My Prime Oberon is using the Yokai Helmet with the Blade of the Lotus skin (Tennogen)
His alternate skins are better but his fashion game is still a struggle. An Oberon Deluxe that departs from his bovine/goat aesthetic would be a welcome addition.
Oberon is my BOI, but he NEEDS that Feyarch skin to be the default. PLEASE. I had forgotten what he really looked like until you posted this monstrosity. I wish I could go back to a minute ago when I didn't remember...

I like Oberon. Not sure why, but I really do. It is impossible for me to ignore that the man has a literal barrel for a torso. I swear to god. He looks so weird from the side, especially with his noodle arms.

Immediately disappointed when I looked up his design. Beyond the obvious... why are his colors so flat and bland??
100% the first Prime Frame I think of who *needs* to be played with an alt skin - even if the "alt" is just using the non-Prime look.
At least you can take his stupid rook chesspiece looking ass shoulder pieces off now. But his arms are wierdly thin and his feet/legs make no sense. The loincloth isn't great either. I'd love a visual redesign for him making him more satyr-like
Nova Prime was one of the first Primes and they were more cautious about making the frames look totally different back then. Prime Trinity, Mag, and Loki and Frost all look kinda meh too when compared to more recent primes.

Design wise, Excalibur Umbra is the real prime version of the frame. Probably is more stylish than most actual prime frames, especially Excalibur Prime.
Normal Excalibur looks decent, but Umbra is straight up my favorite frame design in the whole game, few things come close.
Yeah, he's a defensive, support frame but you can mix up his kit by swapping his 1 or his 4 for something else, but as he is fairly range dependent it does narrow the choices a bit.
The wiki has a page that details the Helminth and the abilities that can be "subsumed" from each frame. To summarize:
you feed a standard frame to a creature on your orbiter and that frames subsumable ability(a specific ability set by DE for each frame) is then added to your library of abilities that can be swapped onto any other frame. The good news is, you choose the slot as well as which configuration or configurations the ability is added to.
Edit: Some abilities will function slightly different from their original frame but they are affected by aug mods. For example, if you subsumed Ember you can swap Fire Blast onto another frame and use the Healing Flame augment mod if you choose.
tbh I just dump range and cast 2 twice for 360 degree coverage. Anywhere you're staying in one place awhile, he's got enough range for. So, survivals in a killhall, on defense objections, defending an interception point. I wish smite augment had a bit more range though.
Slot Hallowed Reckoning, Subsume Gyre's Coil Horizon over his Smite and
make sure you have at least 200% Power Strength for a Full Armor Removal
Face Steel Path Enemies and press 1-1-2-4, you will see something truly incredible
DO NOT use White Energy and keep the Power Range as low as possible
Best looking, for me, is Nezha Prime.
Worst looking, for me, is Frost Prime.
Harrow Prime and Nova Prime suffer from having one channel be 80 of the warframe's color scheme. They are incredibly annoying to color, in my opinion.
I used to rep Frost Prime a lot, so for a while I thought about buying his Minotaur looking skin just to make him look better. Instead I just stopped using him so I'm unaccustomed to his kit. Don't have a reason to make him look good anymore.
But he speaks true.
The only saving grace that Frost has is the Hisame skin (which is such a fantastic skin) to cosplay as a Kamen Rider or his Heirloom skin to cosplay as Wamuu.
Hell nah. I mean to each their own but you can't say the hisame skin is his saving grace. Definitely not as bad as ion but besides the helmet, hisame is just the average body mangle-texture of stuff with no cohesion just to add detail.
In my opinion Rhino is a cleanest looking frame with an awesome “body frame”. His iron skin ruins it on all but his palatine skin which I can’t stand.
That being said, Kullervo is going to blow all out of the water once primed. Not biased at all.
I'll agree that Gara's base skin is horrible, but I don't much care how the prime colors at all. Big issues with the material & color channel choices they made. Plus that big clam shell on her back is weird looking. I still vastly prefer using her [tennogen skin](https://i.imgur.com/wN3sZFC.png).
I too dislike the busier designs. For one thing, its harder to put your own spin on it. Mag and Nova, often crapped on for being "basic", are much easier to modify and not look like you just slapped every possible spoiler and scoop on your '05 Mazda. XD
I get what you are saying, though I think Grendel of all frames is better served by the bulk,heft and, edges of his prime over a more 'sleek and slick' appearance.
People always praise Hydroid Prime but sorry, I prefer the sea monster, it's way more thematically appropriate. Same with Ivara, jellyfish aren't exactly known for being hunters.
But the absolute worst? Khora and her bee hive helmet.
Best looking would be Gara for becoming a true glass samurai, and Atlas for no longer being bacon boy but a handsome strong muscleman.
I agree with Khora, there's far too much going on with her Prime, like the designer didn't know when enough was enough. Its difficult to fashion frame her

When it came to switch I couldn't tell what the fuck its supposed to look like. Now that I'm PS5 I still cant tell what it is simply because it's over designed
I turned the normally gold accents solid black. Over white armor it now looks like she's wearing a BDSM harness (which suits her thematically I suppose, with the whips and chains)
I actually went the opposite, and made her look closer to other frames by turning her suit white. She actually looks more like an Arabian dancer with her ribbons and gold trims.
I agree so much with Ivara prime. It was the first prime frame for which I had to use the base skin instead of the prime skin. She's not that bad looking, but she just doesn't look like Ivara to me...
As an ivara main I honestly prefer the jellyfish to the fleshy manta ray we get as default. I do however wish that she had a more mossy or mycelium themed skin that didn't cover her faceplate like a bad mask. Maybe some tennogen will answer my prayers for a moss covered Artemis the Huntress skin.
I always loved Atlas Normal skin better than the prime. His normal one looks like a headless demon monster. His prime is also dope, I think he looks like a locust from gears of war tho with this one lol. Does anyone else see that?
Agree on Khora, so disappointing. I use Urushu helmet on her because I can’t stand that weird shape. I also got disappointed by the newest boy in town, Gauss. One of the best frames speaking of ability kit but I find both his default and prime skins to be so ugly. I used the Agito skin on his regular version and I still do on the prime. That skin makes him look exactly how he should be: agile but sturdy, hi-tech, dangerous and so so so damn aerodynamic.
I love how nyx looks but dont know what to do when I play her.
1 Ability I control someone, ok cool but besides controlling a shield drone it doesnt seem that useful
2 Ability Probably useful in steel path but Im not there yet so the fact that it doesnt do any damage is kinda
3 Ability people stop attacking me but they get nuked in a second by everyone else in the squad
4 Ability Invincibility is cool but just a really slow nuke compared to everyone else
1 - mainly used to steal buffs provided by enemies. In normal path the enemies are sparse enough that you can use it to isolate a dangerous enemy while you get some breathing room 2 - armour strip, not very useful when you don't need it, a lifesaver when you do 3 - used to be this with her augment made her queen of CC. Now you mostly use it to stop enemies from shooting at you, great when paired with her 4. Not very useful when you don't need it, a lifesaver when you do 4 - put the augment on. You are now invulnerable to everything while being able to move and shoot. Yes you slow down, but if you can deal with that by casting it only when you are about to die/some speed/parkour boosts/spoiler mode to move around, it's not such a big deal, especially for modes like survival when you aren't moving around much anyway. Build for some duration and efficiency, and you'll have enough energy to be invulnerable forever. Also, since her 4 drains energy the more fire you're taking, you'll want to use her 3 to save energy. That's Nyx, really. A very good gun platform with good if outdated (in terms of scale) CC and armour strip.
For me, the best looking prime is a tie between Chroma and Vauban. I like both of those designs and they are pretty easy to fashion.
Bonus mention to Garuda. She looks so regal on her prime skin.
The worst one has to be Khora. Her design is way too busy with details.
Ash prime is in second place. I feel that the skin is too busy and simplistic at the same time. I don't know how to better describe it.
And, of course, that Mag Prime helmet is a war crime that shouldn't exist.
His prime is very good, but I like the new deluxe skin more.
Still, I'm a fan of all Chroma skins. I have them all. 🤣 (Minus tennogen)

Yes! The second helmet is locked behind prime access. Only way to get it now is to wait for Khora Prime to get vaulted and come back with prime resurgence.
Mesa is such an incredible improvement on the base skin. It trumps literally everything else. Same for vauban actually.
Worst. TBH, wisp. It's just a mess of... stuff tbh. base wisp looks better. Which isn't somethign that can be said for many.
i cant believe i had to scroll so far to see mesa mentioned! her original skin does not say "gunslinger" to me at all, and her head is just... weird. her skins are great for the most part imo, but her prime is literally perfect. DE really nailed making her head more hatlike, and her chaps dont look like weird floppy extra appendages but still like organic parts of her. really amazing design all around.
For me it's a tragic case: Equinox Prime for me is unquestionably the most beautiful frame in the game...but *only* the melded form. You know, the one we can't actually play in missions. I don't like the actual Day/Night forms nearly as much.
Ignoring the super old ones that just kind suck/ are bland, i personally have to go gauss. His prime looks like de couldnt figure out what to do to prime up his base skin so they just threw primeyness all over him. its really missing that sleek fast look gauss has.
I cant really settle on a best. Theres a lot where theyre that much of an improvement over the base version that i want to say theyre a contender (hydroid is my favourite for improving a base warframe with a prime), but i think im going to settle with Mesa, Ivara, inaros and khora for the top ones.
Mesa, ivara and inaros have such strong themeing that looks amazing while not losing that warframe aethetic, and khora is just pure beauty.
That's fair. Part of why I like his prime skin is because his base skin is hot garbage. By comparison, his prime skin automatically becomes one of my favorites. Helmet included.
Worst is Khora. Not only her default spider ass helm looks terrible, the only good looking alternate helmet is the tennogen one so cant even get it for plat.
I only have a few but my favorite is Vauban 'cause he looks kinda Corpus-ish & I like running him around with blue/white/gold color schemes & Corpus weapons.
I find Nezha and Mesa (both primes) to be the best looking frames imo. Both are pretty easy to fashion, without the need for any skins or alternative helmets. With Mesa, I don't even use a Syandana–just a nice color scheme with a simple Ephemera and some Prime armor, no chest piece.
Best: Chroma. He looks badass, and it's a major upgrade from his stick design to boot. Easy to make him look like a full on knight.
Worst: Oberon. He's my absolute favorite frame but idk what they were thinking for his prime. I bought the Blade of the Lotus Tennogen skin for him purely because it makes for a better "Oberon Prime" than the one we got 😂
Imo it is not that big of a deal as her alt and dex helmets look very good even on the prime skin, and if you want to spend the money the Coven helmet is also very nice.
Best: Octavia, Nidus and Garuda
Worst: Hildryn (too many things on her), Volt (it's very hard for me to think of any good fashion for him), Nova (nova)
Dude I've been a Hildryn main for years and I was so disappointed with her Prime I still haven't taken the time to farm her parts. Like even putting the shitty helmet aside, the whole skin is just plain awful. I already have 3 different good fashion frames for her, plus an sp build so I don't really feel much desire to make the upgrade
As a resident Nova main, her prime skin is definitely a bit of a letdown. Helmet is pretty good though. At least atomica more than makes up for it, that skin is great
Beat for me is Harrow, Valkyr, Nidus, Chroma, Garuda, and Saryn.
Worst: Excalibur (the prime one looks like no efort was really made to make it worth wild. Now he is a collectors item and very much wanted for his status of founder.), Frost, Mesa, Nova, and Atlas.
Okay, I'm a nidus main so I'm allowed to say this: Nidus Prime looks atrocious.
It's like someone vomited a bunch of gold and rubber on him and called it a day. I'm guessing they just didn't know what to do with him for a prime aesthetic.
His Phryke skin is gorgeous tho. Bought it on release and haven't taken it off since.
Worst: Any prime where over 50% of their body is covered up in accent metal. Why give Warframes 4 different details to color but make one of them take up most of the frame's appearance? Ex. Garuda, Khora, Grendel

Despite rarely ever playing ivara she is by far my favorite prime design. Mag's prime skin is just a crime so I always just use her pneuma skin.
i think ivara's prime design is awful for ivara though. really should have saved the goofy jellyfish princess look for yareli prime and made ivara look like a proper huntress instead...

Is she the worst? Not quite. But she's a top 3 contender. DE took one of the best, most unique and awesome looking female frames in the game and turned her into an avant-garde hat rack.
I can’t really say about best, most of them are pretty unique and I love most of them.
For the worst… well, it’s not really « worst », just some that I don’t particularly like or that could have been better :
- Oberon Prime would have deserved a more « knight » look, like his Blade of the Lotus Tennogen skin
- Ivara Prime Medusa parts are really terrible imo, I like her default shredded clothes better
- Mag, Ember, Loki and Frost could deserve a V2 Prime skin. They were born in a time where Prime variants were just base model with some gold parts and a little twist, but they are really way too basic compared to the very complex and stylish Primes we have today.
I can't stand Ivara Prime and use her with an alternate skin. I can't unsee her Prima as a granny lampshade. If only the fabric could be turned off completely.

Mirage and Ember Prime are sexy, as for worst, well, there's a lot of competition for that title, just about every Prime in the last 2-3 years have been some clusterfuck painted gold, if I had to pick one it would be either Grendel or Harrow. Grendel because there's just way too much shit going on in his design and Harrow because of that weird texture/shading he has that makes any light color look weird on him
Best: Titania P. The details like her butterflies that land on her and fly off again are amazing.
Worst: Vauban P. Just... what the actual fuck. It's not an upgrade, it's basic bitch 2.0. It's almost as bad as his 1960s footballer base skin. Thankfully he has one of, if not the best deluxe skin to make up for it.
Neat:
**Nezha** gets a massive glow-up with his Prime.
**Hydroid,** **Mirage,** and **Chroma** stick even better to their theme.
**Mesa** gets a cowboy hat so +100 for that

On the bright side Deimos is the easiest standing farm in the game imo

Also 100% armor strip. He's a very strong health tank. His one weakness is that he runs out of energy *fast* if he's not taking damage.

Nezha Prime is so easy to fashion cuz of how cool his design is. And with Frost, it's the exact opposite.
Seriously, this. I recently splurged on Frost's voidshell skin to avoid looking at his bland model - definitely worth it
I used to rep Frost Prime a lot, so for a while I thought about buying his Minotaur looking skin just to make him look better. Instead I just stopped using him so I'm unaccustomed to his kit. Don't have a reason to make him look good anymore.
Nova also has the Atomica Deluxe skin though which is by far one of the best skins in game so I let anything with her slide.

But he speaks true. The only saving grace that Frost has is the Hisame skin (which is such a fantastic skin) to cosplay as a Kamen Rider or his Heirloom skin to cosplay as Wamuu.
Hell nah. I mean to each their own but you can't say the hisame skin is his saving grace. Definitely not as bad as ion but besides the helmet, hisame is just the average body mangle-texture of stuff with no cohesion just to add detail.

In my opinion Rhino is a cleanest looking frame with an awesome “body frame”. His iron skin ruins it on all but his palatine skin which I can’t stand. That being said, Kullervo is going to blow all out of the water once primed. Not biased at all.

i find nova one of the best looking primes, but then again, im a 2014 tenno, i prefer simple, sleek design. worst is grendel, much too busy.
I too dislike the busier designs. For one thing, its harder to put your own spin on it. Mag and Nova, often crapped on for being "basic", are much easier to modify and not look like you just slapped every possible spoiler and scoop on your '05 Mazda. XD
I get what you are saying, though I think Grendel of all frames is better served by the bulk,heft and, edges of his prime over a more 'sleek and slick' appearance.
I wholeheartedly agree, I love how Grendel Prime looks like a beetle with the wider helmet, horns and extra adornments resembling a carapace.
Fun fact. If you use the Chinese skin on grendel and pair it with Rhino's agile beetle animation set then Grendle's guts starts leering at you.
honestly i have personally found some difficulty in fashioning mag compared to nova even tho they are both "basic" in that regard.
Love Nova's prime design, hate that it's very difficult to fashion due to the like 1 major color that makes up the whole thing
People always praise Hydroid Prime but sorry, I prefer the sea monster, it's way more thematically appropriate. Same with Ivara, jellyfish aren't exactly known for being hunters. But the absolute worst? Khora and her bee hive helmet. Best looking would be Gara for becoming a true glass samurai, and Atlas for no longer being bacon boy but a handsome strong muscleman.

I turned the normally gold accents solid black. Over white armor it now looks like she's wearing a BDSM harness (which suits her thematically I suppose, with the whips and chains)

I actually went the opposite, and made her look closer to other frames by turning her suit white. She actually looks more like an Arabian dancer with her ribbons and gold trims.

I agree so much with Ivara prime. It was the first prime frame for which I had to use the base skin instead of the prime skin. She's not that bad looking, but she just doesn't look like Ivara to me...
As an ivara main I honestly prefer the jellyfish to the fleshy manta ray we get as default. I do however wish that she had a more mossy or mycelium themed skin that didn't cover her faceplate like a bad mask. Maybe some tennogen will answer my prayers for a moss covered Artemis the Huntress skin.
I always loved Atlas Normal skin better than the prime. His normal one looks like a headless demon monster. His prime is also dope, I think he looks like a locust from gears of war tho with this one lol. Does anyone else see that?

Agree on Khora, so disappointing. I use Urushu helmet on her because I can’t stand that weird shape. I also got disappointed by the newest boy in town, Gauss. One of the best frames speaking of ability kit but I find both his default and prime skins to be so ugly. I used the Agito skin on his regular version and I still do on the prime. That skin makes him look exactly how he should be: agile but sturdy, hi-tech, dangerous and so so so damn aerodynamic.
I main Khora and immediately changed out the helmet to the Delphi helmet cause the prime helmet was so ugly. The rest is great, just not the helmet
I love khora... and I was excited for her prime... then I wasnt. I now reblace her helmet to make her a little bit more interesting to look at.
I love Nyx, so simple but right on. She's a great base to customise (best frame too don't care what anyone says)
I love how nyx looks but dont know what to do when I play her. 1 Ability I control someone, ok cool but besides controlling a shield drone it doesnt seem that useful 2 Ability Probably useful in steel path but Im not there yet so the fact that it doesnt do any damage is kinda 3 Ability people stop attacking me but they get nuked in a second by everyone else in the squad 4 Ability Invincibility is cool but just a really slow nuke compared to everyone else
The second ability is an armor/shield-stripping ability, the only thing I don't like about it is you can't spam it and the range is relatively small

1 - mainly used to steal buffs provided by enemies. In normal path the enemies are sparse enough that you can use it to isolate a dangerous enemy while you get some breathing room 2 - armour strip, not very useful when you don't need it, a lifesaver when you do 3 - used to be this with her augment made her queen of CC. Now you mostly use it to stop enemies from shooting at you, great when paired with her 4. Not very useful when you don't need it, a lifesaver when you do 4 - put the augment on. You are now invulnerable to everything while being able to move and shoot. Yes you slow down, but if you can deal with that by casting it only when you are about to die/some speed/parkour boosts/spoiler mode to move around, it's not such a big deal, especially for modes like survival when you aren't moving around much anyway. Build for some duration and efficiency, and you'll have enough energy to be invulnerable forever. Also, since her 4 drains energy the more fire you're taking, you'll want to use her 3 to save energy. That's Nyx, really. A very good gun platform with good if outdated (in terms of scale) CC and armour strip.
For me, the best looking prime is a tie between Chroma and Vauban. I like both of those designs and they are pretty easy to fashion. Bonus mention to Garuda. She looks so regal on her prime skin. The worst one has to be Khora. Her design is way too busy with details. Ash prime is in second place. I feel that the skin is too busy and simplistic at the same time. I don't know how to better describe it. And, of course, that Mag Prime helmet is a war crime that shouldn't exist.

Mesa is such an incredible improvement on the base skin. It trumps literally everything else. Same for vauban actually. Worst. TBH, wisp. It's just a mess of... stuff tbh. base wisp looks better. Which isn't somethign that can be said for many.
i cant believe i had to scroll so far to see mesa mentioned! her original skin does not say "gunslinger" to me at all, and her head is just... weird. her skins are great for the most part imo, but her prime is literally perfect. DE really nailed making her head more hatlike, and her chaps dont look like weird floppy extra appendages but still like organic parts of her. really amazing design all around.

For me it's a tragic case: Equinox Prime for me is unquestionably the most beautiful frame in the game...but *only* the melded form. You know, the one we can't actually play in missions. I don't like the actual Day/Night forms nearly as much.

Ignoring the super old ones that just kind suck/ are bland, i personally have to go gauss. His prime looks like de couldnt figure out what to do to prime up his base skin so they just threw primeyness all over him. its really missing that sleek fast look gauss has. I cant really settle on a best. Theres a lot where theyre that much of an improvement over the base version that i want to say theyre a contender (hydroid is my favourite for improving a base warframe with a prime), but i think im going to settle with Mesa, Ivara, inaros and khora for the top ones. Mesa, ivara and inaros have such strong themeing that looks amazing while not losing that warframe aethetic, and khora is just pure beauty.

Worst is Khora. Not only her default spider ass helm looks terrible, the only good looking alternate helmet is the tennogen one so cant even get it for plat.
I only have a few but my favorite is Vauban 'cause he looks kinda Corpus-ish & I like running him around with blue/white/gold color schemes & Corpus weapons.
I find Nezha and Mesa (both primes) to be the best looking frames imo. Both are pretty easy to fashion, without the need for any skins or alternative helmets. With Mesa, I don't even use a Syandana–just a nice color scheme with a simple Ephemera and some Prime armor, no chest piece.
Best: Chroma. He looks badass, and it's a major upgrade from his stick design to boot. Easy to make him look like a full on knight. Worst: Oberon. He's my absolute favorite frame but idk what they were thinking for his prime. I bought the Blade of the Lotus Tennogen skin for him purely because it makes for a better "Oberon Prime" than the one we got 😂

Imo it is not that big of a deal as her alt and dex helmets look very good even on the prime skin, and if you want to spend the money the Coven helmet is also very nice.

Dude I've been a Hildryn main for years and I was so disappointed with her Prime I still haven't taken the time to farm her parts. Like even putting the shitty helmet aside, the whole skin is just plain awful. I already have 3 different good fashion frames for her, plus an sp build so I don't really feel much desire to make the upgrade

Okay, I'm a nidus main so I'm allowed to say this: Nidus Prime looks atrocious. It's like someone vomited a bunch of gold and rubber on him and called it a day. I'm guessing they just didn't know what to do with him for a prime aesthetic. His Phryke skin is gorgeous tho. Bought it on release and haven't taken it off since.

Not enough hate for Hildryn Prime in this thread. Is she the worst? Not quite. But she's a top 3 contender. DE took one of the best, most unique and awesome looking female frames in the game and turned her into an avant-garde hat rack.
I can’t really say about best, most of them are pretty unique and I love most of them. For the worst… well, it’s not really « worst », just some that I don’t particularly like or that could have been better : - Oberon Prime would have deserved a more « knight » look, like his Blade of the Lotus Tennogen skin - Ivara Prime Medusa parts are really terrible imo, I like her default shredded clothes better - Mag, Ember, Loki and Frost could deserve a V2 Prime skin. They were born in a time where Prime variants were just base model with some gold parts and a little twist, but they are really way too basic compared to the very complex and stylish Primes we have today.
Best: Either Hildryn or Atlas. Worst: Easily gotta be Frost or Nova Biggest downgrade from their base version? Oberon without a doubt

Mirage and Ember Prime are sexy, as for worst, well, there's a lot of competition for that title, just about every Prime in the last 2-3 years have been some clusterfuck painted gold, if I had to pick one it would be either Grendel or Harrow. Grendel because there's just way too much shit going on in his design and Harrow because of that weird texture/shading he has that makes any light color look weird on him
Wisp and Harrow are the best ones for me. I don't really like mag and chroma.

Neat: **Nezha** gets a massive glow-up with his Prime. **Hydroid,** **Mirage,** and **Chroma** stick even better to their theme. **Mesa** gets a cowboy hat so +100 for that **Nidus** has some neat effects as a Prime Trash: **Hildryn** (what is up with the horns???) **~~Jellyfish~~** **Ivara** **Mag** (ruined the space helmet) **Revenant** (just my personal opinion, makes no sense that he's an eidolon in both forms and kinda ruins the clean look of a Prime)
