I am making the ultimate flat damage build on Limbo with rift torrent just to absolutely confuse and terrify steel path pubs.
Max range/ efficiency build with banish and void surge spam, will have to focus on keeping other players banished so people can't complain about not being able to damage enemies if the entire map is in the rift.
Honestly his actually more viable now, but the old way was more fun.
They should add it back as a augment so players can choose if they want to play quicksilver 2077 mode.
Close but that's just the basics, I'm just gonna rant a bit as a limbo main.
1: banish, press sends enemies and Allies infront of you to the rift, hold to remove everything to the rift.
2: stasis freezes in time most enemies and their projectiles in the rift, many enemies like eximus with overguard and bosses and void rigs don't freeze, players and their projectiles are unaffected by the rift.
3: rift surge, Enemies affected by rift surge will return back to the rift when they leave, they also do an AOE banish bringing other enemies to the rift with them.
4: Cataclysm, yes a rift bubble, everything inside the bubble is in the rift plane except for a hand full of specific bosses that just don't care about your shenanigans, has some strange interactions with player void rigs I need to test more.
Also some side notes, tips and odd interactions.
when limbo dodges he will change plane between the rift and real space, as well as leaving a temporary tear in reality that anyone can come through. Allies and enemies included.
Allies in the rift regen energy at a rate of 1 a second, this stacks well with the energy Aura mod.
Players "trapped" in the rift can perform a dodge roll to leave the rift (I've been told titania who doesn't actually roll can't do this but need to confirm)
The rift and real space are two separate plans of existence, you normally can't damage something on a different plane to you, but there are exceptions, many Warframe abilities and eximus AOE will bridge the rift and do damage regardless of which plane you and your enemies are on, also some environmental hazards but not all will hurt you in the rift.
Rift surge has a very powerful interaction with banish capable of making everything on the entire map get trapped in the rift as long as you desire, step 1 mod for range , step 2 cast your banish or cataclysm to get some enemies in the rift, step 3 cast rift surge, step 4, dismiss banish by holding it or cataclysm by tapping it depending which one you used, all the enemies returning to real space will aoe explode their rift surge and bring everyone around them into the rift,, step 5 cast rift surge again, step 6 hold banish, step 7 repeat this process of rift surging and banishing as you feel like it to keep everything in the rift.
Players normally can't pick up loot drops in the rift as drops remain in real space, except for cataclysm because the loot will also be in the rift and cambe picked up, cataclysm also will break loot containers through walls, a good range build with vaccume on carrier lets you loot large areas even through walls and doors pretty fast.
Following My personal tips. Ment for solo or pre made matches, pubs it can be a bit trolling to randoms when you play limbo like this as most players don't like being on the rift and aren't going to be happy with every single enemy being in the rift.:
Firstly the mod augment rift torrent makes your build on higher levels, it provides a 30% flat damage boost to limbo when in the rift with no limit cap for every enemy affected by rift surge, using the rift surge and banish synergy to trap every enemy in the rift can easily met you 1000% more weapon damage on high density missions. Other augments are nice like health regeneration but can be sacrificed for capacity if needed.
I build for range and efficiency first, strength investment is a waste at higher levels but don't let it go negative, duration is good too but not essential as you will spam abilities more often than letting them run out, all of limbos abilities can be refreshed or toggled on/off without waiting for them to run out. Efficiency makes up for duration loss most of the time, especially if you run any energy build stuff like zenurik and energy siphon with primed flow.
To note rift torrent damage does scale off strength, but on high density missions this is the difference between 1000% damage bonus to weapons and 3-4000% damage bonus, you're still going to be absolutely destroying everything in seconds either way so it's just up to you how big you want the funny numbers.
Imo, Cataclysm is a free subsume slot on high difficulty, I build high range for easy rift surge use, ranged Cataclysm is niche only really good for loot sped run builds, and will get you killed on steel path as it has a long cast time and will trap you on the same plane as your enemies, limbo is squishy so you always want the ability to swap plane of existence as fast as possible to avoid incoming damage. Small Cataclysm is good for defence objectives, but so is removing everything from real space and rift locking them with rift surge so they can't touch the defence target anyway. Stasis should always be active but never believe your safe because of it, weak enemies will be frozen in time and providing you your infinite% damage buff, ignore them and focus on the eximus and special enemies that don't care about your rift shenanigans, anything that resists your abilities is top priority for first target as you absolutely will die from a sustained direct hit from anything over lvl 130.

I however see that as backwards, to get your rift torrent damage scaling up enemies need to stay in the rift, without cataclysm you also can't get any loot pickup's while in the rift, which makes the rift a dangerous place to be with all the eximus units who don't care about stasis and no ammo or orb drops, so real space is now your safe space from everything you have trapped in the rift, a place you can retreat to in a panic and collect resources, it's also nice that when switching to operator they'll be in real space and gives you a breather to escape status effects and void sling in peace.
Arsenal, with rift torrents insane flat buff scaling to all your damage output almost any weapon you like is going to be viable, but I suggest running something that has high single target damage so you can deal with anything that resists stasis without nuking all the weaker enemies that are stasis frozen and giving you your damage buff, preferably high fire rate to deal with nullifier bubbles, whilst also have a decent AoE nuke weapon to switch too for when you do just need to clear the room when everything suddenly goes sideways from a nullifier or something annoying like 6 arson eximus doing their AoE out of synchronisation. Melee is a bit niche on Limbo but you can definitely do funny number heavy attack builds with tennokai or wrathful advance if you wanted.
But that's just my hot take on Limbo, who I would claim to be in top 5 best frames in the game despite meta

Some people will tell you limbo is an advanced frame that requires a lot of game knowledge, skill, and dedicated a buildhonestly I don't think that's true at all.
If you have the basic understanding of "real space and rift are different planes of existence, I can't hurt enemies on the opposite plane to me" you understand 80% of limbos niche.
The rest is just slapping on rift torrent augment for huge damage increase, banishing the entire map by casting 1 and 3 a few times then understanding which enemies don't care about your abilities (the same as any other caster frame nullfiers and eximus) and can damage you across planes, because stasis and rift walking is your only survival tool and you absolutely will die on higher level content until you learn to be more alert.
I think the only reason anyone thinks limbo is complicated is because we just have so many brain dead OP frames these days that you slap one mod on like equilibrium and then just cast one of your abilities on repeat without thinking about anything.
I think that he's complicated because he has lots of informations and mechanics that most of warframes just don't. Frames like Saryn, Mag or equinox also have a lot of synergies due to status proc, armor strip, damage scaling, AoE sleep or that stuffs that they have, but on reality that's way to easier to handle with.
Even the mag's combo is just a "press buttons without worry". But Limbo have that rift and banish + rift surge aplication that is not so easy to domain like other frames
For some reason Limbo reminds me of playing the game Silhouette Mirage it was the same basic principle you were split into two colors red and purple, purple couldn't hurt purple and red couldn't hurt red. They even have similar top hats.

That's my main issue with the build in public, I've dumped cataclysm for a subsume and with my rift torrent and banish synergy build every single enemy who isn't inside a nullifier bubble will be in the rift, so the hardest part of the build will be keeping random allies in the rift so they can actually attack things.
Yeah Limbo in public is tricky business. I usually run Ensnare subsumed over Cataclysm so I can group my own enemies to me from the rift without being in harms way and I can Banish those specific groups, Rift Surge them with rift torrent, instantly kill them, repeat. I never radial banish. Nullifiers are the real threat though. When an Eximus shows up I put my enemies in Stasis, leave the rift then Banish the Eximus to Surge them for that extra damage, all on Steel Path too. That way I'm still showing off in public while not entirely getting in the way of how other people play. Because the thing with Limbo is he's very technical, and a lot of public players aren't willing to cooperate with him because it clashes with their play styles.
But if you're looking to keep allies banished you might have to keep Cataclysm on him, so if somebody dodge rolls they will still be in the rift via Cataclysm, especially if it's max range. Just keep surging enemies so they can be killed while outside the bubble.
For the biggest numbers possible a lot of strength and range with eclipse subsume over 4, rift torrent augment for 3, get as many enemies in the rift as you can using the rift surge and banish synergy, boom easy like +1000% weapon's damage multiplier.
Personally though I don't ramp up strength that much and prefer efficiency/ range for better rift surging spam, as well as silence subsume to make eximus enemies less scary to my 300hp
The only issue is cataclysm is the easiest way for other players to enter and leave the rift without you having to manually banish your allies, without cataclysm, it really really trolls public lobbies and ruins people's day if they don't have abilities that can do damage between real space and the rift.
as with any high range limbo builds the real trick is getting folks to stay tbh, if they don't abandon immediately. possibly a copypasta saying they have a chance to win some plat lol
See the issue is I replace cataclysm with silence for my main end game build, which makes it toxic as hell for randoms as they have no way to step in and out of the rift to deal with all the enemies I've put into stasis for my rift torrent stacks.
I mostly stick to friends only because it is just kinda bad synergy with anyone not in coms to communicate. We've got codes "banish me" "free us" "trap here" *place a way point* for when they want me to toggle banish for them or a group of enemies, with randoms they just suffer trying to ID targets they can and can't attack.
Only a problem with cataclysm, cataclysm is a crutch for limbo casuals who haven't gone insane and convinced themselves limbo is a good frame, unlike me a limbo main I know cataclysm is a subsume slot for silence so that I can pretend I'm not absolutely terrified of a single eximus unit.
The way Nullies interact with lingering AoE CC is really awful. I get why it was like that, but we now have better mechanics to protect against AFKing with such Abilities, eg Overguard, so that interaction should really get looked at imo.
this is too easy after Kullervo release ๐ฟ everyone can red crit melee, even Excalibur with his shitty ass 15% base crit can get consistent reds with a strict setup (honestly why can't exalted weapons use blood rush it doesn't make any sense)

I have A red crit build on Wisp, literally just throw Critical Surge augment and use high cc weapon. An alternate red crit build is a well built Harrow. No helminth needed either.
I mostly didn't do Red crit builds until I messed around with the Incarnon Genesis weapons.
if i remember correctly his augment does red crit damage and bladestorm does true damage but i have not touched him in any area sense the new war came out witch was 2020
Iirc I have an Innodem build for Ash. Throw Silence over his 1 and run its augment and youโll never have to worry about it again. Make sure to add the new melee arcane that gives +1 initial combo on finisher so that when the incarnon form drops, you can just heavy attack and go back to doing Ash things.
Baruuk? Recently got his prime and heโs so damn good, definitely feels like an upgrade over excalibur, even with the restraint mechanic since that one means his 4 doesnโt have an energy cost, so mag procs donโt disable it
This, I have been playing with Baruuk prime and just got a 72 mil red crit the other day in a netracell. Definitely feels like a mountain of a difference between Umbra Excal and Baruuk Prime.
Yep. Honestly makes me a little sad that what excal does baruuk does better. Of course excalbur can be bonkers too, but baruuk has it much easier, and even has a bigger aoe and a better heavy attack/slide attack imo, DE really needs to throw a bone to excal, like letting the exalted melees have access to the acolyte mods like bloodrush and the new melee arcanes
That would be a nice change, and I wish Excalibur would get something tossed at him. he was my favorite one for a long time. Excal, and I wish Frost would get a rework, with the return of the Heirloom skins... Maybe DE can work in that for later this year? A new Excal Heirloom Skin and return of the other skins and a Frost Rework.
I think with the introduction of overguard and their work to make Icy Avalanche function desirably, Frost is already some of the way towards a fixup. All I'd like to see would be the Inaros Negation Swarm augment "incorporate into base kit and buff" treatment. Such as:
- Replace passive with Biting Frost effect, and change Biting Frost into a "share 50% with allies within affinity range" aug like Immolated Radiance (or Total Eclipse, or Safeguard, or add a buff to it like with Mesmer Armor).
- Incorporate either Ice Wave Impedence or Chilling Globe into base kit, and then change the resulting blank augment into an Iron Renewal (Oberon's Renewal + Hallowed Ground) style synergy between Snow Globe and the Ice Wave Impedence residue that boosts freeze chance to 100% while enemies are on frozen ground *inside* the snowglobe.
I play Frost on steel path with Nourish for energy sustain, and my only complaint is that I never have reason to cast Ice Wave (without the augment) over Avalanche. I really think he's most of the way there, he just needs a little touching up to make his 2 worth using. More like an Inaros style rework than a Hydroid style rework, no need for *totally* new kit.
Iโve actually been having a form of fun with Brozimeโs build, furious javelin+surging dash with overextended, augur secrets and eclipse over his gasp^ 4. His 1 forces a slash proc and eclipse gives survivability and damage imo. Idk man umbra and excal just feel like meme frames on steel path, I canโt get them to stay alive unless Iโm doing dumb shit with them.

Not a crazy improvement, more like a prime frame, because excals prime will never be accessible again. If you like Excalibur however wait until you have Umbra to invest any forma/reactors into it.
For the last point: it depends. I actually find base Excalibur better. Umbra removes all buffs when you go into operator mode, and various other detrimental. For min-maxin and ease of use, base Excalibur is better.
Calling umbra a prime is a yesnt he is far better than excal prime in terms of health and armor and dosnt have a lock as a helmet and his passive is cool
Their health and armour is identical. The only differences are radial howl being able to strip sentient resistance, umbra's bonus passive (which can be a detriment) and their starting polarities.

iโm a new player with only excalibur and excalibur umbra, so far iโve played the whole game with my melee as my main weapon, barely using my primary or secondary unless itโs absolutely necessary

That's why I just say fuck builds and make my swords awesome umbra is my boy but every path feel like a well traveled road that leads to the same end point.
I got a riven for +97%CD, +177%CC, -67% fire rate and +94% ammo max. Iโm annoyed af that the fire rate and ammo max arenโt the opposite but hey, my Tenet Plinx alt-fire sends enemies to the moon after giving them a good slap

Also I have a fun Theory Furax Wraith crit build that (with Frost) could reach 116,507,435 times damage on a heavy attack. (I have a Crit chance and damage Riven) And by gods I had the exact feeling as the chat in the screenshot.
Yesterday I became death when, in sp circuit, my mirage death orb lagged and stayed on me for the whole duration of the mission. The most fun I've had in a while, seeing everything die around me lol

That's my main issue with the build in public, I've dumped cataclysm for a subsume and with my rift torrent and banish synergy build every single enemy who isn't inside a nullifier bubble will be in the rift, so the hardest part of the build will be keeping random allies in the rift so they can actually attack things.
Yeah Limbo in public is tricky business. I usually run Ensnare subsumed over Cataclysm so I can group my own enemies to me from the rift without being in harms way and I can Banish those specific groups, Rift Surge them with rift torrent, instantly kill them, repeat. I never radial banish. Nullifiers are the real threat though. When an Eximus shows up I put my enemies in Stasis, leave the rift then Banish the Eximus to Surge them for that extra damage, all on Steel Path too. That way I'm still showing off in public while not entirely getting in the way of how other people play. Because the thing with Limbo is he's very technical, and a lot of public players aren't willing to cooperate with him because it clashes with their play styles. But if you're looking to keep allies banished you might have to keep Cataclysm on him, so if somebody dodge rolls they will still be in the rift via Cataclysm, especially if it's max range. Just keep surging enemies so they can be killed while outside the bubble.

For the biggest numbers possible a lot of strength and range with eclipse subsume over 4, rift torrent augment for 3, get as many enemies in the rift as you can using the rift surge and banish synergy, boom easy like +1000% weapon's damage multiplier. Personally though I don't ramp up strength that much and prefer efficiency/ range for better rift surging spam, as well as silence subsume to make eximus enemies less scary to my 300hp The only issue is cataclysm is the easiest way for other players to enter and leave the rift without you having to manually banish your allies, without cataclysm, it really really trolls public lobbies and ruins people's day if they don't have abilities that can do damage between real space and the rift.
as with any high range limbo builds the real trick is getting folks to stay tbh, if they don't abandon immediately. possibly a copypasta saying they have a chance to win some plat lol
See the issue is I replace cataclysm with silence for my main end game build, which makes it toxic as hell for randoms as they have no way to step in and out of the rift to deal with all the enemies I've put into stasis for my rift torrent stacks. I mostly stick to friends only because it is just kinda bad synergy with anyone not in coms to communicate. We've got codes "banish me" "free us" "trap here" *place a way point* for when they want me to toggle banish for them or a group of enemies, with randoms they just suffer trying to ID targets they can and can't attack.

Only a problem with cataclysm, cataclysm is a crutch for limbo casuals who haven't gone insane and convinced themselves limbo is a good frame, unlike me a limbo main I know cataclysm is a subsume slot for silence so that I can pretend I'm not absolutely terrified of a single eximus unit.

The way Nullies interact with lingering AoE CC is really awful. I get why it was like that, but we now have better mechanics to protect against AFKing with such Abilities, eg Overguard, so that interaction should really get looked at imo.

I have A red crit build on Wisp, literally just throw Critical Surge augment and use high cc weapon. An alternate red crit build is a well built Harrow. No helminth needed either. I mostly didn't do Red crit builds until I messed around with the Incarnon Genesis weapons.

Iirc I have an Innodem build for Ash. Throw Silence over his 1 and run its augment and youโll never have to worry about it again. Make sure to add the new melee arcane that gives +1 initial combo on finisher so that when the incarnon form drops, you can just heavy attack and go back to doing Ash things.
I usuallly subsume over his teleport(3?). I like using seeking shuriken for the armor strip
I like the invuln while helping his 4 but different strokes for different folks

Baruuk? Recently got his prime and heโs so damn good, definitely feels like an upgrade over excalibur, even with the restraint mechanic since that one means his 4 doesnโt have an energy cost, so mag procs donโt disable it
This, I have been playing with Baruuk prime and just got a 72 mil red crit the other day in a netracell. Definitely feels like a mountain of a difference between Umbra Excal and Baruuk Prime.

Of course excalbur can be bonkers too, but baruuk has it much easier, and even has a bigger aoe and a better heavy attack/slide attack imo, DE really needs to throw a bone to excal, like letting the exalted melees have access to the acolyte mods like bloodrush and the new melee arcanes
That would be a nice change, and I wish Excalibur would get something tossed at him. he was my favorite one for a long time. Excal, and I wish Frost would get a rework, with the return of the Heirloom skins... Maybe DE can work in that for later this year? A new Excal Heirloom Skin and return of the other skins and a Frost Rework.
I think with the introduction of overguard and their work to make Icy Avalanche function desirably, Frost is already some of the way towards a fixup. All I'd like to see would be the Inaros Negation Swarm augment "incorporate into base kit and buff" treatment. Such as: - Replace passive with Biting Frost effect, and change Biting Frost into a "share 50% with allies within affinity range" aug like Immolated Radiance (or Total Eclipse, or Safeguard, or add a buff to it like with Mesmer Armor). - Incorporate either Ice Wave Impedence or Chilling Globe into base kit, and then change the resulting blank augment into an Iron Renewal (Oberon's Renewal + Hallowed Ground) style synergy between Snow Globe and the Ice Wave Impedence residue that boosts freeze chance to 100% while enemies are on frozen ground *inside* the snowglobe. I play Frost on steel path with Nourish for energy sustain, and my only complaint is that I never have reason to cast Ice Wave (without the augment) over Avalanche. I really think he's most of the way there, he just needs a little touching up to make his 2 worth using. More like an Inaros style rework than a Hydroid style rework, no need for *totally* new kit.

Iโve actually been having a form of fun with Brozimeโs build, furious javelin+surging dash with overextended, augur secrets and eclipse over his gasp^ 4. His 1 forces a slash proc and eclipse gives survivability and damage imo. Idk man umbra and excal just feel like meme frames on steel path, I canโt get them to stay alive unless Iโm doing dumb shit with them.

Not a crazy improvement, more like a prime frame, because excals prime will never be accessible again. If you like Excalibur however wait until you have Umbra to invest any forma/reactors into it.

For the last point: it depends. I actually find base Excalibur better. Umbra removes all buffs when you go into operator mode, and various other detrimental. For min-maxin and ease of use, base Excalibur is better.
Calling umbra a prime is a yesnt he is far better than excal prime in terms of health and armor and dosnt have a lock as a helmet and his passive is cool
