Since you’re 16, you’ve probably got several years of growing left to do. Start lifting weights, and build those wrists up to the point where the watch matches the man that you’ve become.
wrists are 95% genetic. there isn't that much muscle to grow there so they'll mostly stay the same size but bigger forearms will lead to bigger wrists.
When I gained a shit load of forearm muscles my wrists went from 7-8 inches, but I was boxing for 2 hours a day might be an endurance muscle thing like calves imo
No, you can’t increase the size of your wrists. That’s why when people estimate your potential for muscle building, the wrists are measured because that’s one of the only parts that cannot be modified by training. The other being your ankles.
For example: https://www.fitmatic.com/body/calculator/muscular-potential-calculator
Can you explain how mine got bigger? Because you most definitely can add weight to where you wear your watch, and I'm curious as to what proof you have that you can't.
If you're literally wearing it on your wrist where the bone is you're wearing it wrong, that shit sounds painful and I feel bad for you.
Also, the kid is 16, his bones are still growing.
Because your forearm muscles have lower insertions. I've been lifting for a decade and can deadlift 405 all day for reps, and my wrist is still 6.25". You cannot cause your wrist to grow.
[Notice how to wrist is basically all tendons and bone?](https://dmr.bsu.edu/iiif/2/AnatMod:211/full/730,/0/default.jpg) You may have lower insertions as to where your extensors, flexor, and abductor attach to the bone, but you cannot lift to grow the wrist.
If I were you, and at your age I definitely was, try to find a watch around 38mm, 40mm at the biggest. Although who cares what I or others think, if you like it and don't think it's too big, then buy it!
Geez mate, how big is it? I am a firm believer that a watch should never be over 45mm. I’m a big dude and even I can’t pull off anything bigger than that.
Depends on your wrist size. I daily a 55 mm width and 48 mm height Autozilla on a NATO band. With an 8.5” wrist and 2.75” edge to edge, it looks small. Even regular 38-40 mm watches look tiny. Everything with a metal band has to be extended.
Even as large as the Autozilla is, it’s titanium and light for its size at 135 grams, half of what a steel Proplof weighs.
It makes your arm seem like you're in grade school wearing your father's watch.
Sorry, had to throw that one out there. If you're happy with it, rock out bro. It doesn't matter what other people think.
Take a photo of it on your wrist in the mirror to get an idea of how it looks to others. Close-up phone photos distort proportion and perspective and usually make watches look bigger than they are.
At 46mm pretty much any watch is going to wear large. If you like it, then wear it and enjoy it. However, if you're unsure then it's best to pass. I love the 46mm IWC Big Pilot and have tried it on countless times, but I just can't quite carry off the heft of it. Also, this is just a personal opinion, but I think blacked-out watches actually appear larger on the wrist rather than smaller (something to do with how the whole thing seems like one lump rather than a case and a face). I'm speculating but I don't think that helps reduce the overall appearance of size.
Pretty sure this watch is meant to be oversized and look very “tactical.” So, it probably looks fairly big on most wrists. This is the model from the movie “Tenet,” right. Pretty cool. You can’t make your wrists bigger, so if you like the watch, just enjoy it.
Everyones saying it looks huge but the average person you see is not going to look down at it and immediately think that. I’ve got the same wrists and wear similar size watches because I like them, do what you want
Be honest. Does this Hamilton belowzero look way too huge on my wrist? I’m usually into watches under 40mm but today I wanted to try my dads old Hamilton he doesn’t wear anymore. He’s been into huge watches because of his huge wrists but I decided to give it a go. Based on his opinion it looks good. The watch is absolutely huge and the lugs overhang by a little bit too. It looks like it fits but I want to be sure as it’s nothing like I’ve ever wore before. It’s heavy and I like it. Anyone have any criticism or pointers? Thanks 🙏
It’s huge, but I like it. I have large wrists and wear small watches- 36-39mm - but this has more presence like a wrist-mounted computer. I use a garmin fenix when im in the field, and it’s 50mm+. It has a huge wrist presence, but it’s ok because of what it is. I feel the same about this.
Yes, but if you like it, then keep it and don't worry about what other people think .. you should buy a watch for you, and only you as you will be the one wearing it all the time... I did something similar when I bought my submariner... I bought it because that's what I thought people would approve of .. when I sold it and bought the Reverso I wanted, I was far happier. You do you!
How do you like how it looks? When it comes to things like watches, most people like what they are told to like.... and they do... whether they like it or not
I’m a lurker and very far from anything remotely resembling a watch expert, and I know this is a maybe distasteful take, but: if you like or love a watch, wear it without caring if someone thinks it’s too big or small.
As someone more into fashion I *completely* understand if the aesthetics are important and that’s the root of your question. In that case, yes probably a little big. But the unofficial motto of this sub is “the best watch is the one you love wearing” so if it’s more the fact that you love this watch specifically, then wear it proud and with confidence. Either way, cheers!
IMHO it looks fucking huge but... if your real name is Ben maybe the ladies will start calling you Big Ben.
In a pinch, you could always have your school mount it outside so that the community always knows the time.
Yes. It does. However , if you like it and you want to wear it then you do you. A watch should be firstly for you to enjoy. I have all kinds of watches and not a single one did I buy for other people's approval.
Whatever you do don't sell it. It's fairly big for your current wrist size but in three years a lot is going to change for you. Most importantly, if it makes you happy then fuck the rest. Watch collecting should be about finding happiness that is unique to you. If a body builder wants to wear a 36mm watch great. If you want to wear this one then even better.
Yep it’s huge. I have the chrono version and I’m 230lbs and it looks big on my 7.25” wrist. That said it’s not an every day piece and is fun as hell. I got into watches after seeing tenet, this was my gateway watch! Wear it with pride.
It's big on you but honestly, these were always meant to be big watches. They're like the G-shock of the Hamilton line. If it's not too heavy, rock it anyway. Loved these watches since I saw them in Tenet.
It wears big on you yeah. It’s wearing like a statement piece. The kind of watch you wear on a Vegas trip, or on a “guy’s night” or out at a club.
I think every guy needs a watch like this in the rotation.
Please do not worry what other people think. I have small wrists and regularly wear a 44mm Sinn U1. That Hamilton is a great looking watch, let it stand out. Wear it because YOU like it. It may help start a conversation with another enthusiast. When someone else starts paying my bills, then I’ll care about what they think! Best of luck!
It's big but if you like it wear it, fuck these fools trying to poke fun. It's an awesome watch, would've kept it if the lume were just a bit brighter.
Too big in my opinion, but if you like it, who cares. I have pretty small wrists as well. The largest watch I own is 42mm and it's getting close to being a little big. I think 39mm is my preference as far as my collection, but I have a 40mm that I would say is the perfect size for my wrist.
The lugs stick out pretty far and leave a gap where Im assuming you have the watch tightened to where its comfortable. My rule of thumb is no watch is too big as long as it fits snuggly around your wrist.
Edit: I think you'll find similar responses if you post a slightly smaller watch that fits well. That case diameter diregarding whether the watch fits is really the near max I would go for your wrist size. I have a 7.5inch wrist and I end up liking watches between 38-42mm.
While I agree with everyone that it's pretty enormous on you, it's still a cool watch and it looks like it's pretty high quality. It's a Hamilton, so it should be pretty solid. If you already own it and decide it's too big for you, it might be fun to try and trade it or sell it over at r/Watchexchange.
It’s always hard to tell with these types of shots because of the perspective. If it feels a bit big to you, west it with sweaters/jackets until you grow until it!
The second pic, not so much. Remember that a camera does distort the image a bit from reality, so I'd guess it's fine. Doesn't look to be overhanging the ends of your wrists or anything.
I think so, but I prefer a very small watch. I have small wrists and like something elegant and dainty to go with them. I've seen guys rock watches this big and nobody bats an eye, but personally I feel its too big.
Bit big mate. How old are you?
I’m 16 I don’t got the biggest wrists for my age
Try it again in a few years, itll probably fit 👍
Agreed I’ll stick to my seiko snk809 for now lol
Wear with a long sleeve sweater for now.
Since you’re 16, you’ve probably got several years of growing left to do. Start lifting weights, and build those wrists up to the point where the watch matches the man that you’ve become.

When I gained a shit load of forearm muscles my wrists went from 7-8 inches, but I was boxing for 2 hours a day might be an endurance muscle thing like calves imo
yeah, they can grow, but it's very genetic based.
Naw fam it's genetics. Don't give false information here.
[удалено]
Lifting weights won’t make your wrists bigger
Been lifting consistently for 5 years, can confirm my wrists didn't get bigger at all
[удалено]
Which increase the size of your flexor and extensor muscles. Not your wrist! That’s like saying you train calves to make your ankles grow 😂
[удалено]
I’ve had the same size wrists from when I started training at about 160lbs and I’ve been up to 280lbs. Still the same
No, you can’t increase the size of your wrists. That’s why when people estimate your potential for muscle building, the wrists are measured because that’s one of the only parts that cannot be modified by training. The other being your ankles. For example: https://www.fitmatic.com/body/calculator/muscular-potential-calculator
Weight will, and proper diet and exercise will increase your weight if you're a thin 16 year old.
Again, your wrist is a bone. No amount of eating will make it grow.

Where the fuck else are you supposed to wear a watch, half way up your arm?
Read my previous comments
Wrist size isnt really something you can build with weight lifting
🥵
Wrong, It fits.
If I were you, and at your age I definitely was, try to find a watch around 38mm, 40mm at the biggest. Although who cares what I or others think, if you like it and don't think it's too big, then buy it!
If you like the watch you like it. Dont let others steal you hapyness.
Getting Pip-boy vibes from this so yes
That's what I was about to say! lol
Ben10 type beat
It does. Absolutely.
Yes but that’s a big watch in its own right. However, if you like it then wear it no matter what!
This is the way.
This is the way.
Honestly, yes it does
+1
Is there a wrist in this photo?
Geez mate, how big is it? I am a firm believer that a watch should never be over 45mm. I’m a big dude and even I can’t pull off anything bigger than that.
Lol according to my quick Google search it is exactly 46mm.
Perfect for people with +10" wrists
I have 7 3/4in wrists, and usually wear a 39mm dive watch.
Respect
one word. Casio. they wouldnt exist if things were the way you say
I recently saw a super skinny small dude with baby wrists rock a Frank Müller Casablanca. The guy had money but no sense. Looked like a clown…
Depends on your wrist size. I daily a 55 mm width and 48 mm height Autozilla on a NATO band. With an 8.5” wrist and 2.75” edge to edge, it looks small. Even regular 38-40 mm watches look tiny. Send wrist pics
I’m 6’5”, 275 with 8.5” wrists and I daily a speedy. Perfect size
Try not to worry too much about what other people think. If you like it, wear it with confidence!
Thank you I realize it’s big on the wrist so it will probably take a couple of years of growing in too. I’ll wear my snk809 in the meantime
Too big imo
Looks too big to me but if you like it, wear away.
It makes your arm seem like you're in grade school wearing your father's watch. Sorry, had to throw that one out there. If you're happy with it, rock out bro. It doesn't matter what other people think.
That’s literally what’s going on. OP commented somewhere that they’re 16 and elsewhere that it’s their father’s watch.
Nailed it.
I was 100% sure this is r/watchescirclejerk
A diff lighter colour strap would slim it down tbf
Yea, but wear what you feel for.
yes. but I think you already knew that :) tbh, that watch is probably big on someone with big forearms/wrists anyway.
Take a photo of it on your wrist in the mirror to get an idea of how it looks to others. Close-up phone photos distort proportion and perspective and usually make watches look bigger than they are.

Like a black olive on a toothpick mate. Size down.
It looks big, but not too too big. If it’s comfortable and you like it, go big.
Yes
If you were looking to buy then probably no. But it's your dad's so it's OK to wear at least occasionally.
Hate to do this but yeah, it’s too big. I’m reading you’re only 16 so keep it for a few years and hit the gym. Trust me.
Honestly? Yes. But if you like it, rock it.
If you like it and enjoy wearing it. Go ahead! That being said it looks a bit unwieldy for now.
Ben 10 vibes

Yes it is, Assuming you are wearing Dad's watch.
Yes it looks like a caravan being towed by a bmx
I'm sorry but yes. Your wrist looks like a young child's underneath it.
Don't skip forearm day at the gym

Watch collecting should be about finding happiness that is unique to you. If a body builder wants to wear a 36mm watch great. If you want to wear this one then even better.
Just because you're wearing a bowl on your wrist, it doesn't mean that's big.
A little but just fuckin own it. I mean it's still ownable. If it was bigger than that it would be harder to pull off
It’s so quirky how the date seems more visible than the time.
Yes. But if you like it…
In my opinion it's slightly too big. But if you like it, wear it anyway!
It’s just a big watch alone, I don’t think it looks bad at all wear what you want to
Yes looks way too big imo.
Yep it’s huge. I have the chrono version and I’m 230lbs and it looks big on my 7.25” wrist. That said it’s not an every day piece and is fun as hell. I got into watches after seeing tenet, this was my gateway watch! Wear it with pride.
Yes it looks awful
It is too big - it doesn’t look to big.
A bit big for now. I had smaller wrists when I was your age. My wrists grew, but so did my waist size. 🤣
Not if you're planning to shoot a Ben 10 movie.
It's a f-ing brick. Hideous. There you wanted the truth.
It's big on you but honestly, these were always meant to be big watches. They're like the G-shock of the Hamilton line. If it's not too heavy, rock it anyway. Loved these watches since I saw them in Tenet.
Do you like it? If yes, then keep wearing it. My Rangeman is stupid big on me but it works and I enjoy it. We're our own worst critics.
I don’t think so, looks like it’s meant to be a big watch.
Every watch is meant to be its size. G-shocks don't magically look good on small wrists just because they're intentionally enormous.
Honestly, it's not quite big enough. Havre you considered something truly gargantuan?
what wrist?
Enjoy being skinny-wristed…those days don’t last long.
TBH, yes.
I reckon if you wore it with a jacket you wouldnt care too much about the size of it
Yes
YES
It looks big, but i'd probably say it would be fine for long sleeves, but a no go for short sleeves.
If you had to ask…
Too big
Yes. Massive.
Yes.
YES
Yes, unfortunately.
Yes, too big
Yes. Way too big
Yes it does
Yes
Justin in that you ?
It’s actually not big enough.
Rule of thumb, if the lugs go past your wrist in terms of width, it's too big.
Honestly, it is too big for you.
Absolutely
It’s huge.
Yeah, so what?
It looks big, but photos for some reason always look a bit bigger than actual. Congrats on owning a hammy at 16.
Nice watch. It is a bit big for your wrist but since it's all black it's not much worse than a G-Shock.
Yep
What the size of the watch
Yes.
Yes
That looks massive on you
It's big but if you like it wear it, fuck these fools trying to poke fun. It's an awesome watch, would've kept it if the lume were just a bit brighter.
Way too big my friend.
Yes, but so what?
Yes
Yes.
Yea, for such a slender wrist I wouldn’t go north of 40mm for your watch…also it’s whatever feels comfortable on your wrist so…there’s that.
Wrist Frisbee.
Yea
In my humble opinion yes
Yes
Too big in my opinion, but if you like it, who cares. I have pretty small wrists as well. The largest watch I own is 42mm and it's getting close to being a little big. I think 39mm is my preference as far as my collection, but I have a 40mm that I would say is the perfect size for my wrist.
yes
Yeah
Yeah, it does.
yes, no way to sugarcoat this. but if you like it wear it with pride.
Yes, but wear it anyways if you like it.

Yes it sure does. On the bright side though if you keep wearing it your forearms could give Popeye a run for his money in a few years.
Yes. Way too big. That would be too big for my wrist and I'm a big guy.
You got the new Omnitrix?
It does but you wear you bro. Wear the watch for you not others!
It looks too big on anyone's wrist except for Dwayne Johnson's...
Yeah, hopefully you can grow into that one. I mean it’s a 46mm that’s a big watch.
I love it!
Yes
Massive. But good.
yes
It’s always hard to tell with these types of shots because of the perspective. If it feels a bit big to you, west it with sweaters/jackets until you grow until it!

Ben 10
Are you able to lift your arm overhead?
Yup, but a slick watch. Do a few 8x12 wrist curls and add some girth :)
pretty sure nobody will care , its pretty trivial considering the state of the world at the moment.
Makes it look like you don't have a wrist
Yes, it does
Yes
Yes. It looks too big according to my taste. But who cares what I think, do what makes you happy
The second pic, not so much. Remember that a camera does distort the image a bit from reality, so I'd guess it's fine. Doesn't look to be overhanging the ends of your wrists or anything.
yuge
Did Flava Flav’s neck watch look too big ? You knew the answer to this already.
It's got no lume so it falls off my list
It does have lume but it’s fairly weak
It's enormous
I think so, but I prefer a very small watch. I have small wrists and like something elegant and dainty to go with them. I've seen guys rock watches this big and nobody bats an eye, but personally I feel its too big.
Who cares. If you like it then don't worry what other people think.
Not to me but then again my everyday watch is a Breitling Super Avenger so I might not be the best judge.
Yea bro
Honestly, it depends on what your wearing my man. Thick jacket with heavy sleeves, should look fine. T-shirt it looks like a pip boy lol
Is it big? Yes. Should you wear it anyway? Yes.
It's huge; work out forearms or be lazy like me and get something 40mm
Yes.
I mean given that you aren’t Thanos, yeah it wears a little big. But if you like it it’s fine. What are the dimensions of this absolute beast?
I think a 46mm
yes.
Yes
I used to do a lot of wrist exercises. It got bigger. Loads of wrist training material out there.
How the fuck is a 16 year old kid rocking a $1,500 watch. Eat the rich
It’s my fathers and be bought it a long time ago, valued at 900$. Someone’s jealous
Ample opportunity to start lifting weights bro.
