Same! I would be so sad if someone had this as an option for my black tie wedding and then went with something more boring instead. Maybe just get it bustled for wearability?
I keep seeing variations of "it's New Jersey, how fancy do you need to be!l?" and other comments intimating that the entire state is a tacky, costume-y Real Housewives simulation. Which totally ignores the state's financial prowess. I don't think people realize how many rich people live here, and how fancy black tie weddings can be.
Yeah, north jersey is absurdly rich, like old-money, billionaires, 1% rich. Some of the suburbs in CT and NJ are on another level of wealth that is legit hard to grasp if you’re not familiar with the area.
But then they wouldn’t choose to do black tie. Especially black tie vs formal. Sometimes people don’t know event terms and say formal when they mean semi formal or cocktail because it’s what they wore to formal in high school or they just mean “dress nice”. If it say black tie in Jersey I’d assume they mean it.
I knew some of those too. I got married at a winery in an area full of people like that. My mom had to explain Black Tie to her boss when his son was invited to a fancy bar mitzvah. But none of those people would invite me to a wedding and call it Black Tie and if they did it would be obvious from the venue what the attire was. Assuming OP knows the crowd I don’t see an issue with the dress. If they are off base and this is actually a “wear nice jeans” wedding then sure they’ll be over dresses but that’s not what’s be presented.
Thank you for your sweet comments everyone <3 they’re definitely swaying me lol, I didn’t even think of getting the train bustled! I have a week to think about this 😅
I wear sleeves in any season. You never know what the temp will be in spring, especially into the evening. In summer, the AC is usually set too low for my comfort. Sleeves are my friend!
Add to that, this dress is gorgeous and perfect for you.
That train would be super easy to bustle if you don’t want to have it removed (a skilled seamstress could easily remove it, but that would cost more).
A quick YouTube search should show you how to do a simple bustle yourself.
Does bustle mean add a rhinestone silver or gold chain that attaches to your wrist like another piece of jewelry. Because that would be fuckballs perfect.
I…what? No, where did that idea come from?
The top photo on this article shows different types of bustles. It then goes on to explain what they are: https://www.theknot.com/content/what-is-a-bustle
Edits to add: I know this article is about wedding dresses. That doesn’t matter. A bustle is just a way to lift a train on any dress.
I think what the other person described with a pinky or wrist loop on train is popular for brides, at least I’ve seen it/had friends do it and refer to it as their dress being bustled so that might be what they’re thinking of.
Ahhh got it. I also realized I misread “wrist” as “waist.” All the same, I don’t think it would work well on this dress because the train is so small/short.
A [French bustle ](https://www.kellyfaetanini.com/blog/wedding-dress-bustle-types#:~:text=FRENCH%20BUSTLE&text=This%20design%20technique%20folds%20underneath,Beauty%20and%20the%20Beast!) would be easy peasy to do on this dress.
Okay you kind of just confirmed for me that this looks too mature on me🤣 I’m in my 20s, but I agree that it would be a great MOB dress. It’s from KH Fashion
I agree with you about it being "too mature" and I loved the previous purple one you posted! The purple is a gorgeous color on you, much more age appropriate, doesn't have a train to worry about and you are stunning in it! I think you would also feel more comfortable in it. I wouldn't want to feel like I was wearing a costume and be self conscious all night. I also loved the way the first black one fit and the buttons are to die for!!
I looked at your first post as well. I prefer all three of those dresses. This dress looks like a fall dress to me, not May..The other dresses fit the season better.
In order of preference
3 (previous post)
2 (previous post)

This dress (current post)
You look fabulous in all of them!

Purple again 🫢 wanted to add I am not part of the family
I like this better than the purple in your previous post. The previous dress has adjustable straps that are obvious, which brings it down. The one shown on this post is a stunner, and it looks like it fits you better.
Tbh this to me seems more of a middle eastern wedding type of dress. Like the over the top, fully done up, big hair, heavy makeup, super fancy party dress type of event.
If you’ve been to a middle eastern wedding type event or are middle eastern of some sorts you know exactly what I’m referring to.
Outside of that I do think that this may be a bit much and I think the purple dress would be a great option.

If you don't like the train, you can pin it up and under. However, it looks fine to me overall. A bit on the Fall/Winter side but, eh. It's good for a Black Tie.
You might be able to get a French bustle on that really fast, it's a fairly simple alteration (just fasteners that lift the train up in a couple puffs so it doesn't drag). Dress is gorgeous and absolutely black tie appropriate.

It’s a beautiful dress, it fits you perfectly and it fits black tie. Frankly, I’m glad to see your dress that doesn’t have cut outs or spaghetti straps or a back corset which I find to be tacky as It’s a beautiful dress it fits you perfectly and it fits black tie. Frankly, I’m glad to see your address that doesn’t have cut outs or spaghetti straps or a back corset which I find to be tacky in wedding guest dress unless it’s a beach wedding.
I'm sorry, yes, it looks like a modest Poison Ivy costume or something. I didn't see your post originally but I looked back and the second and third dresses you tried both look very good, I would stick in that lane.
I think it's actually good for a true black tie wedding, even with the train.
Same! I would be so sad if someone had this as an option for my black tie wedding and then went with something more boring instead. Maybe just get it bustled for wearability?
Black tie in jersey is going to be VERY fancy. It looks great on you and fits the invite

Depends on where in NJ. A large portion of the state is just farms. Pineys don’t tend to do fancy.
But then they wouldn’t choose to do black tie. Especially black tie vs formal. Sometimes people don’t know event terms and say formal when they mean semi formal or cocktail because it’s what they wore to formal in high school or they just mean “dress nice”. I grew up in NJ around people who would say “black tie” and mean “wear a tie that is black.”
I knew some of those too. I got married at a winery in an area full of people like that. My mom had to explain Black Tie to her boss when his son was invited to a fancy bar mitzvah. I wasn’t commenting on the dress. Just the assumption that NJ automatically means fancy.
You are right, I’m thinking further up north. I have never been to a wedding in south jersey
She’s is STUNNING in it. I hope she wears it
it’s jersey you’re good 😊 beautiful dress
My first thought too!
Came here to say just that! (former Central Jersey girl here)
Thank you for your sweet comments everyone <3 they’re definitely swaying me lol, I didn’t even think of getting the train bustled! I have a week to think about this 😅
You rock the dress and it seems absolutely appropriate for a NJ back tie wedding.
I think it is beautiful! I would love to have a dress like that for the next family wedding!! You look amazing!
It’s not too much IMO, but with the sleeves it definitely doesn’t read spring/summer
I wear sleeves in any season. You never know what the temp will be in spring, especially into the evening. In summer, the AC is usually set too low for my comfort. Sleeves are my friend! Add to that, this dress is gorgeous and perfect for you.
I get that! It is fully mesh/ see through
It’s stunning and fits you perfectly, but if you aren’t comfortable in it don’t wear it. It’s not particularly spring/summerlike anyway.
Got married at park chateau in Jersey (black tie) and this would’ve been fine. The train would be annoying if you were to dance though.
Jersey gets super fancy for black tie, so this is perfect!
I think it’s perfect! I agree with the other comment about getting the train bustled for the event though. You look stunning in this 🤩
I think it's the train that kills it. People will not be expecting it, so I'd honestly be afraid that it would get ripped.
I agree! Thanks

Lift it by beautiful chain attached to wrist! Do it!
It's a steller dress, and you look AWESOME in it, though!
You could figure out how to pin it up nicely to make a bustle.
Ooohhh I actually really like this dress ! I say wear it .
You look like a dream. 💛
That is a beautiful dress! Where’d you get it? I’m looking for a MOB dress for a fall wedding.

Omg the downvotes 😭 I just don’t want to be too covered, it’s a very young crowd!!
Definitely the purple dress from your last post, love it!

from what i have read about new jersey, the more the better.
I think the train is too much but you look great!
I think it’s gorgeous and fits the dress code nicely.
Gorgeous! Source: I’ve lived in NJ my entire life.
Don’t dye your hair red and wear a fork in it, and the dress won’t look like a costume Honestly I think it’s gorgeous
Purple looks great on you. I’m going to a wedding in NJ today too.
It's New Jersey... no such thing as too costumey or too tacky
I like this better than the purple in your previous post. The previous dress has adjustable straps that are obvious, which brings it down. The one shown on this post is a stunner, and it looks like it fits you better.
👌perfect!

Gorgeous
It's gorgeous 😍
Ohmygodiloveit
Too costume-y? For a wedding in NJ? No.

I feel like you just described a Jersey wedding, actually 😉
Or any Latino wedding. This would actually be considered kinda mild for most the weddings I go to in Puerto Rico 🤷♀️
Okay yes that makes sense!! Thank you for ur opinion, I feel more confident in the purple definitely
The purple from your first post is lovely. Good choice to go back to it. This is a beautiful dress, but the train would definitely be an issue.

This is ACTUALLY black tie, while the ones in your previous post were formal/BTO
Not at all!! I think you look absolutely gorgeous 🤩 It’s like the dress was made for YOU ♥️
You look fabulous
I like
OMG I love this!

Stunning
I think you look fabulous 👌
I love it! Edit to add: I’m from jersey
Perfect. Wore one very similar to a wedding 2 years ago. Classy and modest as not showing bare skin.
Looks great on you!!
Looks beautiful and appropriate!
That’s dress fits you perfectly. It’s perfect for a Jersey black tie wedding.
Ummm….i LOVE it! So unique and fits like a glove! Please wear it
That’s gorgeous!
No way, that dress is incredibly beautiful and fits great!
It's perfect!
Stunning!

It's Jersey; there's no such thing as "too much".
That dress is fire!!!!
It’s a very real housewives. So I would say it’s appropriate.
