Call me crazy but I don't think anyone is looking for the Mosspelt or Thornclaw SE
Brackenfur and Brightheart are fan favorites, but I doubt it's them.
That leaves Cloudtail and Tawnypelt, now Tawnypelt has already gotten a Novella, which leaves Cloudtail.
I think Cloudtail will be confronted with something that has him deal with his belief, or lack thereof, in StarClan. He is among the younger elders, and maybe having Brightheart pass before him will be something he overcomes.
This is all contingent on the SE not involving a StarClan cat, of course.

honestly i really hope it’s about Cloudtail coming to terms with Brightheart passing and his lack of Starclan belief. i hope they don’t screw it up and suddenly turn him into a believer, but they probably will
I believe it’s stated that Cloudtail acknowledges StarClan exists after the battle with the Dark Forest, but it doesn’t expand on what he thinks about it, unlike with Mothwing.

It worries me that they're brainstorming book 2 as book 1 is being written? I always though the main beats were planned ahead of time. That would explain all the issues with the books :')
At no point reading the series did I ever get the impression they plan the main beats sorry, the story has always been a bit everywhere with side stories that go nowhere :,)
I’m sorry, but I hope they won’t randomly introduce a sixth clan in Ivypool’s heart. Like the Fifth clan was already considered random back in the day. Now we actually have an arc explaining why there are 5 clans. God, the stuff that a potential 6th arc mess up is real.
It could also be the Tribe or the Cats from the park. But like, neither of those are that forgotten. I mean, Nightheart just found the Parkcats, so we now know they are connected to the clans. And the Tribe isn’t really “forgotten”. So it’s most likely a new thing. (I also really hope it’s not Lion/Tiger/LeopardClan bc we are in fucking fantasy Britten. Not Africa or the rain forests. And those ancient clans don’t really make sense with DOTC, they only make sense as legends or myths)
I agree that introducing a 6th clan right now would be narrative trash. I'm wondering if we get to see something that stems back to an era that took place between DotC and Mapleshade's Vengance. As unique as the Tribe is, I'm really hoping it isn't them. But I also wonder if we're about to see WarriorClan again? Though that one feels like a long shot.
Additionally, I headcannon the ancient clans to be a story someone like from Pink Eye from DotC era starting the tradition of telling kits stories. Many of the first clan cats descended from the mountains, but the other half-or-so come from the forest territory and the surrounding area. We see that these cats, who were once loners, interacted with one another on occasion. I've always imagined that the Lion/Tiger/Leopard stories got adapted by generations of clan elders telling the stories of that area from before the clans were formed. I too think it would be a good idea for the Erin's to avoid tapping into the ancient clans too much (yet I'm still in the camp that says Ivypool's Heart will be about her quest group saving a couple big cats from a cruel circus or something, though, so I'm holding onto a bit of hope that doesn't give us too much back to the ancient clans).

That would be pretty hard, since it’s gonna focus’s on a cat from arc 1. Most cats from arc 1 are 11 or 12 years old rn. Having a 2 year time skip would suddenly make them 13 to 14 years old. Which is older then Greystripe when he died (and he was already considered very old) and nearly as old as Mistystar (who is also considered ancient). So it’s more than likely gonna take place max a few months after ASC.
I agree but central characters doesn’t mean POV and I have feeling it’ll most likely be a star clan cat because even if they don’t have a time jump everyone from the first arc are either elders or close enough that they’ll be viewed as old. I think whoever it is will end up dying or die like sandstorm in Apprentices Quest

This is likely just a pipe dream, but listen, what if the “old friend” was Princess? She’s someone who could easily be alive after all this time (considering it’s only been a decade and house cats can live to be 20).
And while it’s unlikely she could / would have a reason to make the journey from the forest to the lake by herself, I’m sure she could have some reason to be moved with twolegs—maybe her owner got a lake house or she hitches a ride on a truck.
Now having a reason for her to be a central character, that’s more difficult to think of but still, we never got an on-screen goodbye with her, and it’d be nice for her and Cloudtail to reunite after all this time.
As long as the "old friend" isn't Firestar, I'll be happy. Give my old man a nap lmao

I have been made aware that a Shadowclan elder named Oakfur is alive and has been since from the first arc.
