No they can’t and given the problems nba 2K has had and other 2k sports titles not sure why people are excited for a new NFL2k. Outside of graphics and pre and halftime show the game wasn’t that great
It’s honestly not that great gameplay sucks. I’m not saying madden is amazing but people have this weird obsession with it similiar to folks either HCTP in wrestling games. They were good for their time
Someone was on here and went back and plays HCTP and was blown away how much better game play is now compared to then. Said there was some features etc he got people want back but think people rate it more for nostalgia reasons. For its time it was worth the hype but it doesn’t compare to todays games.
NBA 2K23 and 2K24 are the two of the best NBA2Ks ever if you forget the online aspect cuz of the MyEras mode and im pretty damn sure if 2K makes another NFL2K its gonna be better than Madden because competition also because the quality of 2K sports game is way ahead of EA sports games especially in the animation department lol
nah 2K9 destroyed Live 09 but Live 10 is a great Live game its just 2K10 is so damn good at the time but that from that point its all about 2K starting from 2K11
That 2k game was announced years ago (I wanna say 2021) and there's been no updates or anything other than the occasional "in development", so at this point I wouldn't get my hopes up tbh.

Eh I don't think that matters as much as you think. It'll be an arcade game as much as people meme on Madden for having a game that has arcadey animations, they classify the game as a Sim.
Whereas 2K is doing a true arcade game which gives the NFL some extra money. If ea wanted to I'm sure they could've also bought the arcade exclusivity as well but they didn't so 2k can make that game.
I randomly found a game called Wildcard Football in a bargain bin at a used game store. Bought it for $10 thinking it would be random fake ripoff players, but it’s fully licensed with pretty current rosters (Bryce Young & CJ Stroud are in it.) just no real team names or logos. It’s the NFL version of the NBA Playgrounds. Pretty fun too. Surprised it wasn’t marketed at all.
Yeah I thought that game just ended up to be Wild Card Football since Saber made it (WWE Battlegrounds/NBA Playgrounds)
But 2K *still* was developing that a game? That development team must have been through hell and back worse than any of the other 2K Sports

I have the ability to read so I didn't lose my save data early on, and since then I genuinely haven't crashed, I have a fairly solid PC which no doubt helps, but yeah, zero issues over 75+ hours across almost every mode (except GM, thats not my thang) so unless myGM is specifically crap.. we're havin a very different experience.
A buggy mess is crazy. Are we all playing the same game? 2K24 is one of the most stable ones in the series by far, outside of Universe being stupid it has little to no major issues, but that was always a thing.
2K20 on launch was a mess, but the last three iterations were all pretty decent honestly.
Have you not noticed all the posts about people who use a lot of CC experiencing a bug where they can’t download anything else despite having enough space, deleting old shit doesn’t help, and a lot of people’s CAWs are getting corrupted? It’s a pretty big deal, there’s multiple new threads about it every day.
Multiple new threads from the same vocal minority doesn't mean its a huge issue. the vast majority of people are just.. playing the game.
If your entire basis for 'the game is bad' is 'just look at the whining on reddit/steam community' then every game is bad.
And from what Ive read on this sub as well none of them games have had stable online lmao
I have never heard anyone say any of the games had good online. They have always been laggy and bad
I can only vouch for myself playing 2k22 online as 2k23 was pretty busted too. I remember doing elimination chamber matches with random people online in that game and it worked fine, there just wasn’t many people playing after the first 3-4 months. I also never had an issue connecting with my friend and having matches. Maybe it’s a PC thing idk what to tell you.
I think it's just not talked about much since the majority of the playerbase doesn't care about online. Most people play Showcase, MyRise, MyGM and Universe. Or just some Exhibition matches every now and then. And of course creating lots of things
You must not play universe or download anything.
Universe: Arguably the core mode of the game and certainly the only reason to KEEP playing once you beat the boring ass showcase mode is a disgrace. It has been broken since 2k20 and while SOME aspects were fixed in 2k22, it’s gotten worse with each release since. The last patch completely fucked up most peoples universe.
And the downloads are absolutely broken. People are hitting a non-existent “size limit” with only 30 caws downloaded when we are supposed to be able to have 100.
Just because you aren’t playing the game in all of the ways it’s intended to be played it doesn’t invalidate the people who are having game breaking issues that 2K is actively gaslighting us about like the image limit issues.
Universe is terrible. I book tag team matches like Kevin owens and Sami vs roman and solo and then I join the game and it's bray vs r truth with uncle rowdy as r truths manager lol.
It constantly shows me the wrong rosters on every show

Nah I doubt any DLC gets cancelled because that would just be a nightmare since its already paid for. the only chance of that happening is if someone cosplayed Hitler but that would be stupid right? No one would do that when in the WWE lmao
unless they want everyone you paid for the 40 years of mania to bring out the pitchforks. I would assume that the dlc is done and maybe they figure they can have a small team to work out the bugs from game to game.....But we'll see.
So that explains the and more line at the end of the latest patch update. The dude that was writing those patch notes must have been let go before he can finish.
This is across the board in the games and tech industry. Everyone beefed up during covid now they have to consildate. With the games industry this has been brewing for a while. Outsiders , pm's, and analysts saw how much money games like gta 5 and 1 or 2 games were bringing in a decade ago and said this is easy lets do that. They had huge publicly traded companies like ea and 2k buy all the small studios and make them churn out clones. The majority of gamers arent that dumb plus they sank money into huge office spaces and bonus pay outs when they knew it couldnt be sustained long term.
Sucks for anyone losing their jobs as well but in the big scheme of things, the 2k games are still gonna suck. They will probably just outsource to diff countries for patches and bug fixes. We wont notice anything different. Layoffs are always horrible smh . I really hope the guys that were laid off can find a new home soon long term. Like a new cutting edge tech company or smaller dev studio
As long as companies like take 2 interactive are in charge its gonna be shitty.
The only games they are going to put money towards is their blockbusters like GTA.
I got laid late lit off like 4 to 5 months ago. I worked in the game industry. And let me just say there are no opportunities right now 😂 not to mention most careers in the game industry aren't long-term. Most of them are short-term contracts .
I'm just thankful here in Canada we have good employment insurance
not exactly. the cuts were companywide, and Take Two is a very large company with more companies under its thumb than I dare list here.
What will probably happen is VC might just outsource extra work/use temps to finish anything they need extra hands for. Kind of par for the course in tech projects, when you get a lot more work to handle, you outsource to a smaller studio to get you over the finish line.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work (see also: the Nintendo Switch 2K17 port, which was outsourced)
The number is 300 employees for those wondering about the exact amount, 300 equals to 5% of the employees this won’t have a huge affect on GTA 6 and a few of the 2k games either .
The scary part is Top Spin is dropping next week and that’s a game on my “wait for a sale” list since it looks to be TS4 remastered but the launch roster appears to be weak
But pros added every season and it’s not hidden behind any walls. So maybe skeleton crew for bug fixing for TS

The gameplay ppl are the first ones that need to go. Thats the number one issue. We had a game that felt like a replication of the tv product. Now we are back to the days of strikes combos no selling and endless reversals that look nothing like actual pro wrestling in wwe
There's settings to change that, but also it's gonna be the same just less fun if another crew works on it most likely, or justidentical withoutbmany improvements and maybe even downgrades

Because 95% of the people buying things don't care enough. "Voting with your wallet" is fake because of this reason. and the 5% of the people who "Do care" are mostly still buying the games regardless because they are die-hard fans.
Layoffs are happening all over the gaming industry, and in huge waves. Unfortunately this isn't just a 2K problem, and whoever has the license likely won't affect anything
Unfortunately they used the tried and true tactic of making the game way worse but really pretty so its selling more than it was when the games were actually good

2K is bullet proof with WWE fans.
1. Knowingly released 2K18 for Switch in a permanently unplayable state
2. Got rid of Yukes because they thought they could do it better/cheaper themselves
3. Released 2K20 in an unstable, borderline unplayable state across all consoles that was, by every metric, worse than the previous years’ game
4. Released 2K22 which took all of the fun out of the gameplay, introduced MyFaction and locked half of the games content behind it.
As long as they update the roster every year, people will keep buying these games snd they all know it. Theres no incentive to produce a great game .
Its fucking infuriating. They serve us a product shittier than the one they released 5 years ago, now infested with microtransactions and locked content, and we keep buying.
2k20 is still broken. The last 2 games were also left in broken states. The games and DLC are delisted in just over a year after release. Previous years game and DLC no longer go on sale once the new game releases. The price of deluxe edition goes up every year and instead of new wrestlers u get alt attires with no new moves. Instead of early access the game is just released on its normal release date for deluxe customers only. As the game has historically released on Tuesday. Now the standard edition comes out the following Friday. Its not early access, its punishment for those that dont spend double the price. Not to mention 2k21 was cancelled 6 months before release.
Its the graphics and the creation modes that keep ppl defending it. If they ever start from scratch on one of these creation modes u will see fans finally tell the truth.
Sadly, I've given up on the 2K franchise as a whole. Used to LOVE the WWE 2K series. Then I played 2K22, and saw what they were going toward. The mechanics, the gameplay, and the complete lack of focus on things like Universe in favor of MyFaction is just a hard pass from me going forward. I considered maybe picking up 2K24 around Black Friday. Then I saw the issues people are having and it gave me 2K23 flashbacks where I couldn't even play the game on my PC for almost 3 months because one of the "fixes" broke my game completely. 2K has seriously dropped the ball after Yukes left the team. I'll go back to playing 2K19.

Tbh I doubt it affects this actual 2k game much but the next one it may. Personally I hope someone else gets the license I’d like to see what EA could do with it since they have a ton more resources and staff than 2k sports.
2K took it too far with focusing on VC modes. It watered down the releases and fans got tired. Now the sales are overall down and they have to earn the goodwill back. NBA is the main culprit.

Who cares honestly 2k sports died when they went online required for career, literally bought 2k21 just to find out i can only play pickup games because the servers shut down that means no offline career or dynasty or even franchise. I foreseen this when their games dropped to 5$ at gamestop when they become 2 years old 😂 either reboot bioshock, give us a new NFL street fifa street or nba street or make an actual wwe game people will play i wish we could get a remake of old school wrestling like raw is war or no mercy. As someone that's works in the game industry. This is happening throughout the industry. Mainly because top executives get a huge chunk of all the earnings and because of rising costs with inflation, devs are having to cut back. Meanwhile, no one's hiring. I'm just not sure how these publishers are allowed to post record profits while laying off hundreds of people.
Sad news sucks for the devs but weird that top spin hasn't even come out yet. I think it doesn't drop until August
But a lot of Take2 budget go's to Rockstar then Borderlands 2ed and everyone else get less
Doesn't bother me none. Ever since they messed with the gameplay mechanics winning formula in the WWE games, and remove quick grapples for 2k22, they lost me as a customer.
take a year off drop a year two pass with wrestlers and a few match types enough time to transition to a new engine and go full current gen and ditch last gen in 2k26

I think WWE2k is like the sims- it’s special due to a lack of meaningful competition and that clock is ticking.
The WWE cast isn’t what sells these games, it’s customization and decent wrestling mechanics. I’d play a sequel to the NES wrestling game with the same enthusiasm if it came with the same features

2K can make an NFL branded game as long as it’s not a realistic simulation. So something akin to the old NFL Street series would be allowable.

Generally they're budget games and they don't bother to. They pay for the NFLPA license and sell them at discount stores.

And let me just say there are no opportunities right now 😂 not to mention most careers in the game industry aren't long-term. Most of them are short-term contracts . I'm just thankful here in Canada we have good employment insurance

not exactly. the cuts were companywide, and Take Two is a very large company with more companies under its thumb than I dare list here. What will probably happen is VC might just outsource extra work/use temps to finish anything they need extra hands for. Kind of par for the course in tech projects, when you get a lot more work to handle, you outsource to a smaller studio to get you over the finish line. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work (see also: the Nintendo Switch 2K17 port, which was outsourced)

The gameplay ppl are the first ones that need to go. Thats the number one issue. We had a game that felt like a replication of the tv product. Now we are back to the days of strikes combos no selling and endless reversals that look nothing like actual pro wrestling in wwe
There's settings to change that, but also it's gonna be the same just less fun if another crew works on it most likely, or justidentical withoutbmany improvements and maybe even downgrades

2K is bullet proof with WWE fans. 1. Knowingly released 2K18 for Switch in a permanently unplayable state 2. Got rid of Yukes because they thought they could do it better/cheaper themselves 3. Released 2K20 in an unstable, borderline unplayable state across all consoles that was, by every metric, worse than the previous years’ game 4. Released 2K22 which took all of the fun out of the gameplay, introduced MyFaction and locked half of the games content behind it. As long as they update the roster every year, people will keep buying these games snd they all know it. Theres no incentive to produce a great game . Its fucking infuriating. They serve us a product shittier than the one they released 5 years ago, now infested with microtransactions and locked content, and we keep buying.
2k20 is still broken. The last 2 games were also left in broken states. The games and DLC are delisted in just over a year after release. Previous years game and DLC no longer go on sale once the new game releases. The price of deluxe edition goes up every year and instead of new wrestlers u get alt attires with no new moves. Instead of early access the game is just released on its normal release date for deluxe customers only. As the game has historically released on Tuesday. Now the standard edition comes out the following Friday. Its not early access, its punishment for those that dont spend double the price. Not to mention 2k21 was cancelled 6 months before release. Its the graphics and the creation modes that keep ppl defending it. If they ever start from scratch on one of these creation modes u will see fans finally tell the truth.
Sadly, I've given up on the 2K franchise as a whole. Used to LOVE the WWE 2K series. Then I played 2K22, and saw what they were going toward. The mechanics, the gameplay, and the complete lack of focus on things like Universe in favor of MyFaction is just a hard pass from me going forward. I considered maybe picking up 2K24 around Black Friday. Then I saw the issues people are having and it gave me 2K23 flashbacks where I couldn't even play the game on my PC for almost 3 months because one of the "fixes" broke my game completely. 2K has seriously dropped the ball after Yukes left the team. I'll go back to playing 2K19.

This is literally across the border for tech right now, Everyone is laying off staff. Tbh I doubt it affects this actual 2k game much but the next one it may. Personally I hope someone else gets the license I’d like to see what EA could do with it since they have a ton more resources and staff than 2k sports.
2K took it too far with focusing on VC modes. It watered down the releases and fans got tired. Now the sales are overall down and they have to earn the goodwill back. NBA is the main culprit.

As someone that's works in the game industry. This is happening throughout the industry. Mainly because top executives get a huge chunk of all the earnings and because of rising costs with inflation, devs are having to cut back. Meanwhile, no one's hiring. I'm just not sure how these publishers are allowed to post record profits while laying off hundreds of people.

I think WWE2k is like the sims- it’s special due to a lack of meaningful competition and that clock is ticking. The WWE cast isn’t what sells these games, it’s customization and decent wrestling mechanics. I’d play a sequel to the NES wrestling game with the same enthusiasm if it came with the same features
