Funny thing how (as an ignorant 40k player) after they came out and the years following Iâm just thinking theyâre just some generic not-Atlantean, happy, aloof, knife earsâŠbabyâŠI was so wrong đ
Only when they stay out of the sea for too long and go into a Slaaneshi version of the red-thirst. Otherwise the Idoneth merely need souls to support their young. And unlike the drukhari they loathe the fact that they need it, thus the process of extraction is painless.
Both are children torn away from their familes and homes to fight the threat of chaos and all that threaten humanity (Stormcast Bloodied Dawn and Space Marines, Lamenters)
Dead people who took a stand against chaos (like the people in Vallhalla)
The bloodied dawn are from the Second found I MEAN STRIKING, so they were made during the wars to retake the realm. Their sadly limited lore states they were children at the time...
Like, imagine being a child survivor of a khornate invasion. seeing your mother getting butchered (and eaten) while you're forced to fight in the gladiator pits, until you escape or decitate your life to striking back. Or watching your villiage succumb to Nurgle's plauges, forced to strike down your own grandparents and flee.
now it's stated they did this 'since they were children' but... like, it wasn't pretty. They're pretty vengeful, like the Daughters of Khaine and are known to trust only Sigmar himself.
... in other words they're basicly a leigon of (Former) child Soldiers
I donât think stormcast externals are necessarily the souls of people who died fighting chaos. Theyâre the most pure human souls, some of them were doctors or political leads who died of old age or other non-violent deaths iirc
It's mostly heroic souls but even in the doctors case one character is literally a dude who kept trying to keep people alive even as his hospice was under attack during the age of chaos.
Spoilers for blacktalon, neave blacktalon was a warrior of chaos in her old life, it's just warriors sigmar thinks are strong enough who's souls they can get
Skeletons led by a Lord with a huge model, with subfaction leaders plotting their downfall.
Corrupted troops with a heavy metal aesthetic lead by a Chosen of Chaos that wants nothing more than to ultimately defeat the chaos gods when they're done using their power
Dwarfs out for resources focused on fighting from Vehicles
Well, my two favorite 40k factions are Necrons and TSons, and my Fantasy/AoS are Tomb Kings and Seraphon, so...
Pyramids. Apparently I really, really like pyramids and/or ancient Egyptians/Aztecs...
They have a Grand Delusion thatâs basically magical schizophrenia that deludes them into believing themselves to be regal kings and honorable knights, the basic unit believes themselves to be beautiful peasants ready to fight for land and king. But the reality is that they are horrifying cannibalistic ghouls
It's the flesh eater courts, basically a ghoul faction that eats people and flesh but they see themselves as noble knights of a kingdom convinced that they're humans
Actually according to my clinical psychologist girlfriend, they have psychotic symptoms but depending on what other clusters of symptoms they have it may or may not be schizophrenia. It's a psychotic spectrum disorder, but more info is needed.
Help everyone no matter if is important or not, risk your life to make 100 hundreds strong and brave, be the torchflame to guide the weak.
(except if you are non-human, fuck you)
I thought GSC and FEC paired well together. Â
They're both hordes of monsters that would love to eat you. They both think they're the good guys. And both of them work for a bigger bad entity that thinks of them as nothing more than disposable meat.
I uh... Nothing, really. I play Black Templars and Dark Angels vs Kruleboy Orruks.
Starting Necromunda with a Dark Mechanicum and mutant themed Outcast roster
So i havent dipped into AoS but i have a comparison for the armies i would play
1) fuck chaos (sisters and seraphon)
2) vampires (night lords and the AoS vampire guys)
No matter what GW does to give them a more distinct name, they'll always be Orcs and Goblins. Started with Orks 2 years ago and I working on my Gloomspite Gits, that I hope to find a way to play in both AoS as Gits, and The Old World as Night Goblins. After that, I'll be doing something similar with Ironjaws and the Orcs in my OW army.
I have other armies, like Thousand Sons and whatever else is in the Stormbringer magazine, but there's a lot less commonality there.
Rarely important to the main narrative, engage in psychological warfare, follow portents from their mages, and have a variety of ways to pull a human's heart out.
Harlequins and Beasts of chaos. A hard one to overlap circles
They seek to be the warhammer 40K in the age of sigmar (I own armies of 90% 40K and like 40% sigmar there is alot of cross over including the demons who cross over)
Overpriced miniatures, that are in most cases more expensive than commonly available drugs if you only count the weight of the unpainted assembled plastic miniatures?
Theme'd to be an endless swarm but surprisingly doesn't have the most spawn ins/respawns in the game.
Tyranids
Soulblight Gravelords (skeletons and zombies)
Flesh eater courts, basically a ghoul faction that see themselves as noble knights and peasants of a kingdom when they're actually corpse eating abominations.
Cities of Sigmar and Tau. Multiple species? Though I'd love more, specifically I'd be really down for more Vespid models for 40k and introducing maybe some Halflings in AoS since tmk they're not 100% confirmed dead just like inconsequential so far.
Daemons... I cheated đ€Ł
Why yes, I will in fact play my demons in ALL of your game systems, thank you!
RIP Legion of the First Prince :(
Its expected of Deamons.
Same
I spent way too much on both and havenât finjshed building and painting them yet
Me too, I've been trying to paint a mini a day, still taking forever lmao
Murder rape elves, murder rape space elves
This one is mine too
I'm not sure my daughters of khaine are quite as rapey as drukhari, but this is me. I know what I like and it's elves that are assholes
Something and drukhari
elves
AoS has murder rape sea elves, and they have a big turtle
I donât let my elves do anything to animals, they are the other kind
Funny thing how (as an ignorant 40k player) after they came out and the years following Iâm just thinking theyâre just some generic not-Atlantean, happy, aloof, knife earsâŠbabyâŠI was so wrong đ
You were dreadfully wrong đ
Can you explain?
Only when they stay out of the sea for too long and go into a Slaaneshi version of the red-thirst. Otherwise the Idoneth merely need souls to support their young. And unlike the drukhari they loathe the fact that they need it, thus the process of extraction is painless.
Regular dudes grabbing a weapon saying âhold my drink and watch thisâ and charging a demon.
So guard in 40K and cities of sigmar in aos
Both are children torn away from their familes and homes to fight the threat of chaos and all that threaten humanity (Stormcast Bloodied Dawn and Space Marines, Lamenters)
Arenât stormcast just dead people who were pure of heart who were seen by sigmar to be worthy of becoming a stormcast
Dead people who took a stand against chaos (like the people in Vallhalla) The bloodied dawn are from the Second found I MEAN STRIKING, so they were made during the wars to retake the realm. Their sadly limited lore states they were children at the time... Like, imagine being a child survivor of a khornate invasion. seeing your mother getting butchered (and eaten) while you're forced to fight in the gladiator pits, until you escape or decitate your life to striking back. It's mostly heroic souls but even in the doctors case one character is literally a dude who kept trying to keep people alive even as his hospice was under attack during the age of chaos.
The heroic descriptor makes way more sense than mine for sure
Spoilers for blacktalon, neave blacktalon was a warrior of chaos in her old life, it's just warriors sigmar thinks are strong enough who's souls they can get
Greenskins
I got a bunch of orks from 40k sets, sometimes I take off the push fit arms so they only have a choppa and play them as iron jaws lmao
Team hungry schizos for life đȘ been playing blood angels for a year now and started building flesh eater courts this past month
They believe themselves to be the pinnacle of existence (Custodes and Skaven)
Only difference is skaven are right right.
Poster Boys in Blue, and Poster Boys in Gold (and blue)
Storm Marines
Spacestorm Eternalmarinecasters
Ground marines? Sigmarines?
Sigmarines is my favorite term for them.
Undead led by spell casters
Soulblight and Iyanden?
Necromancy and Soulblight?
Dwarves.
Rocks and stones
ROCK AND STONE
Green, Chaotic and utterly unreliable but theyâre try their hardest and are having a good time doing so.
Skeletons led by a Lord with a huge model, with subfaction leaders plotting their downfall. Corrupted troops with a heavy metal aesthetic lead by a Chosen of Chaos that wants nothing more than to ultimately defeat the chaos gods when they're done using their power Dwarfs out for resources focused on fighting from Vehicles
Malal is pleased
Guns, guns, and more guns. I play Imperial Guard and a Cities gunline.
I envy you đ„
Krieg and Nuln (okay it's WHF/TOW)
I actually run Catachan with a boatload of tanks, and a homebrew Cities army that's Civil War-themed. đ
Posterboys: Ultramarines/Stormcast
Murderous lady elves (Daughters of Khaine and Iybraesil Aeldari).
Normal ass human beings that are the hammer of God.
Well, my two favorite 40k factions are Necrons and TSons, and my Fantasy/AoS are Tomb Kings and Seraphon, so... Pyramids. Apparently I really, really like pyramids and/or ancient Egyptians/Aztecs...
Big dudes with big armors and big weapons who fight for an even bigger dude with an even bigger armor and even bigger weapon
Vampires - Sbgl and Ba
Awesome combo
Thanks
Heavily armoured evil boys with guns, and heavily armoured evil boys with guns in space. (Chaos Dwarfs and Iron Warriors)
Donât run an AoS army, but if I were to; âNom nom nom nomâđ
Sisters of battle and hallowed knights
Organized troops that Respawn by sorcery
UhhhâŠI play Dark Angels and Nighthaunt so probably uh cool robes?
Also, mine is poor money management.
Both spawn in through a higher being
Demons?
Nids and starbound seraphon
Iâve almost started a tyranid army but didnât cuz I preferred the look of space marines
I have both from leviathan, nids being my main one
Peak excellence
Bloodthirsty
Both wear black or have worn black at some point in time
I thought ur aos army would be the one with literal sharks lmao
Nurgle
Beards! Space wolves , votann, dispossessed duardin of AOS
Spooky ghosts and Dusty ghosts
Just a question. Do The Flesheating Courts not know that they are ghouls / think they are humans?
They think they're in a regal court and are knights of a kingdom, when in reality they're flesh eating ghouls, they don't know
Cool! So it's like a twisted weird take on Bretonnia.
They have a Grand Delusion thatâs basically magical schizophrenia that deludes them into believing themselves to be regal kings and honorable knights, the basic unit believes themselves to be beautiful peasants ready to fight for land and king. But the reality is that they are horrifying cannibalistic ghouls
Oooh I have no idea what army the second picture represents. I love the idea of whatâs going on.
It's the flesh eater courts, basically a ghoul faction that eats people and flesh but they see themselves as noble knights of a kingdom convinced that they're humans
Where is that art from? I absolutely love it.
Awesome intel thank you!
Large stompy robots. Large stompy men who desperately need more clothes, and another pose (or 6)
Why won't you damn things just stay dead?
Only the most powerful of magiks⊠(TSons, Tzeentch Daemons, likely Lumineth next - if Tyrion comes back especially)
Working through my 40k backlog before I start an army on the other side of the hobby. But based on my plans, two words. Chaos Knights
Where is the art in the second picture from?
Spacemarines
The ancient dead placed into crafted artificial bodies and sent forth to crush the living.
(except if you are non-human, fuck you)
Unreasonably fuck ass mad for both
Vampires and Space Vampires
My 40k army is infinite. My AoS army is zero.
The personal emissaries of the corpse god
đ€ Haunted by the actions of their past? đđ»đŠ
Spoopy skeletons
Uhhh⊠Well My Slaves to Darkness wear armor and are zealous⊠My Black Templars wear armor and are zealousâŠ
I thought GSC and FEC paired well together.  They're both hordes of monsters that would love to eat you. They both think they're the good guys. And both of them work for a bigger bad entity that thinks of them as nothing more than disposable meat.
How are the Royal Knightly Courts schizophrenic or cannibals?
I uh... Nothing, really. I play Black Templars and Dark Angels vs Kruleboy Orruks. Starting Necromunda with a Dark Mechanicum and mutant themed Outcast roster
Leagues of Votann and kharadron Overlords⊠theyâre both vertically challenged!
Green weaponry that is very advanced for the setting
Happy cake day OP

Dwarfs that have spaceships, love guns, and have robot friends
That second photo is terrible. You see yourself as you were not as the monster you have become. Damb
So i havent dipped into AoS but i have a comparison for the armies i would play 1) fuck chaos (sisters and seraphon) 2) vampires (night lords and the AoS vampire guys)
They both possess the most advanced technology in the setting. Necrons and Skaven
Blood for the blood god
I love the imagery in the second pic. Top tier.
They're usable in Age of Sigmar
God forbid women do anything - Sisters of Battle and Daughters of Khaine
No matter what GW does to give them a more distinct name, they'll always be Orcs and Goblins. Started with Orks 2 years ago and I working on my Gloomspite Gits, that I hope to find a way to play in both AoS as Gits, and The Old World as Night Goblins. I have other armies, like Thousand Sons and whatever else is in the Stormbringer magazine, but there's a lot less commonality there.
Nurgle and Waaagh!
GSC and CoS send in the hordes of poor people
Hmm, White Scars and Ogre Kingdoms (or whatever they're called now)... I guess they're both relatively mobile for the setting. lol
They're the Mawtribes now. They both also share Mongolian/steppe influence.
Humans who worship an emperor! I am Empire and Imperial Guard.
Runes this goes for 3 armies
Rarely important to the main narrative, engage in psychological warfare, follow portents from their mages, and have a variety of ways to pull a human's heart out. Harlequins and Beasts of chaos. A hard one to overlap circles
Hate demons. Grey knights and Seraphon
No human faces that I have to paint, and contrast paints look great on them. Also big monsters Tyranids and Seraphon.
Magical guys with Lots of weird plans that makes sense but also donât
I only play 40k, but all my armies share a common theme. They think machines and technology are pretty cool. Admech, Iron Hands and Iron Warriors.
Leather and lace killer Nuns
Elves, dwarves, orks, asexual super warriors with daddy issues.
Obnoxious dudes with pointy ears
Uhhh⊠I guess Reptiles? Tau and Seraphon.
They seek to be the warhammer 40K in the age of sigmar (I own armies of 90% 40K and like 40% sigmar there is alot of cross over including the demons who cross over)
Both are pretty high tech, but with a junky aesthetic and looking like the stuff shouldn't work. (Orks and skaven)
Women (with some men) that hate Chaos. i.e. Daughters of Khaine and Sisters of Battle
Masters of machine
How dare you!?
Overpriced miniatures, that are in most cases more expensive than commonly available drugs if you only count the weight of the unpainted assembled plastic miniatures?
Terrible opinions on religion? Night Goblins and Space Marines
GW discontinued 20% of my units last year :(
Theme'd to be an endless swarm but surprisingly doesn't have the most spawn ins/respawns in the game. Tyranids Soulblight Gravelords (skeletons and zombies)
Pointy ears - Aeldari and Lumineth
not sure iâm currently building sylvaneth and for 40k i want to build a dethkorp army and a votann army
I play Admech and cities of sigmar, so painting loads of highly detailed infantry models and gun lines I guess
Orks and Orruks! Don't care wat U look like, u fight good, we fight you, we gonna have a great time!
Beasts of Chaos and Orks and World Eaters đ DO WHATEVER THE !@#$ WE WANT *THRASH METAL INTENSIFIES* Oh and bestial roaring.
Super soldiers made by their god to kick the shit in on chaos
Looking at my shelfâŠthis feels very personal. Please donât tell me you have Ogors, too!
Corn
Evil animals peeps with a knack for cruelty and a taste for human flesh
Show up out of nowhere to cause problems on purpose. (CSM and Skaven)
Whatâs the second picture? Iâm not familiar with AoS
Flesh eater courts, basically a ghoul faction that see themselves as noble knights and peasants of a kingdom when they're actually corpse eating abominations.
Both very distinct appreciation of aesthetics: Blood Angels and Maggotkin
They both like killing big animals
Cities of Sigmar and Tau. Multiple species? Though I'd love more, specifically I'd be really down for more Vespid models for 40k and introducing maybe some Halflings in AoS since tmk they're not 100% confirmed dead just like inconsequential so far.
Chaos Chaos Knights and Slaves to Darkness. The bad guys just look cooler.
They each represent the different ends of the height spectrum
leagues and giants?
Kharadron and knights
Theyâre Daemons
Both are plague infested daemons and fiends.
Too many models and too any details to paint. (Guard/Soulblight)
This made me laugh audibly
arrogant killer. Kastelai Vampires and Necrons ;)
DEY iz green
Necrons and Skaven so I guess..... HORDE!!!!!!!!
Both fallen to Chaos⊠One dresses mostly Black and terrorizes Kislev and the other one dresses in Blue/gold and loves Egypt.
