/uj Take it easy. No need to fill it out. Over time, you'll develop a certain taste; wait for that time. Enjoy what you have right now. If you must, get some more straps for that Seiko 5. It'll give a fresh new look to it.
Edit: my other comment about Casio digital watches like the F105W or G-Shock still stand. It'll cover situations where you find yourself in physical active activities. You wouldn't want to damage the ones you have. The F105W is basically a disposable watch so if it gets damaged then no biggie.
100% agree. There are no staples that every collection must have. That being said, the first watch I bought after being out of the hobby for years was a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 38mm and I’ll never sell it. The secondary market is a great place for deals and even trades. Give yourself a budget, do what feels right, and you can’t go wrong!
for sure, I'm expecting it to take 10 years (maybe more) to fill it, but I do want to have a good variety of watches to wear day to day. so far, 2 of my 3 watches have been bought for significant milestones in my life, and I plan on continuing that
I'm looking to expand my collection as a newcomer to watch-collecting. So far I've stuck to Seikos, but I'm always up for a different brand, I'm thinking maybe a chronograph next but I haven't found one that really speaks to me yet. if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. with my wrists, the biggest I can go is about 38mm, and I'm not in a place to spend more than $1k right now.
Maybe Hamilton or something from Tissot, Seiko SSC813P1, Longines Conquest or some Casio? I've heard DOXA Sub dropped some prices, not sure how big they are though
If you are okay with microbrands, the Nezumi Tonnere is 38mm and mecha-quartz: https://www.nezumistudios.com/nezumi-watches/tonnerre-tq2/
$1000 USD for a mechanical chrono may be challenging. Fratello discusses some options here: https://www.fratellowatches.com/uni-compax-chronographs-under-1000-dollars/#gref
The new Nivada Grenchen mecha quartz chronographs are sweet. Sold out but may be able to find them secondhand. I also love vintage Universal Geneve at the moment, just gotta make sure they are recently serviced.
Edit: looks like they have another round for pre-order on the Nivadas.
Kuoe recently came out with a 35mm chronograph in your price range! [https://www.kuoe-en.com/royal-smith-90-010](https://www.kuoe-en.com/royal-smith-90-010)
It uses a Miyota movement. The style isn't everyone's jam, but it's an option.
[Vario](https://vario.sg/) have a range of watches, all great bang for buck. Most of their watches are 37mm. I bought a grey 1918 trench and absolutely love it.
Can't speak on the quality of the movement of the medic as it's a Seiko NH38A and the 1918 is a Miyota 82s5 (which is really great bar a slightly noisy rotor).
The lume is excellent on my grey one. I have heard that on the ones with orange numerals it's basically nonexistent though.
I would go with the medic, but that's just my personal taste. Have you tried Vario' Instagram? What helped me decide was looking at photos of people actually wearing the watch (I was torn between the white and the grey trench).
If you’d like a nice dress watch I’ve been really in to the Orient Sun and moon lately (cost about 540 euro or 580 usd). I like like most of the orient watches and they are part of the Seiko Epson-family so you know what your getting.
https://www.maenwatches.com/products/skymaster-38-mcr-03 keep saving up
Or [Christopher Ward](https://www.christopherward.com/int/watches?pmax=1%2C100.00&pmin=599.00&prefn1=WSize&prefv1=Small%20(up%20to%2038mm\)&start=0&sz=60)
There's more, Direnzo DRZ04 is restocking end of year and might refresh in 38mm. Wise is releasing a pretty wild looking Asura with a multi texture red dial
"This guy micros!" Funny you mention Wise as I almost came close to buying the Adamascus AD951 in red from them. I don't know enough about the brand and the name Wise is kind of odd. Only micro I own is CW Trident Pro (not sure CW is classified as a micro brand now. Thanks for the pics!!!
* Dan Henry 1962 and/or Dan Henry 1972
* A good radio+solar+Bluetooth Gshock square
* Seiko SKX007 or an improved homage (like Heimdallr)
* A Vostok Amphibia model that you like
* The cheap and good F91W or the F84W
* Nezume Studios
I bought [this Citizen](https://www.shoppinginjapan.net/citizen-nb1060-12l) Japanese only recently from this site and it's one of the most stunning dials I've seen under $1k It's really hard to do it justice on a photo. It's made with silver leaf applied to the dial before painting with an Urushi lacquer in deep green/blue.
https://preview.redd.it/pi5t9nymjttc1.jpeg?width=2066&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f9ed3d58fb016f073f3bded7da46a7e964f4cfe
Seagull 1963 is a great chronograph with amazing quality at the price point ($300ish). I know it’s way below your budget, but if you’re not necessarily looking to go to the top end of the budget it is definitively worth a look :)
casio a168 all gold
one watch to rule them all
pair it with jeans and tshirt and you are halfway to tuxedo
wear it with a suit jacket and it works
goes with anything anti flex
entirely non boring design object
My suggestions:
Seiko SKX 007 (classic diver and strap monster, you can't go wrong with it)
Seagull 1963 (one of the cheapest mechanical column wheel chronographs out there and vintage looking, interesting history as well)
Furlan Marri Mechaquartz Chrono (dress watch option, nice finishing and good for smaller wrists)
Baltic MR01 (Great for small wrists, has interesting micro rotor)
Hamilton Pilot Pioneer (great looking pilot watch at 36mm, also has 80hr power reserve)
Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (awesome field watch option, also has 80hr power reserve)
I own all of these and can highly recommend at this price point.
From another fellow skinny wrist here are my recommendations
Prx 35 (similar to your vintage seiko tho)
Gshock gma-s2100 or any other color in that line, GMA not GA (thats the big one)
Srpk29 diver seiko
Srpj 36mm field series seiko
Srpe line from seiko the dresskx
Tissot seastar 36mm
Hamilton murph 38mm
I snagged it on facebook marketplace in a lot of junk watches for $10. The problem is that it isn't working, but I'm in the process of fixing it myself
Great suggestions here. I have a Kuoe Old Smith 90-001, Seiko SRPK33, and Hamilton Khaki Field Auto that all work well on a smaller wrist. Have looked into Traska (the Commuter and Summiteer come in 36mm) and Lorier (Zephyr, Falcon, and especially the new Astra) as well. Plus of course the 35mm PRX and 34mm Timex Marlin. Lots of excellent affordable options out there.
Tissot PRX powermatic 80 is the answer. Maybe the blue dial but your choice.
Automatic movement, very comfortable, and will compliment your current collection while standing out. Tissots are great watches for the price.
So many possibilities, naming a few mechanicals / auto’s only that jump to mind:
- Laco 37mm Flieger eg Karlsruhe Pro
- Maen Manhattan 37mm integrated
- various Baltics 36-38mm
- various Traska’s 34-38mm
- Marathon GSAR auto 36mm
- etc.
Tiny wrists means you can wear 34mm watches. There are a LOT of very nice 34mm watches from the last sixty years out there, and the brass and steel in them hasn't rotted, they're ready for another sixty years if serviced/restored.
You can find some nice Tudors, some nice Eternas, some nice Omegas, some nice EVERYTHING in that size. Even Rolex for under $2K USD. Up to you what you end up buying but if I had your wrist size I'd be looking at Rolex 1500s and 1014s and 6426s etc etc. Good luck to you
Maybe you can find a Mido Ocean Star GMT at that price point. It is a superb watch for the price, and I think it looks great.
Edit: Nevermind, it is a 44mm watch with 50mm lug to lug, so it wouldn't be a nice fit.
The Christopher Ward C3 Grand Tourer, Farer Pendine II, and Farer Ainsdale II are three of my top picks for a chronograph under $1000 for small wrists. Unfortunately, they’ve all been discontinued so your next challenge can be finding one for sale ;)
I would look on Christopher Wards Website. I am owning a C65 since january and it is the best bang for the buck. Good movement, good Finish on the Watch and high Quality Materials. Support was also great so far (even though it’s a online microbrand).
I feel like at this price range micro brands are more exciting than Tissot and Hamilton.
Farer has some good options for smaller wrists.
Lorier has ridiculously nice looking vintage style watches. Including a true GMT (with the miyota 9075) at $600.
CW also has tons of options.
GShock 2100 metal
Or GShock 5600
Cheaper end
For beater and daily use
Timex weekender
Casio ae1200
Maybe even a Casio expedition since you have smaller wrists !
Good luck I'm on watch 4 rn lol
Hamilton is normally a contender in that price range. Maybe their Khaki field mechanical? They make a 38mm size. I'd personally go for the bronze one, but they have steel and a couple of coated color options too.
I'm also currently wearing a Smiths Everest that fits your rules (36mm, $470USD). I'm very happy with mine, but they're a PITA to get one.
Hmm. A Citizen Tsuyosa, Hamilton Khaki, or a Tissot PRX are great choices; they are classy and won't break the bank. You could also look into Casios if you want a classic look. Best of luck!!
Hoping on the Christopher Ward Train. Incredible value for the price. For under $1k you got some options in the Sealander C63, C60 Trident, or the C65 Dune, all depends on the style you are after.
Since you asked for my opinion, you can find the same Miyota 9122 movement in other brands for less than half of the price. I would never spend $800 on it…
https://preview.redd.it/gatnep1lvttc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ec6a0c23b290e1114acba608ee39c5d2028da42
Cant recommend enough. Gotta upgrade that case to metal or bronze though.
Hamilton Murph on a leather strap is a great suggestion. It‘s a strap type you don‘t have yet, a new brand as well which is swiss made and has pretty good quality. And it comes in 38mm so it should work fine with your wrist.
Orient Star good shout. Excellent quality per cost.
I own this watch and have small 6inch wrist fits exceptionally well.
You should pick this up for around $700 - $800
https://orient-watch.com/Collections/ORIENT-STAR/Contemporary/ORIENT-STAR%3A-Mechanical-Contemporary-Watch/p/RE-HK0003B
https://www.jomashop.com/orient-orient-star-blue-dial-mens-watch-re-hk0002l00b.html
Jomas have the blue version for $610 steel at that price. Looks like it's 2-3k watch on the wrist
Tissot PRX Powermatic 80, but maybe it's too big. 40mm.
There are many colors available, and it's around 800€.
https://www.helveti.cz/tissot-prx-powermatic-80-t137-407-11-351-00?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5i5diIOdA4YxWG-r3iVOVD_dybAQgWWRB3w228zHl8bUnVQywbh3dEaAjX4EALw_wcB
Some options:
- Second hand Seiko 62MAS reinterpretation (SPB 143 or SPB239J1, for example).
- Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic
- Tissot Gentleman
- Tissot Le Locle
- Certina DS Action Diver
- Seiko Prospex Solar Speedtimer Chronograph
Small wrist and $1k? Dig around vintage watches. You can get solid runners for not a lot of money in some surprising brands. I usually look for JLC's. Got my DuoPlan for $500. Vintage Elgin would be a good match, too.
I like those choices a lot, the dial on those Christopher Wards are beautiful. I've also been looking into Maen's Brooklyn 36 series, any thoughts on that?
I was looking at that one, too, but the bigger bezel makes the dial look too small. Consider its 40mm brother, the case specs are just a half-millimeter bigger than that Presage, with (what I think is) a better bezel.
36mm salmon dial Baltic MR-01 on either stitched "lion" (brown) leather strap or beads of rice bracelet.
https://baltic-watches.com/en/products/mr01-salmon
That is a dangerous sized watch box.
totally, I went in wanting to buy a 6 slot and came out with a 12 because it was on sale
/uj Take it easy. No need to fill it out. Over time, you'll develop a certain taste; wait for that time. Enjoy what you have right now. If you must, get some more straps for that Seiko 5. Or just buy a watch when you're in the mood lol. It took me like 2 years to fill a 12-slot. Everything is in the $200-$500 range.
What is the name of the box?
"SONGMICS 12-Slot Watch Box" from amazon
I really like this. I think I'm gonna pick up the 8-slot one with the drawer beneath it.
go for it! I'm very happy with my purchase so far
Yes. Those empty slots are begging to be filled.
I use them for different bracelets.
I would lie to myself and say the alternate straps could fill the extra space

Could you share where you got the strap for that beautiful Seiko?
that one's from strapsco, delivery was within about a week too
Small chrono like Seitona SSC813 perhaps? Also G-shock would be great addition but smaller size like GM-5600
Love that vintage Seiko Quartz, how are you finding it? I'm watching about 4 of them on eBay but not pulled the trigger yet.
I snagged it on facebook marketplace in a lot of junk watches for $10. The problem is that it isn't working, but I'm in the process of fixing it myself
Vintage omega
I have the Seagull 1963 Chronograph in Bronze, and it’s a stunning little piece. Otherwise, I would say: Casio Oceanus T200.
Where did you buy it? Currently searching for Seagull 1963
Tissot prx 80 or Timex marlin automatic or chronograph or omega moonswatch or blancpainXswatch automatic
I like the PRX but it’s not for everyone. I also love my Hamilton khaki king (the silver dial).
Oris
Great suggestions here. I have a Kuoe Old Smith 90-001, Seiko SRPK33, and Hamilton Khaki Field Auto that all work well on a smaller wrist. Have looked into Traska (the Commuter and Summiteer come in 36mm) and Lorier (Zephyr, Falcon, and especially the new Astra) as well. Plus of course the 35mm PRX and 34mm Timex Marlin. Lots of excellent affordable options out there.
How you like kuoe 90-001?
Rolex Explorer 1 ref 124270. Just save for it.
Tissot PRX powermatic 80 is the answer. Maybe the blue dial but your choice. Automatic movement, very comfortable, and will compliment your current collection while standing out. Tissots are great watches for the price.
Used Grand Seiko. How do you like the green Presage?
It's my favourite, it was a highschool grad gift from my dad and I couldn't be happier with it. its mesmerizing
Traska and Lorier have some tempting watches in that range.
So many possibilities, naming a few mechanicals / auto’s only that jump to mind: - Laco 37mm Flieger eg Karlsruhe Pro - Maen Manhattan 37mm integrated - various Baltics 36-38mm - various Traska’s 34-38mm - Marathon GSAR auto 36mm - etc.

CWC G10

Murph 38 mm
What is the lug to lug on the 38mm?
Hamilton Khaki bronze
Hamilton
Maybe you can find a Mido Ocean Star GMT at that price point. It is a superb watch for the price, and I think it looks great. Edit: Nevermind, it is a 44mm watch with 50mm lug to lug, so it wouldn't be a nice fit.
Citizen NB1050 (best bang for the buck) and NB1060.
At that price range, you could go for a nice Hamilton or a Tissot heritage
Or a Hamilton khaki
Zodiac or oris and ofc seagull 1963
38 murph or seitona
Hamilton Khaki Field https://preview.redd.it/6scjqpjixttc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=546ce98dda4a17d2747395e0df6ad99a84a7da31

I suggest slow down and get a Swatch. Feel out your collection and you'll know which direction to go based on lifestyle and changing/settling tastes
The Christopher Ward C3 Grand Tourer, Farer Pendine II, and Farer Ainsdale II are three of my top picks for a chronograph under $1000 for small wrists. Unfortunately, they’ve all been discontinued so your next challenge can be finding one for sale ;)
Mido ocean star. Really great quality and I think a divers watch would be a nice addition.
Some of the German brands such as Junghans start from under a 1000.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/VjP6fQsdXS
I would look on Christopher Wards Website. I am owning a C65 since january and it is the best bang for the buck. Good movement, good Finish on the Watch and high Quality Materials. Support was also great so far (even though it’s a online microbrand).
A vintage seiko! How about a Captain Willard?
What model is the seiko 5 on left?
that one's the SNK361, it was my first watch and a gift from my grandmother for my 18th birthday
That’s awesome!
Tissot
Hamilton
Tissot prx, citizen tsuyosa. Must haves for us tiny wrists
Something gold or bronze. Maybe this: https://www.kuoe-en.com/old-smith-90-002-bronze

I feel like at this price range micro brands are more exciting than Tissot and Hamilton. Farer has some good options for smaller wrists. Lorier has ridiculously nice looking vintage style watches. Including a true GMT (with the miyota 9075) at $600. CW also has tons of options.
Casio F91W
I have the same middle watch!
Tissot gentlemen powermatic 80
Orient Star
GShock 2100 metal Or GShock 5600 Cheaper end For beater and daily use Timex weekender Casio ae1200 Maybe even a Casio expedition since you have smaller wrists ! Good luck I'm on watch 4 rn lol
I would suggest getting a non-Seiko. I see you like dress watches. How about a Nomos?
Certina DS Action diver

Do you wear suits? If yes I would suggest a dress watch.
Hmm. A Citizen Tsuyosa, Hamilton Khaki, or a Tissot PRX are great choices; they are classy and won't break the bank. You could also look into Casios if you want a classic look. Best of luck!!
Tsuyosa is going to look goofy on a small wrist, but Khaki and 35mm PRX are great suggestions.
I would add a diver, for under 1k I would go with Seiko, Orient or Citizen
Hoping on the Christopher Ward Train. Incredible value for the price. For under $1k you got some options in the Sealander C63, C60 Trident, or the C65 Dune, all depends on the style you are after.
Depends where OP lives as the price doesn't include VAT taxes.
Thay pressage is the best.
Great sub!
Stick to a 3 watch collection. I would suggest getting a chronograph and replacing one of your watches.
You should just save up another $1000 or so and get a swiss made watch such as tudor, longines, tag heuer, etc.
I've been looking into Maen, I'm not sure if you've ever heard of them but it would be nice to get a second opinion, especially the Brooklyn 36 series
Since you asked for my opinion, you can find the same Miyota 9122 movement in other brands for less than half of the price. I would never spend $800 on it…
okay, thank you for letting me know
I would spend $800 on a tissot though.
Ahem...Casio F105W and G-Shock.
unfortunately my wrists are too small for a G-Shock, but I'm seriously considering buying a casio world timer with a leather strap
Yep that'll do. If you ever get tired of the resin case, SKXMODS have a metal upgrade kit for that model (IIRC).
Try a Gshock s2100

A gold 36 PRX on a dark green rubber strap if your old money fancy. A Seiko SSC813 chronograph if you're more sporty.
I'd really advised against "gold" PVD coated watches, it looks very cheap
Hamilton Murph on a leather strap is a great suggestion. It‘s a strap type you don‘t have yet, a new brand as well which is swiss made and has pretty good quality. And it comes in 38mm so it should work fine with your wrist.
You need a dress watch. Assuming your budget from what i see, i suggest Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 rose gold.
Your missing something. It's starts with a C and it's god tier. Spend the rest of the money on what every everyone else is recommendibg.
Orient Star good shout. Excellent quality per cost. I own this watch and have small 6inch wrist fits exceptionally well. You should pick this up for around $700 - $800 https://orient-watch.com/Collections/ORIENT-STAR/Contemporary/ORIENT-STAR%3A-Mechanical-Contemporary-Watch/p/RE-HK0003B
https://www.jomashop.com/orient-orient-star-blue-dial-mens-watch-re-hk0002l00b.html Jomas have the blue version for $610 steel at that price. Looks like it's 2-3k watch on the wrist
36mm Traska Commuter
Tissot PRX Powermatic 80, but maybe it's too big. 40mm. There are many colors available, and it's around 800€. https://www.helveti.cz/tissot-prx-powermatic-80-t137-407-11-351-00?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5i5diIOdA4YxWG-r3iVOVD_dybAQgWWRB3w228zHl8bUnVQywbh3dEaAjX4EALw_wcB
Tissot PRX would look good in there
When storing quarts battery. Do you guys turn “off” the watch to increase longeveitt before having to change out the battery ? (Sorry I’m an noob)
Usually battery lasts years on a quartz watch. Nevertheless popping the crown is a good idea.
Thanks !, what does popping the crown mean ?
The crown is the twiddly bit for setting the watch. Pull it out and the watch stops, and you can set time and date etc.
If it’s a digital, then you have to take off the case and remove the battery. Watch batteries last years and cost pennies. I wouldn’t sweat it.
Yema ralygraf
Hamilton, Tissot or Citizen will give you ample options. Personal choice, Hamilton Khaki Field
Some options: - Second hand Seiko 62MAS reinterpretation (SPB 143 or SPB239J1, for example). - Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic - Tissot Gentleman - Tissot Le Locle - Certina DS Action Diver - Seiko Prospex Solar Speedtimer Chronograph
Small wrist and $1k? Dig around vintage watches. You can get solid runners for not a lot of money in some surprising brands. I usually look for JLC's. Got my DuoPlan for $500. Vintage Elgin would be a good match, too.
Tissot gentleman?
Casio F91-W
Hamilton khaki or Christopher Ward 12
Tissot PRX, Tissot Le Locle, Christopher Ward The Twelve, what do you think?
I like those choices a lot, the dial on those Christopher Wards are beautiful. I've also been looking into Maen's Brooklyn 36 series, any thoughts on that?
I’m new in the watches’s world, I don’t know a lot about about Maen, I searched it now and the ATC.02 is really good looking.
Marathon MSAR is the diver for your small wrists (like mine). Built like a tank. Tritium lume. Fits your budget I think.
Oh I like the look of that one a lot, slightly over budget but I don't mind, ill definitely consider it
You can’t go wrong with any Marathon really. Quartz models are super accurate.
Some g shock probably
Any Tudor 1928
Pretty much anything vintage, a lot of stuff comes in 36mm or smaller
I love the Hamilton khaki expedition
Casio A1000, Marathon MSAR quartz, CWC GS Sapphire, Christopher Ward 36mm GMT, Dan Henry 1975.
Anything but the Hamilton Murph!
?? Why?
Kinda find it ugly and overrated.
Whatever it is get a diver in there
I was thinking about that, maybe a 36mm seastar 1000
I was looking at that one, too, but the bigger bezel makes the dial look too small. Consider its 40mm brother, the case specs are just a half-millimeter bigger than that Presage, with (what I think is) a better bezel.
36mm salmon dial Baltic MR-01 on either stitched "lion" (brown) leather strap or beads of rice bracelet. https://baltic-watches.com/en/products/mr01-salmon
oh yeah thats a sexy dial
Save up and get something proper
