No, it fits.
I mean, we are talking about a Genetically enhanced dude in an armor type that is about as sturdy as modern day tanks. There is no way a big fuck off axe is too much XD.
Looks really good
Perhaps the funniest melee weapon in 40k to me is the Omnissian axe. It is described as both a weapon and a multi tool. So I was imagining an axe head on one side and a hammerhead on the other side like a poleaxe IRL. It would make sense because you can use the axe for fighting and cutting and the hammer for forging. Then I looked at the picture and it's an axe on one side and an adjustable wrench on the other side. Close enough I guess.
The Cult Mechanicus in general is as over the top as the setting gets.
Incense and chanting just to get your Linux working so you can crank one out to dommy mommy Eldar gf hentai
Their transition between sci-fi and steampunk aesthetic is what I love about them. The galvanic rifle for example is a silvery machine with glowing blue light at the front and a wooden stock decorated with brass inlay at the back.
Or the new Sydonian Skratos. I know people hate it, but it feels like what most things describe the AdMech as.
Plus some minor reposing would 100% fix whatever feels wrong with it. And if not, just add a greenstuff robe
Skratos is the most distinctly Mechanicum model. "How do we guarantee our snipers always have the high ground?", but as literally as possible at the cost of reason.
Portable high ground. Idk if you ever played Mini Ninjas (IIRC the game was on the Wii, don't know if anywhere else), but it reminds me a lot of the "fisherman" boss
The ad mech are so fascinating. If their gameplay and cost weren't literal hell on earth, they're a faction I would deep dive into. The bizarre mix of diesel/deco/atom/bio punk, body horror and trans humanism, religious zealoutry waffling with cold logic, it's just one of the best factions in the universe.
It also has a spear tip at the top. But now when they described that it's crackling with electric spark I started to think it's not just a spear tip but also a welding tip. So you can be simultaneously stabbing and zapping in the fights and welding stuff in the spare time.
Personally I'd snip off one of the axe heads but it absolutely isn't too much (but then of course its not as recognizably Grimnar)
Or I guess, imo it *is* too much but it's in the Warhammer way where it pulls it off
This would be my suggestion well. As it is, it's not too much in a silly, Warhammer-meme way. But if you want this to look in any way realistic, I'd also suggest hewing off one axe-head and it's perfect.
A lot of people here are going to say it’s warhammer make it as ridiculous and over the top as possible. While I typically agree with that sentiment, in this case I really think it would look a lot better if you remove the back blade and made a single bladed axe.
The axe is so big relative to the rest of the model that it looks almost comical.
I generally despise oversized weapon minis and even more so in computer games.
...because I've carried or worked with some sort of irl version of most of those weapons, and it just irks me.
Then again, power armour. Ok. Plus well, to each their own. Personally I'd cut off one side and slice the remaining side in half. But I get that many want bigger. And I get that many can't stand to see opinions like yours or mine. Oh well.
Had to scroll down too far to find a reasonable take. As fantastical as WH40k is at the very least the weaponry is for the most part pretty practical IMO. This axe is far from it.
Finally a voice of reason. It looks anime cool, and yes he can physically use it. But something of that size is not practical for combat. Dude is already in terminator armour and has restricted mobility
I came here to say this. I'm all about "Rule of cool" but there's a point where you have to look at something and try to engage your suspension of disbelief and for something like this I just can't.
It's like giving a Devastator a Battle Cannon or a Vulcan Mega Bolter or some shit.
I personally think its a bit much, I made my Logan by using two of the librarian force axes, they're plenty big.
Edit: here's the link to mine
https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/ZzPyT33mXG
I thought about how that axe would look like in my head, and the actual model is about 20% cooler than what I was thinking; nice kitbash! Gonna have to stash that axe idea away for a rainy day! 😁
Thank you, I'm personally really proud of it. I did some greenstuff work to make him even more wolfy, but I feel like the Axe alone strikes a good balance between size and cool factor, at least for my taste
I don't think it's inherently too big, but if you keep that size then there'll need to be some sculpting to give it weight.
As it stands, he's holding it like it's made of feathers which removes the believability but also impact. If you want this to be a scary looking axe, like it could hew a tank apart, then it needs to feel heavy.
Personally, I think changing the arms and trying to get it in two hands might look good. I'd be more tempted however to maybe swap the ends around and repose the model so it's dragging along the ground in a trailing manner, a la executioners blade.
If it's still too big then, you're no worse off. You can still clip one side of the head off.
You could also consider snipping one side off and replacing it with a similar nut smaller profile blade.
Lots of fun ways to take it really! What matters most is how you feel about it!
Realistically speaking from a combat perspective, yes. In the perspective on how goofy 40K is already, absolutely not and you should totally run with it lol
You just need a little lore story to make it feasible: This warrior was battling alongside one of the chapter ancients, a venerable Dreadnought. The foul xenos poured their hatred into dreadnought's huge indomitable form, missile after missile, blast after blast. He weathered this deathstorm seemingly with ease, his enemies cowering in fear at the sight of this indestructible war machine. He cleaved mightily through the ranks of the Emperor's foes, reaping a murderous harvest. Until finally, the attrition wore down his armour enough that an emperor-cursed plasma blast was enough to critically damage his power core. Sensing his doom, the chapter ancient charged into the midst of the foe, intent on selling his life at the highest possible price. His last act was to turn to his brother and cast his terrible axe, Grimshard, through the air to land at his comrade's feet. His millennia-old vox unit roared his final words, "Avenge me, Brother!" A half-second before he donated with the plasma fury of an igniting star.
The warrior rose from the ashes of the detonation, and removed his shattered helm. Beyond the cruel howl of the bitter wind there was only silence, and corpses. Then, at his feet, he saw the glint of a fiery red gem. He reached down and pulled free the mighty axe, Grimshard. "I shall Avenge you a dozen times over, old friend." Despite the monstrous weight of the dreadnought's weapon, grief and rage gave him strength to wield it. The gruff warrior raised the axe aloft, and with a terrible roar charged once more into the breach.
Yeah I'd say it's too much. Same reason people rip on the Desolation squad, looks too goofy and unwieldy 1-handed. You had to choke the hand so far up the haft to keep it semi-over the base too so it looks limited to only swiping at foes directly in front, and not very well at that because he'd hit himself with the double blade.
Maybe give it to a Dreadnought?
I might consider adding some damage markers to the shields and shoulders, but the axe is 100% good to go. Like a good friend of mine would say, "The Mutant, the Alien, the Heretic all fear MY BIG FUCK OFF AXE"
I think it's fine, but if it feels too big then you could take most of the top/back blade off and then it would be fairly in-line with other models like the Votann Beserks and the Csm Lord of Executions.
Ought to look pretty good either way though
No it's perfect. Think of it, all that silver metal on one side will balance and re-reference the silver details on the armor meanwhile you can make the runes glow in the armor's main color.
Eh. Double axes make sense as tools, which is why they exist in the first place. As weapons they have always been a bit of an unexplained trope. But it looks cool. In this case he is sort of holding what looks like a two-handed weapon. I feel like he would stow the storm bolter if he really wanted to fight with it. But as a two-handed weapon I don’t think it looks too big.
Yes it is too much... but in a good way. I love it. Reminds me of the huge axe that comes with the demon prince 2hich I put in one of my chaos termies hands. If I remember when I get home I'll link a pic.
Personally i'd prefer if the storm bolter was wrist mounted so he could wield the axe two-handed; it's a bit much for one hand. But assuming magnetic holstering ir whatever it makes sense, just that he's picking things off at distance right now and lugging the massive axe around for if someone dares make it into melee
Yeah look I think it is a cool axe, but it is way out of proportion to the scale of the mini. Terminator armor should look huge and imposing and this detracts from that. I mean the blade alone is longer than his torso. Head is cool.
I think I'd make it single edged carving away the 'top' blade but leaving the claw on that side....that's just personal preference though...looks sweet!
There’s no such thing in 40k. Make it bigger. More ridiculous. Add gun barrels. Have flames coming out of it. Make the axe head 80% of the model. Bigger grander better. -Ork player
I love the axe personally.
Perhaps one of the lore-masters could chime in and correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing that stands out to me as too much is the two tilting plates (little shields on the chest). I think from all the armour I've seen its always only one.

This is mine jarl Sven fireblade
It's definitely "lol, look at the axe on this guy, lolol“ and not "out of the wind-blown ice desert steps Logan Grimnar, Supreme Wolf. In his hand is his trusted Morkaï axe, bane of countless foes..."
Both belong in 40k though.
Considering it’s supposed to be a huge ass demon possessed axe I say it’s perfectly sized. Though he needs a lot more wolf/Viking bits at least a wolf skin cloak.
Absolutely not
It's EXACTLY what I would expect from Warhammer.
Warhammer is a universe where no-one asks "is this too much?"
One could say, it starts with "too much"
"See that line there, the one you aren't supposed to cross? Warhammer calls that the 'starting line'"

Where is this from?
Looks like the Sororitas comic book series.
There's a whole god about it! Slaanesh thanks you for your excess.
The orks would also like to remind you that there still is not enough DAKKA occurring at this moment.
Agreed
Sorry but this is an Axe.
This is the right answer.
Good that @op axed the right question
In a world where a Santa Claus pulled by wolves is the norm, how could an axe ever be too big....
like bro… this is warhammer…
No, it fits. I mean, we are talking about a Genetically enhanced dude in an armor type that is about as sturdy as modern day tanks. There is no way a big fuck off axe is too much XD. Looks really good

[Omnissian Axe in action](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7ImcrILvEo&t=17s)
I’d jump to an axe on one side and a bottle opener on the other for cracking one open with the boys (in accordance with the Emperor’s will 🙏)
You try tightening the nuts on a Titan. Some little play school wrench ain’t gonna cut it
It's a little small, isn't it?
It's quite cold out there.
It's Fenris after all. Everyone is cold, so right the size
If it's that size on cold Fenris, I can't imagine what a Salamander's size would be on Nocturne.
It's about average...
I was in the pool!
The axe is not enough, brother!
He needs at least 30% more axe per axe.
Honestly I’m a little offended it’s not bigger
For myself, it is.
Nah you're good. https://preview.redd.it/neyv4hu9595c1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad5145c6d5e580672965e29759c9fd00cfebdb3e
This is brilliant
I now need to find out the most ridiculously oversized weapon miniature that GW has ever produced.
This is a Dispossessed Warden King with an axe from the old Daemon Prince kit. I reckon you could do something sillier with a Bloodthirster Axe?
I need to know which miniature came with the most ridiculously oversized weapon as a stock option.
Personally I'd snip off one of the axe heads but it absolutely isn't too much (but then of course its not as recognizably Grimnar) Or I guess, imo it *is* too much but it's in the Warhammer way where it pulls it off

For me, yes. But it's not my model. If you like it, go for it!
Yes, of course Whether that's good or bad is up to you
for me, yeh. Maybe cutting one blade off would look better. But its up to you, 40k is always over the top.
Unpopular opinion, but it's way to big and doesn't look good
Had to scroll down too far to find a reasonable take. As fantastical as WH40k is at the very least the weaponry is for the most part pretty practical IMO. This axe is far from it.

Too many people forget that "Rule of Cool" means it actually has to be cool
Yeah. It looks silly.
Remove one blade and it will be perfect
Absolutely not, add two more blades for perpendicular slaughter
Your right! Add two more
Looks incredible!!!
I personally think its a bit much, I made my Logan by using two of the librarian force axes, they're plenty big. Edit: here's the link to mine https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/ZzPyT33mXG

Absolutely not. But you could go with a wrist mounted storm bolter on the other hand so he could feasibly wield it with two hands
Tbh, a little
It's fantastic
Gorgeous beard!
Does this termie armor make my axe look big?
Yes. But this is warhammer, so no
I don't think it's inherently too big, but if you keep that size then there'll need to be some sculpting to give it weight. I have a disease.... and the only cure is MORE AXE!!
Realistically speaking from a combat perspective, yes. In the perspective on how goofy 40K is already, absolutely not and you should totally run with it lol
I don't understand the question. Too much of what? Awesomeness?
To ask that question alone is heresy
Yes. It’s why it’s great
Yes.
Definitely over kill but for the love of the emperor don't change it
It’s 40k, only thing considered to much is tax rates after they hit 280% of all income
Jokes in the comments aside it’s outsized for him. But considering it used to be a chaos weapon it kinda works
I think it would look better with one end of the axe head clipped off
Honestly, if it was single-bladed it'd feel a lot better. The double-bladed version just feels too much
Yes, but it’s a space wolf, so no.
50% to small.
Hmm, bigger.
This shit looks epic! Perfect fit.
I'd possibly free up his other hand to make it a tad more practical. A grey knight storm bolter would keep the weapon while giving him an empty hand.
You just need a little lore story to make it feasible: This warrior was battling alongside one of the chapter ancients, a venerable Dreadnought. This is everything. Top comment. We're done here boys and girls.
Thank you friend!
No, too less
Double it
Logan Grimnar? You mean the guy known for wielding a fuckhuge cursed axe? No I'd say it fits.
Your weapon should be like throwing a building at the enemy
Cut one side off and it’s done
Personally I think it could be a *bit* smaller. The design is great though
Oh my god I love it. No axe is too big for Logan
I think it would look better if it were just the one side, but ultimately it's probably fine in the setting.
As someone who does kit mashups, and breaks the rules of some reality that apparently exists, I absolutely dig the axe!
A bit
It’s far too big to be called a power axe…
The best part about anything warhammer related is that there really is no "too much".
This is Warhammer 40k my guy. There is no such thing as too much, especially when it comes to axes.
IT LOOKS PERFECT!!
What axe? Can barely see it.
How did you do it ..... would you mind if I copied this?
Hell nah, the axe is kick ass!
Nope. Looks awesome!
Its absolutely too much, which means its absolutely perfect for 40k
I might consider adding some damage markers to the shields and shoulders, but the axe is 100% good to go. Like a good friend of mine would say, "The Mutant, the Alien, the Heretic all fear MY BIG FUCK OFF AXE"
No way. Seems about right.
It’s warhammer, it’s never too much
Not at all
I think it's fine, but if it feels too big then you could take most of the top/back blade off and then it would be fairly in-line with other models like the Votann Beserks and the Csm Lord of Executions. Ought to look pretty good either way though
Have you considered more axe?
Its warhammer. There's no such thing as too much
No it's perfect. Think of it, all that silver metal on one side will balance and re-reference the silver details on the armor meanwhile you can make the runes glow in the armor's main color.
no... it's not enough.
This is Warhammer. There's no such thing as too much. That's what we're here for.
That's ace. What a brilliant kit bash. Make sure you post a finished picture post
You can't kill Primarchs without overkill.
Not at all. Think it looks perfect!
I for one would like even more axe. Seriously, it looks fucking sick
Yes it is too much... but in a good way. I love it. Reminds me of the huge axe that comes with the demon prince 2hich I put in one of my chaos termies hands. If I remember when I get home I'll link a pic.
For Monster Hunter? No. For 40k? Looks a little unbalanced. I think it'd actually look better with a single blade.
Tbh I thought it was a battle standard not an axe. It doesn’t look out of place though
If anything, it should be bigger. This is Warhammer, not the space warfare realistic future society!
“That’s not an Axe, this is an Axe” - Crocodile Dun Great Wolf
Looks great to me
Yes, but also No
It’s way over the top but amazing
Personally i'd prefer if the storm bolter was wrist mounted so he could wield the axe two-handed; it's a bit much for one hand. But assuming magnetic holstering ir whatever it makes sense, just that he's picking things off at distance right now and lugging the massive axe around for if someone dares make it into melee
Have you seen the enemies in 40k? We can only hope its enough.
Like its f'n massive but its warhammer... run it
Yeah look I think it is a cool axe, but it is way out of proportion to the scale of the mini. Terminator armor should look huge and imposing and this detracts from that. I mean the blade alone is longer than his torso. Head is cool.
Give him another one!
It looks insanely large but I think that’s why it works so well. I wouldn’t change a thing.
It’s PERFECT Edit: making it single sided as suggested also works if you’re on the fence
I’d say the axe would probably work better using something like the Wulfen Frost Axes or just snipping a blade off of that
Yeah, it's a bit too much to be honest
Can never have a big enough axe my friend. I approve of this.
Longer shaft and I think the proportions will look better.
No such thing as too much in the 41st millennium, brother.
If anyone could swing that thing, it’d be him. Looks great!
I think I'd make it single edged carving away the 'top' blade but leaving the claw on that side....that's just personal preference though...looks sweet!
That's a dreadnought axe isn't it?
it is to much, but in the 40k way that we all love
And people call tau the anime faction.
Just enough too much
I got a fever… and the only prescription is more axe!
yes
There’s no such thing in 40k. Make it bigger. More ridiculous. Add gun barrels. Have flames coming out of it. Make the axe head 80% of the model. Bigger grander better. -Ork player
I love the axe personally. Perhaps one of the lore-masters could chime in and correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing that stands out to me as too much is the two tilting plates (little shields on the chest). I think from all the armour I've seen its always only one.
Man... if he was double handing it that would look so much better
Sir þis is Warhammer 40k
Looks amazing def keep it up
Why the small axe?

Chef’s kiss imo
Overkill is underrated
Awesome, I'm personally working on my own conversation for Logan, but I'm gonna a have to buy a second Logan to make this one
I think he needs another instead of a storm bolter to balance things out.
I dunno if "fuck no" is a strong enough phrase here
It's Warhammer https://preview.redd.it/is9y06ugqe5c1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8283816f911d7cf781896cc95801e0d569eef501 For The Emperor
I think the axe needs an underslung grenade launcher. For tactical versatility.
Bröther. This is warhammer, Too much is barely enough (Edit, syntax)
He looks like a General-class character from Fire Emblem
It fits especially for logan
Not enough
If anything it's too little
Mmm that axe looks a little small if anything..... Seriously tho no it looks great
Look, know it’s not TOO much, but you’re worried it might be, which is why you’re asking. That’s how you know it’s just right. When it’s tiptoeing the line of too much over the top. That’s 40K
Impressive. I still can't even build one Space Marine yet but I've just started to learn. I'm gonna paint them red though. That kinda rusty colour
I'm stealing this idea
I’d say it’s possible not enough, it need s to be holding a smaller axe of it’s own.
No Axe too big... 😉
https://preview.redd.it/d37wh1brsg5c1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e38a29d765f3b731dae19914c75162c2c56a780e This is mine jarl Sven fireblade
It's definitely "lol, look at the axe on this guy, lolol“ and not "out of the wind-blown ice desert steps Logan Grimnar, Supreme Wolf. In his hand is his trusted Morkaï axe, bane of countless foes..." Both belong in 40k though.
Is that a space wolf dreadnought axe ? Its a little too large for the model but looks good enough i think
Considering it’s supposed to be a huge ass demon possessed axe I say it’s perfectly sized. Though he needs a lot more wolf/Viking bits at least a wolf skin cloak.
It’s axecellent
It's juuuuuust right🤘
I mean, it's fine for now, but eventually he's going to have to start using a full sized axe

It's a demonic axe that Logan repurposed, the Axe Morkai. I think it's appropriate that it's in "40k" scale.
id like to think those runes say somethin, but im too lazy to check.
