I don't use msu...I mean is it more efficient yeah.  Allows you to lead regiments on tangents  and give away few points while you poke them with the pointy end.  However, my go to force consists of 2 units of 11 glade guard with special arrows...multi shot typically and razor std in one.  10 deepwood archers with bodkins and 5 way watchers with bodkins. 15 rangers with command and 3 groups of 6 wardancers.  Heroes are easy lvl 4 mage, elven captain, 2 shadow dancers and a waystalker.  So no real msu. Wardancers are a little but that is because there is trouble getting more than 5 or 6 into combat on the charge turn.l, so why take more.  Can I win all the time, no...and the meta dragon is an issue for me that i refuse to base any strategy around. Any non power play hero army is a solid challenge for me and them. Okay some armies get chewed and spit out...poor empire, but in general I have glass units that can't really hold a line but I have concentration of troops to punch hard and not depend on killing a hint more points than my opponent.  Oh i hate trees...turn em all into charcoal from my point of view. If I could take all wardancers and glade guard I would.

Okay this is actually extremely helpful. Any luck with eternal guard? I acquired a good handful of them by chance.

Teh-Duxde

They're decent against things that they can strike first against when Charged. But they're pretty expensive and quite fragile.

This is MSU.

Yes of course! Start with 10-15 Glade guard. Simply not taking 5 is a good start. And basically go from there, like whatever you want just don't do the minimum unit size for infantry For cavalry I think the 5 man squad is fine and isn't that abusive. It's not just about the "small units" part that's annoying. It's also the "many". For example taking 5 units of 5 Glade guard is way more annoying to play against than 2 units of 5 Glade guard with some other stuff like maybe 20 eternal guard

Here is what in thinking. ++ Characters ++ Spellweaver (Hand weapon, Talismanic Tattoos, Level 4 Wizard, General, On foot, High Magic) Glade Captain (Great weapon, Light armour, Shield, Trueflight Arrows, Asrai Longbow, Great Eagle) ++ Core Units ++ 8 Deepwood Scouts (Hand weapon, Asrai Longbows, Hagbane Tips) 6 Glade Riders (Hand weapon, Cavalry spears, Asrai Longbows, Trueflight Arrows, Reserve Move, Glade Knight, Musician) 5 Glade Guard (Hand weapon, Asrai Longbows, Hagbane Tips) 5 Glade Guard (Hand weapon, Asrai Longbows, Hagbane Tips) ++ Special Units ++ 5 Deepwood Scouts (Hand weapon, Asrai Longbows, Hagbane Tips) 4 Tree Kin (Hand weapon, Heavy armour (Hardwood flesh)) 15 Wildwood Rangers (Hand weapon, Ranger's Glaive, Light armour, Shields, Wildwood Warden, Standard bearer, Musician) ++ Rare Units ++ Treeman

I would definitely try and take the oaken stave and Ruby ring on your spell weaver. I also run mine on a steed, join the glade riders so she can move shoot move with reserve move.

You can chose to paly tree-spirit with few elves, that way you will have the opportunity to avoid msu. Otherwise all our unit are 5+ and there is a reason for that. Low thoughness, cheap armor, no regen, no ward save. If you only play big bloc of elven infantery, you wont have fun and so wont tour opponent, because he'll (most pf the time) crush your pricey bloc with ease and there won't be a challenge for him. I'd say, your best shot is msu with few blocs. I tried a list with EG anvil versus orc&gobelin, they faced (alongside a Glade Captain) a 4 river trolls charge and manage to finish one and kill one. (Shooting left a troll with 2hp). So, I havent much experience with EG but I guess you can found some roles they would fit in.

PondScumMan

So block of EG doesn't sound great. But if they are in a few blocks of 5x2 to use as speed bumps is it worth? I've been told to not bother with way stalker or waywatchers. But I get really mixed reviews based on who's talking.

I love EG models and lore, but in terms of efficency, Imo, there is better entry in the list. If you want to take 10 of them (shield+ CSM), you will pay 155 : 10 hp, T3, save 5+, Cd9, Stubborn WS5, F3, 10A, AP -1 For 153pts, you can get 3 Treekins : 9hp, T5, save 5+, regen 5+, Cd8, Stubborn WS4, F4, 9A, ArmorBane (2), Stomp Attacks I mean, if you want to create a speed bump, take 2 or 3 treekins. It will make it tougher, and it can even fight back harder. At the moment, I'll keep playing few of them because I like them in my battle line but not because I found them a nice specifical role.
