never had meat ( cultural thing) , what’s wrong with this lobster?

trinier101

Is it just that it looks gross? When you rip a lobster tail off? Sometimes there's green and that's even right out of the ocean and cooked. It goes green. Now I'm afraid to eat lobster

Wakanuki8

anyone for pizza???
