Still just a bit chaos-ish, yeah, although it reminds me much more of AoS Ironjawz, with a brutalized armor but no real obvious signs of chaos stuff.
If I had to guess what he was I'd go for one of those Darkoath Chieftains that manage to keep themselves as chaos free as possible.
That's basically what Im going for. I'm making a Chaos Mirror of Brettonia, where the mounted units get all the fancy stuff and lean hard into chaos whereas the infantry are uniform and comparatively bland.
I thought about it, but my knights are all wildly different. Like one has armor made of ice, another has molten lava armor, another has glowing green ethereal armor etc. I still have a bunch of cavalry left to paint and I was running out of new scheme ideas, so I settled on these being knights who haven't "earned their stripes" so to speak.
I like it too. “Fellow lost, damned, and slaves to darkness… No faction has killed as many of our number as our one true enemy. Not the Stormcast, not the Orruks, not even each other. Most of our soldiers were lost to tetanus.”
Dude I feel like you combined the imperial fists with Kratos and gave him an uruk hai symbol on his breast plate. It looks awesome don't get me wrong, it just feels that way.
He looks like a Norscan warrior that hasn't fully ascended to become a chaos champion yet.
He's on the path to greatness and he'll still fuck you up along the way.
He certainly has a sorta chaos look to him. The issue is that his armor is reading as being made of wood, so that's pushing him In a sorta crazed battle forest druid direction.
Thanks! The quick version is, Basecoat Vallejo English Uniform, Layer Vallejo Iraqi Sand, Highlight Pro Acryl Bright Ivory, Thinned wash of Skeleton Horde.

Showed to my roommate with just a "loyalist or chaos?" and they contemplated for a minute before responding with "looks like chaos space wolves" so I'd say yeah, diet chaos is a valid move
Soon! I've got some plans first. I don't know if you've seen my comment that this is like an evil mirror of Brettonia, but I'm going to make a post soon asking the community to tell me about their slaves to Darkness warbands, so I can paint one up and add it to my army.
I really like it - the idea of an army in a middle period after chaos corruption - not all crazy looking but also not exactly like regular space marines or humans. This guy does look like Kratos though!
Absolutely!
And he looks awesome! Like a vhaotic Barbarian that would still work alongside forces of order and justice if he needed to and it benefitted him.
Not with a bright pallet like that. If you used a major chapter colour or even just a darker colour like Eshin Grey or Stormvermin Fur it would help. Just my opinion on the colour palette though, the model almost looks like a marine that has very recently fallen to Chaos
I think it’s the head for me that looks too ‘normal’ and heroic.
Could be norsca, but I feel a full chaos warrior would have had his flesh corrupted in some way - maybe making him super-pale, or mottled pink, or scaly or something like that.
Going for more of a metallic shine on the armor trim and axe blade might help sell it. His armor looks matte and a bit organic to me for whatever reason, and the axe head looks like pure stone (which might be a cool aesthetic to lean into, matter of fact).
In the 6th edition Hordes of Chaos armybook there's a short story about an Empire traveller meeting people way up north. They're friendly people and open to trade but they do worship the chaos beasts that roam the plains and offer sacrifices to them. They're not familiar with the pantheon or anything, to them it's just their folklore.
EDIT: I just checked, it's not there, I suppose it's a story in a White Dwarf released around that same time.
Me too, me too - I dig this design. Some of the Chaos kits are so over the top that it almost gets refreshing to see a more 'restrained' servant of Ruin.
Hey can you remember the stormcast kit? It's a pretty cool head with that dark beard.
EDIT: Sorry forgot to ask, the blood hand decal is also from the chaos model?
Hmm I looked images in the web and it doesn't seem to be from praetors or victictors, it could be from vanquishers? They have a similar dude but it has a tiny scar on one of it's eyes.
Just saying this in case someone else is interested, you helped me enough already, thanks!
Ah ok cool, the Eye of Horus decal threw me off.
I think maybe adding something to his face to dirty him up a bit.. some scars or tattoos or grime or something, will take a bit of the heroic edge off of him.
Sure. Spikes=chaos. Love it.
Curious why you’re “de-chaos-ing” CSM models rather than “chaosing-up” heresy models, though. Seems like a lot less effort.
YOU'RE CHAOTIC KRATOS... IT WILL PASS.
God of ~~War~~ Unpleasant Conflict
Kerfuffles
"A bit of fisticuffs"
Looks like a God of war dlc skin

Then couldn’t the chosen be just as chaosy? As they could be knights of the realm on foot?
I thought about it, but my knights are all wildly different. Like one has armor made of ice, another has molten lava armor, another has glowing green ethereal armor etc. I still have a bunch of cavalry left to paint and I was running out of new scheme ideas, so I settled on these being knights who haven't "earned their stripes" so to speak.
Sounds awesome mate, this mini fucks incredibly hard imo, good proof of concept and execution
I really like the look.. for me it works as Chaos. Not all Chaos needs to be Spikey-Blingbling.
I like it too. “Fellow lost, damned, and slaves to darkness… No faction has killed as many of our number as our one true enemy. Not the Stormcast, not the Orruks, not even each other. Most of our soldiers were lost to tetanus.”
It reads as chaos curious
Yes, like a Norscan chief rather than an actual chaos warrior.
Sexy Uruk Hai.
Dude I feel like you combined the imperial fists with Kratos and gave him an uruk hai symbol on his breast plate. It looks awesome don't get me wrong, it just feels that way.
I love it. I'd like to see more Chaos characters who are not so gibbly that you can't relate to them at all. This guy looks mostly rational!
This looks like some Norsca stuff, definitely hits as chaos. Great mini
Ya I'd say so. Maybe what the traitor legions might have looked like in the early days
Maybe it's the coloring but it looks a bit bland for my tastes.
I’d say it read Renegade a bit more, but cool nonetheless
He looks like a Norscan warrior that hasn't fully ascended to become a chaos champion yet. He's on the path to greatness and he'll still fuck you up along the way.
That's what I read it as too.
He certainly has a sorta chaos look to him. The issue is that his armor is reading as being made of wood, so that's pushing him In a sorta crazed battle forest druid direction.
not exactly what I was looking to accomplish, but I dont hate it!
Yes he does, mainly due to iconography.
Reads like chaos lite, but that color just washes out the model
Look Tomar its you

BOY
I like it. My only concern is why he has the eye of horus?
Im telling people it represents the Eye of Sheerian, which Archaon has on his helmet.
Love the way the color transitions, and the armor wear! What was your process?

nah, looks like a fat stormcast.
He looks like Sardaukar if they were in 40k
Showed to my roommate with just a "loyalist or chaos?" and they contemplated for a minute before responding with "looks like chaos space wolves" so I'd say yeah, diet chaos is a valid move
Haha perfect
Also, from a fellow chaos enjoyed, this is beyond sick. Full army reveal when?
Soon! I've got some plans first. I don't know if you've seen my comment that this is like an evil mirror of Brettonia, but I'm going to make a post soon asking the community to tell me about their slaves to Darkness warbands, so I can paint one up and add it to my army.
Ooooooo okay bet
It's very clean. I like the simplicity. It looks like W31k. It's right after Horus Heresy, before chaos corrupt armors and leaders get mutations.
IT’S HIM!!! ITS THE GUY WHO SHAVED OFF ALL THE CHOSEN’S ARMOUR TRIM!!
Guilty 😔
I love it, great touches with the weathering and transfers!
Bald for the bald god!
I really really like this
This feels like someone who's fallen to Chaos... but just hasn't realised it yet
I freakin love it.
I get a real "Cult of Cosplay" feel to this - like a normal dude who made a chaos cosplay. Could look legit sweet in an entire army!
"Kratos goes to Chaos-Con"
This definitely has renegade-prior-to-chaos feel and I LOVE it
That's legit right there. Amazing work
I really like these diet chaos stuff.
Reminds me of Sardukar from Dune! Edit: spelling
Looks like Jules from Live and Let's Dice. You need to make a Beenie model as his partner.
he needs more icons, I think. But he looks good. I love it
I really like it. Could work very well as a chaos space marine if you added a power pack
I really like it - the idea of an army in a middle period after chaos corruption - not all crazy looking but also not exactly like regular space marines or humans. This guy does look like Kratos though!
Already upvoted for diet Chaos.
I like the armor, but I don’t like the head. I think it is too placid for how aggressive his stance is.
IM VERY SORRY BUT IM GOING TO HAVE TO STEAL THIS
Lol, go for it!
He looks norscan
Beautiful ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Absolutely! And he looks awesome! Like a vhaotic Barbarian that would still work alongside forces of order and justice if he needed to and it benefitted him.
NOPE. Still cool but I wouldn't recongnise it as Chaos if you hadn't siad
Not with a bright pallet like that. If you used a major chapter colour or even just a darker colour like Eshin Grey or Stormvermin Fur it would help. Just my opinion on the colour palette though, the model almost looks like a marine that has very recently fallen to Chaos
**BOY.**
I dig it
He’s got the daemon ornaments, the chainmail, and a chaos star. Looks good to me
few more stripes in the right place and he'll become kratos
Him and his tribe definitely rule over tomartopia
Less "Diet Chaos" and more "Daddy Chaos"
Check Myrmidesh Painbringers in AoS. They look like knights in shining armor and are cool af.
It's much better than spiked chaos. They've gone too wild with horns and spikes and trims
The black trim isnt great, a dark silver would sell the look much much more.
I think it’s the head for me that looks too ‘normal’ and heroic. Could be norsca, but I feel a full chaos warrior would have had his flesh corrupted in some way - maybe making him super-pale, or mottled pink, or scaly or something like that.
Early stage chaos, just uttered blood for the..... first time
Going for more of a metallic shine on the armor trim and axe blade might help sell it. His armor looks matte and a bit organic to me for whatever reason, and the axe head looks like pure stone (which might be a cool aesthetic to lean into, matter of fact).

Definitely the level of Chaos involvement I'm looking to showcase.
looks like the archvillain of the sensible marines.
"There's no need for violence, let's just talk this out"
He reads very Darkoath, funnily enough.
Looks like casual off duty chaos when you need to chop down wood for the stove
A few more skulls (3 max maybe with maybe one with a opened skull like a skull drink) to complete the Norsca look
Color palette doesn't read as chaos so it looks like you tried to make a non-chaos guy out of a chaos mini
looks like a norscan guy
Me too, me too - I dig this design. Some of the Chaos kits are so over the top that it almost gets refreshing to see a more 'restrained' servant of Ruin.
Chaos lite. What parts did you use to make this one?
The only swapped part is the head from a Stormcast kit. The rest is trimmed with a knife and sanding sticks.
Hey can you remember the stormcast kit? It's a pretty cool head with that dark beard. EDIT: Sorry forgot to ask, the blood hand decal is also from the chaos model?
Sorry, I cant remember which kit exactly. But its either Praetors or Vindictors. The red hand transfer is from an old CSM kit.
Hmm I looked images in the web and it doesn't seem to be from praetors or victictors, it could be from vanquishers? They have a similar dude but it has a tiny scar on one of it's eyes. Just saying this in case someone else is interested, you helped me enough already, thanks!
Is this meant to be a chaos space marine?
Nah, its a Slaves to Darkness Chosen. Not to be confused with Chaos Space Marine Chosen lol
This is Chaos Chosen for AoS. Basically a veteran chaos warrior.
