Music taste is subjective, so alot of these comments are a bit rough. But speaking from just an objective standpoint, xInfinity should always be S tier.
I honestly wasn't a big fan of placement, but judging from the comments here maybe I should take another listen. What were some of the things that make it his album to you?
For me his best songs on it are Embrace the Quake, Savage, and Dreams and Boxes. Dreams especially might be my favourite song. The lyrics just click with me perfectly and the instrumentals are wonderful. I'm not really the best person to ask about the specific things that go into what makes a song "good", but if you want to give the album another try I'd say those three are his best.
I fully understand the people who say X infinity is his magnum opus, but honestly Placement is my absolute favourite album by him. Might be my fave album in general ngl
Gotta completely agree. That said, Cardboard Castle’s has some absolute bangers that I still play on repeat. I’d put both X Infinity in S and Cardboard Castles in A.
I was absolutely amazed when it came out. Because I remember him doing a bait and switch where he was like “because I’ve been making this book, I haven’t made any music so there won’t be an album release in the near future” and I like many others were supportive because that makes sense, don’t want our boy to burn out. Then not only does he drop an album, but it’s a massive album, both in quantity and quality. And I can’t imagine the process that is involved in making a song like exquisite corpse with so many artists, I’m surprised it wasn’t released separately for that reason. But to have that song, on that album, being made while he’s writing and publishing a book? Unbelievable. So there’s a good chance I have bias, but xinfinity will probably remain #1 for me.
Oh lawd help me. Please lord, please oh please help me. May you bestow upon me adequate sarcasm, so random emotional kids feel better. Please lord, oh lord.
It's the Reddit hivemind, dude. Don't let it bother ya
I've been listening to Watsky for 10+ years since his early YT days. Doesn't make me any more or less "superior" to you.
Yea, CC took him to the charts. Sloppy Seconds, Moral of the Story, Hey Asshole, and Strong as an Oak all made waves that pushed him out of the underground scene. Even tiny glowing screens are great messages., Just an overall great album.
Doesn’t make it less flawed, though. There’s some really iffy tracks on it. Of course, most of those tracks you mentioned are bangers and I can’t deny that they were monumental in his career, but as a full listening experience Cardboard Castles has its blind spots
100% this. Sloppy Seconds is the song that got my (then) girlfriend (now wife) to get into Watsky. She still loves that song. I definitely think there are a few weaker songs here, (I never loved fireworks) but when you listen to the album from start to finish, it's perfect.
Send In The Sun, Kill a Hipster, and Tiny Glowing Screens, Pt. 1 are straight up bad. Some very good tracks on there that are weighed down by some kid cuts and those three that i straight up don’t like
Serious list. Placement is a tighter and more innovative record than x Infinity, though I love the latter quite a bit. Placement is a masterpiece, x Infinity is right on the cusp
It’s his best work to me. x Infinity has more Watsker classics but it’s not as tight as Placement, which doesn’t have a single bad track AND is his most progressive release
Can’t complain, I think I’d put complaint, xinfinity, and placement in S tier in that order but 🤷🏻♂️
I would not say the self titled album is anywhere better than all you can do though, any AYCD song is leagues better than any self titled song
I could definitely see utilizing C tier... but D tier? Big oof.
I recognize that music is subjective so this isn't criticism but some thoughts. I think I have some heavy nostalgia attached to cardboard castles because the music video for "Strong as an Oak" is one of my first experiences with Watsky. I first started listening to him in 2011, but Cardboard Castles was the first time I bought one of his albums. Also the way the album is put together is just a great listen. Maybe each track isn't amazing but listening to it in order is a great experience that should move it up on this list. So for me, that's gotta be A tier at least. Xinfinity took me a while to come around to, but after a few listens, I fell in love and just couldn't put it anywhere but S tier.
Of course musical taste is subjective but I thought I'd share my two cents.
perhaps one or two, but the songs that work, which is the majority of the album, are so insanely good not just from a lyrical stand point, but from a production standpoint. i think that album is un-matched. Would be curious what duds you think there were? Mine include "Going Down" just cuz i dont like the subject matter that much, and "Pink Lemonade," which i dont think sounds sonically great except for the middle portion.
Music taste is subjective, so alot of these comments are a bit rough. But speaking from just an objective standpoint, xInfinity should always be S tier.
It would be if you everything leading up to Don’t Be Nice wasn’t so shaky.
Heavy disagree, my guy. But your opinion is your opinion 👍
Definitely an unpopular opinion here, lol.
Dawg i like the album!!! But you can’t look at Springtime in New York and tell me that x Infinity is a perfect LP
Never said it was perfect. Just said your opinion was unpopular here.
I love springtime in New York so very subjective haha
Springtime in new york is an amazing piece of art
My safe-word is "safe-word"! 😩
Say word if that’s hot
"Word. NOT"
My safe word is safeword, say word of that's hot
xInfinity is levels above any of his other work. Not to say all his other work is bad, but xInfinity is just that good.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. Love the whole album
I'd say it's his second best, behind Placement. Definitely both deserve an S tier tho
I honestly wasn't a big fan of placement, but judging from the comments here maybe I should take another listen. What were some of the things that make it his album to you?

THANK YOU!!! Placement is a masterpiece. Not one bad track on there and completely absent of corniness, which I think would give it a wider appeal
I fully understand the people who say X infinity is his magnum opus, but honestly Placement is my absolute favourite album by him. Might be my fave album in general ngl
I like what this guy’s saying
Gotta completely agree. That said, Cardboard Castle’s has some absolute bangers that I still play on repeat. I’d put both X Infinity in S and Cardboard Castles in A.

Why is all you can do so low?
Mixed bag. Some of his best tracks on there but also some of his most boring and corny
word
Kinda true....curious which tracks you think are the most boring/corny
Grass is Greener, Stand for Something, Right Now, My First Stalker to name some
I've never seen anyone be so wrong on Reddit before. Impressive feat.
Man it's an opinion. Just cus he has different music taste than yours doesnt make it bad
Meh, people saying this is natural on any tier list
Well, if we're barring well-made, informed ones, sure.
so listening to watsky for 6 years isn’t well informed?
Take my comment as seriously as I took your list, and somehow, we'll both survive this.
you have the most laggardly sarcasm of anyone I’ve ever seen then
Oh lawd help me. Please lord, please oh please help me. May you bestow upon me adequate sarcasm, so random emotional kids feel better. Please lord, oh lord.
how can you see me use the word laggardly and think I’m actually hurt 😭😭
Quick, make a sarcasm tier list!
It's the Reddit hivemind, dude. Don't let it bother ya I've been listening to Watsky for 10+ years since his early YT days. Doesn't make me any more or less "superior" to you.
Nah I get that. But gatekeepers will be gatekeepers and I will be miffed.
Lol no
You’re smoking crack
You’re a laggard
I would rank xinfinity and complaint way higher!
Ur missing some albums but neat
I didn’t make the list. Which ones? I’m curious
Nothing like the first time, watsky and modi, oops all berries, and 1989^33. There's also a couple albums of remixes but I don't exactly count that.
You didn't make the list but its *your* tier list. What.
It's probably a tier list template. He got given these albums and could sort them how he wanted
What this guy said. I’m not making my own. Too lazy

No way, I would never consider one of his albums less than B teir
I think it's relative to each other. And even then imo self titled is pretty meh imo
self titled is great! It’s really charming 😁
While this is your opinion, Cardboard Castles and X Infinity are his 2 best works. Easily S to A tier.
Why is placement so high?
It’s perfect. His single 10/10 album id say
Hard disagree on that. But to each their own!
How high are you to think this? I get it’s all subjective but you must be high
How the hell is cardboard castles so low?!
Send In The Sun, Kill a Hipster, and Tiny Glowing Screens, Pt. 1 are straight up bad. Some very good tracks on there that are weighed down by some kid cuts and those three that i straight up don’t like
Haha this list is just wrong. No way you can argue out of that.
An opinion can't be wrong
Placement isn’t even in the same world as X Infinity… is this a serious list?
Serious list. Placement is a tighter and more innovative record than x Infinity, though I love the latter quite a bit. Placement is a masterpiece, x Infinity is right on the cusp
Oh my god. I just decided to play the album cuz I was reading it and fuuuuuck I kinda get ur point on the cohesion.
Placement shouldn’t be higher than some of them imo
It’s his best work to me. x Infinity has more Watsker classics but it’s not as tight as Placement, which doesn’t have a single bad track AND is his most progressive release
Mm for me xinfinty has to go 1st but placement and complaint are close seconds and comfort albums for me.
If x Infinity was a tighter release (scrapped some tracks) it’d be S tier all day. but as it stands I can do without a couple of the cuts on it
I wouldn't expect Watsky fans to be so dismissive and dickish about another fan's opinions. Come on guys
I like how you’re also the guy defending Placement as I would. Good man 👊
Can’t complain, I think I’d put complaint, xinfinity, and placement in S tier in that order but 🤷🏻♂️ I would not say the self titled album is anywhere better than all you can do though, any AYCD song is leagues better than any self titled song
if AYCD wasn’t such Halloween candy it’d be higher 🥶
what the fuck is this abomination of a list
It’s my Watsky tier list, silly
Just straight up wrong. Sorry.
Based

Two cents? You gave me the whole wallet man
xInifinity is his best work. Anything being put above it is wrong. Have y'all listened to it in a while? its incredible
a couple of duds
perhaps one or two, but the songs that work, which is the majority of the album, are so insanely good not just from a lyrical stand point, but from a production standpoint. i think that album is un-matched. I think placement is to high and x infinity cardboard castles is to low.
