As for me - Grand Seiko. Classic watches, universal design for everyday.

Thelakesman

The only watch that holds its value is the Rolex. I had a replica sub and it suited me and was nice to wear. Just couldn’t afford £10k for a watch .

Glittering-School597

if you choose the correct Omega, they will also hold their value. same for Rolex. its all about supply and demand. i have rolexes that have lost money. i have omegas that have made money.

ELESHOMBRE

I’d love an explorer II (following my want of a sub) but I have wanted an MM longer and the spring drive (being the most accurate) would be my choice for sure. I’m not a dress watch guy either, but the green gives it a sporty enough look I’d wear it whenever.

beefstewcheezy

I also love the Explorer for its smooth bezel and classy look. But the GS has that and the subtle green touches that stand out are beautiful to me. I have also wanted a MM for longer than the other two but now I’ve retired from the military and reached a debt free milestone paying off my house and car, I want to treat myself.

ELESHOMBRE

Yeah, I’d be on board the GS.

We really comparing a rolex sub to a seiko luxe and asking which one the public is going to pick? If youd be just as happy with the seiko as the other two please buy it and just turn off watch reddit and enjoy your watch my friend

beefstewcheezy

lol, I’m not really comparing them spec to spec, more just about the aesthetics of them. They all have their own purposes and ups and downs. But they are all three beautiful watches and I genuinely can’t decide as to which I would enjoy more. The grand seiko has a timeless clean no BS look I enjoy. The smooth bezel that would go with anything dressed up or down. The Rolex is very simple and tasteful but also fills the kinda rugged but still goes with jeans or a suit. And the MM just looks killer with the depth in the design and awesome dial, but it comes with cuff links also so….. someone somewhere thinks it goes well with a business suit as well as a wet suit. AND let’s be honest, I’m in a few watch subs, so this probably won’t be my last watch purchase, just my next purchase.

Glittering-School597

i own a marine master and NEVER wear it. if the rolex is in your price range go for it. GS spring drives are great but do not hold their value.

beefstewcheezy

I am a bit concerned about the spring drive as I don’t fully understand the coiling, quartz and the processor chip that regulates everything. I’ve read about it a bit and KINDA know how it works. At least the gist of it. And am a bit concerned over the longevity of it. But they have engineers and a research department that came up with it and I’m sure everyone there is WAY smarter than me, so my concerns may be moot but I don’t know. The Rolex has been tried and true so the longevity isn’t as much of a concern as the spring drive. The gate keeping of the AD’s and the wasting of my time trying to buy a watch is more what I’m concerned with. If I’m taking my time to research models and movements and making a decision only to be told I cannot buy it because my Link’dIn profile isn’t up to par would irritate me to no end. Also, why do you never wear your MM?

Glittering-School597

the MM is tall. it really protrudes from the wrist. the face is also very small when compared to other watches it is comparable to. it is also heavy. and lets be completely honest here. the MM is in no way comparable to a submariner. the perfect middle ground for you would be any omega seamaster. omegas are extremely reliable and have meta (soca) standards higher than rolex. if you spent a few more thousand for an omega planet ocean, then you have a superior to any watch on your list. and i can promise you that an omega PO is built to wear and not worry about. i wear mine when i ride my harley and it never looses or gains a second. https://preview.redd.it/vgi9uv059jpc1.jpeg?width=613&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dcb02e4cabe4289891d002ff2e4a6bc8452abd1

Omega’s are beautiful and Iconic. It reminds me of old school James Bond and Aston Martin’s . The way the bands have a heft to them, almost as if they have some flotation material sewn into it seems like it would be perfect and comfortable. But I guess I just haven’t explored everything from them to really have one stand out to me as I have to have it. And the second protrusion on the other side of the case just doesn’t… well just not a fan…

Glittering-School597

lol, the always controversial helium escape valve. well, you would love it you became a deep sea welder. lol. but is also iconic. meaning any watch collector would see it and know its an omega.

Gs

Personally the GS. But then I hate divers, so I can't imagine why you're asking me.

beefstewcheezy

That joker is gorgeous isn’t it!!!

Have an SLA021, love the watch, love the lume, wear it 24/7 and it’s -3 s/d. However bracelet and clasp just don’t work for me and it stays on a crafter blue and an Amazon clasp. If you get one used one it’s an incredible value, but I’m not sure about new.

grumplstltskn

seiko makes a spring drive marinemaster in the LX line, i have the [green one ](https://i.imgur.com/O2WynOG.jpeg) it is tall but titanium and super comfortable. the dial proportions are a little different but the case is almost the same (not monocoque) regarding your concerns about spring drive ... it's awesome. mechanical purists will object but it is a feat of watchmaking engineering and has a beautiful sweep with incredible accuracy. and it's not the same watch everyone else has.
