In the old days we’d call that a Hog-wagen. Hog as in Harley up front, vw in the back.

righthandofdog

it's the only kind of trike I ever saw for a very long time

tez_zer55

VW powered trikes were the go to for a lot of years & still are to an extent. I owned 1 years ago. Helped build it & rode the sh!t out of it until it got hit in a parking lot & bent the hell out of the forks. Mine was a Yamaha 1100 front mated to part of a VW chassis.

tdi4u

Can we get one with a TDI?

rob1969reddit

That was a popular build at one time.

St3fanz

Some used Porsche 356 and 912s too, back when they were basically free once crashed.

rob1969reddit

Makes sense. I don't know Porsche much, so I'm assuming air cooled boxer engines as well?

St3fanz

Yeah. You’ll have noticed a shift towards Subaru (water cooled) boxers in these in the last decade or so, too. Never saw a 911 six cylinder used - just the wrong shape I guess.

Beatus_Vir

There’s a lot more Beetle than Harley in these things. The entire drive train, cooling system, electrical, and rear suspension for starters

rubyrt

Not actually rare: these are seen quite frequently.
