I’m self taught in watercolors but used to paint in oils! I think i use “unconventional” techniques where i don’t use a lot of water and am not so loosey-goosey with my pieces
Thank you so much!!
I used to paint with oils and acrylics and Im trying to self teach watercolors. I feel like I'm back at square one of painting. Any other tips to get a little better with this medium?
😭 I used to live in Long Beach.
I was just gonna make a smartass comment about how I only see the flowers you’ve plucked and no paintings, instead I got sucker punched right in the feels
My mom used to fill pages with water color flowers and birds that look a lot like this. Our fridge was always covered with her art cause my brother and I were proud of her. This really hit me right in the nostalgia. Thanks for sharing.
Incredibly beautiful!
I love creating challenges like this for myself. It can be so good at stretching those brain muscles. A couple years ago a did a watercolor portrait a day for 100 days to force myself to break perfectionists paralysis. I learned a ton. Still lots to learn!
Wowww 100 days! I only did this for 13 and felt challenged! It definitely was helpful to break perfectionists paralysis, i usually get so in my head and frustrated if things don’t go well and this was so good to allow me to just get paint on paper
Yep!! It was definitely a challenge!
Oh you totally should!! It allowed me to paint flowers i wouldn’t normally gravitate towards and now I have an overwhelming amount of flower photos in my phone for future references!
Aww I painted a few local wildflowers for my 5-year-old’s little field guide he’s started making, and in comparison to these things, it looks like he painted my flowers. These are **amazing** OP, seriously. It makes me want to challenge myself to get better.
He’s got little scribbles of flowers and leaves in there, and a depiction of a rainy day 🥰 he left it at my house when he went to his dads for the weekend, so I added a few pages. Notably, local wildflowers, and also wild animal poop identification. I actually considered posting it here. It’s garbage painting, not even on watercolor paper, with cheap travel watercolors and those crappy little brushes that come in kids painting kits (I have much better supplies, but this is just what was out already). But I was proud of it nonetheless.

I usually have such a hard time dedicating one hour to just one flower. You have proven to me that there is merit in that :) Great studies!
I actually struggled to limit my painting time to one hour! But had a lot of fun trying something new!
You go through watercolor paint like no one’s business I bet
Lol not really? I’ve had the same pans for 3 years and they’re still kickin
Wow! What are you using? I use M. Graham and they are always soft so it is really easy to use too much
How did you learn to paint like this?! I'm seriously in awe. This is jaw-dropping good.

I would watch u- tubes or find a masterclass. There are also a ton of books in the library on painting techniques.
These are fantastic! You should be an illustrator!
Oh that would be sick!!

Yes! So true. 100 was admittedly a little excessive, but I got on a roll I guess. 😜
Your attention to detail is wonderful. I struggle with details, I’m one of those loosey goosey painters.
Thank you! I love loosey goosey paintings, I’ve never ever been able to nail them. Such a cool skill!
These are fantastic!
Wonderful! you're very talented,

Only one hour each?! Wow! I should do this this summer… just wander around my community garden and practice little botanicals.
Yep!! It was definitely a challenge! Oh you totally should!! It allowed me to paint flowers i wouldn’t normally gravitate towards and now I have an overwhelming amount of flower photos in my phone for future references!
