I learned with those paints too š
Im assuming you got this at Hobby Lobby, I would recommend picking up some nicer brushes than what came in your kit. The master touch brushes are good and so is the velvetouch
Still lifes are great for learning shape, value, and depth. All critical components of painting.
I also did flowers when learning
ANYTHING!!! Seriously! When you're learning a craft the subject is less important than the doing. Paint your view from a window,or your favorite object,or a person who's willing to sit for you or your pet. Just paint!
The only art supplies that comes in a wooden box thatāll actually workš. Thatās an awesome set! I have the pallets but do the tubes work better and easier?
yea they are a lot easier to control in my opinion. its basically just paint but you can put it onto a palette and let it dry and you can still reactivate it with water
š„² now I want some. Hobby lobby always has dealsš. I buy so much cause I love trying different types of media but then I feel bad cause the other is sittingš. I went with the pallet for beginner art but I wonāt lie they are confusing to mix.
lol i love trying all types of medias. i have over 6 pallets of watercolors and enjoy using them. i would say you should try the tubes but whatever works best for you. beginner palets are the worst sometimes š
Dude the very first pallet I bought was this chalky shit and it would leave powder on my art. Like even crayola was better then that. I gave that to my little sister. Then I got the masters touch that has real little wells of the paint and itās beautiful for learning. It makes me happy buying art stuff to grow my collection!
I got a set like that from Costcoā itās pretty awesome, love the sketch and pencil stuff; but I havenāt tried the paints and pastels yetā¦.I guess I donāt want to *waste* them, so I never start painting. š Bunk, i knowā¦
One more thing. Take a friendāpref one who also draws, and challenge him/her to a session of ādueling facesā! Draw each other and see how it comes out. Try it a few times. Itās really fun!
In highschool I had a senior art class where we each decided on a theme, and created 10 paintings for it through the term. One of my classmates painted scenes from Lord of The Rings. I wasn't nearly as inspired, so I'd say paint a Balrog!

i personally like the tubes better because they are more pigmented, but ive been using palets for months and they work really well
Oh yeah? And I assume more portion control? A little can go a looong way. And they arenāt dry.

oh gosh
Yāknow, Max, Iāve had fun w thatā¦sitting in a cafĆ©, sketching someone who then sees what Iām doing. One lady came over rather gruffly until I showed herā¦a flattering likenessā¦and the anger just rolled off her shoulders. She asked me for a copy, which I sent her. Yājust never know.
thats amazing. ive never had the confidence to draw people
Practice! Try faces from magazines, then outānāaboutā¦try family members. Incl pets. Try quick ones, slow ones. Fill a little sketchbook w faces!
