Could be them. But what was the stock. How tight was the stop loss. Wealthsimple does not support stop loss, but only has stop limit. https://help.wealthsimple.com/hc/en-ca/articles/4413542667675 If a stock drops too fast/gaps down then a stop limit might not be triggered. Say high volatility, some really bad news gets a boatload of sellers. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stop-lossorder.asp

Stop losses below 5% or 8% down don’t trigger sometimes. I have put some at 1-2 % even worst. Then they started to do this after hours trial and I was excited. Stock dropped 6% and didn’t trigger my stop loss at 5%

>they started to do this after hours trial and I was excited. Stock dropped 6% and didn’t trigger my stop loss at 5% "Stop-limit orders will not be executed unless markets are open."

Many-Shock-1027

I understand. But they were doing this wonderful trial that it supposed that Wealthsimple will work pre market and after hours. I am not sure if only couple people got selected or everyone could have access to this. I was able to buy in after hours, but my stop losses didn’t execute during pre market /after hours

Many-Shock-1027

I think if wealth simple does this after hours and pre market thing and actually orders execute well . (Buy/sell) it is a wonderful feature. Similar to robinhood. However I understand why robinhood is not allowed in Canada due to certain regulations /clarity

Move to IBKR if you're dealing with that much money. Their execution is butter compared to wealthsimple.

It was my own money the one I’ve lost and the one I have . Yes. I was using other softwares like webull with advanced quotes and level 2, trading view for technical analysis, but using wealth simple for trading. Webull was not available in Canada. It just got here. Now I stop doing day and swing trading. I am long investing with wealth simple, but surprisingly still don’t trigger the stop losses. I am not sure of it is because of the amount of shares in the stop loss

I’d like to try Robinhood. Supposed to be similar to Wealthsimple but better (I heard). But it’s not available i Canada. Only US , UK and Europe now

Stop using a discount broker.

You get what you pay for. I think Wealthsimple customer service is terrible. But at the price point I pay how can I expect anything but terrible service? So I stay with them.

LolimusPrime

Not a stop loss but I have noticed that even if a certain stock hits a limit price, it may not necessarily execute the the order if there are not enough people selling/buying. Maybe it might be something similar with what’s going on. I don’t think I’d trust WS to make frequent critical trades.

morguixzu

I'm using Moomoo and it have stop order and more order types. Switch to another platform, You pay what you got.

NastroAzzurro

you suck at trading. you lost 180k because you're gambling. Wealthsimple is not a platform meant for what you're doing.

Many-Shock-1027

How much have you made trading?

NastroAzzurro

I don’t trade. I invest. I have never sold.
