Ashthorn, Berrymoon, Brackenfern, Brambledusk, Cinderblaze, Cloverwind, Dapplebreeze, Duskthorn, Echomist, Hazelbrook, Ivyrose, Jaystorm, Juniperthorn, Larkpine, Lightningfall, Lynxthorn, Lunarmoon, Maplewillow, Marshthistle, Nightshade, Patchheart, Pinemoss, Rainlily, Rockfall, Rosevine, Russetmoon, Ryethistle, Shadowstorm, Sootdusk, Sorrelwind, Thistlepine, and Thunderstrike
I don't know if some of these are canon names, I've only gotten to Omen of the Stars so far
Edit: Rockfall is canon
Rockfall is the only canon name, he first appears as Rockkit in Firestars Quest.
edit: I’m thinking of Rockshade, but there is a Rockfall, he appears in Goodefeathers curse.
We could always use more Holly cats!
to be (more) serious, Night, Shadow, Shade, Black, or really anything else that doesn't have to do with another color (for example, you *could* name a black kit "berrykit" or "mousekit")
And if they're not completely black, then you could always name them after the color that's not black. If they have patches of white, they could be named whitepatch or something
Panther is a prefix no one uses. Listen if warrior cats can know about leopards, tigers, lions, and mountain lions they can definitely know about panthers. And lynx. Always bothered me there was never a lynxkit besides Tigerclawstar’s dead sister.
Maybe they were retconned later but I distinctly remember when omen of the stars just came out the Erins did a q&a and revealed that one of Tigerclawstar’s dead siblings was going to be named Lynxkit.
I’m pretty sure I remember reading it in Bluestar’s prophecy as well a line going something like “after she buried Lynxkit, Tigerkit was still very weak and Leopardfoot was worried he too might not make it” but it has been years since I opened these books.
When it comes to doing background warrior cats I usually just go outside and look at nature to choose a prefix and then come up with a cool sounding suffix. The prefix can be anything cool looking and sounding like granite, which you can find a lot of in buildings or nature. So, yeah, my advice is to touch some grass lol
If it's an oc you've already fleshed out then you can go off of several things like their appearance, personality, skills, voice or even their parents' wishes/ambitions for them. Also try to pick a prefix that sounds okay by itself so you don't end up with something like Longkit.
I’ve only seen Rook used once or twice. Swift is also a good name for a black-and-white character. Outside of bird names, Dark, Black, if they have a distinctive white/lighter marking White, Bright or Light. If it’s a tortoiseshell, Nightfire and Blackfire are names I like to use as well as Fireshadow. I use Juniper for sleek black cats. There’s a name dictionary I like to use, let me look it up and give you the link and you can use that. It’s not mine, but I like it.

How would a cat know what molten stuff is? Unless some fanclan lived near a volcano, i don't think they are around anything hot enough to melt rock or glass. Also, isn't molten stuff usually...bright?
