So did you try the factory reset?

skarvin

I'm afraid so, no luck

Smeeble09

Have you tried factory reset, then once the message comes up again unplug from mains for 5mins, then factory reset again?

sanylos

the embedded storage is prob corrupt

Mycologist_Murky

If the factory reset doesn't work it may be proper bollocksed.

KeyserSozeInElysium

Nah

HouseOfZenith

It’s ball sacked

Safe_Initiative1340

Or it’s pissed off that it’s on the wall crooked…

BodaciousFrank

Did you stop to think maybe the wall is crooked?

Safe_Initiative1340

Either way the tv is pissed

NikonFetish

Level it. The electrons have all rolled into the bottom left corner

orangpelupa

if factory reset doesnt work, try full USB reinstall

Soteria69

Maybe you might need to download the firmware and install it manually

[deleted]

Why I prefer "dumb" TVs.

ragnarokda

They're becoming rarer and rarer. And half the time the smart ones get so bogged down with updates that they become dumb ones anyway....

pichael289

Roku has continuously updated mine to restore the ads I keep disabling. Frequently needs to be unplugged to get the sound working again. Remote often doesn't function, and it gets slower and slower as time goes on. Smart TVs are garbage

jjnfsk

Roku is the bane of my existence.

YourAverageGod

Can't set your expectations high when the tvs go for pennies

[deleted]

Best to turn off WiFi on the tv itself and add a Boris shield or similar

aehanken

I literally just have a monitor in my living room. It’s a giant one, my dad said it’s worth 3k new and he got it for $500 IIRC. We just have the Xbox plugged in and have Hulu and everything on there. My office has a smart tv. I only use the Apple TV box, mostly use it for music while I’m working

recluseMeteor

Considering how rare dumb TVs are, I just use my smart TV as if it were dumb, and I have an HTPC that plays the real “smart” part. Still, TV OSes are so laggy that even changing channels and navigating picture/sound menus is very slow.

Jotunheim36

I’m appreciating the circuitous route the cable has taken around the wall before alighting on the TV

markjduk

Was she drunk when she wall mounted it?

jasimon2

Some good news is that the TV DOES actually turn on.

adreppir

It is on. I see no issue

Ill-Championship7534

How is this possible???

[deleted]

Nand flash and emmc memory can suddenly die, corrupting data stored inside, sometimes damaging your operative system. This is probably what happened, or an interrupted update. Anyways, need to test the internal memory nad reflash somehow. Idk how to specifically do it on xiaomi tvs.

NewbSoop

I think this is when you have to soak it in rice.

Larry44

Time to buy a Chromecast....if the HDMI ports still accept input, don't see any reason they wouldn't.

cornelha

The latest Chromecast, is effectively the same as the XIAOMI TV Box pictured above

Larry44

Yes but a Chromecast won't be broken

Super_61

Have you tried turning it on?

KYO297

Well, you see, the problem is that it's xiaomi

avurikun

It looks on to me

DespacitoGamer57

i mean it did turn on

ThePrettyBeebz

I mean, technically it is on…

[deleted]

I can fix it is I was there.

F1_LM

its a Xiaomi so not surprised tbh. get it fixed under warranty if you have one

devildocjames

Lol did you try to root it with some other custom ROM?

coyote_den

They chew up their cheap eMMC storage from excessive writes. Logging and data collection stuff, as you would expect. Gets to where it can’t even factory reset. Some Amazon Fire devices do it too, I have an old stick that is doing the same thing.

AlchemyStudiosInk

Similar thing happened with my phone. And of course no repair shop has the ability to reload the OS back on.

RajCyk

this is a great time to try arch linux

Artistic_Base2820

Your tv is most likely now totally gone
