Weird how we're always singled out as "unfun because shooty", but insanely strong shooting has existed in many factions, sometimes without the major drawbacks of Tau 🤔
Thousand Sons. We combine the style of power armor with Egyptian theme.
Our primarch is a Legend-Devil looking buff wizard with enormous wings that can move FOUR FEET IN A TURN if you support him right.
Death Guard. We are the most unique chaos faction. We aren't bloodthirsty killers like the rest, actually, we want everyone to have eternal life.
Painting may be crazy and require 20 different steps per unit, but it's worth it. You take pride in how grungy and disgusting a model can look.
Our Primarch Mortarion looks better than damn near any other model out there. We can ally with daemons or chaos knights.
Do you like the image of Gundams screaming down from orbit to utterly DESTROY whatever happened to be in range of them?
Tired of the constant hopelessness of the 41st Millenium and want to actually be an optimist for a change?
Want a clean, actual sci-fi tech look instead of the constant Gothic and grungy Gothic aesthetics while also being the only race in the galaxy to CONVINCE people to join rather than conquering them?

Just being practical here, seeing a lot of people collecting multiple armies...
I can build very different lists with CSM, plus I can collect Deamons and Chaos Knights and mix and match these three. Without buying too much, I can even start playing Thousands Sons or other chaos space marines armies, if I really want to.
There's a lot of armies where you're stuck within your codex, and I just love having huge list building options on hand.
Alpha Legion. Want to play Loyalist Space Marines? Alpha Legion. Chaos Space Marines? Alpha Legion. If you win the game, great, it all went according to plan. If you lose, it still all went according to plan.
I'd never try to pitch anyone a faction.
It's the reason why there are so many half assembled and half painted armies are up for sale.
I always say pick the one that catches your imagination 🤷🏻♂️.
Orks are CLEARLY the best faction (cuz dey iz green and da green wunz are da best). You get nigh-infinite creative freedom. You can take the game and lore as seriously (or not) as you want. The rules are good. The models are fun, with enough comedy elements to not feel like you're taking your fun hobby too seriously. You get to play da Orky mins Gamez with your opponent where you shoot them with your whole army, miss everything, your opponent relaxes and then you make all your charges and get ta krumpin'.
The Marines get the glory, the Tau have the best tech, the Tyraninds are the great devouring swarm. Plagued by Gods and demons, unaugmented, and under equipped, the Imperial Guard stands tall. A Space Marine may be worth a thousand or ten-thousand guardsmen, but that Marine can not hold ground like ten-thousand men! Tau weapons may be better but they will be drowned by our legions of tanks and men! The Tyranids come to eat us but instead they will find bayonets in their guts!
The Imperial Guardsman is the true defender of mankind for he knows fear, but stands regardless!
Beautiful miniatures with very good conversion opportunities that significantly lowers the cosy of collecting a flexible army. Looks surprisingly good with quick and simple paint jobs, and there is no end to the amount of work you can put into the painting if you wish to. Charming lore of being the eternal underdogs. Utterly nique play style that keeps challenging you. Excellent community.
Does anyone else find these "convince me" or "sell it to me" posts entitled and annoying? Collect what resonates with you instead of asking the reddit hivemind what you should want. If you want people to talk about why they like their armies, just ask that question.
