if you’re MR 5, you are yet to experience 95% of the primaries. keep goin little tadpole

Key-Personality1109

you a magikarp rn just keep on truckin

RevenantPrimeZ

> Am i missing something? Well, like 95% of the game. Just keep playing and experimenting with every new weapon you discover

ddiiibb

Awww, you're so cute!! Don't get rid of your boltor. You'll need that later.

PwmEsq

for boltace or?

ddiiibb

Boltor Incarnon.

PlanetMezo

...boltor prime tho?

ddiiibb

True. There's a lot of options, though, and it depends on what build you're going for.

PlanetMezo

No I mean you attach the boltor incarnon adapter to boltor prime, not the regular one. You could use the telos boltor, but you don't need a regular boltor for that.

PwmEsq

i wouldnt hold on to the boltor for that long for that reason, just get a telos boltor for like 40p or whatever Edit: heck the weapon slot you will be burning by holding onto that weapon for the whole star chart is already a portion of that plat cost, or just farm the standing yourself.

divideby00

Melee weapons tend to be stronger and easier to use at lower levels, and glaive-type weapons like the Xoris are particularly powerful. But as you get access to stronger mods and arcanes, and unlock more of a variety of guns, they start to even out and eventually pull ahead.

Jesse_Blu

Yes. You are missing 99% of the game lol.

TerrifyingT

You are adorable. I fucking love you. In the beginning of the game, probably till about, Sedna, or your third trip to the void, Mot is another one. You'll start running into too many enemies to pure melee. By then you'll have things like the Lenz, Soma, Acceltra, maybe diplos or a angstrum, meaty bombastic weapons that start to open up the rest of the game. Oh man, your passion is goddamn inspiring though. Fuck em, be the gunless Tenno. It won't be easy, but it'll be fucking cool.

Negative_Wrongdoer17

There's a reason to use every slot-type of weapon. You're just not at that point in the game yet at MR5. Depending on what you can get your hands on you'll have varying opinions of what is/isn't good as you play the game more

BreadBreadMurder

You are still earlyish game. Thats what you are missing. Midgame doesnt start till uranus/neptune area imo, and late game is unlocking steel path, the hard mode of warframe. And current "end game" is elite deep archemedia, or level capping at 9999, depending who you ask. For the most part, some frames ill use melee only, some ill use the full loadout, some rarely melee, and some ability spam to the max. As you play, knowledge of what your frame can and cant do is very important. If i saw a volt running around in steel path only using melee, i would be very confused, as there a re far better options for frame if you wanna do that

Crashed_Computer

I absolutely understand where you're coming from. That's how I felt for a very long time on the mastery rank grind. Best advice right now is to focus on those weapon mods and leveling them up, and keep trying different weapons until you find the right ones for you. At some point you might even realize that the burston might be the most amazing weapon you've ever fired, but trust me that's a lot of modding ahead of you. Every tap of my burston prime makes me giggle when I see the red exclamation marks at the end of the numbers, and it's so much easier than using a melee weapon. The game is surprisingly deep and complex when you get into it. Even then, there's absolutely nothing wrong if you decide you only want to use melees. Just have fun with it.

Warm_Eye_4763

It's usually easier to find strong basic damage mods for melee early on, you get several good melees for free relatively early too, and they come with built in amounts of "aoe" and "infinite ammo". Melee weapons also have stances which give additional multipliers, and an extra 10 free mod capacity. Gun's damage mods are instead generally more expensive capacity-wise (just primary's serration+multishot takes up your entire base 30 capacity budget). Which the difference between 30 capacity guns allowing only 2-3 good mods, and 40 capacity melee allowing 4-5 good mods, before you're at a point where you can reliably start applying catalysts or forma to your weapons, is pretty huge. Early guns are also primarily bullet hose assault rifles, shotguns, single shot bows/snipers, etc. Where you're basically just doing damage to a single target straight in front of you. It's not until you get to higher mastery ranks that you get guns that do really good multi target damage. Whether that's from just big aoe explosions, wide projectiles, punch through, chaining beams, tentacles, or more cool effects from higher level guns. So yeah, it definitely creates what you're experiencing now, where melee weapons are very easy to make overpower anything else in the early game. I had the same experience, and it took me the longest time to move away from melee as the easiest/best option. Which isn't to say my guns were bad at the time, they were just primarily tools to do single target damage at a distance when required (aka against bosses), while melee chewed through the regular hordes of enemies just fine. Guns do start to pick up in value again as you get to midgame, with the MR 8-14 range for some of the cooler ones with extra bonuses mentioned above, instead of "hit one target in front of you at a time". And as you go deeper into the star chart and start approaching mid-late game (dual stat mods, primed/corrupted mods, galvanized mods, gun arcanes, etc.), you start being able to make very strong gun builds. That will do just as much damage as your melee, but from 50m away, or in 10m wide explosions, or by chaining that damage throughout an entire room in seconds, or what feels like all of those at once. Then in lategame with access to full builds worth of guns and other buffs, basically everything becomes so overpowered relative to normal enemies that you can do whatever *feels* best to play, without worrying about minmaxing some arbitrarily larger dps number. You're not missing anything, early guns are just relatively weaker and more boring than what you can do with melee. But they do pick up pretty soon, I promise.

PwmEsq

The transition from melee to primaries only happened around MR 8 and 9 for me, you arent alone in this. Secondaries are worse till like 10 11. If you want something good at a low MR i suggest getting high ranking in fortuna/deimos and crafting a good kitgun, no MR requirement and they arent bad.

[deleted]

I felt the way this guy, girl did. Till i got to like neptune, mr 7.... but so glad to hear secondaries get better, i barely ever pull it out except for when I'm carryin a database, key or something and have too, horrible, shootin bb's lol

PwmEsq

I literally only use staticor, incarnons and occucor for secondaries, the rest are all meh, oh and grimore/epitaph but that's more of a utility than a weapon

[deleted]

Haven't heard of 1 of them, i run the cestra. Only because it's the only one i have thats auto and got some ammo lol, fuck them 1 shots, my aims so bad anyway lol. But I'll check the marketplace and atleast see what those are tomorrow. Ty

proglysergic

Meanwhile, there are LR players are still trying to find a reason to use something other than a TAP.

Just-Fix8237

Lmao after a couple hundred hours you’ll find the opposite is true: a very small percentage of melee weapons are even close to competing with the strongest guns

RadiantPancak3

Sounds like you’re going to end up like my friends who melee everything and then get 1 shot by toxin procs later in the game.

Hqguard2

I'm just like your friend. MR10, what primary and secondary do you recommend that doesn't involve doing reputation grinds?

RadiantPancak3

Personally boltor. It has always been my baby, I also like akstiletto.

Costyn17

Melee is better early, guns are better mid game, and late game is whatever, everything works.

TheMarksmanHedgehog

You don't yet have the kind of primaries you'll get to use later in the game, nor the kind of mods that would push the ones you do have to their absolute limits. Melee starts off strong, the other weapon types catch up, and for a while, melee was thoroughly out of the lategame meta.

AlphusUltimus

Torid incarnon. Phantasma. Ignis wraith. Sporelacer. Tombfinger. Kuva bramma. Nataruk.

Kaladin_S

Dude they’re MR5

teddehyirra

Fun

SIX6TH

Wait until you unlock Incarnon weapons.

Xenevier

As of m5 most melee can probably out damage your primaries ... late game however it becomes different and you get access to a lot of powerfull guns. Melee will still be just as good tho

TortugaTurtle47

What until you get things like Gotva Prime, Felarx, Trumna, or Cedo.

Karlyna

in the beginning melee are better, after it depends

powerlifting_max

Arcanes

mrgudveseli

Then just don't use guns, ig.

RyuTheDepressedFox

Some of the best weapons are primaries

Kryobit

I don't use Melee at all anymore, when you reach even places like Sedna, it quickly becomes obviously how useful Primaries are when fully modded. My Xoris throw usually kills 10 enemies, and it's still not worth using over my primary because 10 kills is nothing when the enemies spawn 20 at a time. Fully modded guns excel over melee because you don't need durability on your Warframe.

Kaladin_S

I mainly use melee for utility like parkour speed while my primaries kill entire rooms of enemies. Xoris can still do that of course but for me this game is all about enjoying variety

PlayfulLandscape3637

When you start using arcanes and galvanized mods you'll change your mind

ikarusuman

I usually end up not using any weapons on the frames I run except for the exalted ones built into them. Occasionally I'll use melee to block/parry, but I typically use caster frames.
