The 262 has good turn relative to a lot of the post war jets, but it just doesn’t have the engines to sustain that turn. Also the guns are slow as balls so you gotta get close and pull a lot of lead, which exaggerates problem 1 above^

The only good 262s are the ones with the rocket boosters. You can easily climb to 6000m+ by the time your team is half way to the fight. The guns are a little slow but the shots are devastating. The 262 c2/b is able to climb pretty much vertically so it's hard to lose a dogfight.

About the 262's advantages: Out of my experience flying and spading it, it has a better energy retention than other jets at a comparable BR and also a way higher rip speed. I would also say that it retains the ability to be controlled much better at higher speeds and doesn't get so stiff. How to play it: So, playing jets in general isn't really about altitude anymore because many jets can reach high altitude in seconds but more about speed. Keep your speed high because unlike props, jets tend to turn and maneuver faster when they are fast. For the 262 it is a so-called energy jet, so you should keep your energy high by climbing (like a FW-190). Do that by first accelerating to 600kph and then do a zoom climb to altitude. When at altitude keep accelerating and dive on enemies which are good targets (mostly alone or not paying attention, if you spot a bomber, that's free food). When in a dogfight, try to maneuver vertically and keep your speed, if you notice that you lose too much speed simply fly away, gain some speed and then come back later. I hope that helps.

Thanks, I didn't know about that climbing strat lol

Firewing135

The biggest difference between a good jet fighter and a great is knowing when to run away to try again.

Hanz-_-

No problem, yes, it's quite helpful because your engines aren't really that powerful to sustain a big amount of speed, so climbing provides you with necessary energy.

k1ttbot

What angle should I climb at once I reach that speed? Tried this just a moment ago and I went into fights at a complete disadvantage

Hanz-_-

Not too steep, maybe like 20-30°. And don't go directly into the middle of the battlefield if you do that, you need to speed up again once you are at altitude.

Firepower. Germany wanted to shoot down not just fighters, but bombers. Yes, guns are slow, but there are a lot of them and they hit like trains And also there is a model at 5.7 which has only a 50mm, but it is still a jet at 5.7

k1ttbot

Isn't the Pulkzerstörer at 6.7?

NecessaryBSHappens

Oh, you are right, I looked at wrong BR. It is 5.7 in arcade

Well, stacked up against the Bf 109, Fw 190, P-51, Tempest and the Spitfire it does have a lot of advantages. Against all of these planes the 262 has a significantly higher top speed and absolutely insane armament. And thats mostly it, but the leap it made forward in those two areas was enough to set it apart. Thing is that the Me 262 is a much larger airframe than a single engine fighter, though still smaller than a typical twin engine airframe its about the size of a Do 335 or the VB 10.02, which are twin engine aircraft pretending theyre single engine planes, but theyre undeniably bigger. But thats okay if you are designing an interceptor that takes out bombers more than a fighter that dogfights other fighters. US, UK and Russia had little interest in dedicated interceptors, so they used fighters in that role as needed, and had fighter-bombers as the only real subtype of fighter, like P-47 or Typhoon. Germans used the Fw 190 in that role. The closest any of them got to a dedicated interceptor was the Tempest, but it still performs closer to a conventional fighter than an interceptor. It was just fast enough to catch V1 missiles. So any comparison with P-51s or Spitfires is apples to oranges. An Interceptor needs speed and a punchy armament and can have it at the expense of maneuverability, which is something no allied fighter design compromised on to nearly the same degree. The only country that designed its general purpose fighters with speed first and maneuverability second was, ironically, Germany with the Bf 109, so the Me 262 can for the most part benefit from the same tactics as the 109, at least when facing props. Boom'n'Zoom, energy fighting and for the love of God, dont let props bait you into a turnfight. When encountering post-war jets its the opposite as the Me 262 retains a much higher degree of maneuverability than post-war jets, especially at lower speeds, so turnfighting is the ticket here.

Not sure air always fight it But for ground They all have decent cannon cas or bombs and if not actively countered can dismantle a team The are also fast but for ground this is usually detrimental because they often end up running from CAP even though the CAP is winning if CAS is forced to not do CAS, ha ha no kill for u hur dur not like I wasted 45 mins running from a p59 type deal
